Have ordered from here before without issue. All good things come to an end. Today at lunch, I ordered one pan of fried rice for a dinner event later that night. The owner/lady noted it would be ready to pick up after work, she thanked me and hung up. When I went to pick it up the place was empty. After calling out "Hello!" for a little bit, this guy walks in and goes behind the counter. I start telling him what I ordered and he informs he's working on the phone lines and doesn't work there. Finally, the owner/lady came out. She looks annoyed. Sadly, I learned my order was not ready--it had not even been made. When I asked her why, she said, "We were scared no one would pick it up." I reminded her she had my cell phone number and she had over 5 hours to call me back and ask me to pay over the phone. She laughed out loud, but offered no apology. I couldn't find the humor in it and walked out. She chased me down and said I could still get it, if I just waited 10 minutes. I didn't have any options and had an errand to run, so I said "ok" and told her i'd be back in little bit. I came back in 15. The rice was ready, but the register was down and I had to wait another 10 minutes for them to get it to work. I get to the even and remove the foil off the rice. It looked like a leopard. Most of it was dark with soy sauce and then there were spots of white all over, the rice had not even been prepared decently. It had barely been mixed, leaving half of it without any flavor. Thankfully, I had picked up trays of BonChon, so the group I was feeding had some great protein, but they ignored the spotty fried rice. I was charged 67 bucks for a half tray of useless ingredients and laughed at for wasting over 40 minutes of my time trying to just pick it up. I will not be back. I have eaten at this place for a few years, but every time I want to eat their food which is good, I debate on going or not, and I tell you why, the lady owner or the one who serves food, has a temper, and it sounds like she is giving us the food free. I do not know if she has a terrible life, but she sounds like an old lady. I am not going back to her Restaurant again, because restaurants like hers, there are a lot in Fremont, Newark Hayward, or Union City, and with our mo n ey, people has to treat us with respect. I was thinking that she is racist, we don't have to put up with people like her, ( Horrible.look.) well I do not recommend this Restaurant to any of my friends. Mann this place is a hit or miss with their service. Tried ordering over the phone won ton soup. A robot sounding thing answered the phone and was very unclear to understand it. I was trying to order won ton soup, then they asked which meat chicken, pork, or beef. Which i didn't want the added extra meat but ask for veggies instead. Which the robot sounded so unclear that I hung up and sent my husband. He tried asking for what I ordered and they said they don't do that? Which I don't understand how hard is it to understand won ton soup, with added veggies instead of meat?! Something so simple, and yet too complicated to understand? Actually a really good place! I was a little skeptical as it didn't even seem open at the time, & there wasn't very much action going in & out, but i'm so glad i decided to give them a try. The lady working the counter was extremely nice & very thankful for my tip as if she doesn't receive very much tips which makes me a little sad, as she was such a delight that i even went back the very next day for another plate of chow mein. We always have to go with the pork chow mein whenever we go someplace & let me tell you it did NOT disappoint! We also got a side of spring rolls which were decent, but one day we'll go back to try the other options they have. Order food delivery, took about 30min and everything tasted delicious! Recommend the honey walnut prawns, chicken fried rice, mongolian beef, orange chicken and crab Rangoon puffs. I also ordered a side of white rice. Everything was reasonably priced! I love that everything tasted fresh and how its supposed to taste. Nothing was greasy and it was all flavoful. We love everything we ordered, even my very picky 10 yr old that only likes plain white rice liked the beef chow fun. The sweet and sour chicken was one of the best I had. It's so flavorful, crispy outside, moist inside, delicious pieces of chicken. Beef chow fun was cooked and flavored perfectly. Mongolian beef was delicious, spicy but not overly spicy. Today I walked in to New Ocean alone while my man parked the car. The Asian woman who was taking orders behind the counter was not friendly at all. No greeting no smile, nothing. This was my first visit and I wasn't familiar with the menu. When I asked questions about the menu, she reacted as if she was irritated by my presence or me asking about the menu items. She was so unprofessional that I sat down and told her I would let my man order since he and his children have been here before. When my man walked in she was overly kind to him, greeting him with a smile asking him how he is doing and explaining to him his options. When she realized we were together she asks "are you with him"? I answered yes but by this time I was offended, had nothing to say and honestly wanted to leave. Thank God we ordered to go!! My family and I love this restaurant. If you want a quick and tasty meal, this is the spot. The Mongolian beef, salt and pepper prawns and hot and sour soup are my favorite. New Ocean Chinese Restaurant is located in Newark. It had been awhile since the last time I ate here. Since most Chinese restaurants in the area were closed on Tuesday, I decided to go here since they were open. After parking (they have a private lot behind the restaurant), I walked in and took a seat at a table. The staff were friendly and attentive as I looked at the lunch menu. This is a family run restaurant. After a quick look, and reminded how inexpensive the prices were, I ordered the Garlic Chicken with Steamed Rice lunch special. I got some Hot Tea and a Bowl of Hot and Sour Soup while waiting. Soon my lunch plate was delivered to my table. It was tasty and filling (and cheap). I will have to make a habit of visiting more often. read more

The interior decor isn't the greatest or up to date and the seating is not the comfiest. But if you're getting takeout the food will not disappoint. We had a variety of dishes, Honey Walnut Shrimp was so delicious! Both the sesame 35. Sesame Chicken and 30. Orange Chicken were divine! The bbq 120. BBQ Pork Fried Rice was perfect and the egg 4. Egg Rolls (5) (Vegetarian) were flavorful! The 9. Crab Rangoon (6) were the only thing that was not perfect, kind of over cooked and hard. We would definitely recommend this place! My family and I place a large order from here once a month. We love the food, it's tasty. I've read some of the other reviews, maybe they caught them on a bad day, because the food has flavor. The prices are reasonable, and I've never ever been treated poorly or experienced any rude behavior by anyone that works there. "Stick to what you know" (My Husband, 2018). I hate to say my husband was right.. I thought I would try a different Chinese restaurant rather than my usual and ugh... I wish I had of listened. The food was not very good in my opinion. 1. I was looking for shrimp fried rice and I saw Prawn rice in maggi sauce with rice. This was the closest I saw so I figured this was it.... womp womp womp... NOPE... 2. I asked for certain veggies in my rice.. I was told that they cannot customize my order ... (I always order my rice the same) 3. I saw a review say the crab rangoon was very good. The best crab rangoon I had here in Cali was from Lathrop... when I opened this crab rangoon.. I swear it had the consistency of hashbrowns. Shredded "crab meat" and no cream cheese . Ugh.. seriously....Look at the picture. Overall, this place did not do it for me. The food was dry and lack luster taste wise. It left much to be desired. For once in my adult life, I did not finish my Chinese food. I will not try this place again. I usually love this place but the last 2 times the prices are goin up and this is the 2nd time i ordered crabragoon and there was no crab nothing in the middle it was fried wonton and thats it and i almost broke a tooth the wrap was so hard never again . The beef chow main was also over cooked and the beef was gross. It was so bland and just terrible. The orange chicken was the same story. We also had an order of salt and pepper wings. It was weird how all the wings had broken bones. They needed to be cooked a little longer. They were the only thing not over cooked but under cooked. Really surprised and not going back. Don't ever Go there if you don't want to get treated rudely by this owner Lady. Customer service is very important not only for the customers but also for the owner of business. But this restaurant customer service is terrible and the lady inside can't even take the order. She's super rude and talking some Chinese stupid shit. They think we don't understand their language. I understand their language, this is what she said ,"I don't know what she gonna order, she keep asking .'" She even said its annoying to take my order'. Woow thats unacceptable talking in front of customer like that. Of course, I had to ask a bit what I want to know since thats my first time being there. I'm pretty sure the lady like this always gossip in front of her customers who came to ask about menu and Trust me she will show her impatient impressions if you taking a bit longer than what she expected really quick! I just leave and never go back there anymore. No standard and bad attitude! They don't know how to ask the customer nicely to take an order. One was sitting and another one just walked away to take the phone while I was ordering without saying anything. She also yelled at the customer! Woow I don't know how they do business. Worst Chinese food I've had in a very long time. (Never letting my dad choose a new restaurant again, Leave the yelping to me dad...) Should have just walked out when there were no chopsticks on the tables. (FYI, I am Chinese. I feel like majority of people who gave this place good reviews are not Chinese, and do not know what these dishes are supposed to taste like.) Parking lot has no lines to indicate parking spaces...Just guessed at the parking. Stir fry eggplant dish had some canned bamboo shoots in it that were not rinsed before cooking. It messed up the entire flavor of the dish. Yuck. Tomato noodles (no idea why my dad wanted to order this) tasted like noodles plus sweet and sour sauce (like on the generic sweet and sour pork made for non-Chinese people). The noodles were OK, nice and chewy, but the flavor of the dish made it inedible. My dad felt bad for his poor choice of restaurant and ended up eating alot out of guilt. I snacked on the added bell peppers in the dish that seemed OK since I was craving some veggies. The onions however tasted weirdly sour like it had gone bad. Funny cuz I spit out the onion cuz it was funky. and 5 minutes later my mom tries one and does the same thing. Forgot the name but some stirfried tofu dish literally had pork sung on top as a garnish or flavoring. Reeked of cheapness and laziness. Tofu consistency was nice with a good stirfried skin and soft interior, but the taste was off, (like every single dish) Stirfried green beans had a good flavor but was wayyyy too salty, it was almost inedible. they added cha tsai (pickled mustard plant) which was the culprit of the saltiness. These pieces really were inedible, like eating a spoon of salt. All 4 dishes ordered were fcked up some how. Also weird thing that happened, our receipt came back with the tip line already typed with $0 (paid by CC). No idea what that was about, but we reluctantly left some cash on the table. read more

I really wanted to try this place out, the food itself was OK, and the portions were too little especially for the price that I paid. I understand that business' were hurting due to the pandemic, but the portions were ridiculously little, and Chinese food ingredients aren't expensive.
