I have gone to new moon a handful of time. The talent in their work is definitely there, my only issue is with their pricing. I sent in a photo for my birthday, asking for a quote on a full set sparkle ombré, they quoted me $60, so I said perfect very reasonable and then after I finish, the price of my nails ended up being $75 before tip. Then today I go in to get my nails done and they insist that what i want requires a full new set, even though I had just gotten one fill in between. So I said whatever and got a new full set, I literally got the same design as I did for my birthday, which was the sparkle ombré like i mentioned just purple and it came out being $80. I have read multiple complaints on their pricing and nobody being able to back up how they got to that price and I fully agree and can say that I believe they just make the prices up on the spot. As well as when my full set was being put on, it seemed very rushed And the glue she used for the nails she dipped in acetone too(ive never seen) and it literally burned my nail to the point I instantly yelled ouch in the salon. another problem is they never ask you if you want polish or dip, and they just go ahead and use dip which obviously makes it more expensive I think I will be switching to a different salon as it's ridiculous that I am paying at the least $75 I go every time and am being told i need a new set always done by them each month. I also asked 3 times to make them shorter as I have car seats with buckles that are a struggle & she seemed to keep getting annoyed so I just left it and my nails are no where near short. So I've been coming to New Moon nails for about a year now. I was recommended to see Fiona by one of my coworkers and she ALWAYS does a phenomenal job :) I've seen a couple other nail techs and Fiona has always made the effort to make conversation and actually make me feel like a person rather than a number and someone that's just paying their bills. If I'm ever coming to this establishment I only ever request her. I would love to give more stars and I'm willing to change my rating if there are changes within the salon in the future. Provided below are a list of my qualms: Qualm #1: When I call it just seems like they want to rush through everything and not take the time to be thorough. They have NEVER asked for my name when taking my appointment. Only my phone number and it just makes me feel like there's no personal connection between the clients and the customers. I've been to busier nail salons and the ones in the past would always remember my name and stories I've told them during my appointments. Qualm #2: The salon is always pretty dirty. I'm very thankful I haven't gotten an infection from their dirty tools they use on me. Qualm #3: So I have really bad social anxiety around new people and I always get nervous when the nail techs talk to each other and I can't understand them. My first thought is always thinking they're talking about me or making fun of me. It just doesn't feel good when they talk amongst themselves and look over at me shortly after. I want to start off by saying Amy is amazing! I recently moved to Los Angeles from Arizona and I come back once a month just to get my fill manicure by her. I'm very loyal and happy! I do the craziest designs and every time she gets them perfect. The reason I took 2 stars off is because every time I got my toes as well (which I always do) they did a horrible job. (I go somewhere else for my toes) I was being cut by files, my cuticles were being torn off and I had to keep repeating myself to tell them to make my big toes shape even and they still didn't understand. The last time I did my toes I was so frustrated by the way he was scraping the bottom of my feet with the water flying everywhere I just told the guy not to give me a massage so I can finish and get out of there yet I received one anyways. I decided to try this place after I saw their Instagram . It looked like they did a good job and take pride in their work. I came in last Wednesday at around noon. I looked over prices and confirmed the full set was $24 or $25. I asked for short black coffin nails with matte. I showed a Pinterest photo and they said they could do it. Bella was my tech and she was very friendly and gentle. She didn't seem to agree that I wanted the nails short but I'm just not into long nails. Overall, the job looked good. I was disappointed that nothing was done to my cuticles. In the end I was charged $45. I asked the man why and he was unsure. My tech came over and said it was $5 for coffin shape and the rest was the polish. That's fine but I should have been alerted ahead of time it would be $20 extra. The good is there's lots of technicians and most of the people in there do great. There's a guy in there called Tim do not get him ever. He rushes through things his nail nippers aren't sharp and he pulls your hangnail off by the roots.. When he took my gel nail polish off, he didn't even get all the polish off and then he used that really abrasive nail buffer. I have ridges in my fingernails and it's been over a month. Not the worst nails I've ever had, but definitely close. I was seated with Sophie, who generously lobbed the acrylic on, then tried to drill from under the nail to fix them. They were super fat but they were so SHARP that I couldn't touch anyone. I had to file them down myself at home. I am really disappointed because I was sent here by a friend and the nails they share on their instagram are really cool! The inside of the salon is dirty and falling apart at the ceiling. Not worth your money! I asked for a dark red/brown nail color and left with raspberry pinkish red nails. My mom went in with me and had a manicure and pedicure and she asked for the basic pedicure and they started trying to do a much more expensive one and when she corrected them and said she wanted the basic one, they didn't listen and ended up charging her for the one she specifically asked multiple times for them to not do. And her manicure looks awful- they cut her nails all differently so they look worse than when she went in, with different shapes on each one. She has to refile them when she gets home because they were so bad. The entire time, she heard the people around her complaining about their nails and the technicians not listening to them. Overall, wasted my time and money here and would not recommend it. read more

The excessive amount of detail here is due to the shop/Fiona refusing to address my concerns so leaving lengthy reviews and moving on will have to suffice. I have been getting my nails done here since 2019. In the earlier days, I've tried 3 other techs but Fiona quickly became my go-to. She does excellent work and I've mainly had the experience of her being very pleasant but the reason for my exit is due to a series of events that resulted in an absolutely horrendous customer service experience. Part 1 Fiona usually doesn't answer the phones but when I called to make my request she said "Yes, you can make the appointment with ME on Sat at 9:30" I replied like "Oh awesome I thought that was you", we banter back and forth, confirmed the appt, then disconnected. I add this detail of the conversation because after waiting 40+ mins for her to see me the following Sat, Lindsay (receptionist) says that my phone number was not listed under Fiona but under Tiffany for 9:30 and that they stopped taking appts for Fiona two days ago. My number being listed for Saturday was proof that I called. My number being listed under Tiffany is proof that they made a mistake made because I do not ask for Tiffany. Lindsay definitely apologized but told me that Fiona said that I NEVER MADE THE APPOINTMENT WITH HER and this is when I immediately told Lindsay that Fiona wasn't telling the truth. Lindsay apologized again and we rescheduled for the following Sat. Part 2 The following Sat I'm finally in Fiona's chair. I showed her a photo of large 3D acrylic flowers. She did the first one and asked me if it was okay. I let her know that I wanted it to be a little bit bigger like the picture but before I was even done speaking, she SNATCHED the flower off of my nail with unreasonable force. I could tell that she knew she went too far because she seen my reaction and was quickly like "oh um I just have to make sure that I get it off so I can reapply". I didn't say anything. We move on. She finishes the petals but forgets the leaves so I remind her before she moves onto the next design. To my increasing surprise, she loudly asked "Why didn't you tell me?" I told her that the leaves are in the picture". No response, no apology. My last design called for a few different colors but this time when she got up to retrieve them, she made outburst/loud commentary while getting up and getting the different supplies. I was so uncomfortable watching other techs look up her then over at me while LAUGHING about it all. In the end, she knowingly retrieved a color different from what I asked and after asking if I liked it said "if you don't like the color you could just tell me" after putting on a whole show for the shop about getting up to get colors. I said that she did this purposely because it really seemed like she wanted to add to how much she physically had to get out of her chair to add to the dramatics. When she came back, I whispered to her (yes, whispered) if it was okay if we speak outside after the appointment to discuss my concerns. She said yes, we could speak outside and we finished up. The set turned out decent but afterwards she tells me that I should find someone else that can do a better job with long nails and that we can't go outside to talk because she has other customers. Then she says that if I have anything to say, I can talk about it inside the shop. ????????? I leave and end up calling. Lindsay answers the phone and is also expressing disinterest in my attempt to resolve this multitude of issues but decides that it would be best if I spoke to Fiona directly as she says that she cannot speak to Fiona's actions. She provides Fiona's phone number and tells me to reach out to her. I send Fiona an iMessage later that evening about why I actually wanted to talk while also thanking her for the set and she chose not to respond. That's how New Moon Nails decided to handle this customer service issue. I'm disgusted and moving on. read more

So I came here after 2 referrals, and this place is a hot mess! The place smelled like it was a restaurant in the back and this place was filthy. I made an appointment over 1 week before and it took them 30 minutes to get to me. They had these plexy shields at every station that were filthy dirty with stuff splattered on them, nail clippings all over, dust from nails everywhere. The drills and tools were not coming from sterile packages. I should have not stayed but this place is not using sterile tools and this could lead to spreading bacteria, fungal and infections diseases like Hep C. I will not come back here. Wanted a place that would do some fierce nails for my Halloween nun costume, and New Moon did an excellent job. They have tons of color choices in regular, gel, metallic, and even SNS dip. These are acrylic stilettos with black gel. Plenty of people working so there wasn't a wait for me at all. The girl was very excited to do designs! Shockingly, I managed not to break these, and went in after 3 weeks to get them removed(very quickly) for $5.
