I always serviced my car at New Meadows Auto Repair for years when I lived in Topsfield and they are the best! I have since moved from the area but found myself with a low tire pressure light on and happened to be in Topsfield so I headed over to New Meadows to see if they had time to check my tires. They checked my car and found a screw in the tire. They plugged it and took it for a test ride to reset the sensor and I was on my way in 20 minutes. Driving to visit a friend in South Hamilton, my car began making a strange noise. When I got to my friend's house, she said, "I'm calling my mechanic. He's great!" She called Scott, and I spoke with him about my problem. I drove my ailing car to his shop. He immediately put it up on the lift, diagnosed my issue, told me it wouldn't be safe to drive, and expressed regret that he didn't have time to fix it right away. (To me, that's a sign of a talented, honest mechanic: He's busy helping many clients.) I wound up calling AAA to tow it back to my mechanic in NH because I needed to repair the car sooner than Scott had openings. When I asked Scott what I owed him for his time, he smiled and said there was no charge, and that he was happy to help! Last November I purchased 4 20' GMC Chrome wheels and tires from EBay. Last week I brought them to New Meadows for Mount and Balance , knowing from past experience that these guys are the Best. The end of the day , Rob calls with news saying one of the brand new wheels is defective. I immediately contacted the seller on EBay, and the BS began. Oh it will be OK just put it on the rear it will be fine. With the information Rob provide me , I went straight for the throat. A picture from there Balance Machine with the Out of Tolerance Specs sent to the seller, they changed there mind real fast. A new wheel is being sent. Now if I took those same wheels to the average Joe's Service Station, the defective wheel would go unnoticed, thrown on , Pay Me and GTFO. Rob busted his ass trying to bring the wheel into spec and got it damn close, enough for a satisfactory ride till the new wheel shows up. Be careful coming to this shop, especially if you are a young female. They cannot be trusted not to take advantage of you. I almost paid $650 for a $250 repair. I brought my car in to get it looked at since the heat wasn't working in the cold winter. It turns out there was an issue with my radiator. I'm a female and they pressured me to agree to repairs (which seemed very expensive) right away. I said I needed my car that night and they said they had a loaner car for me to borrow. Two minutes later, as I'm talking to my father about the repairs, they call back to try and pressure me more. They wanted me to agree right away and not give me time to think or get a second opinion, because they knew they were being dishonest. I called two other shops asking for a quote for the same work. New Meadows Auto Repair was going to charge me almost 3x the amount that both shops were quoting me. I told New Meadows Auto Repair that I need my car back and I wasn't doing the repairs at their shop. read more

I was a service manager many moons ago and still pull my own wrenches, however age is catching up with me nor do I have the time to take on friends/families cars as much which is why I'm so grateful to find this place. There are a lot of dishonest hacks out there, not these guys! They don't try to upsell the hell out of ya, reasonably priced - not the most expensive or cheapest, but you'll get HONESTY which is peace of mind. You don't waste money on poor advice or incompetence, they are real technicians who diagnose it right. There's a reason why they're always booked, its called repeat customers... Just hope a replacement part doesn't fail! You'll end up paying for installation twice. I spent a lot of money with them getting my front end repaired. One of the repairs was the struts and ball joints. One of the ball joints failed 8,000 miles later. They replaced it, the supplier warrantied the part, so there wasn't a cost to me or them. However they charged ME for replacing it. They said someone had to absorb the labor cost for replacing the defective part and it wasn't going to be them. I don't understand their reasoning.They chose the place to buy the part, they chose the manufacturer. I paid them to install it, and align the car after doing it. When it failed they wanted to be paid AGAIN. Maybe this is legal but it's terrible customer service. They didn't tell me about the installation charge before they did it. If I had know that would be another $250 I would have had the mechanic who found the problem do the work. He would have gotten the part replaced under the warranty and would have charged much less for installing it. read more

This is a great place! My son was on his way back to college, U Maine, when he noticed he had an expired inspection sticker. He is not coming back until thanksgiving and he wanted to get it inspected in Maine. I explained must be done in Massachusetts! I googled up inspection stations near where he was located. I found New Meadows. I called them. I told them the situation and they said bring it over and we can do it for him now. Needed back up bulb to pass and they charged a great fair price.
