Lobster with ginger & Mixed seafood w Gai lan
D'Arcy L.

I've been here a few times with my relatives and this place is great for chinese! Dinner last night: We started off the dinner with Fish Maw soup! Great flavour and nice bits of crab and fish in the soup! Then we ordered a tofu with fish fillets over veg! This was great! Fish was deep fried but it didn't taste oily at all. Actually a nice light dish. We also ate Cantonese Chow mein and seafood with Gai lan. The SF with Gai lan had more Gai lan than seafood but this is usually the case! The highlight dish was lobster cooked cooked with ginger. The lobster was a bit on the smaller side (1lb or so). Great food with flavour and texture!

Takeaway schezuan chicken with rice, soup and egg roll + spicy deep fried chicken! MindBLOWING!!

New Kirin is the best place to have comfort food. Not much traffic around the place but thats because the place is bigger than the joints downtown and has a lot of parking space so you dont feel the crowd. Their take-away is almost magical and instantaneous, not to mention piping hot, tasty and total value for money.

My favourite (not so authentic) Chinese food restaurant in the city! I think it's priced reasonably well and their dishes are very tasty.

As others have mentioned, seating is somewhat limited, but that only adds to the excellent service and intimate experience. I wish I remembered the names of our server and the manager because they were incredibly kind, accommodating, and helpful throughout the evening. One example of the thoughtful service: I was torn between two white wines, and since my partner ordered one of them, our server offered to bring a small sample of the other so I could compare and choose what I liked best. We also mentioned that we had never tried caviar before but didn't want to commit to a larger portion. They suggested a "bump" for $5 each, walked us through how to enjoy it properly (on the hand, letting it warm slightly), and made the experience feel fun and approachable. We were seated at the bar, which gave us the opportunity to chat more with the server and manager and watch the team prepare dishes for other tables. It genuinely felt like sitting at the chef's table. We both opted for the tasting menu, which changes from time to time, and we were very happy with the selection. We also added the lobster roll, and our server thoughtfully timed it so we could enjoy it alongside the warmer course. The meal began with two different oysters, one topped with caviar, giving us another chance to enjoy it. Next was the shrimp cocktail, which included wasabi--but not in an overpowering way. The flavor was present yet balanced, allowing everything else to shine. The escargot course was especially creative and delicious, paired with basil oil, pepper jelly, and hints of balsamic. While it might sound unusual, the flavors blended beautifully. I expected the pepper jelly to dominate, but it was surprisingly subtle. Next was the potato pavé served with a scallop. The textures were remarkably similar, and the scallop was cooked perfectly. The lobster roll was very good, though I personally found the bread a bit denser than I prefer--I usually like a more buttery, Texas-toast style--but my partner loved it. The turbot followed, accompanied by a chestnut beurre blanc that was incredibly silky and flavorful. It paired wonderfully with the king trumpet mushrooms, black truffle and the fish. The final tasting course was the petit fours: three small cakes--matcha, red velvet, and ginger molasses. They were slightly dense, but still a nice way to end the meal. We also added the house-made basil ice cream (because the basil oil earlier was so good), and that was an excellent decision. Although my birthday had been a few months earlier, once the staff heard we were using a birthday gift card, they surprised me with vanilla ice cream, sprinkles, and a candle--such a thoughtful and unexpected touch. They also treated us to a small glass of dessert wine. By the end of the night, we knew we had found our new favorite place to celebrate. The overall experience is absolutely worth the price point, and I only wish more places were like Mink. We can't wait to return.

Our server tho was really nice and accommodating. Btw parking in across the street from the building** The place was very large and roomy (uncrowded). My fave of the dishes was the whipped ricotta with hot honey - just wish the bread that accompanied was just a bit more toasted but it still was really delicious. My daughter chose the kids fish and chips, I chose the Cobb salad and the rest of our table did shrimp or mahi mahi tacos. Everything was very tasty and I enjoyed my glass of rosé. Was nice to look out at the water while we ate. Would come back again if in the area!

They start you off with a petite loaf of savory garlic bread that is complimented with a creamy dollop of real butter. Of course we enjoyed the bread with a mint mojito and a glass of cab. Now the mojito wasn't quite sweet enough for my taste but the wine was crisp and flavorful. The lamb was the absolute best lamb we have ever tasted. The meat quality was excellent and the chef cooked it to perfection. Melt in your mouth and seasoned to perfection. The risotto was cheesy and the asparagus was fresh and crisp. The portion was large and a great value. The salmon was also perfectly cooked. The lemon balanced the dish out with the seasoning. This dish also came with the risotto and asparagus. I can't even say enough about the service! From the greeting at the door to every server who assisted our table, simply excellent We finished our evening splitting a creamy, sweet crème brûlée. The meal was $147 US and worth every penny and more! Don't sleep on this place! You won't find a better date night restaurant.

Just a fantastic dinner this evening with colleagues…read more Before the Detroit Pistons game, we got together for a nice, casual, seafood dinner as our own version of, "pregaming". Starting with the maître D, carried over to both the waitress and our table server, everyone was polite, courteous, and very attentive. Looking over the list of appetizers, we went with the calamari. About 10 minutes later, it showed up and as it turned out, the portion was good for the four of us. The calamari was not rubbery, but prepared exactly how you would want it. It has a bit of a kick to it, but not so much as to be overwhelming. Before the calamari they brought us a bread basket with four types of breads for us to dip into a bowl of delicious tasting sauce. Because this was a pregaming event, we had to include a cocktail with our dinner. Two of us went with a Woodford reserve old-fashion made to perfection. There's quite a few choices of entrées to choose from and being this is a seafood restaurant I went with the servers recommendation and chose the "Dover". As part of the experience, they fillet the fish right in front of you. A nice touch. The fish was out of this world good. Flaky white meat, with enough there to fill you up. Even with the filleting experience, they did miss a bone. But that happens. No problem. With a choice of sides I went with the steamed spinach. A rather small portion, but it was very good. For the price you would've expected more. Beautiful view of the water looking over towards Canada. If ever in town again, this is a place I would return to.

The restaurant is spacious and happy hour is only available at the bar, which has plenty of room. Everything seemed clean and well kept. Great spot to relax and enjoy some seafood.
