I don't know why the bad reviews, I've enjoyed this place every time I have been in. There is usually one young gentleman manning the phone and serving the tables, he is efficient and pleasant - he even remembered my fiancé's order after one visit. The crab rangoons are very good, lots of flavor and not greasy. The wonton soup is very tasty. The Fuji Yama salad is my absolute favorite - chopped sushi fish and crab with a spicy sauce. The Singapore chow fun is spicy and has plenty of shrimp and meat. The egg rolls are excellent, not greasy. The general tso's chicken is nice chicken, I do the friend rice with it and it's good. read more

The food was okay, but one might be better off going to a buffet. The waiter criticized us by telling us we ordered a lot and continued to mention something about the quantity of food every-time he brought a dish out. Also, the timing of the food was off. The restaurant brought out one dish at one point and it wasn't til minutes later the next came out. Appetizers came last. They also gave us the wrong bill which we had to correct. The food is good, but the customer service has a lot to be desired. Last night we ordered dinner it was busy which would be totally understandable due to New Years Eve. When we go pick it up ok another half hour no problem. 1 hour goes by to give more time, when we call "we have no order under this phone number maybe you called other place". So I get on the phone I'm like we ordered this food 2 1/2 hours ago and now you tell me you have no order with our number? She's like you still want we make it 15 mins, so when I get there I said you made us wait 3 hours basically and then say we have number for this order? Then proceed to laugh in my face and which made me blow my top, which I never really do. Then you can't even apologize or even offer a discount for your mistake? Needless to say I won't be ordering from this place EVER AGAIN! Customers always come first and not to be laughed at, that's why I said to her it's not funny when she laughed in my face! My family put our order in a noon for a 6pm pickup. We got there at 6:05pm. There were 14 people in line. No one came out to call you if your order was ready. Instead you stood inline until it was your turn to go in. Even if your order wasn't ready. The first person went in, 10 minutes go by he comes out, says "my food wasn't ready so I just waited." After 40 minutes we just left along with others. Absolutely terrible service. Drove by and food in paper bags is just sitting on the tables. read more

Food is sub par. Service has been horrible they need to hire more then one person to work there I have eaten in several times and it has taken more then an hr to get my food. They had 1 person waiting/bussing tables, prepping take out orders , answering the phone, checking out pick ups ect. And I think they only have 1 chef for both Chinese and sushi. This is the only n Chinese place I have ever order from for pick that I have been told 30 min and still had to wait anther 20 once I got there for my food. They consistently forget/ mix up my order. Concerning health code violations. My friends and I got a bunch of Chinese and sushi takeout this past Saturday. When we began eating it, I found a staple on top of one of my pieces of sushi. A few minutes later, my friend found a staple stuck in the rice in one of the pieces of her roll. After that, we decided to call and say what happened. The hostess who answered our phone call was very nice. She was communicating with a man named "Yen", who I'm assuming is the owner, about our issue. She didn't put us on hold so we could hear the conversation. Yen had her ask if we wanted them to do anything. We asked for the sushi to be refunded. He wouldn't do that, but he offered 15% off the next time we ordered. We let them know that the chances of us ordering from there again are very slim and this is something that should be taken much more seriously. Very disappointed with the way this was handled. My mom was planning on ordering a bunch of sushi from there for Christmas Eve, but after this, she's changed her mind. Can't see myself ordering from there anytime soon if ever again. read more

I have been going to King Yen in Agawam since it opened , I grew up and lived in Agawam most of my life , we moved to Granby CT and the Southwick one was closer to me so I figured I would try it - Its the same family BOY WAS I WRONG - All I ordered was Spring Rolls and Scallion Pancake and I got Chicken Fingers and some rock hard thing which didn't even resemble what I ordered. I tried to call them back to tell them to refund my card I wasn't driving back there and they didn't even answer the phone ( it was 7pm they were open) I then called the Agawam King Yen to be told we have nothing to do with Southwick we sold that one. As far as Chinese take out goes, this is my favorite place in the area. The food is always good and the service is friendly. We have eaten in a few times and it has always been pleasant. I love that it is one of the only places around that still brings you a pot of tea and those fried crunchy things. Love the sweet and sour chicken and the Mai Fun noodles. read more

If i could give ZERO stars... i would. this place has given me food poisoning, not once but TWICE. each time i have been sick for two days or more with severe vomiting. the first time i had just returned from out of the country, so i attributed my sickness to that experience. but being sick for the second time the day after eating here, i know for a fact it was bad sushi. The only reason they are getting two stars is because of their crab rangoons. I have to admit they are pretty delicious. I live right up the street and was going there quite frequently. It always annoyed me that the server/manager girl that is always there never smiled or acted like she remembered me even though i was there often. After the last two visits i will not be returning... Ever! The second to last time i was there i got the seafood soup, i think they call it Shan Shan soup. The shrimp and scallops in it were very obviously going bad. I didn't complain because i had gotten take out and didn't want to make a big deal by calling and complaining. The last time I was there I ordered the Hunan Shrimp. I asked the server how it was and she said "spicy and sweet" which didn't tell me anything that the menu didn't tell me already. When i received it, the dish was beautiful. When I went to eat a shrimp i realized they were all stuck together with a hard sugar substance. I tapped my fork on it and it made a sound like glass. I managed to separate one from the pile and tried to take a bite. My teeth stuck in the sugar like a candy apple. I stopped eating because i'm pretty sure i would have lost a crown. When the manager/server girl came back she didn't ask how it was. Just asked if i wanted it wrapped. I told her it was way too hard like candy and she said "yes, thats what i tell you". I used to go to King Yen in Agawam, MA but when King Yen too opened I started going to the Southwick location because it was closer. I know that the 2 restaurants used to be owned by the same family, but I don't think the Southwick location is anymore. I say this because I haven't seen the same family members at this location, it's as everyone is different, the sushi is a new-ish thing and the food taste has changed somewhat. I love their chicken and beef and broccoli, won-ton soup, beef teriyaki (not chicken *shudder*) and egg rolls. I have never tried their sushi/sashimi. I have eaten at this location since it has opened over a decade ago. read more
