Pistachio cardamom cake slice and Earl grey sticky bun
    Noelle W.

Love this bake shop! I went with a friend early on a weekend morning to get earl gray sticky buns. We had to stare at everything on the counter and in the window for a good few minutes because everything was gorgeous and i decided to get a slice of pistachio cardamom cake and 2 cookies as well. The shop is small (there were some seats outside but it was chilly) so we got our treats to go. The bun was amazing and I devoured mine very quickly - it wasn't too sweet or sticky. The cake slice was nice and I snacked on the cookies for the next few days because they were huge! My friend got the cinnamon bun and loved those as well as the cookies and tahini cheesecake. I love this place and can't wait to come back and try more delicious beautiful treats!

Place was nice and bright. Plenty of seating. So many things looked tasty but I got two pain aux raisins, an eclair, a merveilleux, and 4 mini choux pastries (2 for $1). The total came to $24. Pain aux raisin was good but not the best I've ever had. Would have liked them to be slightly thicker and crispier. Plenty of raisins though. Crème pâtissière was fantastic. Eclair was thin and dainty. I got this for my son as a safe bet. I tried a piece and I was so delighted to find it was filled with a chocolate pudding type of filling. The mini choux pastries were an impulse buy. I got enough for everyone in the car ride home to try. Delicious and delicate one bite treat. The merveilleux was a blind buy. Read a review that raved about it so I gave it a try. I didn't even know what to expect. It's crispy meringue covered in cream and crushed speculoos cookies. It's so heavenly! 2/3 of us liked the merveilleux the best and one of us liked the pain aux raisin the best. Come here if you're looking for something really special

I stopped in around 8 AM and their pastries were FRESH. The baguette was still warm to the touch. Swoon. I'd recommend the cinnamon rolls! -- The Sugary offers a variety of desserts ranging from cookies, cakes, muffins, and cupcakes. There are also a variety of "birthday/celebration items," like cards and candles. The interior is small, with one table, but very clean and well-decorated. The service is quick and conducive for to-go orders and they accept credit card. As there is only one register, if there is a line, it may take a while. When I was there, I was in and out in about 5 minutes. I ordered the cheesecake, rainbow cookie, and cinnamon roll. These were all so delicious and I'll be back soon for more! The cheesecake was decadent but had depth to its flavor and the crust was thick and solid. I really enjoyed the slice and it was large enough to be shared, so I felt the price was spot on for the value. The rainbow cookie was one of the best I've ever had, with its rich chocolate flavor, and was an elevated version of ones I've had in the past. Lastly, the cinnamon roll was a bit too sweet for me, but otherwise it was what I'd call "a perfect cinnamon roll." Fluffy, cinnamon-forward, and with lots of icing! I'd highly recommend The Sugary for any sweet treat cravings, but only if you have no allergies or dietary restrictions. They offer custom desserts but there is a disclaimer of cross-contamination risk.

I opted for their tiramisu as I was drawn to the adorable packaging. And as it turns out, there's more to it than meets the eye since it also tasted pretty good. I liked that it was only subtly sweet and pretty light and creamy. I didn't taste too much coffee rum in it, despite the warning about the alcohol content. This tiny shop closes around 3pm on Sundays, so make sure you go there soon enough in the day so that you can give their delectable sweets a try.

I walked right up and ordered - you can look through the window at the pastries - and order which ones you would like. I immediately noticed these 'large' cakes (large compared to the pastries) and asked what they were - Pound Cakes - Lemon and Lavender. I opted for the Lavender. This was a 'simple' cake - a little icing on the top, and a very subtle lavender taste. It was moist and rich, but not too dense - perfect texture. It was a very enjoyable piece of cake. I may try the Lemon Pound cake next time. Next, was the Plum Almond Tarte - it looked amazing. The exterior was browned and had a delicious caramelized crunch to it. I could immediately taste the plum topping as I crunched on a few almonds. However, once I got to the interior of the tart, it was soggy - too moist. I don't think it's supposed to be that way - but it made the tart difficult to eat. It was very tasty, but the sogginess really detracted from the texture. There's an attached picture of the middle of the tart. I thought I would get a cookie and they had 4 choices - I chose the Molasses. It has been a LONG time since I had a molasses cookie. This one had a soft homemade texture - it was sprinkled with sugar. The deep taste of molasses came through immediately and left a delightful little 'bite' like fresh ginger or cloves might do. It was a great cookie. I saw some macaroons in the front of the window - plain and chocolate chip - I got the plain. I'm used to the 'store bought' macaroons-with finally chopped coconut and a soft creamy texture. This was NOT the Manishewitz coconut macaroon I grew up with....good thing! This was a 'real' macaroon - the coconut was shredded a longer length and had true texture. The cookie has a crispy exterior and a chewy coconut interior. I also ordered a mini tarte - the Pear Pistachio Tarte. It was covered in a pistachio crumble and a pear topping, with a pistachio custard filling, which had a reasonable consistency, unlike the Plum Almond. I'm a big pistachio lover and this little tart was yummy - the combination of nutty and fruity came out really well. Last, but not least, is the Apricot Financier. This is a very different pastry - moist - with a very subtle almond taste. There's a very small slice of apricot (I wish there would have been more) which added a nice fresh fruity chew to the light cake. While the cake tasted fine, it needed 'something' more. I'll be returning to Tarte - most likely for the pound cakes and a few cookies!

I was traveling in the middle of a nor'easter and looking for decent breakfast and good coffee. I figured a place called Paris Baguette would do the trick, but it was I who was tricked. The espresso does not come from an espresso machine, but from a corporate-sized Kureg machine. The coffee was utterly tasteless and a waste of my time. When I asked for a breakfast sandwich, I was told they were all in the cooler. Normally, I would have walked away at that point, but it was cold and rainy, and I was hungry. Sadly, it would have been a more pleasant experience to go out in the cold and rain, catch a cold, and be home in bed for a week. The food was as expected. It had no flavor except for enough sodium for a week, in a clear attempt to cover the fact that it had no real taste. I will chalk this place up to expedience, but I have learned my lesson. Look, if you can't make a legit espresso or make a basic breakfast sandwich to order, get out of the business. In fact, go sit on a mountain for the rest of your life and think about what you've done.

The drink was refreshing and tart, but I'm not sure I would order it again because I found myself wanting it to be a tad sweeter. The tomato tart was great! It's definitely tomato-dominant, which I know sounds obvious, but I was worried there would be too much cheese. The crust is flaky, and it was overall balanced.
