I will never come back to this place again to buy beef jerky or anything. The two ladies who work there are not honest at all. They act very nice and friendly, but it's for a reason. this place is located inside a supermarket. When you start looking around all the staff will help you with what you want. You can ask for a small sample before buying it. I got the pork jerky which is close 21.00 a pound. Expensive but worth the money. They have so much for you to chose from it's hard to decide. I do find their other items expensive, so maybe i'll come back when i get my next paycheck. I will love the try their other items. read more

If you love jerky, this place is nirvana. I can take it, or leave it, but I bought some for my sister who lives for jerky. They have maybe a hundred varieties, including some very exotic types such as deer jerky. I've noticed people complain about no English spoken. I've never had that problem, I always get my point across. Even if the person there that day didn't speak English or any other language you might speak, its pretty straight forward. Everything is clearly labeled, and priced. All you have to do is point. The sales lady was very nice to me, she gave me several free samples. It's too expensive for me to get into it. The same amount of money will go a lot further for some other less costly treat. But I'm sure it's a good value if you like dried meat. read more

New owners now, but same merchandise. The old owners used to go out of their way with the customer service (free water, free pound of your choice for every 10 pounds purchased, eager to have you sample something new, sometimes free candy), but they used to overstuff the bags and I'd have to keep an eye on them. I used to buy in quantity to send to relatives in another state so they were always happy to see me. Checked out the review was not bad. So I called to see where this place was. Lady on the phone does not speak english or cantonese. She only speak mandarin. She called another person to help her with little english. She told me the same thing as I googled the address. No use so I had drive over there and find the place. Walked around and did not see the name. Went in the market and asked its over the other end of the market. Got there finally. I nice girl offered me some green tea thats nice. I asked her if she speaks cantonese and she keeps talking in mandarin. Called another lady to help ok. I was looking for salted plum. So I tried a few to my likings. I found the one and asked for 1 lb. thats $10. Ok to the next item. The beef jerky section. The lady was nice but be warned she was too nice. I only asked for 1 lb. thats $20 already. I go to the cashier and say 50 something. I say WTF in my head. I told her I only had a 1 lb. of salted plum for $10 a 1lb.and beef jerky for $20 a lb. . I think she put more thank a lb. in the bag. Both woman looking at each other dumb. I told her to take out the rest of the beef jerk I did not asked for. Weighed the beef jerky again and I looked this time. Left upset. They think they can lie to people like that. My face does not look asian at all. But it should not matter how you look or dressed to be taken advantage of. I find it so hard to find places that are good all around. So, here's another example. The products here are pretty good and tasty, but you may be played a little along the way or hustled, depending on the era from which you hail. Primarily, they offer jerky of a bunch of varieties. While you may be used to the beef jerky that is more common place at grocery stores and convenience stores, the jerkies here are quite different. Most have been dehydrated by some process or another, but there is more of an emphasis on spicing and marinating the meats. While the normal jerky in American stores is dehydrated, smoked and seasoned with primarily salt and pepper and some other spices, these jerkies can be of the dry and slightly more moist variety. In addition, they also offer different meats instead of just beef and occasionally bison. They also offer pork which is red in color, sweeter and savory at the same time and much more moist than your typical jerky. The beef also comes in a more moist variety which has a sweet fruity taste to it. I tend to be partial to the drier more "curry" flavored beef jerky. However, on top of this, they also have a variety of sea animals that have been jerkified for your pleasure. Squid and fish are a couple of other animals that they have dehydrated for your dining pleasure. I didn't actually try the squid and fish here. Used to be able to eat the dehydrated sea animals, but as I grew into adulthood, their more "fishy" taste is less and less appealing to me. The great part about this place is that they are more than happy for you to sample any of their mummified meats. I've always been partial to the drier form of beef jerky and the moist red pork jerky, and both of these did not disappoint. The more moist beef jerky was also good, but the slightly fruity taste was a little disarming to me. It almost had the taste of the dried plums. We also picked up some dehydrated tofu which was also a nice change, though not as flavorful as the beef. So, here's the hustle/played part and something you will need to prepare for before you come in. The ladies there (one taller alpha and a smaller beta) were very nice and complimentary, but they do hustle you a little when it comes to buying their products. For instance, when we decided on the jerkies that we wanted, they just started to bag the items without asking how much we wanted. I'm still not sure how much we ended up buying. As a warning, the items are pricey and you can quickly spend $100 on snacks, but if you're a player than that's how you should roll. There's also a bit of the sleight of hand trickery here. While the one lady was busy helping us pick the items, the other lady was running around bagging everything. So things get bagged up quickly before you realize that they put a pound of product in when you might have only wanted half a pound. Like I said, they were very nice and helpful, but you should be clear about what you want and how much you want, otherwise you may end up spending more than you wanted. Also, at the end, when we were getting the dried tofu "jerky", we said we wanted only like a pound, but the container they had was around 2 pounds or so. The lady kept saying "Oh just take it since it's only 2 pounds", so we ended up getting the entire two pounds when we only wanted 1 pound (This conversation was of course in Mandarin). So, a little used-car salesman tactic on the way out. I checked my pant pockets twice upon leaving the store to make sure I didn't get fleeced along the way, though of course, I had already been in the store. So, if you enjoy a different kind of jerky (which you really should try at least once in your life because it will change your perception of what jerky can be), and you don't mind being played by a couple of older Chinese ladies, you should give this place a try. Sitting at home, everything tastes good, and the only that hurts a little is your pocketbook and perhaps a little bit of your pride as a grown man was played by a couple of nice older Chinese ladies. Bravo bravo to you both for the show. Think of the experience as a dinner theater experience, you get a bit of food which ain't half bad and you get the well-orchestrated Chinese hustle that is this particular pack of Chinese ladies. read more

In LA for business. I was told that I have to try this place. Read a couple of reviews. People seems to think it is good but expensive. Beef/pork jerky which is dehydrated meat with spices and molasses is expensive to make. So. The $20 a pound price is acceptable to me. This is the fresh stuff. Not the Walmart in a sealed plastic sleeve some kind of dried up preserved meat thingee. I am from the NY area. There is this beef jerky from NY china town that I grew up with. I think that is like the ultimate. This place is not far behind. It's a little bit sweeter than the NY jerky. Which is ok. Flavor is great. Texture is great. 5 star all the way. read more

I give this place 1 star only because of their customer service. I used to buy jerky here at least 3 times a yr. But the old ladies are so annoying. Every time I want to buy a certain amount they always add 50% more on top when i said I only want 1lb. Then they get upset and give me this stupid look on their faces. Then they want me to try this tea even when i repeatly say no. They dont seem to understand that no means NO!!!!! Then again they give me this stupid look. These old ladies are stupid. I usually don't have any issues with this company. I come from Chicago and I spend a minimum of $300 everytime. This time, I spent $400 and they gave me nothing for free. No big deal but when I ask for a pound of something, I expect a pound a just a little bit over/under. They gave me 1.8 pounds and I told them about it. They told me its just a little bit over. Almost another pound is a little bit over?? When I asked her to take some back out, she told me she already sealed the bag and it was too late. Seriously? Thats how they sneak more to people so they make more? Never again! read more
