    3lbs sliced beef.
    Cindy Z.

Just a quick update: The price has increased to $20 per tray for 3lbs of sliced beef. Despite the $5 increase, you're still getting an amazing deal here. Perfect place for your shabu, kbbq, and gyudon needs!

You must have space and time to clean and slice with a meat slicer. Beef (3lbs for $20, 07/27/2020).

Ask for pork. He actually has pork! If you can't speak Mandarin, but the Mr. doesn't speak or understand Cantonese, show him the google translation for "pork". Hahaha! I did this and he brought out about a 1.5 lb container of sliced thin pork. I asked, "how much?". "$10", he said. Doesn't hurt to try and ask if you don't understand Mandarin. Next time for pork.

First time here, recommended by friend. Great Shabu shabu meats: $20 for 3lb beef and $22 for lamb. Highly recommended

$20 for 3 lbs of beef. Great quality, too. Must have for hot pot dinners. No complaints here.

And their signage is entirely in Chinese so hopefully you speak Mandarin, don't know how they deal with English.

Inside is still the same though, not much updates there. Plenty of parking since this is located in such a huge plaza, so huge in fact that I would rather opt to park here than many of the other plazas within walking distance. So huge that I saw a dude practice basketball here at night without a basketball hoop in sight. Iconic and I hope he's balling out there, wherever he may be. There's security at the front and a good number of cashiers open so despite how crowded it is (at least on a Thursday mid morning), I was checked out quite efficiently. Like many other 99 Ranch, there's a bakery, hot foods area, seafood, butcher, and much more. It's not the cleanest, as I did see some wilted, not the freshest produce and some flies here and there (as well as some of the baked goods looking mushed into bags), but not outwardly awful. The variety isn't as good as I thought it would be, at least in comparison to my home 99 Ranch, but I was able to at least find some giftable chili oil. Not bad for a quick stop, but definitely do some price comparisons since there's lots of Asian markets nearby.

It's been a nice way to snag some groceries when we're finished. There's something about the layout of this store that bothers me a little? But I think it's just the produce section being a little cramped. Great, wide selection of products. And I saw some ribeyes on sale that looked like really great cuts on my last visit here.

Sandwiches start at just $4.99 and they use Boar's Head meats, which already puts it above your typical grocery store sandwich. You can choose from their preset options or build your own. I went with a turkey sandwich on sourdough with all the add-ons, and everything tasted fresh and satisfying. They'll even toast the bread for you, which makes a big difference. What really stood out is the value--you can load up your sandwich and still keep it under $10. They also have combo options where you can get a drink and a bag of chips for $5.99, making it an easy and affordable meal. Quick, convenient, and budget-friendly. Definitely a good spot if you're in the area and need a simple lunch.

See hilarious review below by Robert H!…read more I would like to add my 2 cents on the sandwich situation, which depending on the time of the day you hit up the deli, can be very dire. The older Hispanic ladies who make the sandwiches in the morning = amazing. Love them. They are warm, kind, quick, and attention-detailed. The sandwiches they make? Literally chef's kiss! Heaven on earth! Now onto the men who the make the sandwiches later in the day. Complete night and day. Watching them make sandwiches is like watching Down Syndrome people compete in the Special Olympics or the infants race in those baby crawl races. No directions, no focus, no sense of urgency. Think of the slothes working at the DMV from Zootopia. They talk to each other. They stare at the sandwich order print outs. They make the sandwiches haphazardly. And they still get the sandwiches wrong! How can you make sandwiches wrong when the pace has been so leisurely?? In conclusion, can Sprouts please please please, for the love of God (or the universe if you're an atheist), hire more ladies to work during the lunch times and evening times?!

Once inside, you still need to take a number and wait to order sashimi. I guess most moms want sashimi for Mother's Day? Pre-ordered trays can be picked up at the front counter. BUT, the big news (to me at least) is that Yama will be expanding and taking the space next door that used to be Thai Paradise. They plan to have seating and this should also alleviate the issue like today where they just can't let everyone inside due to limited space.

On the left side, you will find fridges full of premade rolls and some cooked foods. Head towards the back and you will find the sashimi counter. Pick the pieces of fish that you want and they will cut and package for you. There is a very nice Asian gentleman who works behind the sashimi counter, and he actually taught me how to spot a good piece of sashimi! The premade sushi is on a first come first serve basis, so once they sell out then it's done for the day. Here are my usual picks: California Rolls- Yama is known for this Spicy tuna Rolls- Bite sized, perfectly seasoned tuna Albacore sashimi- surprisingly, this is in the fridge, not the sashimi counter Chicken karaage- The mayo based dipping sauce is unique but delicious Salmon, yellowtail, otoro sashimi- Perfect sliced pieces of high quality fish Right now it is just grab and go. But they are expanding to the space next door to provide seating and possibly hot foods. They also have a great selection of party platters, but orders must be placed in advance. Check their website or call the store for details and availability. Pro tip: if you have a long drive home, ask for a bag of ice from the cashier to keep the food cold.

Cursory look, it appears well organized & clean but today, there was this awful smell when I walked in. It might've been a regional delicacy that they're selling or serving in some stall but I had soon forgotten it when I explored the market. What brought me so much joy is the fact that they sell fresh star apple for $10.99/lb, albeit expensive, but exists HERE!!! I bought a couple to try. I hope I am not gonna be disappointed, but, heck, it was worth a try no matter what. I didn't get to visit all the departments but will definitely return to check it out. Please photos & videos of the things that I encountered during this visit. I bought veggies, fish balls, tofu, snacks, etc Great visit. We initially had a little difficulty finding it.. we were following WAZE, but the signs on the outside of the bldg all said SF Supermarket. Since the location matched, we decided to park and head inside. OhMyGosh! This store should have its own zip code.. it's huge! And like many other Asian markets we frequent, there are "stores within the store".. but this place is on another level! The layout is simple to maneuver, produce prices are marked well with digital signs.. I just wish that the veggies and herbs were labeled a little better for my novice eyes. I found 5 different items all called "mint", with no labels on the individual packages. I wanted to buy Vietnamese Lemon Mint (Kinh Gioi), Spicy Mint (Hung Cay), Perilla Leaves/Shiso (Lá Tía Tô) and had to ask a couple of employees for help to identify the right items. Everyone was really friendly and did their best to help me out! I never did find the Thai basil, but to be honest that was me forgetting because I was just overwhelmed with the great selection and pricing for everything! I need to learn to cook all of those beautiful green veggies.. I felt healthier just standing among them! The store is extremely well stocked and they keep it clean. I wasn't picking up any funky odors that you find at some markets.. I know my eyes saw hundreds of products that I never knew existed! I need to be adopted into a Vietnamese family for a month to learn about ALL of it! We noticed that prices for items we regularly buy at 99 Ranch, Galleria Market, Mitsuwa and even 168 Market were less expensive here, and the quality of the fish and produce were outstanding! My only complaint is that it's so far away from my home.. People of San Gabriel, it is with love that I tell you I hope you all know how spoiled you are to not only have SO many amazing Asian restaurants available in your area.. the markets are also incredible, too! I'm bookmarking the store and will be back again and again when I find myself even remotely nearby.
