My only disappointment is that they only serve breakfast and lunch, and not dinner. It is a culinary teaching program, and they have limited hours. Their Spring 2025 semester is closing soon on May 15, 2025. It is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 A.M. to 3 P.M. Breakfast is served from 8:30 am to 10:30 am Lunch from 9 am to 2 pm. Twenty-four of us had our monthly luncheon there in April. Everyone raved about their order, and many have been back since bringing their friends. Downtown Riverhead is welcoming to shoppers with ample free municipal parking and increased security. The facility is accessible through the rear door adjacent to the Municipal lot behind 20 Main Street. Our group asked to come back in May. The staff is friendly, the food terrific, and the facility clean. If you walk towards the rear entrance, you will see students working with their teachers. The entire kitchen is on view. Once you place your order, you can wait in the adjacent room looking over Main Street. Staff will bring your order to your table. I failed to mention their selection of desserts and gelato. Not all cakes are available daily since the students learn to bake specific cakes as part of the curriculum. They make a flourless chocolate cake, which is amazing. Their days of operation follow the schedule of Suffolk County Community College.

My boyfriend and I wanted to try a cooking class for our anniversary, but the costs for going to a public cooking class are often very high. My boyfriend stumbled upon Jesse's website and it seemed really cool (and has pretty pictures), so he reached out. Jesse responds really quickly and we were lucky to secure a time slot for the weekend. Jesse offered to have a quick chat with us over the phone so he could come up with a customized menu for us and set expectations. For example, I don't eat seafood, so Jesse took that into account and made sure there wasn't a shrimp dish. Eventually, we landed on a Mexican taco menu (which was appropriate since Jesse is a master of tacos) because we wanted a menu that we could then easily take and make all the recipes ourselves. Jesse arrived promptly on time and set up his many kitchen tools and supplies in our kitchen. It's great that he can come to you! He was able to adapt easily to our kitchen set-up and get started. He started off with making us a salsa and guacamole so we could nibble as he gave us a ton of fun facts about cooking / food and prepped the other courses. He prints out his recipes so you can take notes as he goes along. The whole thing is very conversational, you never feel like he's talking AT you, but with you. You can ask him questions at any time. I never felt overwhelmed or felt like anything he was making or explaining was too difficult for me. In addition, I learned how to properly cut an onion and how to press tortillas. He had asked us beforehand if we wanted to be more hands-on, so he showed us how to cut the onion or press the tortillas and then we went ahead and helped with the prep. Not only was Jesse super knowledgeable and patient, the food he made was delicious. He even cleans up after cooking, which is a mega bonus! We had enough leftovers for another meal the next day. After taking his private cooking class, we both feel empowered and enthusiastic to learn and cook more. :) I definitely would work with The Maker's Kitchen again. His prices are extremely reasonable for the value you get, you get a very personalized experience (you're not lost in a class of 30), and he's a cool dude. You will learn a lot. You can tell that food is definitely his passion and that he's just trying to do what he loves to do (and educating others so that they hopefully can feel the same!). It's awesome! Thanks Jesse!

In 1968 popular musician Skitch Henderson and his wife Ruth purchased the property as a personal retreat. The couple hosted musical performances, art exhibitions, and cooking demonstrations led by prominent chefs. In later years nonprofit and national historic landmark status was established for the property. ATMOSPHERE: Events take place in a repurposed post and beam barn. The beams are exposed, giving a rustic charm. EXPERIENCE: Alessandro Piovezahn, the current steward of the nonprofit property, is actively looking to revive the Silo's influential public events. I enjoyed an intimate concert that featured the work of a five-time Emmy-award winning composer Jeff Beal. A legendary Steinway piano brought his music to life. A reception in the barn preceded the concert, with food prepared by Chef Constantine (Dino) Kolitsas of New Milford's Greca Mediterranean Kitchen & Bar I also enjoyed an evening cooking class with Chef Carlos Perez of Litchfield's At the Corner restaurant. In the course of the three hour class we were guided on culinary techniques by Chef Carlos Perez and his former colleague Chef Billy Ross (now at New Milford's Greca). I greatly enjoyed learning how to make a thoughtful fall menu that includes popular dishes served At the Corner, and dining on the co-prepared dishes with fellow foodie community members. Given limited of 16 registrants, everyone was active. I already registered for another class with Chef Billy Ross. SELECTION: Classes representing a variety of cuisines and dish types are available, including gingerbread house-making, pasta, and risotto. TIPS: Check the farm's Facebook and Instagram accounts for event schedule. The class + dinner and cocktail was $125 per person. The Silo will host a winter farmers' market this year.

I had signed up for a Saturday morning cooking class 7/3 as a gift to my wife, but had an emergency that prohibited us from attending class. My wife called the school that morning and was told it would be no problem as we could select another class over the summer. I took them at their word, but after leaving FOUR voicemail messages spanning three weeks, no one bothered to return my call. I stopped by the school and left a message with a gentleman teaching a cooking class to please return my calls, but again I was never called back. Having exhausted attempts to reach the school to schedule another class, I decided to contest the $300 charge with my credit card co for the class I could not attend. Here it is 9/29 and the proprietor has not yet reached out to me, but has decided to keep my money stating the terms and conditions. I find this business lacks ethics for a small town like New Milford. Buyers beware! Please note the 9/17 call/message was not returned.

I will say that the pace was a bit quicker than my last class, as there was much more to get done, but we kept up, giggles and all. Everything was prepared for us from start to finish. After cooking, we sat, ate, and were pleasantly surprised to find that, after guessing the right amount of seasoning for our produce and meat, we ended up seasoning everything perfectly to our taste. We look forward to taking more classes and inviting a few more friends to join us.

When you arrive you go into the dining area and before you begin cooking there are complimentary appetizers and wine served! It was so nice ! For my next class I wanted to take something easy and fun so I did the mozzarella and pizza class. That particular class had about 40 people attending .All the chefs were great and kept everyone engage! Recently I attended the class .. Scarpinocc pasta with brown butter and sage sauce and lemon Panacotta but after arriving we learned the initial menu slightly changed . Instead we made ravioli with impastata cheese and fresh chopped tomatoes and basil , also Vanilla honey Panacotta. It all turned out wonderful. When first arriving we had complimentary mimosas and appetizers of riceballs and chicken. This being my first time making ravioli I was very excited ! It was an amazing time and everything we made came out delicious! Along with our meal we were also served a delicious ,freshly made salad with feta cheese ! I'm now looking on their calendar to see what else peaks my interest. Will definitely be taking another class soon ! Thank you to all the wonderful and talented chefs ! Jenna is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and has great tips and tricks for the experienced cook and patience for those of us who struggle to use a stove knob. Her recipes are prepared beforehand based on your tastes and are really healthy, delicious, and easy to prepare. I felt like I was on a cooking show. Her kitchen is professional and well-stocked with tools. She is a great conversationalist and keeps the session moving at the right pace, based on the meals you are preparing. This was worth every penny and I highly recommend Cook Learn Live, and Jenna, specifically.

The class was not only educational, it was a lot of fun, and definitely a great reprieve from my typical Sunday afternoons spent studying in front of a computer. Jenna did a great job of overseeing the prepping and cooking of the four dishes we had on the menu for the night. I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to manage a kitchen full of amateur chefs (half of whom rarely cook at home)...but somehow she managed to do it with grace! Jenna was extremely patient with and open to all of our questions as well. In particular, I thought she did a great job of incorporating the 'why' behind her answers to questions like: What ingredients do you always have on hand? How do you know which spices go well together? What goes into a vegetable stock? I really appreciated how Jenna tailored the class specifically for a group of grad students, focusing on: increasing the nutritional value of our meals, saving time in the kitchen, and all the while cutting down on costs. Three things that I know I DEFINITELY need to do more of! I walked away from the class with an arsenal of new cooking tips, a full belly (plus a few containers of leftovers), and a packet of recipes from the class. Three hours very, very well spent! Thanks for all of your cooking tips, Jenna! For anyone interested in learning how to eat healthier or to be more effective in the kitchen, I would highly, highly recommend her classes!
