That having been said! I am a huge new fan of New Flower!!! John pierced my nipple (yeah, just one of 'em; asymmetrical and proud!) and he did an awesome, awesome job. He asked all the important questions but spread them out so I didn't feel interrogated or quizzed, so he knew that it was my first non-ear piercing (as well as my first piercing in a WHILE). I totally got the vibe that he was willing to go as slowly as necessary if I was having anxiety or second thoughts, but once I communicated that I was ready to "bring it on," he totally rolled with that too. I love that they have an online appointment system; I made my appointment the night before and walked in the next day completely expected! Which was nice. I always feel a little bit weird having to explain from scratch what I'm in a studio for. Let's see. The studio was super clean and I think the whole sterilization process was even more thorough than I've seen at Somatic during previous piercing sessions. I didn't feel at all weird at any point in the night, which is saying something, considering I was half-naked for like. Most of it. And for the record. Piercing my nipple hurt like a fucking goddamn bitch holy god. So don't believe anyone who tells you it won't; the first day effing sucks. VANESSA & SELENE ARE MY HEROES. Why? OK, here's the story. I got my nose pierced with my cousin at a swapmeet... (YEAH, OK, NOT THE BEST IDEA, I KNOW) in January. I thought everything was healed enough to finally transition from a stud to a hoop. So I visit the same place I got pierced at to get said hoop. Once I get there, the piercer tells me the only size he has for a hoop is an 18g like the one I have on. So he takes out my old stud...it hurts and I see blood on the cotton swab. (It's been 4 months so that shouldn't happen?) He then shoved in a hoop that is clearly thicker than my old gauge, so it felt like I was getting re-pierced. Anyway, he told me I would get used to it...and to do some sort of aspirin treatment for 2 weeks. By now, my cousin is looking at my new hoop that doesn't exactly fit/feel right and she says the hole definitely looks expanded. Yikes. I overcame my laziness and decided to drive to New Flower before they closed. I sort of missed the plaza and drove pretty far passed it, so when you see Fantastic Cafe, that's the correct plaza. I get there and explained the situation to Vanessa and Selene. Vanessa was extremely professional, thorough and knowledgeable in her explanations and it really reassured me. I wanted to go down to 20g and revert back to a stud (because I now need to heal my super irritated nose). Selene brought out many wonderful options. Once I chose my stud, I went into one of the back rooms to get the awful hoop removed by Vanessa. I was a little nervous because I was bracing myself for a painful replacement, BUT I had nothing to fear at all!! I barely felt Vanessa take out the hoop and replace it with the stud I chose!! It was a beautiful experience. LESSON: (I'm going to totally butcher this saying) "The joy of a moment's bargain is forgotten in the bitterness of the later costs"¿? Something like that. Basically, YES an establishment like New Flower Studio does cost more BUT the quality compares to no other. New Flower Studio has definitely earned my trust and patronage. I'm typing this while I am as comfortable and happy as can be with my new stud. I shall be back once my nose heals for a cute little hoop and maybe more piercings. :) read more

It was very clear he knew what he was doing. When it came to piercing my septum, he took his time to comfort me multiple times. I was very relaxed and the piercing went by sooooooo smoothly. There was very minimal pain. The process was STERILE, easy, and quick. He washed his hands, wore gloves, cleaned my nose, marked the spot, I laid down. Then he gently used the clamp (which didn't hurt) and I closed my eyes as he put the needle through. There it was done! So easy. Would return and recommend to others. read more

i came here to get my nose pierced around 3 years ago. i have had 6 piercings all from different places, but this is the place i should've gone for all of them. they're kind of strict in the way that they won't pierce you unless they only see good results as the outcome which is really refreshing. i got my belly button pierced somewhere else and it ended up rejecting and leaving a scar, and i had to come back here to ask for help. my nose piercing did leave a bump in the first couple months of the healing process, but that's completely normal with any piercing. they have a great cleaning system and help you clean your piercings to the best of the ability as well. the only downside would be that it is quite expensive here, but you're paying for quality jewelry - the kind they use to place pace makers so it's top notch and worth it. 10/10 would recommend this place for any sort of piercings read more

I was referred to New Flower Studio by my sister. I drove 30 minutes to see John. He is very educated and at the risk of losing my business, informed me my decision to proceed with the piercing may not have resulted the way I wanted in the long run. John had me watch a short video with after-care instructions and even went through the sterilization process with me. I was impressed with the high-quality jewelry (gold and titanium even) and the extensive selection of designs available which appealed to multiple tastes. John encouraged a two-week follow up and a three month follow up for my piercing (navel) to ensure proper healing and even gave me two cards for multiple purchases (buy 4 services/jewelry items, get the 5th free/discounted-don't quote me on the exactness of the 5th please). That being said, I will no longer go anywhere else for piercing services or jewelry for my navel piercing. If I could have chosen a place for all the piercings I've ever had, I would have gone here for all of them. I've had my last 2 piercings done on separate occasions over here, a forward helix and a tongue piercing. They were both done by John, the man in the long dreadlocks. I was freaking out before my tongue piercing and I was close to changing my mind but he explained the process and was professional and answered all of my questions. He has a zen personality. It's more on the expensive side if you're going to compare the prices to a swap meet (my friend got 2 holes done in her ear for $25 total) but at least over here you know it's clean because you initial the package before the needle is autoclaved so you can see those initials when it comes out knowing it's the same needle that was in the package that you signed. I had come here 2 years ago when they were still new and received a care package on my way out with a list of after care tips, a record I can keep of all my piercings, and business cards. It's a nice touch and set them apart from other piercing businesses. It's part of the reason I remembered this place and decided to come back here for my next piercing. I'm a huge fan of this place and now drive maybe 10+ miles just to get to New Flower Studio. I lived in the Long Beach area when I first started coming to New Flower but have recently moved to Montebello. In the past, I would only buy jewelry from New Flower but I've recently decided to start stretching my ears from 14 gauge to Zeros (I think). As of today I am at 8 gauge. I decided to post a review because I have now met all of the staff (I think) and today's experience has ensured that I continue coming here. John is normally the person that helps me out. He's awesome and very informative. I feel that he's guided me through a lot of my piercing decisions and I appreciate how professional he is. Today, I worked with Kenny, and I am just as pleased to have worked with him on stretching my ears from 10g to 8g. He's cool, easy going, and also professional. He talked to me like I was one of his buddies and that just made me feel even more welcomed. The shop in general is very clean and comforting. The jewelry is kept in displays that do not allow just anyone to touch them. I'm not a germaphobe but I think when it comes to the jewelry in my ears I'd freak out if just anyone could touch them. I got my nose piercing about two months ago and I'm very pleased with the results. John J is your go to guy for piercings. He has the most delicate of hands; my nose piercing was just a prick under his experienced and caring guidance. I came on a walk-in basis on a Thursday and was pierced and out within an hour. The receptionist is very helpful and knowledgeable as well, answered all my questions. First I picked out a piece of jewelry---a small gold ball. Next, I had to sign a waiver and watch a video with after care instructions. They sterilized the jewelry and then had me go to the piercing table, where I lay my head down and finally got my nose pierced! I was very happy with the piercing process. I had been eying this place for a month and finally decided to go on Saturday. My piercing of choice was the industrial. Kenny was the name of the piercer and he was very professional. There were 3 people ahead of me so, I walked over to 7 eleven which is in the same parking lot. Kenny measured my ear to choose the right barbell and informed of the risk of keloids since I am colored gal. (African Americans or blacks are known to keloid more so than others even though your health is also a factor). He had me watch a video about piercing aftercare and what NOT to use on my ear. In about thirty minutes, I was walked into a room and Kenny cleansed my ear and marked it. I was fine with the placement and he proceeded to do his thing. Honestly, I was freaked out considering I have had this done before. In a matter of ten minutes he was done. He was relatively busy that afternoon because their were three more people waiting for their piercings to be done. I took advantage of the free bag of sea salt offer on yelp. Great variety/selection of jewelry displayed in glass cases in the front. Lots to look at. Before getting pierced, you also get to watch a little piercing aftercare video. They do everything in their power to help you take care of your fresh piercing. New Flower is located in a little area with a bunch of other stores, close to Cal State Long Beach. I've never had a problem parking here, even when it's crowded. Getting pierced is a big deal and it should be done correctly!
