UPDATE 11/12/2025 I am late in updating this review and I apologize. This place has done a 180 with regards to the food quality and taste. Additionally, the physical setting seems brighter and more appealing. The last two - three times I have been here my order has been spot on! I always grab two egg rolls to hold me over to dinner and they have always been perfect. Cooked to a crispy outer wrapping, a hot center and not dripping with grease! On June 10, 2026 at approximately 9:26p I called to place an order for pick up. After I placed the order the lady that took my order informed me that they close at 9:30p I informed her it would take me about 8 minutes and she said thats fine just come on. I made it there at 9:33p and 9:34 knocking on door, the store was locked and lights off. My issue isn't that they closed but why did you say to come on when you had no intentions to make my order. I looked at my phone and at 9:31 they cancelled my order by text. With the increase of gas prices and the waste of my time the business could have easily said we have already shut the kitchen down and we a closing in a few minute. When I called a couple of days later (today) to speak to the manager he was short, and unapologetic saying yes I see the order was put in at 9:28 and canceled at 9:31 and "what do you need, I wasnt working then". I again tried to explain I wasted my time and gas for something that could have easily been handled by saying we are closing instead of "just come on". The food has been good in the past but I care more on how I am treated and since the business can care less I will not give another dollar to their business nor recommend it to others. read more

Food is typical of a fast food Chinese joint but place is clean. Cooks in back are not Chinese and some of the food feels inauthentic. General Tso's Chicken is good and 95% edible pieces of chicken. It's inconsistent though. 1st time I ordered it was coated in sauce (I order minus vegetables-allergies) and hot. 2nd time I ordered it was dry bone, barely any sauce and luke warm. Straight from the freezer. 2 stars The Jalapeño Chicken is delicious and seasonal so grab it while you can. It was plentiful, hot, and I enjoyed the tender chicken but not the saltiness-4.5 stars Kung Pao shrimp is delicious! Jumbo shrimp & tender. They use the same brown sauce on almost anything brown LOL but it was a good bite-5 stars Shrimp rolls were meh, mushy, cold inside, one shrimp and smelled putrid so I tossed it- 0 stars Service has been friendly thus far. I don't eat Chinese takeout often but if in the area and really hungry, I'd order here. The cashier female does need to remove the air pod from her ears though lol! read more

As far as Chinese in Huntsville is concerned, New China gets it right. I have tried almost every Chinese return in and around Madison.. some are much better than other but New Chain gets it correct. From the Eggs rolls to the steamed dumplings, fantastic Hot and Sour soup, General Tau's chicken etc... I have had their food on multiple occasions and it is always good. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating to me. I literally drive past 4 other Chinese restaurants to get to New China.... I hope they can keep it up.... read more

It was ok. The chicken was ok. It must have been sitting for a while because we received our order in ten minutes which can be a good thing. Except when you know the food had to be sitting for a while and was not freshly prepared for us. I believe that is why they are a two stat restaurant at best. WORST CHINESE FOOD WE'VE EVER HAD, BAR NONE! We placed an order for Hunan Chicken and Mongolian Beef. Our order arrived in a timely manner, but the food was NOT what we ordered. My wife called them and they offered to send out more food, but by that time we were both starving and went ahead and ate what was sent. BIG MISTAKE!!!! $41 plus tip for garbage. Nothing in the order was worth eating, although we did eat it. Just kind of blah. The only good thing I can say, it was hot. Food is very good. Had the mongolian beef and hot braised chicken wings. The mongolian beef had the savory flavor one would expect and the sauce on the hot braised chicken wings was sweet and spicy. Not too terribly spicy but does have a little kick so not for someone with a low tolerance to spicy food and the chicken meat was very tender. I ordered delivery and the food showed up in about 40 minutes after my order time which is more than reasonable. It was packed very well and the food was still hot. Overall, a tasty dinner that I would order again. HOWEVER, a big word of warning for those that like to use grubhub: do NOT order food from them from here. The prices on most items are 20% more expensive and some are even 50% more expensive. I was not thrilled in the slightest when I found out after my order was made that had I had went to New China's online ordering portal via BeyondMenu I would have saved a ton of money. The difference? My order with Grubhub with tip was almost $31, the total for the same food with tip via BeyondMenu would have totaled only $22, a staggering 29% difference. Not a deal breaker to New China as I'm sure the price hikes on Grubhub is to retain their bottom line since 3rd party services take a portion of the order total, but definitely a lesson learned to check for other ways of ordering delivery instead of taking the most convenient approach read more

The Mongolian beef was grisly and the rice tasted odd. Only saving grace was the egg roll and the fortune cookie. Very disappointed.

The WORST Chinese food I ever had in my life. Shrimp egg rolls was so salty I couldn't even eat it. General Tso chicken had way to much sauce and the fried rice does NOT even taste like fried rice. If i could leave a negative star, I would. We had started eating as my wife started to get some of the egg drop soup. My daughter had already grabbed her bowl and started eating. Then my wife found a few pieces of egg that had mold on it. The managers answer was to give me a credit towards my next meal. Like seriously? I just found mold in my food and they think I would want to eat there again? Gross. A refund and an apology would have been nice. But they aren't worried about it and offered to either bring me another soup or credit towards my next meal from them. I almost laughed at that. Do not eat here. Don't waste your money. Typical small Chinese restaurant, operated by Chinese. I give them a three and a half. I got a takeout order of a large Shrimp Lo Mein to share with my wife. The food was very good. The package looked smaller than I'd expected, but it was plenty of food for us. read more

I ordered delivery. I live 5miles away. I ordered veggie Lo Mein, 2 spring rolls, egg drop soup, and a sprite. It was suppose to take 45min to an hour. It took over an hour. I got a half pack of crunchy things for a pint of soup, my spring rolls were old and mushy, my noodles were so cold they were stuck together in ball....I should've known not to order here. Extremely disappointed; family went to pick up for lunch. We had general tso chicken; shrimp in lobster sauce; and schezwan beef. The fried rice was nothing more than colored white rice. Super disappointed ordered orange, bourbon, & honey chicken. My order was wrong. Received Sweet &sour chicken instead of honey chicken. Bourbon chicken was dry. Orange chicken was soggy. Crab Rangoon was horrible. No flavor, cold, and literally tasted like something out of the grocers freezer section. Yeah im definitely a fan. When i saw this place as i drove through the Walmart parking lot i knew i had to go eat there. I eat at all chinese places that are stand alone like this. I got the Generals chicken, beef lo mein and 4 egg rolls. My standard fair when i go to chinese restaurants and it was very good and i would go here again. Usually decline eating at restaurants when I don't see multiple pictures of the food but I went to try it anyways and I was very surprised the food is really excellent. Yes it's a little hole in the wall and there's not many good reviews on this place but the food is really good I'm actually going to eat there again today. We didn't dine in, but we ordered from the flyer and they delivered. We had the roast pork. The portion was huge and they made it exactly as I like it. The ingredients were very fresh and it tasted like real Chinese food. They cooked it in a delicious dark sauce. We definitely will order their food soon again. read more

I contacted New China to notify them of my dissatisfaction and asked if they could replace or compensate me for the order, but the manager refused to do anymore than a mere 10% off of another order. According to this hole in the wall, chow mein is chop suey minus broccoli. That is however, completely incorrect. Literally everywhere else chow mein is a noodle dish. When I called about what appeared to be a mix up, they were completely unapologetic about the soppy wet cabbage they sent instead of chow mein. You earned this 1 star. I would give you 0 stars if I could, because this is that terrible. Update: The business sent me a personal message. I really like this place overall. As far as places in Madison that deliver Chinese I believe it's the best from what I've tried. I had there fried chicken wings last week and I am still thinking about them! They were shockingly good. They were juicy, flavorful, and the meat was soft like butter. The skin was everything you'd want it to be. Very crispy and crunchy, but not a dry bland crunch. Flavor. Flavor. Flavor. I didn't even pay attention to the other food I ordered lol. There fried rice here is some of the best I've had outside from buffets. I haven't tried a dish from here I didn't like. I do t recommend getting French fries from here though because the moisture from the steam makes your fries soggy and sad. read more

This was our third and final time ordering from them. First time was good, second ok, this time there were several issues. I ordered beef and broccoli with soft cooked broccoli, my broccoli came completely raw, literally not cooked at all. I also ordered crab Rangoon, all but two were empty. It looks as if they were not wrapped properly so when they went in the fryer all the cream cheese and crab meat melted out. Then I got to my egg roll which were awesome the first two times we ordered from here, and it was horrible. The inside was raw, the wraper was thick dry and wouldn't even tear. When I called with the issues the manager told me she would send me 6 crab Rangoons (they come in an order of eight but I had told her two of them had not been totally empty) but I would need to send the empty ones back with the delivery driver. I also mentioned to her that for our family of three we were only given two soy sauces, she told me they were running low. Not sure why that means I don't even get one soy sauce for each meal I ordered, awful customer service. read more

I have been here 4 times now and it has been consistently yummy. I have tried the following and all have been very tasty- General chicken, sweet and sour chicken, sweet and sour pork, teriyaki chicken, boneless spare ribs, fried rice, pork lo mein, veg lo mein, and egg rolls. Their service is fast, delivery service was quick and only $2, the food is always hot and fresh. We will continue to come back time and time again. :) read more

I tried New China 10 yrs ago and it was bad....bad enough to drive further to up Hughes or County Line etc...whenever I wanted Chinese. I was in the area and thought after 10yrs and for convenience I would try it again. It was better, just not enough so to come back. I ordered it to go....It lacked flavor, the portions here are smaller, their large is every one else's small, condiments, non existent, 2 soy packs for a large order, no mustard. Their competitors give you the option and opportunity to pick which you want and how much you think you may need for your order. Friendly? Perfunctory is more like it. If this was a 'stand alone' restaurant without the strip mall location they would be out of business read more
