Man oh man. It's always a blast to read reviews for Chinese buffets. It's insane to me to read about folks expectations. Personally, I may visit these establishments 2-4x annually. I love em when I go and I just hope that it's reasonably price, relatively clean and the food is fresher and hotter than not. I was in Madison for work and opted to go out for lunch. This was not the popular choice on paper but when I arrived, shortly after opening, it was PACKED. Lots of skilled labor in here for their lunch break as well as leisure. The food that I ate was fresh, hot and tasted better than some. I was in and out in maybe 30 minutes with a fully belly, had good tasting food, it didn't break the bank and I didn't get my feelings hurt. Wins all around. read more

All the fried food is horribly over fried, the spring rolls are chewy, the chicken used for their sweet and sour chicken is like rubber. We will NEVER return to this so-called buffet. Take a look at the photo, can you see the TONGS hanging under the bathroom sink? Damn- you know that utensil will eventually make it back to the kitchen. Extremely frightening... And funny Most of my food from the Buffet was less than warm. Vegetables and meats below temperature. Food had no flavor. Everything was bland. I ordered sesame chicken and fried rice, i thought i was eating boiled chicken.

The service ABSOLUTELY sucked!! Our server kept staring at us the entire time we ate. I had gotten up to get things but they tasted trash. The only thing edible was the noodles and SOME of the hibachi. Usually I love the garlic bread, sushi, and oranges but they somehow managed to mess up the garlic bread, which COMES IN A BOX BTW, and the oranges had this weird taste to them. The sushi had old rice and the avocados were brown in the California roll. Me and my dad have gotten sick from eating at this place multiple times but we decided to give it one more chance and i'm sad to say we were disappointed and disgusted. The person that greets you when you walk in was horrible! The service was terrible! The food was less than desirable! So why are these people so prideful? Speaking in their language at which time I confronted the woman that cash customers out as I paid for my meal. I counted my cash in front of her to let her know to stop stereotyping people. Haven't eattin here in quite a long time and to be honest the food was much better than I remembered. Service, well there is no service, they move you in and they move you out. The always fashionably dressed Oriental hostess/owner is still her same old rude self of yore... Someone ought to let her know about the words please and thank you. I really think that it is a cultural thing. The Hibachi grill had a good selection and items appeared fresh. Shushi bar was adequate for a buffet and the seaweed was very good. Hot line items that I tried were decent in taste and flavor. I would rate it a five (5) star if they changed cleaning solutions as the one they use smells awful! Food is great! The only thing stoping me from coming back is one of the waitress who speaks a little Spanish. I had a bad experience with her when she told me a 5 dollar tip was very little when it was only me dining in. An other experience from one of my friends was that she kept the change from a 50 dollar bill when the total bill was around 35 dollars. Our last experience we went to pay at the counter and get change to leave a tip. she followed us to the counter and asked if we were going to leave a tip, we said yes we were getting change. We have been here numerous times. We ALWAYS enjoy it! We drive up from Cullman. Their selection is good. The food is always fresh and hot. They have good crawdads! The service is always just right! The lady that seats you might be a little gruff but I guess maybe it's just her nature. Not every one is cut out for dealing with the public. She isn't going to be sitting down with you! Food is really good but the service is unacceptable . Prepare yourself for the hounding the waitresses will do when paying for your food. They will literally stand up there at the front while you're paying and wait for a tip. And if you don't tip they will get mad and start talking in Chinese. ive been coming to this specific buffet since i was a child. service has always been prompt and kind. ambiance is like your average buffet- its clean and usually not noisy. the food has always been pretty good; don't expect to be blown away by it however. if youre craving chinese this definitely does the job. i really like that they have a teppanyaki where you can just assemble a plate and the chef cooks it for you. ive had some sushi here before too but i dont have much to say about it, not very memorable. some of my personal favorite things to eat here: egg drop soup + green onion (probably my favorite egg drop in town!) fried rice lo mein honey chicken hibachi chicken chicken on a stick garlic green beans sautéed mushrooms corn nuggets sweet and sour chicken pretty much any of their desserts or fruit if you come on a day theyre doing seafood for dinner, i approve of the crab! read more

Ok. This was a great surprise! I was passing through and trying to find a place to grab a bite. Seeing this Chinese buffet I thought "well, this will probably be mediocre at best but I'm hungry and it won't break the bank" The outside looks shabby. I almost didn't go in because it looked so run down, but once you enter the building it's a completely different vibe. Fresh, hot food, a pleasant and clean restaurant and tables, Busy and friendly staff, and most surprisingly, diverse and good quality food. Everything I ate didn't seem like it had been sitting all day but was beautiful and quite delicious. Comparing apples to apples, this was the best buffet I've been to in years and I would recommend it to anyone. We went to this restaurant on 06/25/23. I went with my family which was 8 people. We ate and my sister found A HAIR in her food. It was so disgusting we lost her appetite. It was quiet and not as full as some days but I get what the reviews talk about. My nephew went into the bathroom and told me it was disgusting. After we were done, my mother took the check and paid up at the front. The waitresses quickly ran to try and get the check to take some money for themselves. My dad left the tip which was five dollars and the waitress got mad. She started talking about us in Chinese, clearly looking mad, BOTH of them were. We left and my mom asked the lady that sits in the front. She said that we have to give a 15% tip when it's a party of 8 or more and we didn't know that. We didn't apologize since they kept giving us dirty looks and kept talking. read more

OMG. Take an airline sickness bag with you and then plan on leaving hungry because NOTHING is good. I just left China a few days ago so I know how gross real Chinese food is. This is worse. The worst I've ever witnessed. $37 was the total and my hospital deductible will be an extra $300. I wish I could erase this experience from my memory. I feel like I may have cold sweat nightmares and flashbacks -- that could just be from the indigestion. Everything tastes exactly the same. They must be frying in 10 year old 10W 30 oil. I can't warn you strongly enough. Perhaps tied with the worst Chinese food experience of my life -- and there have been a couple. When they get it wrong, it is soooo wrong. I have to be a glutton for punishment, another Chinese buffet. My original intent was to get some food at the Chuck Wagon BBQ next door, but it was closed. So I dropped into the China Buffet last night because I was strapped for time (and I had no desire for "Fast Food"). Well, I found it to be a better buffet then the much advertised Chow King (which I ate at on Sunday 8/17, see my review), for the most part, the food I sampled tasted better and was hot. The egg roll was flavorless though, and I felt the sweet & sour chicken had too much breading. Other then that, everything was tasty and I left satisfied. I plan to be back, as I only work a mile or so away. Didn't sample any desserts while there, so can't give a review on them. I probably would've given China Buffet a 4 star rating if there was more of a seafood selection. Felt it was lacking. read more

I'm surprised by China Buffet. This place has been here for as long as I can remember, and I was partially dreading a work-related group function at China Buffet. Plus it is sort of shaped like a barn. First of all : I despise buffets. To me: a buffet is where questionable food goes to die a slow death by heat lamp. To my surprise, China Buffet has offerings unlike a decade ago: a small-ish hibachi area with a dedicated cook; sushi; steamed seafood (crab legs and shrimp) and maybe raw oysters, I'm not sure; and an abundance of round buffet areas laid out so you can select from various soups, salads, steamed seafood, various rice selections, etc. So, the buffet is well-organized and accessible, which is good, because it is a crowded restaurant. We were a party of probably 14 people, and the waitress did a decent job of keeping our iced teas full. Prices are super-reasonable. I think, with iced tea and tip, my lunch was ~ 10.00. Don't be afraid to try China Buffet. But *do* go early, because I'm sure that after 1:00 or so, the food enters that "death in the buffet" zone and isn't as fresh. read more

This is one of the most extensive Chinese buffets that I have ever been to! So many options!! Giving a 4 just because it wasn't the cleanest, but food was very good! My favorite was the hibachi station! So so good! read more

Heard bad reviews. Health inspection issues. Tried it anyway. Meh. The typical Chinese buffet or buffet selection anyway. Rice. Noodles. Chicken. Pork. Beef. Seafood etc. large selection but a lot of the flavor was bland. Wait staff extremely helpful and nice. Cashier was nice but as I said meh on the food. Just had some rice and vegetables but it tasted more like grease than food. Price wasn't that high but for the overall experience I felt slightly let down. Lots of seating from booth to table. No problem finding parking outside either. Doubt this place is ever "Booming" though. All the normal soft drink suspects. Beer too such as Sapporo, Bud, and Heineken too. Fish and waterfall at entry really sets the mood! For lunch you're probably okay but I wouldn't come here with others to tuck in. Great for your pocketbook but horrible for your digestive system. read more

How many times has this dump been shut down by the health inspectors?! And why do they allow it to reopen?! This place is horrible, from the bad service to the sickening food. It's so bad there have been articles about the inspectors going in and finding such bad infractions that they had customers leave and closed them immediately! STAY AWAY!!! read more

Aggressive front counter Staff, the lady's attitude look like dealing with homeless not with respectful customers

I've been here several times when you pay with cash they will keep some of the money and when you ask for it back they say "Tip okay" and walk away and when you pay with card they try to force you to give a tip. I've been taught to always tip and I've been a waitress myself so I know how important tips are but when your forced to do it Before you even have the chance to it makes you not want to!!! read more

Went to another Chinese buffet in the area and wasn't pleased with how they were handling things post COVID-19. This place however handled it very well. They had signs requiring masks at the food bar. They roped off the food area and limited it to 8 people at a time. I felt confident they were doing their best to keep things clean. Started off good, my husband and I have eaten here a few times. Really enjoyed my egg drop soup. Unfortunately, I decided on dessert. Scooped some pudding reminiscing about school lunches. Lol Sat down and first bite felt something in my mouth. Spit it out and it was a roach. After gagging and trying my best to rid my mouth of all remnants of pudding, I quietly told the waitress. She somewhat apologized and then brought us our ticket. No offer to comp our meals, no removal of the pudding (I watched), and that was it. Serious issues. I rarely complain and didn't make a scene there, but I'm 13 weeks pregnant and had a nasty roach in my mouth. No one there seemed concerned or cared. read more
