Oh, and they had egg drop soup, which I assume had no chicken broth but didn't ask. But, hey, they had southern fried catfish. On the Chinese buffet. I'm not kidding. And then, of course, like every Chinese buffet in every hick town, they had fried mozzarella sticks that seemed to come from the Kroger frozen section, thawed out in the trunk of somebody's car, refrozen, thawed out again, only slightly warmed up in a microwave, then allowed to sit out for a couple days before being served. Can't do a basic veggie stir fry, but they can do southern fried catfish and stale, sub-mediocre mozzarella sticks. Again - all on a Chinese buffet. I'm surprised they didn't have a Beech-Nut chewing tobacco station on the buffet. And shortly after we sat down, the dinner rush set in: Assorted characters from the show Trailer Park Boys, Gadsden "don't tread on me" Flag-wearing incels, geriatric bikers, and backward cap wearing bros. Maybe it's not this restaurant. Maybe it's this town. What was I thinking stopping here for Chinese food? At least the unsweetened iced tea was good. And the staff was friendly (so I gave my drink server a good tip; the food quality was not her fault).

That said, the food wasn't greasy or overly salty, which is a definite plus for anyone who is sensitive to salt. The temperature was just right, and the portions were NOT decent (serving container is very shallow!). The location is near a busy intersection, and the limited street parking can make getting out of a parking space a little frustrating. A lovely local shared a helpful tip with me: there's a small parking area about half a block down if you don't mind walking a short distance. There is also plenty of seating inside if you prefer to dine in and enjoy watching the local pedestrians pass by. Service was friendly. Overall, it's an option if you're looking for an in and out takeout that isn't overloaded with grease or salt.

This is the most underrated place in town. It is definitely the best Chinese food you can get in Athens and the friendliest service. They have delicious General Tso's Chicken, egg rolls, cashew chicken, donuts, etc. I have been going there weekly for almost 10 years. They definitely have my approval. read more
