Easy to find. No waiting, there are multiple sections for seating. Dishes were clean, staff was present all throughout the buffet. The selection was decent. Sushi was fresh with six plus options. Soups were hot. Spring rolls were cold and plantains were warm not hot. The rangoon was bland and some were burnt. Some of the other food (noodles, rice) was a bit bland, but when cooking for large crowds-I understand. A little soy sauce and it was all good. The fresh chicken was good. Health rating was good, plastic silverware is brought to your table. Gloves at the buffet station. Hibachi was just okay. I put garlic in my dish and it was burnt when I received it back. The water, however, was delicious! lol. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to visit but if I'm around I would go again. read more

Love this buffet. Delicious food. And the service is always attentive and friendly.

If you love shrimp, go on Saturday and Sunday. They have shrimp, shrimp, and more shrimp, fixed every way you can think of. The service people are on it with replenishing and keeping everything spotless. Everything I tried was good. Nothing was overcooked or had been in the pans too long. The place was super busy and everyone was courteous, staff and patrons. We were spoken to immediately upon entering and thanked for coming when we left. The service waitresses kept our drinks filled and the table cleared constantly, but not enough to be annoying. We went on a Saturday and returned the following week after church on Sunday again. Both times were pleasant and food consistent. We usually do not like food bars in my family because of the crowds and cleanliness, but we were all impressed how Chow King was running. We more than ate our moneys worth of shrimp and shrimp dishes. The sushi they offer was very tasty and fresh. My grands love the ice cream and frozen treats unlimited choices. My youngest grand loves sushi and ate plenty. They do offer a senior discount, a thankful perk. read more

Quick take: Middle of the road for me. Might be back one day. First time visiting in a long time. Many selections. The wait staff and hibachi cook was friendly. A lot of patrons and very busy midday on a Saturday. Didn't seem too dirty but also not very clean. Definitely check your "clean" plates before putting food on them. That's for all buffets though. I didn't enjoy the flavor of most entrees, except the good, steamed crawfish. I didn't try everything though. All of the vegetables I ate were cooked very well. They tasted better than the meats. Some of the crawfish had a different taste..almost like freezer burned taste. The men's bathroom had about an inch of water in the floor Fruit was good. Pizza was not but a kid wouldn't mind I'm sure. Sushi buffet selections limited and were decent. Based on this visit I am not running back through the doors. There are other Chinese buffets within 25 miles I like. But who knows...sometime in the future I may try again. read more

Food was GOOD! Gotta try the ribs! I come from the land of buffets in Vegas and this is by far one of the best Chinese buffets I've been to. Friendly staff as well. read more

The wife and I went by here for the first time in years. We stopped going due to their low health department rating. So today we decided to go back and see if anything had changed. Well their health department score was 91 so we felt good about enough to have lunch. The first thing I saw was that they had signs by all of the food that was for the dinner menu. First off if you are going to bring it out early I am going to eat it. You are a buffet not a restaurant that serves dinner off of a menu. You don't want people to eat it don't cook it that early and then place it out there to get dry and crusty and expect your customers to eat it. That's like serving your customers food you cooked for Breakfast at dinner. Secondly none of the food had any flavor. It was all bland and cold. The hot and sour soup had way too much black pepper in it and all you could taste was the black pepper. The only good food there was the fruit. For anyone that thinks this food is good you need to get out and experience Chinese food from other places. I felt like I was eating leftovers from last month. Stay away from this place and treat your stomach and taste buds the way they should be treated. Feed them food that tastes good and not Chow King. read more

First you have to remember it's a Chinese buffet, it's not fine dining. If you come here expecting that you're going to be disappointed. That out of the way, I like the place. The food for the most part is good, if you've got something you don't like don't eat it. Go up and get something else. The servers are friendly and fairly prompt. It's a family friendly place where you can eat many different dishes. read more

Food was great. Service was great. Chinese restaurant decor. Very nice. Lots of good food on the buffet

Chow King - Prices - Chinese Near Me - Decatur, Alabama

Awful. Disgusting. Haven't been here in probably over a year before today and I can say I'll never be back after this. A lot has changed here. The first thing you'll notice is a musty smell upon entering. I thought this was probably a mix of smells coming from the different types of food that had been cooking. The longer that I stayed in the restaurant, I began to recognize it as a dirty smell. After visiting the restroom, I could confirm that the place probably rarely gets the cleaning attention that it needs. The food itself was lackluster, stale, soggy, unflavorful and just overall YUCKY. I didn't even eat enough to fill up on because it was so bad. I went to Taco Bell drive-thru right after. I do not recommend. Save your money and go literally anywhere else. They are on my Decatur-Do-Not-Dine list now. YUCK, YUCK, YUCK! 0/10! read more

The food is good. Great variety service is usually good. It's a buffet so they refill your drinks and take empty plates.

Roach was found in my drink floating at the top told the waitress that there was one and she changed my drink. I look at the drink and at the very bottom was the same bug that had been in my cup. She didn't change the cup, she just refilled disgusting. No visible roaches on the floor at least read more

My wife and I go here weekly since my wife loves the food. Sometimes they speak to each other in their language when they pass by us and my wife and I kinda laugh and joke around claiming that they're "done" with our presence since I have to admit, we eat plenty of crayfish, so we just jokingly assume they're tired of us eating so much; until today. We walked in the place and the lady that was going to attend us immediately started what seemed like nagging in her language to the other employees. My wife and I laughed and said "They're already complaining that we're here." Until the actual service. The lady picked up plates from other tables and smiled at them but didn't pick ours up and would avoid looking at us, and when she did, she seemed ticked off. Also she would refill other drinks but not ours. They were absolutely empty except the now melting ice, and she still didn't refill ours. She let our plates accumulate and then brought a big box and took our plates in there. I feel it was to make a statement that we eat so much she had to bring a box out. She then brought us our check instead of refilling our drinks, even though she passed by us many times after. I eventually said "excuse me" as she was walking away, and she kinda turned around and saw me. I said "could we get refills, please?" She then turned back around and kept walking away without even nodding or reassuring me of anything. I thought she totally ignored me until she came back and asked us what we wanted, so we told her. She took our cups and filled them up without taking the old ice out and putting new ice in. The ice was already thin and it had already created a puddle of water in the cup, so she just added soda to the melted ice. She never smiled at us, but smiled to everyone else. It wasn't such a joke anymore that she was annoyed by our presence, it was evident. I ended up feeling such a heavy energy and not knowing whether to confront her odd behavior towards us or leave, but I'm not brave enough to complain, so I just left the place in a negative mood. My wife loves the food there but the lady really made me feel bad with her discriminating vibe. read more

This was the last chance at redemption. Every time I've been here I've never gotten a refill on drinks. Today was no different. Yes, it was busy, but it has been the same every time. Waited and waited for sushi. Stood there 20 minutes for the guy to finally come out and put out a little bit- it was warm because the rice had not been chilled. What was offered was paper thin. The rolls were meh. They jacked the price up for Father's day (no different fare and less selection available than usual- no plan for a busy day- and when we went to pay at the end and I said we didn't get even one refill the entire time, he shrugged it off. read more

I was really nervous about coming here because of all the terrible reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. There's a big selection of food, and it's pretty tasty. Really no complaints. Their sushi even has actual fish in it...I've gotten so tired if the fake crab meat. It was a really nice change and yummy. Servers and staff were friendly. Place is clean. We will definitely be back. read more

Ok, I'm getting away from my normal reviews. I'm going to review a buffet. This is a pretty good buffet. The food was fresh, hot and flavorful. There's plenty of variety from sushi, beef and broccoli to chicken wings. I really enjoyed my lunch and when I'm in the area, I'll return. read more

I've been to the Chow King location in Huntsville, today was the first time I've been to the Decatur location. Pretty much standard Chinese fare, although the selection is quite extensive. Where do I begin. We have been dining at Chow King since 2016, so we are regular customers. Our dining experience at the restaurant on Saturday (Feb 18) was absolutely terrible! The servers were very rude to my family and they pretty much ignored us (no drink refills, no clearing away used dishes). We were placed in a tiny booth towards the back of the restaurant. I insisted that we needed a table, so after 3 times they moved us to a table near the front. Now the food, it was old and tasteless , the sushi was dry and tasted like kids paste ! The beef, chicken, and pork dishes were all cold and pretty much inedible , I was extremely disappointed with the service and the food , I will not be coming back (not that they give a shit) ever again. Oh by the way, I did leave a tip, I never complain about servers since I know it is a hard, thankless job. So sad, it used to be one of my favorite places to eat. read more

Yet another in a long line of Chinese-American buffets Chow King doesn't really offer anything that hasn't been seen before. Standard selections from stir-fry to sushi are available along with items for the less adventurous such as fried shrimp and egg rolls. Despite the lack of originality the food is flavorful. The staff is friendly and quick to refile your beverage of choice. The atmosphere is typical of a modern family style eatery. Cost per guest is average for the weekday lunch with a slightly elevated price for dinner and seafood centric meals read more

Ok lets just start out and say this ....i love Chinese food and most if not all of the items in my top ten are served here. I like the fact they change out some items at night for dinner not just jack up prices. I enjoy their selection of Sushi its always fresh tasting . It might seem like a cheep date but when 2 people can go and eat for 20 bucks including tip its a win in my book...go between 11am -1pm and afrer 6pm till 9 pm for maxium freshness! read more

Layout of the restaurant is great and everything looks promising for Chow King, ***BUT*** if you have ANY type of FOOD ALLERGIES please DO NOT eat at Chow King!!! My husband does manage to go to other Chinese buffets and doesn't have a problem, but he is allergic to seafood. Chow King has SO MUCH cross-contamination with seafood and other foods it isn't even funny. He ate some fried chicken that had to have used the same fryer as fried shrimp. By the time we got out to our truck, he was already swelling up with a reaction. When I had used the hibachi grill, the cook had beef, chicken, AND seafood all on the same grill and was using the same utensils. Like I said before, looks to be very well thought out floor plan, etc. Just needs to have the placement of food on their hot tables adjusted where all seafood is on the same couple of tables, not spread out throughout the buffet. read more

Pretty typical food for a Chinese buffet. They do have a nice selection and the catfish is really good. The place is new and seemed clean enough. I guess the only complaint is that they will not keep the crab legs full and you have to wait in line if you want them. Update: This place has went downhill since they first opened. It is not near as clean, the food not near as good, and just over all needs better management. read more

All you can eat Chinese, American, and hibachi grill and buffet. Great food for the price.

They did have a big selection of food Mostly seafood entrees.None of what i ate stood out above any other much more reasonably priced Chinese food locations. In other words at a price of $22.99 per person.not worth it.There are so many more restaurant at half that price with much better and much fresher food. As for the staff we were seated quickly. We were told were the plates were and gave him our drink order. When we got back drinks were there.but are server who ever that was we never saw them.Literally we get up are drink would be refilled. Our check i had to get from the front host.Place was a bit messy but they were busy. The buffet lines were messy food on sides and rails.Ice cream machine was out.Not the greatest location neighborhood wise.Multiple law enforcement patrol area regular and sit in parking lot continuous due to fights from the surrounding bars and mischief read more

Awful. We have been here several times in the past years when we are in Decatur. We look forward to it. However, after tonight we will not be back. Two hours before closing and there is hardly any food out. Nothing is being refilled. They are just scraping old, hard bits of food together into the middle of the pans. The hibachi was already closed down. I did take one bite of a crab ragoon and immediately spit it out. It left a sour, metallic taste in my mouth. I told my husband that if I get sick tonight, it will be because of that. The tea is so sweet I can't even drink it and I'm southern and like my tea sweet. There were 3 children probably less than 5 years old running through the buffet area and climbing up and over the food with no parents present and the staff allowed this to happen. The ice cream was good and I was thankful for that. I can't believe that they charge $15 for this. We wanted to voice our complaints to the manager so that these issues could be corrected (as I said this was one of our favorite places to eat when we are in Decatur) but they evidently do not have one according to the girl at the register. Maybe that is the whole problem. Don't waste your time or money. read more
