This location was convenient for everyone and the prices were so reasonable! The staff were always kind and friendly and we could relax, visit, and open gifts and cards for a couple of hours with no issues. We never felt rushed. The interior is cozy and the building is aging; however it still has charm especially with the endless modern, flat roofed, urban restaurants popping up all over Madison County. We typically got the buffet. I enjoyed their Moo Goo Gai Pan, Beef with Broccoli, dumplings, and hot and sour soup. The buffet always had something for everyone and our non-MSG Birthday Club members never experienced headaches or other MSG related issues here. Thanks for years of memories, China Gourmet.

When I unboxed this dish at home, I was shocked that it appeared to literally be a box of 80% onion. There were 8-10 shrimp total and only a few pieces of broccoli. The flavor was pretty good, and the shrimp were properly cleaned for the most part. But I was shocked by the overpowering presence of onion. I wish other veggies were included. It did come with a side of plain white rice. My husband said his chicken fried rice lacked flavor. He added lots of soy sauce to help. I don't think either of us would order our dishes again. I'm not sure we'd go out of our way to return. Especially for the prices for what you get.

There are many Chinese buffets and restaurants to choose from in this area. If you are looking for a high end Chinese restaurant, then you should post your review elsewhere. This restaurant is known for its service, and caring for its clientele. The food is buffet style, with the added benefit of basic good fresh Sushi and a good Hibachi grill. For instance, my favorite is the Tilapia filet cooked on the Hibachi. They also have Oysters on the half shell, steamed clams, boiled shrimp, and an American section some customers are regulars for. On the American part of the bar is Fried Chicken, Meatloaf, Broccoli & cheese, mashed potatoes, macaroni & cheese, pizza, green beans, and so on. Once they recognize your face, they will learn what you like, & go cook whatever you want, for the buffet price. I'm surprised they didn't have a Beech-Nut chewing tobacco station on the buffet. At least the unsweetened iced tea was good.
