It's the epitome of a hole-in-the-wall eatery where you know that the food will hit just right. The owner, originally from Fujian China, was very friendly and helpful. I'm very finicky about Chinese -American food since I grew up in the business. My chicken egg foo young was made perfectly...hard to find in many take-outs. It was a very generous portion...enough to feed at least 2. If you're up in this area, stop in, support a local family business & get some great Chines-American food!

I am happy to report that in this case, it's the latter. My friend and I went here and she had never tried Thai food before. It was very cold where we were sitting and the server allowed us to move to a warmer spot. We ordered a fried mushroom appetizer. This was very good. They came with ranch and I think it was the horseradish sauce. The orangish sauce was very good. I ordered 1/2 rack of dry ribs with mac & cheese and green beans, and 2 hushpuppies. You get a choice of Texas toast, hushpuppies, or rolls. My coworker ordered salmon. When the food came out, my ribs were wet. I told the server that I had ordered dry rub. He stated they were dry but had sauce on them. I'm sorry, that is not a "dry rib", in my opinion. The first piece of rib meat I ate was soft and juicy. The next two were super dry and I could not eat any more of them. My coworker joked that that was probably what they were referring to when they said "dry rub". The green beans were ok. I added a ton of pepper and some hot sauce. I saved the mac & cheese for lunch the next day. The hushpuppies were dense and needed a little more flavor. My coworker commented that her salmon was ok but nothing to write home about. I should have went with my first instinct and ordered from the kids menu. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is nice.

Looking at it, I suspect it may have been a lower-quality cut such as skirt steak, flap meat, chuck steak, or something similar, but I honestly do not know for certain. What I do know is that it did not resemble the quality, texture, or appearance that most people expect when ordering steak. I've included a photo so others can judge for themselves. This wasn't a one-time mistake. I had a similar experience before but decided to give it another chance. Unfortunately, the second experience was no better than the first. My impression is that customers are being charged for what they expect to be a lean steak, but are being served a much cheaper and lower-quality cut. Whether that's actually the case, I can't say for certain, but that's exactly how it felt based on what was served to me. As a result, I won't be returning. If you're considering the chicken and steak combination entrée, I'd recommend choosing something else.
