Also the smallest container of brown rice. Literally 3 tablespoons of rice. No idea why they would give brown rice at an Asian restaurant, Not to mention that brown rice contains arsenic! Then the soup was completely congealed. I tried reheating the soup but even after reheating it stayed so thick that I could not eat it. It was the consistency of pudding. This is a great family owned restaurant. The food was delicious. This restaurant is part of the same family that use to own the Canton Restaurant in Radford, Va. From the moment we walked in it was like walking back in time to that Radford location. The owners extremely nice and friendly. The atmosphere was nice and friendly. Very enjoyable lunch. read more

We took my dad out for dinner and had a blast. Got to meet the owners and found out this Canton is owned by a family member who used to own the Canton in Radford, where my college roommate worked and we had many a good meal from there. The Canton in Galax brought back the smells and flavors I enjoyed in college. I have a specific way I order shrimp with cashew nuts- a bit spicy in a brown sauce and they made it perfectly! First time dining inside. Lady that runs the place, is very nice. Homemade wonton soup was very good, as was the homemade egg roll. I like that they give you a squeeze bottle of hot mustard and duck sauce for the table. Ice tea was delicious. Lady told us the fried dumplings (pork) were homemade, and a favorite for the guests. So I ordered kung pao chicken. Only problem was I couldn't find the chicken for all the sliced yellow onions. OMG so many onions and so little chicken. The was some diced carrots, bell peppers, and squash that made the dish a little more palatable. Don't get me wrong, the sauce was very tasty and nice crunchy peanuts, but oh my goodness the onions. Service was excellent, very friendly. They charge the customer $1.00 if you use a card instead of cash. read more

I think most of these reviews are old. I love this place. It's quiet with great food. If you eat in, your meat and vegetables are served separately with your rice. So you know what and how much meat and vegetables you are actually getting. They aren't hiding in a plate of rice. This is my go to Chinese restaurant. Try it. You won't be disappointed in the food. read more

My husband and I went to Canton for the first time today and loved it! We each ordered a combination plate which included fried rice and an egg roll. My pepper steak was simply delicious - the beef was moist & tender and the peppers and onions had just the perfect amount of crispness. My husband really enjoyed the shrimp with lobster sauce and the wonton soup. The staff was warm, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is very nice - we were quite comfortable during our meal. Pricing was great at around $10-$11 per plate; definitely budget friendly for a family. We had about a 45 minute to get there and it was well worth the trip. This place is an old-school gem that I often stop at when in Galax, Va. I don't know the history except it's been around a few years, is family owned, and we often have the same server at night. Inside you will find a time capsule. The food is always good and fresh, and they clearly care. Places like this are going out of business for many reasons, so enjoy it while you can. It's not PF Changs. It's Asian-Americana and I am glad I tried it, and I am glad it's in Galax. Also wanted to add that they have good mixed drinks! read more

Do not go here and waste your money. Went to get dinner for our family and ordered multiple items. We couldn't tell the difference between the orange chicken and general tso', except that they were both gross. The Broccoli and beef was rubbery and the mu shu gai pan was blan and the chicken if you can call it that, was very disappointing. the lomain tasted like grease, the "fried rice" looked like white rice was tossed in a pan with no add ins or flavor. Despite the externally small portions the nine of us didn't finish any of the items. We took one bite of the sushi and tossed the rest. A waste of $100. read more

This restaurant is one of those that I didn't really know about until I searched online for Chinese food near me. I decided to try something new and went with my mother. The outside is decorated nicely with eye-catching lights with parallel parking in front of it. The interior is very attractive with many decorations and well presented seating. The tables and dishes are clean and the staff are very well-mannered and polite. As for the food, I'm not at all disappointed. It's delicious. The dumplings are divine with the duck sauce, by the way. The soup is homemade, I can tell. The Peking chicken is amazing and the waitress stayed on top of our drinks and made sure everything was well at perfectly timed intervals. WORST MEAL EVER ! WORST SERVICE EVER! Read my comments BELOW... I have been here several times and the food was OK most times, this time it was a disaster! My dinner companion ordered general chos chicken and started eating and found the spoon that was sitting in the dish was covered in MAYONAISE! Informed the owner she made excuses that someone was making a sandwich in the back and must have put it down on the plate... What? Then my order comes.... I ordered sweet and sour chicken as I usually do, she serves me general chos chicken style with sweet sour sauce... What? She said it comes this way.. Excuse me I have eaten here on numerous occasions and it never ever liked like this as a matter of fact if you ever order sweet and sour chicken you know what is is supposed to look like.. Not like the chicken with general chos... We paid or bill of 24.00 and since all the owner did was make excuses and my companion was sickened by the mayo in his meal and the owner never opologized or did anything to correct our issues only trying to lie and make excuses... We will Never ever eat there again.. We use to go at least two times a month and spend a nice chunk of change.. My advise... Go somewhere else.. Period read more

It had been years since I last went to this restaurant. After reading all the highly rated reviews, here and on their Facebook page, I decided to try it again. It was a big mistake! We got to the restaurant at 2:30pm on a Saturday. There was no one else in the restaurant, we were the only customers. My husband and kids ate from the buffet and I ordered from the menu. There were slim pickin's on the buffet. Maybe if we would have arrived at noon when they first opened it might have been full and fresh. There were 4 cream cheese wontons when we got there and they never refilled those. The only things my kids could eat were the Lo Mein noodles, cooked potatoes and donuts. They didn't have any teriyaki chicken (chicken on a stick). The rice was dry. I ended up ordering my kids 2 bowls of wonton soup from the menu. They really didn't bring out any fresh food while we were there. They just came and added hot water to the old food to freshen it up. I ordered shrimp mei fun/rice noodles from the menu. It looked OK when it came out but the noodles where very dry. The bill came to about $40 for the 4 of us. Before we even got home, my 6 year old son was complaining that his stomach was hurting. I am 7 months pregnant and didn't feel the effects until early the next morning when I woke up with stomach cramps and abdominal pain (Not related to the pregnancy). If you are looking for good Chinese food in Galax, this is the best in the area. Service was excellent, the food was very fresh and tasty. The buffet was very limited, so order from very ample menu. The chicken used in the General Tso's chicken was actually white meat, and not mystery meat that you commonly find in today's local Chinese food restaurants. read more
