I've used this station a few times. It's served by NJ Transit Northeast Corridor line trains. To my knowledge no Amtrak trains stop here. The station is nice in that it has a waiting room vs just a platform. It's not open all hours that trains stop at the station so if it is amazingly cold or hot out you may want to time your arrival accordingly if your train is departing outside the hours of 6:00am - 8:00pm Mon - Fri, or 7:00am - 8:00pm Sat - Sun. There is a ticket office open during these hours, otherwise buy your tickets from the machines on the platforms to avoid paying $5.00 more on the train. The waiting room has one small unisex bathroom. It's been a bit feral both times I've had to use it. Keep this in mind! There is a Dunkin Donuts on the ground level of the station, handy although I don't know how busy it gets during the weekly rush hour. There's also a flower shop in case you need those last minute surprises. For those who prefer boba tea, there is a Vivi Bubble Tea shop right near the station although it doesn't open until later in the morning, sorry am commuters! All in all it's a functional train station. I'm always glad when I find a station that has an actual waiting room vs just a platform with a roof over it.

This is a basic NJ transit station. It is a little rundown and could use a fresh coat of paint. I am surprised that it is in such poor shape considering this is the stop for Rutgers and RWJ medical center.

A standard train station. Pros: - Walking distance to campus - Walking distance to restaurants, bars, and theaters - Not as crowded as Princeton Junction during commuting hours Cons: - Tends to be crowded during non-commuting hours - Only two sets of stairs on each side, causing bottlenecks - Ticket machines tend to be slow when paying by credit card This is a standard train station which requires an overhaul to match all the new businesses which have sprung up around it.

Train station parking lot is packed; way easier just to go out of Jersey Avenue 1/2 mile up the road.

Ask the Community - New Brunswick Train Station

    Is it wheelchair accessible?

If the elevators are working, then it's wheelchair accessible. Separate elevators on either side at street level, these go to the platforms.

Oh NJ Transit, how I love and loathe you. Edison Train Station is my local stop on the Northeast…read moreCorridor NJTransit line. It runs directly into New York Penn. The other side will take you to Trenton/Philly. The station has three areas for parking. The main lot, in front of the station, the side lot on the left parallel to the tracks (with the poor paving), and a recently opened lot off of Kilmer Rd, which has alleviated some of the wait list for parking spaces. The ingress to the station is a little tricky, because you have to turn onto Central Ave/Reed St - a residential road, and then race through the one way traffic of the lot, so try not to drive over 35 mph around the turns. Its best not to be late, as there isn't a way to pull in and run to the platform. I like that this station always has a few taxis waiting to take people places. I also like that the main lot makes it easier to get to the NY bound side of the platform. I dislike that the station building is small, has limited seating, is usually kinda dirty, and closes at 8 pm. If you miss your train and its after 8 pm, you have to sit outside. There are overhangs, so at least you don't have to stand in the rain, but its not necessarily comfortable in bad weather. At least there are a lot of benches. The station doesn't staff people, so you do need to know how to use the ticket machines rather than ask a person. The building does have two bathrooms but use at your own peril. Edison train station also has two elevators for those of you that need them. That said, access to the elevator requires going under the overpass, which means walking from the main lot, around the sidewalk down on Plainfield Ave, under the overpass, and then up one of the two elevators. There are stairs that are faster. The sidewalks and stairs are well salted in the winter.

There is a fairly large station house on the north side of the northbound platform, which houses a waiting room, a ticket window, and a medium-sized bagel shop, which does wonderful business every day.I am only giving two stars because the station, during the afternoon, doesn't have a sheltered or indoor place to sit on the NY-bound side. It's a major inconvenience on a cold day, and in general, there is inadequate seating. Trains normally seem to be on time, though, and the scenery from the train is superb. Between Perth Amboy and South Amboy, you slowly cross the Raritan River on a low bridge with no siderails, giving the impression that you are on a boat, with an unobstructed scenic view of Staten Island to the northeast. The water views from this line are pretty amazing. Also, in the future, I'd be more inclined to take the bus, since the train on Sundays only runs once hourly NY and Long Branch, whereas the 139 bus runs twice hourly. This train can be packed coming back, and the fact that people occupy valuable seating space with their jackets and feet is very frustrating.

Spending most of my life a little further north, New Brunswick train station was my go to. The parking lots there charge hourly unless you can find street parking or it's Sunday. This being a cheap option, especially since most are still on a hybrid commuting schedule, it may also be an option to not have to get a parking permit, so that's a win! The station is well lit and there is a nice amount of traction during commuting hours which is nice so you don't feel alone. The platform is outside so dress appropriately for the weather.

Ya gotta love Yelp when I found a text for the "10 best train stations in Princeton Junction"…read moresitting in my inbox. As the ONLY train station in Princeton Junction, maybe it's time to update my review. Pre-pandemic this station was subject to horrendous overcrowding and grossly inadequate parking for the Wall Street bedroom community money changers that rose pre-dawn for their daily migration into lower Manhattan. Currently, with WFH still lingering and the exit of many financial houses to the tax free climes of Florida, parking is far easier and in true close the barn door after the horses have run off fashion, a new multi-level parking deck is being constructed to accommodate the waning demand. As for the station, I would offer that clubbing and reverie is not what you're here for. A small coffee shop, ticket machines and wooden benches are your VIP amenities and IF (and it's a big if) the trains are on-time it's 60 minutes (more or less) into the bowels of Penn Station. All aboard, or should I just say, bored. Decent and functional snares four stars for the Junction. In any case, it still beats driving by a mile.

The train station itself is pretty small and parking is a complete pain during commuter hours, and it's the main reason for my low rating... I ended up parking here Friday night because it was located near the restaurant where I was meeting friends, and I couldn't find any parking elsewhere. It was past commuter hours so there was plenty of parking. Unfortunately I did not have any quarters to feed the meter (24 hour paid parking cruel!) but I noticed there was a QR code on the meter. Well, if you don't have quarters, good luck. The QR code was for a parking app, and I've used parking apps in the past... this is the worst one. It kept running very slow and needed a lot of input right away. Not only was I late to meet friends because of this, but this parking lot is very dark at night. I don't care if I'm in the lowest crime rated city in America, being in a relatively deserted parking lot when it's dark out, by yourself, trying to get something on my phone to work- definitely made me feel vulnerable and unsafe. They should really get the parking machines that towns like Westfield have, where you input the parking space number and pay, it generates a ticket and you're good to go. The app was not convenient at all, and if it's not convenient for the customer, then it's for sure a money grab. I believe the app is designed to eliminate people being able to use the extra time the meter has on it from the previous person. 2/5
