A much better alternative to the Trenton Transit Station for sure. That said, given the volume of traffic moving through this station, the station building itself needs to be expanded. Seating is at a premium. Bathrooms don't come close to accommodating the crowds and the Dunkin inside the building is your only food/beverage option. That said, there is lots of surface and garage parking.

If you are heading to New York from south Jersey Hamilton station is the way to go. It's easy access from 295, easy parking and clean.

This is the most "convenient" NJT train for pretty much all of south jersey/pa/ and Delaware and it shows. Why? Because parking is a guaranteed nightmare- garage is always full and 1/2 -3/4 of the plates are out of state. If the garage is full, put up a sign saying "LOT FULL" and open up some of the million surface spaces. Did they do that? Of course not! I spent more time hunting for parking than I did driving up from cherry hill. On top of that, the posted "customer service" phone # of (609) 689-9350 doesn't work! Then when you hit the "call service" button, the guy will insist that "there are spaces up top" even when I told him I spent 30 minutes driving around and trust me, there are none! His response? Hanging up on me, twice. I spent $3 for the privilege of exiting after this 30 minute stroke inducing "experience," missing my train. Eventually another train came and so some spots did open up. I then re-entered the shitshow of a parking garage for more $. Of course, I will pay accordingly when I get back to my car on Monday morning. My advice: allow an hour to park, expect a nightmare, and try to plan your arrival near an incoming train that's not gonna be yours. Also, don't expect an iota of "service" from the pricks at NJT. This place sucks, but it's all we have down here. Fucking pathetic.

I use this train station whenever I need to go to NYC. It's clean and there is plenty of parking. Daily parking is $8. There are options to leave your car overnight. I've done this a few times without any issue. The lot does offer monthly parking if you want to use it for a work commute. The station services NJ Transit rail line only. Amtrak does not stop at this station. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth, ticket kiosks or electronically by using the NJ Transit app. I've used all options but prefer the app. The app is easy and convenient.

Getting out is a bit cumbersome. Even at off rush hour. Tight especially when cars are on their way up to find spots.

Ask the Community - Hamilton Train Station

We just used the Hamilton Train station for the first time this weekend. I was shocked to see so many cars in the lot. We returned today from NY and lot was still full. Why is it so crowded?

A lot of people are either traveling to NYC for work as many live in NJ, departing from an airport in NYC for vacation, or just traveling as a tourist in NYC.

It's a lot better than having to use the Trenton Station like we did before Hamilton Station was built.

Spending most of my life a little further north, New Brunswick train station was my go to. The parking lots there charge hourly unless you can find street parking or it's Sunday. This being a cheap option, especially since most are still on a hybrid commuting schedule, it may also be an option to not have to get a parking permit, so that's a win! The station is well lit and there is a nice amount of traction during commuting hours which is nice so you don't feel alone. The platform is outside so dress appropriately for the weather.

Ya gotta love Yelp when I found a text for the "10 best train stations in Princeton Junction"…read moresitting in my inbox. As the ONLY train station in Princeton Junction, maybe it's time to update my review. Pre-pandemic this station was subject to horrendous overcrowding and grossly inadequate parking for the Wall Street bedroom community money changers that rose pre-dawn for their daily migration into lower Manhattan. Currently, with WFH still lingering and the exit of many financial houses to the tax free climes of Florida, parking is far easier and in true close the barn door after the horses have run off fashion, a new multi-level parking deck is being constructed to accommodate the waning demand. As for the station, I would offer that clubbing and reverie is not what you're here for. A small coffee shop, ticket machines and wooden benches are your VIP amenities and IF (and it's a big if) the trains are on-time it's 60 minutes (more or less) into the bowels of Penn Station. All aboard, or should I just say, bored. Decent and functional snares four stars for the Junction. In any case, it still beats driving by a mile.

Luckily, I was able to figure out a way to get out of the situation, but I was very, very lucky. I reported it to Septa. They said yes they had a problem with the tracks, but they don't send a bus out if there's a problem. And I said so I have to rely on this station for the next two weeks on the last train, I need to do it at my own risk cause that what you're telling me and he said yes, ma'am. So use this station at your own risk. I think Septa is a company mainly for commuters who don't feel like driving into the city. They have cars for everything else. Very sad Trenton and Greater Philadelphia can do better.

One shelter is there in case of cold weather. It's locked in the summer. Most people wait in their vehicles...parking is free. Parking is on unpaved gravel and dirt in some areas. It's fine though. I've left my vehicle there for long weekends. I had no trouble...not sure what the policy is. There is no security so it's really up to you to be on alert. It's in Ewing, which is very safe. And this area in particular is safe...school of the deaf on one side and NJ manufacturing insurance is vicinal to the station. It's the start of the west trenton line going to Philadelphia. On weekends this line used to go all the way to the airport. They did away with that, unfortunately. If you are an airport traveler, like me, my suggestion is to take this line to Jefferson station. You step off and transfer to the airport line is on the same track. Unlike 30th street station where you have to descend to the lower level and go back up to another track. There is no ticket machine so you have to get the ticket from the conductor. I've also taken the early train (5 am ish time frame). It's desolate and you may be the only traveler or among one or two others at this hour. So, stay in your car if you prefer. I never seen security. I think it would be helpful for Septa or even Ewing to have a car posted there the earliest hour. Aside from that, it's a very solid and safe station. If you do the super early train, just keep your wits about you for idiots. Hope you found this useful!

One of the main means to commute to the heart of Princeton, located at the southern edge of the…read moreuniversity, whereas long ago, it was located close to the entrance of Princeton (near current day Blair Hall of Princeton U), and then relocated to another stop meters south until 2013, which became The Dinky Bar & Kitchen almost a year ago, making this the third iteration, being a part of the current modernization of the university (bigger buildings, more parking). Nowadays, there's plenty of features that can make this station worthwhile to depart and leave from, including a nearby bus/shuttle/taxi stop, Wawa (which to be short, is as shiny as a diamond, even for Princeton U), bike racks, and most of Princeton U to explore, or attend. If commuting by rail, this station is the only way in/out of Princeton, offering a brief 5 minute ride on the historic "Dinky" route, shuttling passengers in/out of Princeton to Princeton Junction (or West Windsor) in a 5 minute ride, from then, you can connect with other routes on the NEC (as south as Trenton, or as north as Newark/New York), and Amtrak's routes. Ticket prices, it's 3$ to go to/from this station to/from Princeton Junction, and to the bewilderment of first timers, it's a separate trip, where the conductors are mostly lenient on making them buy a ticket on the train (3+5$ = 8$), and hypothetically, it'll be: 6.75$ for a Princeton-Trenton ride, 17.75$ for Princeton-New York Penn, or 19$ from Princeton-Newark Liberty Int'l Airport, all one way, but two tickets. In terms of amenities, there's a train shelter/waiting rooms almost immediately near the tracks that are pleasant in winter, open air seating/tables outside, great for summer, 4 NJ Transit TVMs, a Wawa, which in my opinion is leagues better vs the store in Princeton Junction's station, and a bathroom in Wawa. Fortunately, the rooms are open as long as the station is, in contrast to PCJ. The buses outside will offer connections to the rest of Princeton, and nearby communities, such as Montgomery, Lawrence, and more, as well as inside the university, and there's rarely taxis outside. Timing, it can range from an hour, 10 minutes to 90 minutes (70-90) to ride to/from this station to/from NY Penn, 25 minutes to/from Trenton, and 5 minutes to Princeton. Fortunately the "Dinky" arrives in sync most of the time when the (NJT) trains roll in, giving you 2-5 minutes to react and head out, same can be said for the opposite, while giving you ample time to park, purchase tickets, and more. Now for my cons, it's a bit upsetting to have to walk all the way from one end of the university to Nassau Hall to get into Princeton proper, but it's a good way to see the sights and be at peace! In cases of severe storms and/or snow, the line may be disrupted, giving commuters the option of switching to buses. It's an annoyance since the trip may take longer and may not be in tune with PCJ's timing, but at least they honor bus/rail tickets. It's a good station, and with plenty of conveniences, ample time to explore Princeton U, good restaurants/Wawa, and the chance to bike, you're in good hands here. Almost never felt like I was "unsafe here", but I'm sure Princeton U's police give a fair inspection every time. Until next time!
