I came here once to go to the Ichiumi restaurant. The station is small, but at least it has pre-recorded train announcments.

This station has no parking. You need to take a bus to a offsite parking lot. I would avoid.

Oh NJ Transit, how I love and loathe you. Edison Train Station is my local stop on the Northeast…read moreCorridor NJTransit line. It runs directly into New York Penn. The other side will take you to Trenton/Philly. The station has three areas for parking. The main lot, in front of the station, the side lot on the left parallel to the tracks (with the poor paving), and a recently opened lot off of Kilmer Rd, which has alleviated some of the wait list for parking spaces. The ingress to the station is a little tricky, because you have to turn onto Central Ave/Reed St - a residential road, and then race through the one way traffic of the lot, so try not to drive over 35 mph around the turns. Its best not to be late, as there isn't a way to pull in and run to the platform. I like that this station always has a few taxis waiting to take people places. I also like that the main lot makes it easier to get to the NY bound side of the platform. I dislike that the station building is small, has limited seating, is usually kinda dirty, and closes at 8 pm. If you miss your train and its after 8 pm, you have to sit outside. There are overhangs, so at least you don't have to stand in the rain, but its not necessarily comfortable in bad weather. At least there are a lot of benches. The station doesn't staff people, so you do need to know how to use the ticket machines rather than ask a person. The building does have two bathrooms but use at your own peril. Edison train station also has two elevators for those of you that need them. That said, access to the elevator requires going under the overpass, which means walking from the main lot, around the sidewalk down on Plainfield Ave, under the overpass, and then up one of the two elevators. There are stairs that are faster. The sidewalks and stairs are well salted in the winter.

This train station is comparable to any NJ Transit station outside of the downtown area. There are…read moretwo side platforms and two middle tracks for Amtrak trains. There are shelters. There are no screens for train announcments.

Riding the Amtrak train out of town. Amtrak is a convenient option to driving when going up north…read more The train station nearest to me, BWI, is a 20 minute drive. The platform has stairs and elevator access. There was seating in the platform as well. The trains are usually on time with delays of usually a few minutes. We had coach tickets, which are unassigned seating, you usually get on and find the first available seat. The business class seats are assigned seating at an additional cost. The ride proves to be a reliable form of transportation, which at times can be lower than a plane ticket. There is a cafe cart onboard to grab a snack and/or drink. In the Moynihan Train Hall in NYC, there is "Red Cap" service available for those who would like assistance with their luggage. It's an additional cost and well worth it if you have heavier bags and would like first dibs on a seat on your train (especially if you are riding in coach class). Their desk is located near the ticketed waiting lounge and they are identifiable by their red hats/hoodies (NOTE: Make sure you checkin at the desk to get an official red cap associate). All in all, a nice transportation alternative when traveling.

I just wish the Amtrak employees in NJ who couldn't wait one minute for a disabled passenger had 1/1000th of the humanity. I also wish that the only thing I could count on with Amtrak weren't that 99.9% of the time, my train will be canceled, delayed, broken down, or all of the above.

Aberdeen-Matawan is a very busy station! It is located at grade and has two high wall platforms,…read morewith canopies over the north (New York-bound) side of each. There is a fairly large station house on the north side of the northbound platform, which houses a waiting room, a ticket window, and a medium-sized bagel shop, which does wonderful business every day.I am only giving two stars because the station, during the afternoon, doesn't have a sheltered or indoor place to sit on the NY-bound side. It's a major inconvenience on a cold day, and in general, there is inadequate seating. Trains normally seem to be on time, though, and the scenery from the train is superb. Between Perth Amboy and South Amboy, you slowly cross the Raritan River on a low bridge with no siderails, giving the impression that you are on a boat, with an unobstructed scenic view of Staten Island to the northeast. The water views from this line are pretty amazing. Also, in the future, I'd be more inclined to take the bus, since the train on Sundays only runs once hourly NY and Long Branch, whereas the 139 bus runs twice hourly. This train can be packed coming back, and the fact that people occupy valuable seating space with their jackets and feet is very frustrating.

It's a small station not too far from Newark. They have a few small parking lots around the station. There's a lot of construction nearby which has apparently reduced the number of available spaces. The daily fee to park is $6. Be sure to read the signs as some of the spots are reserved for permit parking. They have machines where you can pay to park by space number, however my uncle paid and still got a ticket. You can purchase train tickets at the ticketing machines near the platform. They do not have any ticket agents available. A roundtrip ticket to/from NY Penn was about $20. The price of course varies depending on your destination. It was about $10 to go round trip to Newark Penn. The station has bike racks and lockers. I don't recall seeing any elevators, however they do have ramps to get to the train platform if you aren't able to use the stairs.

Anyway, my family lives relatively close by, so I come here to steal one of their cars to do things like move, do errands, escape New York, etc etc. Heated room if it's cold, ugly aesthetics, and ever climbing ticket prices; but hey it's NJT what do you expect*. --------- *Hopefully not modernism, efficiency, or affordability, because if you are you'll be sorely disappointed.
