But about 5 years ago, the pain wasn't going away after the injection like it usually did, and in fact seemed to be going in a different direction. So, Dr. Keiper ordered an MRI of my left SI joint, and sure enough, that was a new problem. A year or two of successful cortisone injections fixed the problem - until it didn't. Dr. Keiper told me that there was a surgery he could perform that would probably relieve all of my pain, and I agreed to go forward with that plan. But my insurance, Blue Cross, denied me the surgery several times, claiming that it was not medically necessary. After the injections stopped working and surgery was going to be the only way for me to be free of almost constant pain while moving (On the 1 to 10 pain scale, I was between 6 and 8 the majority of my awake hours), which was severely impacting my quality of life. Even doing simple household chores like vacuuming, laundry, gardening, etc., was miserable. Finally, Blue Cross did approve the surgery, which was performed by Dr. Keiper, and the results have been amazing. For all of the years I have been seeing Dr Keiper and his other staff at Keiper Spine, I have always been impressed with the friendliness and professionalism from the front office to the nurses and medical assistants. I would highly recommend Dr. Keiper and his staff to anyone who is looking for relief from back pain. I think he is the best neurosurgeon in Oregon!

Ten years ago I went through the miserable process of bone grafting plus a dental implant for my…read morefront tooth pending a bicycle accident. The process was expensive, miserable, and took place over several months. Dr. Tucker was my oral surgeon. Now, I have to go through the entire process again because the bone grafting has receded, and now the costs are even higher. I asked my current oral surgeon what happened, why the implant must be replaced after new bone grafting? He said he thinks that the first bone grafting was inadequate. What a nightmare, and a terribly expensive one, at that.

We have to compare the horrible mistakes we experienced at Tucker's practice with the…read moreprofessionalism we see at Oregon Medical Group, Oregon Eye Associates, University Hospital in Seattle and the like -- and we won't go back to Oregon Facial & Maxillary (Tucker's business). Tucker's staff didn't refill a vital prescription I requested -- antibiotic for the infection that developed after Tucker performed my surgery, despite my making call after call begging for something to break my high fever. Even our pharmacist tried to get Tucker's practice to stop giving me a useless run-around and renew my prescription as I'd requested four days previously -- she was also sent away with a strikingly unhelpful answer from Tucker's staff :( Without antibiotic for a several days, I developed the worst fever, sweating and chills I'd experienced in over 30 years. No apology from Tucker or his medical staff. Given the medical history that I'd already provided to Tucker, I feel they should have been aware of the strain on my heart from chills that shook me so severely that I couldn't walk from bed to the bathroom -- and a week of fever and night sweats. I had just completed a study for my cardiologist that required me to wear a heart monitor 24/7 (to look at existing problems like my RBBB and tachycardia); I had told Tucker's staff this -- and they evidently took no extra care to protect the health of known cardiac patient. Speaking as consumers, my wife and I are severely disappointed in that area as well: we're not accustomed to paying a professional in ANY field over $2,500 per hour for numerous errors committed in the few hours of service provided -- errors that badly impact the ''customer''s life for over a week. When we stack the performance of Tucker's people up against that of their counterparts in other medical practices or institutions, there is little comparison. Really, we can't blame Tucker's staff for being poorly trained or supervised, but they *could* have simply acted to help a fellow human being in clear medical distress. We will be looking for a more careful and compassionate doctor to complete the remaining surgical procedures that Tucker was to have performed. We've already transferred medical care for the post-op infection to Oregon Medical Group doctors. We are posting this review as a public service to other patients who might want to know these facts about this doctor's practice in order to better decide where to have surgery.

After reading Dr. McCourt's CV I saw that he is a very skilled surgeon. After meeting Dr. McCourt, I found that he is very personable and was very thorough explaining what was going on in my ankle. He was thorough with the examinations and the diagnostic tests. Prior to the surgery he explained some of the things that could go wrong with my type of surgery. I have some health problems that make surgery more difficult. He dealt with that and I have had a beautiful outcome from the surgery. I would highly recommend him. I read the other reviews and I have to say that when shopping for a surgeon a small parking lot really isn't a concern for me It's not like he's my primary care doctor and I'm going to have to be seeing him all the time. As for the office staff, theory were friendly and helpful to me. The skill of the surgeon is the deciding factor for me not the office staff or the parking lot.

I NEVER write reviews. Let me preface this by saying that…read more I was referred to Eugene Foot and Ankle after being seen at PeaceHealth for a potential broken foot. My X-rays at the hospital were inconclusive and said that EF&A would get back to me to schedule within a week or two. To my surprise, they called me the next day! I was thrilled as I was leaving the following week to go home for Christmas. The pain in my foot was insurmountable and I really just wanted answers, sooner rather than later. Even without insurance, it would be worth it to finally know what was happening. The day of my visit, I am not greeted. Rather glared at. I stand I front of both front desk "ladies" Jamie and Cindy as they hardly look up from their computers to speak to me. They rudely ask what they can do for me I say I have an appt they follow up with new patient paperwork yada yada whatever. I fill out the paperwork and as I'm doing so they get real close and start whispering about me, not very slick ladies. You might wanna try harder next time when you're in a dead silent office and I'm right in front of you. I hand Cindy the paperwork and she, in the same rude tone, asks me for my insurance and ID. I said I don't have insurance. (As I've stated multiple times on the phone when I was scheduling this appt.) She said okay and I ask what the payment for the appt is going to be, she gives me a range of $150-350 of which I couldn't afford that day unfortunately. I recognize that there's nothing they can do about the price and no way of knowing what it was going to be exactly until after the appt, that's fine. I'm not unreasonable. But what's fully in their control? Their attitude and treatment of their potential clients. I'm highly considering saying F it and going somewhere else because of how rude, unprofessional, and callous these women are to someone who is obviously broke, in pain, and out of options. Maybe keep that in mind that these people are the first impression of this business, and if the doctors are anything like them, I'm good. I'd rather keep limping around a few more weeks and find somewhere else, and upon reading other reviews it appears I'm making the right decision.
