had scheduled appt. arrived half hour early as requested. waiting room very full with lines awaiting check in. once that was done i sat down and waited. after an hour... and the lines still very long I walked out and called from my car in the parking lot. The Dr. had been called to emergency surgery, this i understand but could someone have checked the waiting area to notify his appts that we were waiting. and then i was charged for the appt anyway. im sure they are good drs, but i think they could run the office better. i suppose it was a really crazy day, stuff happens. still. its an hour and a half drive for me. read more

Big shout out to the whole staff at Oregon Neurosurgery! They were amazing, supportive and very caring. I was slow to regain movement in my legs after receiving a shot and they had to stay late to make sure I was able to make it home safe. I've had two separate referrals sent over and still can't get an appointment. I've left multiple voicemails with no response. I've called almost daily for over three weeks and still am getting the runaround, all the while in significant pain. If possible I'd see if your doctor can refer you some place else. read more

I am between a rock and a hard place right now as I am evaluating 2 different experiences and one that is still in progress! I will update my rating if my experience changes. 2/3/18-During my very first appointment, I was weary as the front office staff seemed chippy and disgruntled to have to do extra work, like photocopying a med list. I got a bit more nervous about the assistant who seemed to be having a bad morning and was rude about the number of medications she had to go through with me but then the doctor came in and things turned around and I felt despite my other interactions, the doctor seemed tuned into what was going on with my neck and what needed to be done to make it better! Dr. Bilbao, "assured" me he could fix my neck stenosis and the loss of feelingin my arm. It was a minimally invasive surgery with a few days in the hospital. Dr. Bilbao "practiced" a 5 level, was suppose to be 3 level (I found out about the change while at a PT appt!), Cervical Fusion on me. When I called for 3rd follow up, it was 1 yr & 6 days after my surgery & I was told he required MRI since had been 1yr. SIX DAYS AFTER 1 YR MARK! I WAS REFUSED AN APPT! In talking to Sara, his so unfriendly assistant, I asked if there was a way to make an exception given the complications. She came back with a "NO IMAGING, NO APPT!" What then proceeded to be a cluster with insurance and theeir requirements and all, finally got to where my PC dr said he had the ok for me to make appt. So appt made with a NP, I was then informed I would be coming as a New Patient because Bilbao no longer worked there. The exact words were "he's gone" when I asked where, I was told "we aren't allowed to give that information" zoh nothing shady there! The day before my appointment with Hiro, I receive a call from Sarah to CANCEL my appointment because I don't have any images on file for them to look at. I explained what happened and my PC telling me to make the appointment, her response was "Well, I told you until we have imaging we won't see you, PERIOD! How many times do I have to tell you this?" WOW! NEVER in my life have I ever been talked to in this fashion! 10/14/19-I am now,14 months later, still trying to find an Doctor to fix the botched surgery that has left me with not only worse symptoms, but kyphosis and SEVERE CONSTANT pain. I hope it's not too late & Fusion isn't completely set! I have also found out that being only 6 days past the 1yr, I could have been scheduled for an appointment and the doctor could have ordered imaging and I wouldn't have had to wait and pay extra $$$ for PT, etc to satisfy insurance. I had a follow up finally with a Neurosurgeon. Upon scheduling the appointment, I asked about who I should schedule with, if any handled more Fusions or cervical cases and I was told "well, I don't know who to schedule it with, that is up to you. I don't know much about them and what they do." Oh, ok! While I got a small passive aggressive slap on the hand for being a few minutes late for the check in time- no one bothered to mention they moved their office to a different building on the Riverbend campus (that would be a helpful piece of information!) The front staff was, otherwise, decent and I was able to get into Patrick Sawyerfairly quckly. He seemed nice enough, was open, straight forward, doctor-y but was able to be emphatic. But, he didn't have much he could do and was confused (as was I) why he was given my appointment when the referral was for a neurosurgeon not a PA. I am in almost 2 weeks past my follow up and 3 phone calls with no return call to schedule with a surgeon. FOREWARNING: ALWAYS ALWAYS ask what's the worst outcome if we do this? Be prepared for it to be a reality. Weight all the options before saying yes! Don't be afraid to go outside your comfort box or to go with the option that may take longer, while I didn't have any other options than the Fusion, I would have liked to have known what the worst case would be! I only have good things to say about Oregon Neurosurgery. The office staff is really wonderful, very efficient, polite, answered all my questions and returned calls the same day. I had been suffering for well over a year with severe nerve pain radiating down both legs. I had to walk bent over because the pain was so bad when I straightened up. I had been going to another neuro pain clinic, getting steroid shots which didn't help and I finally decided to make the move to Oregon Neurosurgery. I was able to get in fairly soon with Dr Kokkino. He already had my MRI and knew what was needed to solve my problem. I had lumbar surgery and first time I was up to walk it was like a miracle had happened. He is a wonderful surgeon, great bedside manner, all around nice guy. I highly recommend him and this office. read more

My worst personal experience with any Dr's office, ever!! Noncommunicative! Won't return calls! Had me wait Six weeks to see a surgeon that told me she would put in the Prior Auth to my ins and we would be looking at a turnaround time of about 10 days. Then 2-3 weeks for surgery. It has been 5 weeks since I saw the Dr and have had ZERO communications. I called to see what was happening and I am now told my Surgeon is NOT approved by my Ins! Completely unprofessional office Manager who has never one time returned any of my calls. Looking for a new surgeon! read more

I was referred to Oregon Neurosurgery following an MVA I was in. Due to the MVA I have multi-system injuries. I was seen by a NP in the office, who appeared to already have my diagnosis figured out and coming into the exam to see me was a courtesy. They dismissed my questions and concerns. I was set up for an injection from one of the pain providers in the office. My first meeting with this individual was in the pre-op room, prior to them placing a needle in my spine. I don't believe they ever actually looked at me while talking to me, but did inform me that just because I am in pain does not mean I am broken, everyone my age has herniation's. I ended up calling the office manager to complain about the care I feel was not being given. I was back in the office to see the same NP and the individual had to read through their notes, they did not remember anything about my case. It was like I was a new patient again. The notes this provider wrote were not complete and due to that I have run into issues with the VA service connecting the injuries. I called the office to see if the provider could write a follow up letter for me and I was informed the provider had quit without any notice and no other provider would assist me. I had to be re-referred for any assistance. My provider did re-refer me and they denied to see me stating I was not a surgical candidate. I called the office manager to seek assistance and let her know what was happening. After months of calling and leaving messages I finally received a return call, not from the office manager, but someone she punted the issue to stating there was nothing they could do except give me chart notes. I do not suggest this facility to anyone who wants actual care. read more

Thank you oregon neurosurgery specialists for being unable to handle a referral. I really appreciate having to call you repeatedly to see that you got referral and schedule appointment. The fact the your office staff has an inconsistent ability to even find my name in your records is less than reassuring. Not once have I received a call from anyone in your office, and I waited more than a week before I called your office the first time and 6 days the second time. After reading the other review I am already agreeing them, even as my referral to this office is not complete. The office person has not been able to "find" the referral that my MD. has faxed over several days ago, and my MD gave me a copy of the referral. When I asked her if she could call my MD. office she raised the pitch and loudness of her voice to advise me it was not her job. I called my MD office and was very nicely advised they would fax it over again. I did not receive a phone call from this office, so at the end of the day (about 4:00 - 4:30) I again left a message asking if it was received, and if so could I make an appointment. No return call. Which brings another question to mind- why are the phone calls not picked up? How arrogant. I think I will go to the office in person, since she won't pick up, just to make the appointment. Not a good experience with this office so far. Update: I found out through the initial phone connection Dr. Hutton does not have a receptionist. All new appointments go through a scheduler for the entire department. I requested contact with the manager of the scheduler and left a message concerning my difficulty with communications. Very soon afterwards I received a call from the scheduler with an appointment in a very nice tone. I have since upgraded my stars. read more

Thank you Oregon Neurosurgery for being so disrespectful to the needs of people with disabilities Because I was forced to see a neurosurgeon six years ago., instead of seeing Dr. Kosek whoI have seen since 1999.Now he won't have anything to do with me. Your office doesn't .except referrals for second opinions. Even my orthopedic surgeon sutrgeon says that the pain is cause from my sciatic nerve. From past experience, just because the scans don't show anything that doesn't mean there's nothing wrong. I think you need to need to change your policy I think you whether see someone who is in constant and extreme pain commit suicide than try to help them. You won't have to worry because I will be dead, no thanks to Dr. Kosek and your whole team. read more
