I NEVER write reviews. Let me preface this by saying that. I was referred to Eugene Foot and Ankle after being seen at PeaceHealth for a potential broken foot. My X-rays at the hospital were inconclusive and said that EF&A would get back to me to schedule within a week or two. To my surprise, they called me the next day! I was thrilled as I was leaving the following week to go home for Christmas. The pain in my foot was insurmountable and I really just wanted answers, sooner rather than later. Even without insurance, it would be worth it to finally know what was happening. The day of my visit, I am not greeted. Rather glared at. I stand I front of both front desk "ladies" Jamie and Cindy as they hardly look up from their computers to speak to me. They rudely ask what they can do for me I say I have an appt they follow up with new patient paperwork yada yada whatever. I fill out the paperwork and as I'm doing so they get real close and start whispering about me, not very slick ladies. You might wanna try harder next time when you're in a dead silent office and I'm right in front of you. I hand Cindy the paperwork and she, in the same rude tone, asks me for my insurance and ID. I said I don't have insurance. (As I've stated multiple times on the phone when I was scheduling this appt.) She said okay and I ask what the payment for the appt is going to be, she gives me a range of $150-350 of which I couldn't afford that day unfortunately. I recognize that there's nothing they can do about the price and no way of knowing what it was going to be exactly until after the appt, that's fine. I'm not unreasonable. But what's fully in their control? Their attitude and treatment of their potential clients. I'm highly considering saying F it and going somewhere else because of how rude, unprofessional, and callous these women are to someone who is obviously broke, in pain, and out of options. Maybe keep that in mind that these people are the first impression of this business, and if the doctors are anything like them, I'm good. I'd rather keep limping around a few more weeks and find somewhere else, and upon reading other reviews it appears I'm making the right decision. read more

Dusty the head doctor of the practice has delusions of grandeur. He is a complete incompetent. I went in to have ingrown toenails dealt with. He told me clipping toenails was beneath him I got up to leave. He told me to sit back down and then proceeded to clip. Next time I went to a manicurist. She was excellent. read more

I would agree with other reviewer that visiting this clinic was a waste of my time and money. And yes, on my first visit unneeded xrays were done and submitted to insurance, but that just came out of my pocket for a deductible. At the first visit I was provided with a medication, a list of exercises and stretches and some different shoes. I did all these things and felt better until I ran out of medication. I went back for the recommended followup and was told during my 2.5 minute visit there wasn't anything else to do (so not sure why a follow up was needed in the first place then). Dr McCourt did say he would send a refill of the prescription and a referral to a physical therapist. I was told not to call the therapist, they would reach out to me. After a reasonable amount of time plus extra time to account for the holiday, I went to the pharmacy and found no refill was ever sent. I then called the therapy place and they also said no referral was ever sent. I considered calling EF&A to remind them they didn't do their job, but when I considered how uninterested or perhaps distracted Dr McCourt was during my exceedingly brief visit, I decided to look elsewhere for care. I shouldn't have to remind someone to follow through with care. They did not, however, forget to send the bill. I sent a letter telling them I never received any of the promised treatments and heard crickets. No response, no call, no reply. But a second bill arrived, so I did reach out again to find out Dr McCourt felt he should still be paid although he and his staff didn't fulfill his end of the bargain. That's pretty disappointing. When I asked why the promised script and referral were never sent, no one could say. It goes without saying that I cannot recommend this doctor or his staff. I do wish I had clicked on link at the bottom of the review page about this business's other hidden reviews on this site. read more

Dr. McCourt took excellent care of my teenager when they had an uncommon bone growth on the tip of their toe. Dr. McCourt talked us through what we were dealing with and the options for resolving. He was thorough and patient centric. My teen was talked to like a partner in the process, which I deeply appreciated. We trust Dr. McCourt. He has a high standard of care and he is hands-on in the running of his clinic - service excellence is apparent! read more

I was looking for a podiatrist and found this one online. I tried to set up an appointment on their website by submitting a appointment request form. Two weeks went by and I heard nothing. So I tried calling them and left a message asking for a call back to set up an appointment. Another week later and I give up. I'm giving them two stars because I haven't actually been to their clinic. Business must be wicked good for them not to respond to potential new clients. I have been dealing with ingrown toenails for over 5 years and I didn't know anything could be done. It got to the point where I couldn't even walk on my foot. When I came in to see Dr McCourt I wasn't expecting much that could be done but the same day he did a permanent procedure for my toe and it has changed my life. I was referred to Dr McCourt when I needed a bone spur removed. I was surprised that my podiatrist referred me as he does surgeries. After reading Dr. McCourt's CV I saw that he is a very skilled surgeon. After meeting Dr. McCourt, I found that he is very personable and was very thorough explaining what was going on in my ankle. He was thorough with the examinations and the diagnostic tests. Prior to the surgery he explained some of the things that could go wrong with my type of surgery. I have some health problems that make surgery more difficult. He dealt with that and I have had a beautiful outcome from the surgery. I would highly recommend him. I read the other reviews and I have to say that when shopping for a surgeon a small parking lot really isn't a concern for me It's not like he's my primary care doctor and I'm going to have to be seeing him all the time. As for the office staff, theory were friendly and helpful to me. The skill of the surgeon is the deciding factor for me not the office staff or the parking lot. read more

My experience with Dr McCourt was excellent. He is down-to-earth, approachable, and candid about options and outcomes. I work on the east coast, but was in Eugene visiting family for a while, when I realized I was developing a painfully ingrown toenail. The pain was enough that I was prepared to pay out of pocket, but his wonderful staff went the extra mile, making additional calls to ascertain that he was indeed in my insurance network and that care would be covered. Luckily I had sought help with my problem right away, and the procedure was swift and largely painless. Recovery has been quick as well. He is a real person---highly recommended! read more

Dr. Colby Carlson is a new podiatrist at this Health Center. He was extremely helpful and very focused as to the source of my foot pain. He explained very clearly what just might be the cause of my pain. After x-rays on my foot and then later an MRI, the results on the MRI did not confirm that I needed surgery and that there were other options. He offered some suggestions and I am grateful that he knew that surgery is always the last option. Jan H. read more

My two visits to Dr. McCourt were a huge disappointment and waste of time. I cannot recommend him or his foot clinic to anyone, not based upon what I sadly experienced. Let me tell you why. I have a bad callous on the bottom of a toe that causes pain when I walk, hike, or workout at the gym. After trying home remedies and OTC products from the store that did not help I searched for a podiatrist. I contacted Dr. McCourt's clinic. I told the gal I needed a callous removed, did they do that, and would my insurance cover it. She said "yes" to both questions. I arrived at the clinic solely for a callous to be removed. What I encountered was nothing short than an attempt at a pure money-grab, viewing me as a 'cash-cow' and not a human in need of medical assistance. Next thing I know his assistant tells me they have to x-ray my feet. I ask if it is covered by insurance. I am told "I do not know". I tell her that I do not want anything done to me that isn't covered by insurance. They x-ray me for what I was never really told (I think it was all about money). Doctor finally comes in and never does do anything about my purpose there, the callous. I have to remind him after he tried to sell me insoles and new shoes, to the tune of about $600 that is not covered by insurance, about the callous. He spends all of two minutes looking at it and tells me to use a pumice stone. So much for why I came there. He also prescribes an anti-inflammatory and tells me to come back in one month. I contacted my primary care doctor to see if the medication he prescribed is contraindicated with the medication I am already taking and a previous health condition I have. I am told in no uncertain terms it would require me taking different medication, not to use it for more than a couple of weeks IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY as it could cause me a heart-attack or death. I decide not to take this medication. I return today for follow-up. I tell the assistant I felt my last visit was a waste of time, no relief, what my PCP advised, and that all I ever wanted was the callous removed. She then tells me it may not be covered by my insurance. I ask her to find out if it is. She refuses and wants me to sign a document indicating I will pay for the procedure if the insurance won't. I remind her that the only reason I was there in the first place was to remove the callous, that it was ignored in my last visit, that I was told it was covered or I wouldn't even be there. When I was told she would not have the office staff check with my insurance to determine if it was covered I told her I was leaving. I also reminded her that they better not charge my insurance for the office visit as nothing was done. She said "I will have to ask the doctor about that, it is up to him". If you are thinking about seeing Dr. McCourt be careful, they are vague and less-than-honest in the monetary aspect of their business. I am filing a complaint against this clinic with my insurance company. read more

Great staff, beautiful clinic, and Dr. Rincker! My first visit here was wonderful. I have been dealing with chronic foot pain and Dr. Rincker made short work of my diagnosis. She explained everything and made my visit feel comfortable and enjoyable. She is very knowledgeable, personable and friendly. I am appalled at the experience and service my sister just received at this center. She is experiencing a very confusing and painful condition and was seeking support and diagnosis, but instead the Doctor was short, uninterested and rude throughout - starting with her over-hearing the Doctor insult her for writing a long list of her experiences and symptoms to the nurse, followed by sarcastic comments and abrupt timeouts - literally doing a "T" for timeout with his hands while she was talking to ask what he wanted. To top it all off, this center treats all kinds of foot issues but had no clean or protective measures to keep patients feet clean, but rather having them take their shoes and socks off and then have to walk across their floor to the chair! Really?! The last thing anyone needs is ANOTHER foot problem passed along from someone else. She was too nice to say anything but your office seriously needs to step it up a notch or 10. And, the doctor couldn't help her at all, so she spent $$$ to be treated poorly and leave without any help or solution. Do not recommend. read more

My daughter decided to go see Dr McCourt after not having much luck with other foot doctors. I was very impressed and pleased with the whole experience. He made us both feel completely comfortable from the start. He has a great sense of humor, is very professional and knows what he's doing! He gave excellent advice and backed it up with an MRI. He gave options besides surgery that are achievable for my daughter since she can't take time off work. It is already helping. She is able to walk so much better with what he has provided and her pain level has went WAY down. Plus he has a longer term plan already in place. Thank you so much! My middle-aged sister's little toe had mysteriously migrated a few inches up toward her ankle. It was painful and it impossible for her to wear a shoe comfortably or even walk a shopping mall. Her general practitioner referred her to a podiatrist, who suggested she get bigger shoes and said he could not help her any further. I became her advocate and accompanied her to a second podiatrist appointment. Again, this doctor was at a loss and said he could not help either. We asked the second podiatrist for a referral to somebody that might be able to provide a diagnosis, as my sister's quality of life was seriously compromised. He suggested the local, what I like to call "Big-Box Orthopedics Center." I was familiar with this money-mill from family members' experiences there - the progressive and impersonal appointments, the repeating of the ailment to each new "specialist," the long anticipation of eventually working up to an actual surgeon. We asked for a different referral. This is when we were given the name of Dr. Michael J. McCourt, DPM. Dr. McCourt took a genuine interest in my sister's ailment. Although he had never seen a case like hers, he was not afraid to tackle it. Dr. McCourt took the time to fully answer any questions my sister or I had, and involved her in the decision-making every step of the way. Through Dr. McCourt, we learned that she'd broken a bone in her foot several years back (without knowing it.) After years of pain and compensating for the break, her toe and heel, along with tendons had overcompensated and become repositioned and crooked Dr. McCourt performed a complicated several hour-long surgery on my sister's foot, ankle and calf repositioning everything to as close as it could be to normal. She is now on the road to recovery. Dr. McCourt and his staff provided personable, quality, care for my sister. When she asked him to call me after surgery, Dr. McCourt did so and left me his cell number in case I had further questions. Even if I set aside the positive experience of working with Dr. McCourt and his staff, his stellar surgical skills alone would be worth seeing him. I am grateful that there are still independent doctors such as Dr. Michael McCourt, and would highly recommend him for any podiatry needs. read more

This business is amazing. I hate scheduled exercising. Dr. McCourt made me feel as though he really cared about me and wanted me to get well, and I felt as though I WANTED to exercise. That's quite a skill. More than the psychological impact, he knew what he was doing. I had ankle pain last year and was referred to Dr. McCourt by my physician. Dr. McCourt started small to see what would work for me. We did shims, orthodics, braces and physical therapy. I was impressed by the fact that Dr. McCourt didn't just say I needed surgery. He started small and monitored me carefully. They physical therapy helped a lot. I also had a prescription for permanent braces which eases my pain considerably. So, no surgery for me. Although I can't do zumba or other activities any longer I am not in pain. That was the biggest thing. I am grateful for the options offered and given by Dr. McCourt and his staff. Everyone is friendly and helpful and remembers me. Surgery may be necessary down the road, but for now I am doing well thanks to Dr. McCourt and his staff. Thank you! read more

My client and I (a RN of nearly 30 years) went to Urgent care yesterday late afternoon, we received an order for antibiotics from the Urgent care Doc but C needed to be seen by a podiatrist (for a surgical procedure) asap. Dr. McCourt was the only doc out of 4 they called who would squeeze him in, kindly giving us an appt for this am at 0800. From the time we walked through the office door ALL the staff and Dr McCourt were very kind, patient, attentive to detail and professional. We were there for an extended period which I know burdened the team, but one would never have known based on their demeanor. From now on, if any of my clients, family or friends need to see a podiatrist, I'll offer a referral for Dr. McCourt and his team, as my first choice! Thank you Dr M and Team, you are awesome!!!!! Dr. McCourt is fantastic! He has worked thoroughly with me on my foot issues, and wasn't just wanting to hop right to the surgery option. He has worked with me trying alternative treatments, knowing I only wanted surgery as a last resort. The entire staff is so friendly and helpful. On Dec 3 2012, I had a hemiarthoplasty for end stage hallux rigidus of the right toe. Michael McCourt of Eugene Foot and Ankle performed this surgery. I was advised that recovery would be 4-6 weeks with therapy. On Jan 9, 2013, I returned to Eugene Foot and Ankle with severe pain thinking I may have gout, it was determined negative with the possibility of a septic joint. That was also determined negative. I continued to have pain; my primary complaint was bruising on the underside of the big right toe(first metatarsal joint) and severe pain upon dorsal and plantar flexion. I also experienced hypersensitivity to the big toe upon touch. I was told it was due to the impact of the joint replacement. On January 25 Dr. McCourt told me that I might be experiencing a nickel allergy and rejection of the implant. He handed me a box of Kleenex and offered an apology. I was devastated as he went on to say that I would need another surgery, involving a bone graph and fusion. He said the implant needed to come out. I decided at this point that I was receiving sub standard care and immediately questioned his diagnostic skills. Ne never once suggested advanced imaging to support his claim. I decided to get a second opinion and set up an appointment with Dr. Strassar at Slocum Orthopedics in Eugene. I requested advanced imaging and it was determined that I had degenerative sesamoid arthritis and that the implant was possibly impinging the fibular sesamoid, I was not in rejection. Dr. Strassar suggested a cast and treated me for sesamoiditis. Upon removal of the cast the inflammation was still present and he recommended removal of the joint and a fusion/bone graph and possible excision of the sesamoid bones. He told me I would be in a non weight-bearing cast for 6 weeks and another 6 weeks of a post op boot. The limitations of this procedure would further inhibit my modality. Feeling frustrated and hopeless I decided on yet a third opinion out of state. I set up an appointment with Dr. Michael Brage, a UW Medicine Foot and Ankle surgeon at the Harborview Foot and Ankle Institute in Seattle. After a lengthy consult and imaging review, he also concluded that I would need to have the implant removed requiring a fusion/bone graph with a cadaver bone and stem cell from the knee. He explained the risks and possibility of the bones not fusing, which would require yet another surgery to correct the issue. He also confirmed degenerative sesamoid arthritis, rather than sesamoid arthritis. I asked him why the original surgery failed and he clearly stated that in the presence of degenerative sesamoid arthritis, this type of implant does not address the resurfacing of the sesamoid bone and that he would have no done this type surgery. Dr. Brage is currently working with implant manufacturers to develop an implant that addresses the resurfacing of the sesamoid bone. After 4 months of not knowing why I was not healing, I finally had an understanding as to why the surgery failed. It has been emotionally devastating; seven months post surgery I am unable to do the things I used to do pre surgery. This failed surgery has changed my life, I do not dance anymore, have taken a break from tennis and hiking. Plantar and dorsal flexion are painful, and my overall gate has been affected. When I walk I tend to supinate to unload the first metatarsal, which is a constant reminder of the limitations I now live with. I have and continue to receive physical therapy to gain movement in the big toe, which is now fused due to immobilization. After my consultation with Dr. Brage, I decided to have one more meeting with Dr. McCourt; I asked him if he would have done the surgery if he had known I had degenerative arthritis, he said no. Dr. McCourt's failure to do advanced imaging resulted in a contraindicated surgery. read more

This guy McCourt is a scam, he prays on older patients who don't ask questions when he ask them to pay out of pocket for appointments. He likes to double dip from assurance fraud to treating people like shit. He comes off as a friendly guy at first, he had to fooled, I trusted this man I thought he did a decent job on my ankle but when I got a second and third look at his handy work by other specialist they said he messed up my ankle by not preforming the surgery half fast. This guy tried to charge me out of pocket for some of the medical cost out of my own pocket, come to find out my insurance had already paid for those medical cost already. When confronted him about his sneaky scam he told me to find another doctor!! Like really he didn't even finish the job on my ankle, I was blown away. So I had to go else where, when I was told by two other specialists he had done a not so good operation on my ankle. He caused damage to my ankle by placing 3 screws in wrongly causing my bone damage. And splitting more bone. I'm just shocked I went to doctor McCourt because I believed he was the best, just to find first hand how this scam artist works, if you don't want to get on this guys bad side don't question his method of double dipping from your pocket and insurance pocket as well. read more

Great clinic, Dr. McCourt is the best podiatrist I've seen in the PNW. I've been dealing with toenail fungus since I was 15 (now 25). Tried everything from topical treatment to medication but the fungus persisted and nearly destroyed the nails on four of my toes. I became very self-conscious about how my nails looked and researched a bunch options, even considered removing the nailbeds completely. Finally, I stumbled upon KeryFlex Nail Restoration, a quick and easy application of a "fake" nail done by a podiatrist. I live outside of Portland but this clinic was the only one offering the service anywhere near me. I do not regret the two-hour drive at all and plan on returning every few months to have KeryFlex applied periodically (results should last about that long). I am absolutely thrilled with how my nails turned out! They actually look like real toenails, I'm super excited that I can finally get a professional pedicure and wear open-toed shoes again. Dr. Dusty McCourt is very personable and easy to talk to. He seems genuinely interested in helping to resolve your issues. His office staff is always good about getting your appointment scheduled in a timely manner, and I have never felt rushed when I am being seen--even when they have worked me in on short-notice. I leave with all of my issues addressed, my questions answered, and I always feel treated as a real person, not just a "problem" to be dealt with. Truly, Dr McCourt IS as good as it gets. I was walking up the Ridgeline Trail yesterday and realized I'd never thanked him for the part he played in my ability to once again hike and sweat. Dr McCourt was the third doctor I saw regarding my foot pain. Dr #1 gave me orthotics and when I explained it still hurt, told me not to walk so far. Dr #2 said I needed injections and without those I would end up walking with a brace for the rest of my days. #3 was Dr McCourt. I read his CV and reviews and decided to go for one more opinion. Dr McCourt reviewed my MRI, explained why the only option for my ruptured tendon would be surgery. No one likes elective surgery, but 5 months out I am a 66 year old woman who can do everything I want, hiking, gym, etc., without pain. I thank Dr McCourt for that. He is a respectful, funny, competent surgeon who really stands with his patients. He takes the time to answer any questions and educate on those you do not know to ask. As an RN, I am grateful for his attention to my condition and knowledge on how to fix it. I highly recommend him. read more

I have put a lot of miles on these babies (I'm 69) AND I had had numerous other podiatrist scare me with the type of shoes i "needed" to wear. Well, Dr. McCourt totally relieved me of the "guilt" that I felt "not complying" with those Dr's perspectives. This Dr. had a very different view and it really was more fitting with my lifestyle. He is a very laid-back, concerned, super-intelligent professional. And I HIGHLY recommend him. I don't post a lot on YELP but this appointment was life-changing! I am a Registered Nurse and a Nursing Supervisor at a local hospital. During my twenty seven years of nursing services here, I have had many opportunities to have interactions and observations of many doctors. This is why nurses know which doctor to go to when needed, or to refer a family member to. I had been having pain when walking for a couple years which gradually got to the point of having to be seen about this. I immediately chose Dr. McCourt and not regretted it for one minute. I have watched him in action with some very complicated surgeries. I watch his communications with the patients and nurses. I watch the immediate recovery of the patients. Dr. McCourt is a very caring person. He individualizes care and is patient in his explanations regarding the problem, the treatment, and the recovery. I had surgery on March 7, 2014 and he is very happy with my progress, and so am I. Granted I won't be dancing, hiking or playing tennis for a while, but that is the trade-off for the repair. There is always the possibilities of complications which he explained to me very clearly. Fortunately, I had none. I definitely would encourage anyone with foot issues to make an appointment with Dr. McCourt. He is awesome. His staff is pretty awesome also. read more

We booked to have Dr. McCourt remove some warts from our daughters foot and finger. When I called I told them the removal of the wart on her finger was top priority and I also wanted the feet taken care of as well. When we got there though the doctor refused to take them out I was also told while we were in the room to be seen that he doesn't remove from the hand because he isn't legally able to do so. (Things that should have disclosed to me before I bring in my daughter to be seen.) Then he said she needed to take a medicine before having them removed surgically. He said the Medicine would make the wart go away on their own and the surgery wouldn't be needed. We are now several months down the road and absolutely nothing has been accomplished and her feet hurt more now than before. I then get sent a ridiculous bill and when I call to dispute it I was treated very rudely by his staff. I would HIGHLY recommend going anywhere other than Eugene Foot and Ankle. I would give zero stars, but it isn't an option!!! read more

They examined everything thoroughly and took every precaution to make sure I don't further injure my foot. I am very happy with their service and will absolutely look them up in the future. Beware Extortion Policy. I made an appointment to have my foot looked at by Dr. M. I showed up early, the appointment was at 1pm, and the office door did not open to let patients in until 1:07. This health group has a policy of forcing patients to sign a contract whereby you agree to pay them $50 if you cannot make your appointment. I did not think it appropriate to sign this document as NO OTHER PROVIDER has EVER asked me to sign something like this. Although I was on time for my appointment, provided my insurance info, and they were late, they would not see me unless I signed their document. Apparently this over-inflated-ego of a practice values their time more than they value their patients. I wasted 1.5 hours of my time and think they should pay me for the time they wasted. What a totally ridiculous Policy. Pretty sure this initial experience is just the tip of the iceberg with these folks. Steer clear of this practice if at all possible. read more

I went to see Dr Sarah Rinacker with a small ingrown growth on the ball of my foot. It was quite painful and I was limping a lot. She scraped and carved a little and said "there that should fo it, but it may come back in a year or so". I expected it would be sore for a couple days then get better. The pain never changed, so after a week I asked for another appt with Dr Rinacker. She was booked up and they gave me another Dr. At my appt they asked for another co-pay of $35. I said "no, this is for something that didn't get done properly last week". "Well, they said, this is another Dr today". I said, you mean to tell me that not only do you want another co-pay but Medicare is going to be billed again for this same procedure? Can't you take a look at this at a no charge? No, I was informed by the office manager (I asked to speak with her) and that would be fraud. I left and went to another Dr that took good care of me. I reported this to my Insurance Company and they contacted the Clinic. The Clinic told my Insurance Company that they never said it would be fraud. Now why in the world would I ever make something like that up? I don't know that I can rate Dr Rinacker fairly, I feel sure she thought she had done her job. As far as I know the office manager never gave a Dr a chance to rectify this, and I do not know if they are aware of what transpired. I sure do know how I rate the office staff, and I feel that office manager should be fired. When you have a person in a position like that you do need to know that they are truthful. Watch you step is all I can say. I do not think it was fair to me or to Medicare to ask for more money for the same procedure a few days later. No wonder Medicare is going broke if this is the practice in many medical offices. read more

i was referred to Dr. McCourt by a general surgeon after four weeks of visiting Urgent Care for an inflamed and infected foot. I had a puncture wound through the callous layer that had closed allowing it not to drain. I am also diabetic. The surgeon said that it should not be opened, on my visit to Dr. McCourt the next morning he x-rayed and did an Ultrasound on the foot. He advised opening the foot and cleaning out the infected tissue. He performed this surgery in office. Within 3 days I felt better and progress towards healing had began. The culture of the infected tissue allowed him to refine the antibiotics and he placed a wound-vac on the site which we used for about 2 weeks. My foot healed faster than he predicted and I am back to normal activities after 6 weeks. He was also careful to properly train my husband in the care needed between visits to his office.
