Kay White just airs peace, serenity, strength, courage, and embodies everything I wanted to be as a woman. The house is full of positive energy and the morning meditation and yoga sessions taught me how to check in with myself and be true to myself. It was an outlet for the angst and pain. The women I lived with became family for not just 8 months but for life! Everything from the food to the movies we watched at Villa Kali Ma were grounding and healthy. House activities like meetings (Aa or alternatives) hiking, yoga and breath workshops, spiritual event, dinner, movies, concerts kept us busy and active in our recovery. The facility does get a few stars for the fluff and luxury, just do not expect an experience that will lend to true recovery. UPDATE: I find it interesting that this center had received no reviews since Feb 2022, then three reviews happen immediately after my review on 3/21/23. Seems an obvious possibility that the center retaliated against my post by sending notification out to their network, coaching them for 5 star reviews. Yet another example of the inauthenticity of this place.

I have been to many physical therapists over the last 40 years. Nina and Tyler at Highline Physical therapy are the best by far. Unlike PT mills, where you see the physical therapist for maybe 15 minutes and are then poorly ministered to by frequently disinterested aides, at Highline I get 50 minutes of undivided attention from my therapist. Tyler and Nina work wonders with hands on deep tissue bodywork and appropriate stretching and strengthening exercises. They make sure I am doing my exercises properly and follow my progress carefully. I am so pleased with their work that I paid out of pocket for PT on my knees for a month before my insurance kicked in. About 5-6 days into my stay, I decided to go home! I knew I was going to be okay and so the next day, I notified the head administrator I'd be leaving the following day. The same day I was asked to sign discharge papers, and later that evening, during routines, they gave me a 'new' medication that I swallowed without thinking. I went back to my room and my arms and legs started tingling. I went to find a night nurse, snd finally found her in the garage. She was weirdly unresponsive and treated me like I was no longer their patient or responsibility. By then my limbs had turned to rubber. I should have opted to go to the ER rather than ride it out. With Covid starting to hit CA, it was a good thing I didn't go to the hospital. I'd clearly been given someone else's meds that night but they never gave me a straight answer. I was awake all that night and had to cancel my 7am flight. When I finally made it to the airport later the next day, I had to be wheeled out to the gate. When I left Aton they literally sent me home with a plastic shopping bag full of meds they'd prescribed that I'd literally never seen before! I had no idea what all the meds were even for. I still have them! When I originally signed my discharge docs I gave Aton an excellent review. I've regretted giving that positive review for years. I followed up with Aton a month or so after I got home but the administrator or legal expert who called was totally unapologetic and denied ANY & ALL culpability relating to my experience. I would not recommend Aton.

Also scheduling is a nightmare, over 3 weeks the best I could get is 4 appointments, that's basically 1 session per week! I would have to fight for openings with every other patient when a text would come through with the new opening, if I didn't reply right away it was gone. Why can't I just book 3 appointments a week, why do I have to fight to get an appointment?

When I was picked up they sent a house manager to get me and he really started to ask question and seemed really sincere, when I arrived to the house I was greeted by some of my soon to be roommates and it was amazing how they all seemed to make sure I was good, alder if I needed food or go to the store? They pretty much made me feel very welcomed. Then I started doing the groups and learned a lot about myself! My one on ones with my therapist really made a big difference and I was able to get through a lot of trauma that was the underlying of root causes to some of my addictions. Since I graduated the program and starting to reintroduce myself to regular life. I have no cravings. If I think about using they come and are gone as fast as they came. I have to say that it was the development of the tools and all the classes and group settings. They really help me get through this and prepare me mentally to think of life in a different aspect and realize that I'm how much better person in sobriety than I ever was in my addiction and I'm grateful for everybody at Shoreline counselors therapist staff they all have made a big impact on the person that I am today and moving forward. She was very encouraging, telling me that I was strong, but needed to work on a couple of areas, including paying more close attention to the surface I was walking on. That may seem obvious, but just hearing that raised my awareness and made a big difference. I have not had that problem again, but now I notice other people losing their footing at the edge of a curb or sidewalk because they just aren't aware of the changes in terrain. This year I went back to Elyse because of some extreme hamstring pain and I was surprised to find out it was actually sciatic nerve pain. (Me: "No really, my back is fine, it's just my hamstring!"). She recommended changing my desk chair to a kneeling chair, and since I don't always do my homework exercises, she introduced me to The Bar Method in Solana Beach, which leads me through most of the exercises I need to do (with some modifications) in a pleasant class that seems to fly by. Elyse works exclusively one-on-one and provides me with her undivided attention. I am a very curious person, and I love that she is so enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge in a way that resonates with me. For example, on her iPad, she showed me a rotating 3-D model of the sciatic nerve pathway, which visually crystallized that she had the diagnosis spot-on. Elyse is a very warm person, a patient listener, and an excellent communicator. I've recommended her to several friends and highly recommend her to anyone who wants to get straight to the source of their problem and fix it as quickly and effectively as possible.

Before I started PT with Elyse, my shoulders were constantly tight and painful. After a few weeks of seeing her for treatment, I barely notice any shoulder pain. My lower back has improved after doing the short exercises Elyse recommended. I'm also amazed that she's been able to loosen the old scar tissue I have from radiation treatment, which I thought I'd be stuck with for the rest of my life. I love Elyse's business slogan "Moving you from pain to possibility" because that's exactly what she does.
