I experienced one of the worst nights of my life during my stay at Aton. I was there in early Jan 2020 just a few weeks before Covid began ripping through the country. About 5-6 days into my stay, I decided to go home! I knew I was going to be okay and so the next day, I notified the head administrator I'd be leaving the following day. The same day I was asked to sign discharge papers, and later that evening, during routines, they gave me a 'new' medication that I swallowed without thinking. I went back to my room and my arms and legs started tingling. I went to find a night nurse, snd finally found her in the garage. She was weirdly unresponsive and treated me like I was no longer their patient or responsibility. By then my limbs had turned to rubber. I should have opted to go to the ER rather than ride it out. With Covid starting to hit CA, it was a good thing I didn't go to the hospital. I'd clearly been given someone else's meds that night but they never gave me a straight answer. I was awake all that night and had to cancel my 7am flight. When I finally made it to the airport later the next day, I had to be wheeled out to the gate. When I left Aton they literally sent me home with a plastic shopping bag full of meds they'd prescribed that I'd literally never seen before! I had no idea what all the meds were even for. I still have them! When I originally signed my discharge docs I gave Aton an excellent review. I've regretted giving that positive review for years. I followed up with Aton a month or so after I got home but the administrator or legal expert who called was totally unapologetic and denied ANY & ALL culpability relating to my experience. I would not recommend Aton. read more

I have been to AToN Center 3-4 times in my past & I am eternally grateful to this place. The first time I went to AToN it was in its early stages & there was only 1 house & 6 people at a time. I came back & was there as it continued to grow & expand and become bigger. The staff here were ALWAYS so caring, and genuinely meant so much to me, in a time when I needed it more than ever. Although I may not have stayed sober right away, this place saved my life & gave me the tools I needed to use for when it was finally time for me to make changes in my life. I am now coming up on 8 years sober in March of this year. I often think of people like Jim & Patricia (I hope they remember me), SUSAN, my dogs/Powers that I loved, & all of the amazing PAs/CAs that I really grew to care about & that saw all the good things in me that I wasn't able to see in myself. This place changed my life & I only want them to truly know I consider them family & hope to see them one day again soon, for much better reasons of course! Even use to enjoy the amazing Aftercare services they offered on the weekends. Highly recommend this place to anyone who is fortunate enough to go and receive this incredible attention/care along your journey. You guys are FOREVER in my heart. Please know that. I was just thinking of you all today & decided to look you up. Soprano_1989 on Instagram to contact me if you like. - Nick P read more

You could literally buy 3 cars for the cost of this place! $60,000 is TWICE what some people make in a year! My insurance wouldn't cover it unfortunately. That kind of $$, I'd take an AWESOME VACATION (with money left over) It's a shame. People NEED REAL HELP! Shame on AToN. read more

This place was life changing. I found ATON after a recent life upheaval left me drinking like crazy and unable to dig myself out of a deep depression. I went in a total empty shell of a person , and left there FOREVER changed! ATON's focus on dealing with WHY you struggle with addiction rather than just putting a bandaid over it .. is the only reason I am thriving today. I had been to a rehab 3 years prior and saw what makes ATON so different than ANY OTHER program. First off, you are in such BEAUTIFUL surroundings, staff is there 24 hrs a day to make sure you have what you need and lastly .. constant therapy and holistics to make sure your mind, body, and soul are all being treated. The staff would have the jacuzzi and coffee ready for me by 5am. I would listen to my music or podcasts while watching the sunrise In this gorgeous backyard. Then do a cold plunge in the pool. It was so peaceful and put me into a routine I would carry on when I got home. The food is top notch and they accommodate ANY recommendations you ask for. The therapists genuinely care and listen. They are all working together to make sure you are on a path to recovery once you leave...and prep you for what comes after. Breana was AMAZING in dealing with your aftercare She lined me up with therapists for me AND my daughter. Did all the legwork with insurance etc. I was able to just focus on ME. Kiyana and the rest of my team helped me deal with the root of my struggles .. that went BEYOND just drinking. I left there completely changed! It's been over 3 months and I still sit down and go through my big binder of notes from our daily therapy sessions. I Kept up my daily routine of self care and taking time Out. My kids and family can't believe what a changed person I am. I just couldn't be more grateful to this place. I would HIGHLY recommend this program to ANYONE... as long as you go in ready to change and do the work ... you'll never be the same. I owe my life to ATON read more

We were very disappointed with the Aton center. They do not treat their patients with compassion, the most important thing for them is that your credit card has a high credit line that they can maximize. We had a close family member check in, and the humiliating and belittling treatment by the staff here was totally unacceptable. There are other centers that are much more humble and respectful of their patients and don't treat them as if they are inmates. If you need to come here you are at a difficult and vulnerable stage of your life, and the last thing you need is a snooty receptionist who has never walked in your shoes lecturing you. Their facilities are nice, but you will pay dearly. Keep searching and you will find more humane, compassionate (and cheaper) centers. read more

This is a hard review to write- I mean it is one thing to recommend a restaurant that was good, but how do you fully put into words a place that took you in and saved your life? I tried all of the 12-step options to try to stop drinking, I tried everything I could on my own, but it didn't work. Aton worked. I am now sober, and I am using the tools that I learned and practiced at Aton to stay that way. The difference at Aton is that it is not about just giving something up. It is about recognizing why you picked it up in the first place and then (I think most importantly) how to fill those needs in a healthy way, a way that makes you happy and peaceful instead of shameful and guilty. They don't isolate you, taking away contact with the outside world. You can call, text, email, and if that triggers you in some way they help you deal with it. If you want to do the 12-step thing then there is support for that, if you don't then you can focus on the CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) tools. For me the "tools" were the key. I found that other methods just focused on NOT doing something, instead of focusing on how and why. Aton covers all of it. And they offer holistic services too, things like a massage therapist who's services at first I thought just a nice perk, but came to realize that he was a profound part of my recovery. The environment is beautiful; it is a home. There is really nothing clinical about the experience, Jim and Patricia have created an inviting, super-comfortable, luxurious place to do this hard work in. Because it is hard, but it is so worth it. The cook is amazing, the back yard is still one of my favorite places, and the pups were a different kind of therapy that I needed as well. And the people are incredible. I always felt respected and taken care of, protected and safe to do the work that needed to be done. The doctors and counselors were amazing: a year later and I know that I can call anytime and hash out a problem or just ask for support. They pushed me, they helped me deal with things that I had no desire to talk about. The helped me to let go of my shame. And that helped me let go of my addiction. read more

I recently finished my 30 days at AtoN and I couldn't be more proud to be a graduate of this amazing program! I truly feel that the folks at AtoN saved my life. I did my research in looking for a program that was not specifically AA based. There are really only a handful across the US. AToN stood out as they not only offered an AA approach to sobriety, but the SMART approach as well. I had never ventured into trying to get sober prior to going to AToN, but knew that I needed help fast! From the moment the gates opened into AToN I knew I was in the right place. I was met and welcomed with open arms. Instantly I felt at home. I knew without a doubt I would be taken care of and that I made the right choice for my recovery. While at AToN I learned so much about myself, the reasons I drank and how to fill my life with healthy alternatives for peace and happiness. My days were filled with group sessions, one on one sessions, yoga, acupuncture, massage, hypnotherapy and meditation. The staff was always there for me in every way. I learned so much about myself and my addiction. AToN gave me every possible tool and sound advise to ensure I remained sober once I left. The RA's who work at AToN are top notch! Loving, caring individuals who work so hard to navigate the vast personalities of the addicts who live the 30 days at AToN. They manage it with grace and love. The cook; I wish I could take home with me. The food was outstanding! All organic, well rounded meals. The owners are hands on and truly care about your recovery. They make you feel like you are family. I can't say enough good about the clinicians. Most all of them are recovering addicts themselves and wholeheartedly relate to what you are going through. The love and compassion I was given at AToN is something I will carry with me throughout my life. I will never forget these people! Sincerely, A proud AToN graduate. read more

I attended an event for continued education here and it was amazing. Dr Cannon was thoughtful in her presentation it was interesting and helpful. This was a CEU event, although I am a sober Living owner and did not need the certification, found the education useful. We were very well taken care of at this event, lunch was delicious and the networking was a highlight of this day. read more

I viewed all of the top 5 to 7 rehabs within Southern California to make that decision for my family member. I chose Aton they spoke a great game unfortunately they didn't deliver. At this point I wish they had a zero star rating don't have your friend or family go there without asking all of the right questions. I thought I did. Basically when the insurance runs out they will put you on the streets seriously and all of their promises if you don't complete 28 days they don't hold onto their promises when the insurance stopped after 14 days that was it bye-bye with the smiles and all the friendliness was out the window. Not even offered a compensation or a basic program for paying cash no stopped before the family meeting before the complete evaluation just stopped they billed $55,000 in 14 days to the insurance company. Other rehabs were & $54000 for the whole month. At such an emotional time in people's lives being lied to and taken advantage of adds to the suffering f read more

I recently visited this facility and found it to be top rate! Everything about this place is fantastic. Knowledgeable and friendly staff that honestly care about the patients success in recovery. They offer so many amazing services that I couldn't list them all. I would encourage anyone seeking a new way of life and recovery from substance abuse to check this place out before you go anywhere else. Especially if you are looking for alternatives to regular 12 step type programs. Aton offers so many other avenues. In meeting with the staff and owners I can tell you that the quality of care for their patients is number one. Having been in numerous rehabs before, nothing even compares to this place. You have to see it for yourself. read more

ATon was a life changing experience. This was the 3rd rehab I've been to & I've been able to stay sober for over a year now. Everything about my life has improved & I can honestly say I wouldn't change a thing right now. Drugs & alcohol, low self esteem & depression consumed my life & now after the amazing doctors & staff at ATon I have a whole new outlook on life, priorities, & what truly matters I'm the long run. I learned why I turned to drugs & alcohol for the problems in my life & what I can do now to keep them out of my life. I will be forever grateful for ATon. read more

I have a couple of good friends that have come through this treatment program and are approaching almost a year of being clean. From sharing their experience, it provided them with enough tools to be able to engage in daily life affairs and were able to really connect with the counsellors to dive into deep rooted problems. They are now out hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and have been sober through that experience as well. I am incredibly grateful to Aton Center and the staff there for giving these guys an amazing foundation for rebuilding their lives. read more

Truly how do you start to write a review about a place and about people that saved your life. I came to AToN in August 2011. From the moment I was picked up at the airport to when i walked through the doors at AToN, everything far exceeded my expectations. Yes, the house is beautiful and the food is amazing and even a resort like atmosphere. But, the care I received was unlike anything I have ever experienced. You are treated by a highly qualified staff. The owners, Jim and Patricia are truly wonderful caring people. Dr. Dumas, the clinical director is the most highly skilled Psychologist I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Dr. Dumas and the rest of the clinical staff saved my life. They gave me real options to the problems I had in my life. I can honestly say every person who works there really cares and has a passion for helping those with the disease of addiction. I thank my life everyday to AToN. read more

I own a local outpatient program near the Aton Center. Being in the field of addiction treatment (tx) for over 15 years, I have seen a lot of programs come and go. I have also worked in several residential facilities in the past. Aton is one of the better programs I have worked with clients from over the years. My program gets referrals from inpatient/residential programs across the country. All of the big names in the industry have been well represented in our groups so I get to see what kind of progress is made at the conclusion of their inpatient tx. I have seen patients stay for 90 days in some programs and not be ready for a step down to OP and I have consistently seen patients ready in much less time coming out of Aton. They are doing a great job and offer a great level of expertise. If you are shopping, at least have a conversation with them. They are small (two beautiful homes with 6 beds each) and highly individualized. They are also very evidence based-that is not just lip service on their website. Everyone is evidence based in their advertising. The Aton folks actually know how to implement the treatments, not just talk about them. My clients that have gone through there consistently present with a skill set that I can help them put into practice as they adjust back to their lives at the outpatient level. It is not unusual for people to come in after inpatient from other programs feeling ready, but being completely unskilled. Then our job at OP becomes one of doing recovery 101 with them when they should be taking the skills they learned and practicing them in their real lives. My Aton clients are consistently ready to practice. read more

Aton Center is an all around amazing treatment center. I have had the opportunity to meet and work with many of the clients completing Aton's inpatient program and have since begun to refer my own friends to this program when they need help. I knew that there was something special about this facility after having met a dozen or so graduates from Aton who had each had incredibly powerful experiences there. Since then I have met many more of their graduates and haven't ever heard a complaint or negative comment about their facility. In the treatment world this is generally unheard of, but Aton has a unique way of making their clients feel genuinely cared for. The staff at Aton delivers on their promises and provides a beautiful and therapeutic healing environment. Their doctors, therapists, counselors and techs are compassionate and inspire their clients to break through many of the barriers that have prevented their recovery in past attempts to stay sober. Aton provides an excellent example of what real substance abuse treatment can look like when the staff is properly qualified and personally invested in each individual's successful recovery. read more

I first received treatment from Aton (Aid to Navigation) Center in 2011. I had contemplated going into rehab for many years to address my growing issues with drugs and alcohol. I must have googled potential rehab facilities dozens of different way using all the key words important to me: luxury, non-twelve step, private rooms, intimate, licensed psychologist, depression, dual diagnosis, chef, executive etc. I had a laundry list of must-haves. Probably way too many! However, I found ATON. It had everything I was looking for and more. I felt so lucky to find out my insurance was accepted at such an exclusive place. Too good to be true, but it was! I learned so much about myself during this visit. The individual clinical staff was almost all Ph.D. level educated. The chemical dependency counselors were all certified and added equally to the high quality of care. I received EMDR therapy for trauma, bio-feedback for anxiety, hypno-therapy and the best one on one psycho-therapy I could have ever imagined. Holistic treatments such as massage, acupuncture, and personal fitness training rounded out the treatment and provided much-needed relaxation. This 2011 visit was the beginning of my coming out of the despair of addiction. More importantly, it taught me how love and help myself. I returned in Nov. 2014 after a few setbacks. Initially, I was embarrassed and felt like returning equaled failure. However, in very little time, I realized how much better off I was than my first visit. Everything that I learned before set the groundwork for the incredible progress and growth I achieved this visit. Not only was I FAR better off since 2011, so was ATON! They had added another mansion (still only 6 patients per house), more treatments, finer food and so on. The owners of ATON spare no expense. I was elated to have most of the same doctors and staff that had treated me 3 years prior. Keeping that caliber of staff that long speaks volumes to me. ATON improved in areas I thought were already top notch! It runs seamlessly and with more precision than the Mercedes Sprinter Van in which it transports clients . I recommend ATON Center without reservation. read more

AToN exceeded all my expectations in almost every way possible. I was not entirely sure what a 30 day inpatient rehab was going to be like, but I was quickly put at ease with a friendly, welcoming staff. It is located in 2 beautiful homes that creates a very intimate setting where no more than 6-7 people are in a group session. Aside from the group sessions, there are individual therapy sessions almost daily which allows the doctors to focus in specifically on the patients unique substance abuse and mental health needs. To go along with the therapy sessions, there are many holistic therapy sessions (yoga, acupuncture, meditation, hypnotherapy) that an individual can take throughout the week to go along with an amazing chef who makes some of the best meals I've ever had in my entire life! The most impressive aspect of AToN has been their discharge plan where they formulate a course of action one should take once they leave. It is also impressive that a counselor will call you once a week for an entire year after discharge to make sure you are on the path of recovery. They also offer an aftercare meeting every Saturday morning for all alumni. I am currently 8 months sober as of writing this review and without a doubt attribute this to everyone at AToN! read more
