This time I came to test out the full expanse of the water with my paddle board. I came with my brother who had his kayak and fished. He caught a rainbow trout (and released). We stayed on the water for almost 4 hours - the water was nice and clean and it was busy but not crazy. The beach area was definitely a popular busy zone but most the people were in the designated swimming area versus the open lake. Just a great time and will be back! If looking to grab a spot on the dry land I would recommend arriving before 11am- that's when it started filling up more.

What a nice green park with convenient access to nature less than a half hour from downtown…read moreMilwaukee! Fox Brook has a swimming pond area, a pavilion for the beer garden and a rentable pavilion at Picnic Area 1. I rented out the pavilion for 30+ guests and it has plenty of space, can hold Up to 200. It also has a volleyball net and a cut little loop on the prairie. Lots of migrating birds in the spring! The reservation comes with a fee of course which you can reserve online. There is a $7 fee to enter the park as well and can also be done online. There's a paved trail that loops the swimmable Pond shared with bikers. It's a peaceful place to walk your dog, or by yourself or with friends/family/significant other. There is also a few offshoot unpaved trails that cuts into the trees for a short while to walk along the trees. Pretty decent if you're looking to take a quick walk and enjoy nature or have a meetup and enjoy some beer at the beer garden.

It has a rubbery surface and there are plenty of shades. Our two girls especially enjoyed the double-sided monkey bars, swirling slides, and rope apparatus. I was looking to take my kiddo out before we headed into Sam's Club, and this park was nearby and seemed like a good stop. It was indeed! The playground is an all for one design, with no separate little kids side or big kids side, which is just fine. Variety is the key with this setup. For slides, there is one big enclosed twirl slide (my two year old loved this one), one three person slide, and a two person slide. For climbing into the playground, you can walk up the back of a crocodile, tackle the climbing wall, or take the variety of ladders, including one that goes into the middle of the roost. As well, there are two swings. One for toddlers, one for big kids. It's nothing crazy, it's not brand new, but it is well designed and maintained. Trees line the playground and basketball court, so there is plenty of shade. Parking is just on the street, no parking lot here. As well, the bathrooms are on the opposite end of the park from the playground, instead of centrally located. Other than that, the park is great for your traditional neighborhood park. We'll be back for sure.

Lime Kiln Park - A Hidden Gem in Menomonee Falls…read more We took a hike through Lime Kiln Park today and absolutely loved it! Tucked away in Menomonee Falls, this park feels like a peaceful little escape with just the right mix of nature, history, and fresh air. We explored both the upper and lower falls, and the views did not disappoint--especially with the sound of the rushing water and all the lush greenery around us. The trails are paved and easy to follow, which made our walk feel more like a relaxing stroll than a workout. There's something really cool about walking past the historic lime kilns--like you've stepped back in time for a moment. Between the rock formations, bridges, and little scenic spots to pause and take it all in, we found ourselves stopping often just to appreciate the beauty around us. It's the kind of place where you can go for a walk, clear your head, or bring the family for a peaceful afternoon. We even saw a few people playing disc golf and lots of birds hanging out near the water. If you haven't been yet, Lime Kiln Park is totally worth the visit. Bring your walking shoes, your camera, and a little curiosity--you'll leave refreshed and maybe even a bit inspired.

It's popularly utilized as a bicycle trail but there are walkers and joggers as well. We hopped on the trail here in Waukesha for an afternoon walk on Labor Day. There were plenty of cyclists out but they were all very polite about passing us (a quick "on your left" and a socially distant pass). The trail itself is paved and appears to be beautifully maintained. The views in some areas of the trail are lovely (and other areas a little industrial). If you're looking to get out of the house and maybe enjoy a little nature to boot, this is a great option. Get to it!

Officially you have to have a state park sticker or come prepared with you 5 dollars to drop in little boxes along the trail for a day pass. I've taken the trail from waukesha (trailhead on college ave) almost to the end of the paved portion of the trail in dousman. You can go further to lake mills but its crushed limestone on that part. I can't put my finger on what I liked so much about this trail...the scenery was really pastoral and bucolic and the inclines weren't too bad. Just a really nice place to ride. The whole trip from waukesha to dousman is about 28 miles round trip. Mama Ds coffee etc spot is about 5 or 6 miles past the waukesha trailhead. See you on the trail!

This review is specific to the pool area…read more Honestly, this pool is probably the best public pool in the area. It was recently renovated, and it is clean and modern and expansive. There are multiple swimming areas available for use. There is a lap lane, a diving well, a lazy river, an aqua jogging area, two water slides, a few areas for general swimming activities, a handful of water bikes, and a kiddie pool. There are also lots of lifeguards sitting in raised chairs, as well as actively patrolling the edge of the pool deck. Though there is plenty of seating around the pool deck, the lounge chairs aren't particularly comfortable or stable. The chairs have those rubber slats across the length of the chair that make it uncomfortable to sit on without a towel underneath you. However, you are allowed to bring in your own chairs if you'd prefer that. The kiddie pool is a really great space for parents to watch their children. It is completely fenced in with a zero-depth end and a small slide with a fountain. The gate clicks closed behind you when you enter, so kids can't just push right through and go to the main pool. There are umbrellas and lounge chairs around the kiddie pool as well. I also counted five family restrooms, which is a good amount considering the large capacity of the pool. The locker rooms themselves are very spacious and clean. The individual showers have curtains, which provides lots of privacy. There is also a swimsuit dryer inside the locker room. There is a snack shack around the side of the building and there are water fountains (one with a water bottle filler) inside near the locker rooms. Something unique about Buchner Pool is the activities they offer members in the mornings. From 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., the current channel (where the lazy river is) can be used for water walking. Additionally, lap swimming is available between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. One thing to be aware of is the lack of parking. There is no parking lot attached to the park, so you have to park on the street. There are four handicap parking spaces near the building. On particularly hot days, there will be a line to get into the pool. Sometimes the employees divide the line into a queue for people with a membership and a queue for people paying in cash for a daily pass, but don't count on it.
