My husband and I went to dinner for our date night on Friday and had a pretty amazing meal! The parking is what it is for any downtown location. Inconvenient and expensive. It would've been nice if they offered valet parking. However the aesthetic of the restaurant is beautiful the staff is extremely professional and nice. Our waitress was named Jennifer and she was so sweet and helpful. I had a glass of moscato to start . They do sale wine by the bottle or the glass and they have some pretty interesting signature cocktails. My husband had an espresso martini, which was delicious. For our appetizer we got a mozzarella, tomato, sweet onion, oil, and basil, dish on a small cast-iron skillet with a crispy baguette. Amazing 10/10 I would highly recommend this! I got spaghetti and meatballs for my main dish. I imagine I couldn't get this dish made better any where else in the world but Italy. It was so delicious, I will be coming back simply for this dish. 20/10! I highly recommend. Fresh pasta sauce seasoned very well and high-quality meatballs just full of flavor, and a excellent portion size for thr price. My husband got a chicken dish that was very good as well. We split the oil cake and chocolate sherbet for desert and it was so good read more

This is one of my restaurants in Indy. Their cocktails are absolutely amazing. The food has always been delicious. I hate that I always forget to take photos of the food while I am there. In the summer they have the doors open and have a half inside half outside sitting area. It's stunning. The whole ambiance of the restaurant is really nice. They have reasonable parking and you can valet your car. I go back often so I will try to add more photos as I go. This is easily my most recommended restaurant in Indy. read more

During our staycation at the Alexander we knew we wanted to try Nesso! I originally made an earlier 6:30 reservation, but I changed our plans and was easily able to switch to later times using the open door app. Huge plus! We arrived a bit earl, but we we were able to get seated right away. We started with a bottle of Sangiovese and a large order of bread. I really enjoyed my main, Tagliatelle. I agree with many of the other reviews that the portion size is rather small. The service was great and we'd definitely recommend! read more

A perfect spot for modern, upscale Italian dining in downtown Indy! Came here for a birthday dinner and they were very accommodating for our large group. The vibes are super cute on the inside, perfect for taking pictures. Started off with a gin cocktail that they custom made for us (the cocktail menu is limited). You can never go wrong with burrata, so we ordered that to start and it was amazing! My entree was the pesto pasta, and I loved how the pesto was thick and covered the pasta so well. I wanted to add protein so I got the chicken, but they only had the breaded kind, which was a little too crispy and dry for my taste and I could've gone without. We ended the night with a delicious tiramisu! read more

All around good experience and food. Better service than previous CRG experiences. Food was good, nothing to long for but good.

Yes, yes and YES! O my what a splendid surprise. We arrived late to Indy on our way home from spring break and wanted to grab a bite to eat at Nesso! I typically research restaurants before hand but I figured it would be just a quick meal before bed. Dinner turned into two hours accompanied by wine, appetizers, salad, pasta and desert. O no. We splurged on a greater amount of calories that we could afford In all honesty, we were pretty much blown away with the food! We're from downtown Chicago so we're pretty critical with food and hard to please at times. Indianapolis has a very unexpected and under rated culinary scene. It's booming with funky foodie spots and this is one of them. We dined here two nights in a row (Wednesday and Thursday)as requested by our toddler. She adored the pistachio gelato. Thursday had one benefit, half off bottles of wine. Okay now to the food. Each night we started with with a salad which I was unable to photograph as at that point we were so so hungry and scarfed it down pretty quickly. The first night we enjoyed the Bibb salad and night two we got the Cesar. I preferred the chili vinaigrette on the Bibb. It was the perfect amount of kick without being too spicy. Next up the must have focaccia with balsamic and oil for dipping. Holy heavens. We intended to bring some back to the room but finished the entire loaf. Don't you dare leave without getting the focaccia. For entrees we got the agnolotti and tortelacci which were both vegetarian friendly! It's we're delightful, hand made pastas with the perfect amount of flavors d sauce. I despise when Italian food is just loaded with cheese or cream instead of more developed favored like truffles, brown butter, broth or hazelnut. You can't go wrong with either dish. So yummy. Then we ended with the pistachio and almond gelato which was the reason for our return on night two. Our daughter said it was the best she's ever had. On top of the food the staff went above and beyond. read more

Incredible experience! I stayed at the nearby hotel for work and heard the best things about Nesso. I started with a glass of the Vino Lauria 'Giardinello' and focaccia bread - amazing. The bread was the perfect sorry/crisp and warm and was served with a fresh olive oil and balsamic dip. I was recommended the ravioli for dinner - which is the chef's twist in the form of one large ravioli! It was awesome and had a great flavor profile between the ingredients. Ended the night with a slice of tiramisu. Very classy restaurant with dim lighting and a romantic vibe. Will definitely be coming again!! read more

Dropped by for devour since it's been a minute that I've lived in Indy and haven't properly had a meal at Nesso! Street parking is a bit more difficult to secure vs. Mass Ave or even FSQ -- you'll be fine if you have access to the Irsay or Lilly lots though. Had a nice red wine and 3 course meal, everything was delicious. Ambience was nice and servers were friendly/attentive. Didn't give full five stars because I think say this is the *best* Italian I've had, but this is definitely a solid spot. read more

There's only so much time left for me indy so I'm frantically trying to get to every restaurant that I've been meaning to try. We finally made it to Nesso. Great ambiance, very attentive staff, and lovely tasting food. My friends and I had such a great time and I hope I'll get to make it back! Carpaccio - very delicious. Very shareable. Honestly should've ordered two! Pappardelle - as tasty as it was pretty. The short rib melted in your mouth and the thick pasta was just so good Agnolotti - first time ever having this. If you love mushrooms this dish is to die for. So much flavor packed into each bite and the mushrooms were cooked wonderfully read more

The four stars is for the service. Our server was awesome, attentive, friendly, and the overall restaurant atmosphere was very pleasant. Not loud since there aren't that many tables, and nothing is rushed. My friend and I decided to check this place out for Devour Indy. I had the Octopus, Scallop, and Panna Cotta, and my friend had the Caesar Salad, Linguini Nero, and Tiramisu. The food was definitely different than what we expected, but we loved it. The caesar salad had an actual anchovy lol the scallops were good, but the black rice risotto beneath it was too salty for my taste (drank so much water afterwards). Overall, I wish I could've loved it more than I did, but maybe I'll come again to try the other menu items. It's a perfect date night or a gno spot! read more

SWANKY. Dress-up, fancy place. And a very lovely supper it was. Server: Nick! Friendly, took the time to make sure we were heard. Efficient, present whenever we needed him. Had a delightful laugh! Food: definite 5-star material. Lovely flavors melding and creating synergistic yumminess. Great texture, and fish (for me) that wasn't cooked to death and totally desiccated. Limited menu -- guessing it changes often. Drinks: wine list wow. By-the-glass too pricey -- share a bottle with friends. I also got a dirty martini which wasn't dirty enough... so Nick brought me a demitasse of dirty (brine). Brilliant solution! Decaf cappuccino: perfect. Completely. House-made pistachio gelato: best I've ever tasted. The pistachios were candied... wow. Summary: spendy, but worth it. Great place for a celebration. read more

Typically I'd call myself a Cunningham Stan. I must say I was let down by this one. I waited to post this to marinade on my experience and not jump too quickly to judge. I will start by saying I will be going back to try something different items, and this speaks to the affordability of this restaurant. I started with the beef carpaccio and a bottle of wine(Thursday is half priced wine bottles). Of carpaccios I've tried this was probably bottom 10%. I can't place exactly what was missing but didn't live up to my expectations. I ordered the Orecchiette, something I usually wouldn't try, and my mother ordered the Spinach Pappardelle. Liked the orecchiette more than the pappardelle for sure. Need a bit more flavor with the short rib Ragu. Amaretto gelato was . Disclaimer I do not normally order either of these pasta dishes so I will be going back to try the bread then the gnocchi to try and give this spot a fair shake. Review update forthcoming. read more

I wish I could give them more stars because our experience last night was wonderful. Our server was Maria and we loved her. My fiancé is a quick sell with any suggestion, so she was able to talk him into the wine pairing as well as starting off with a glass of something bubbly. He had a prosecco while I had the brut rose, which were both delicious. We came for devour and had already decided what we would eat. I opted out of the wine pairing but after tasting his, I am certain I missed out. The wines paired with each of his courses were incredible! He had the octopus, short rib ragu, and the pistachio gelato, while I had the beet salad, salmon, and tiramisu. Everything was delicious and beautifully executed. I've had some good and some bad octopus. This one was amazing. I was nervous about the beet salad because goat cheese can be a little too pungent for my taste, but not this one. Our entrees were delicious, but I'd definitely choose the salmon again. All the textures in one perfectly seasoned dish. I will always choose tiramisu. Always. It was definitely one of the best I've ever had. The ambiance is beautiful and modern with clean lines, and dark without feeling cold. From start to finish, we loved everything about our dinner here. Nesso is a master of their trade. Cunningham knocked it out of the park again. read more

We got a little lost parking for Nesso because we don't come downtown often because of complicated parking. Happy accident though, we had to go through the Alexander Hotel which Nesso is attached to. Bellissima opera d'arte! (Beautiful artwork) throughout the entire hotel, and the wonderful and fresh scent that had to be coming out of the ventilation? A+ for the Alexander Hotel from just what I saw. Now onto Nesso. We are early diners so our reservation was for 5 PM but if I could give any advice on Nesso, go for a twilight or evening dinner. I'd bet it even more gorgeous at that time. We were lucky enough to be sat at a roomy settee table near the windows. Extremely comfortable and I had a view of the gigantic bird artwork (which is probably more gorgeous in the evening since you'd be able to see the lighting better). The whole restaurant feels very Sex in the City for me. Everything is elegant and curated for a beautiful meal. Our waiter was Jay and he was excellent. DH picked off of the regular menu while I picked from the Devour Menu. Jay helped me with the dessert. I chose the Mediterranean salad, Cacio E Pepe, and the Panna Cotta. The salad was delicious. Light and crispy with a symphony of summer flavors. The Cacio E Pepe was a blanket of velvet cheese and fresh cracked pepper over a perfectly done pasta. The Panna Cotta was a light and smooth pillow of soft strawberry, lemon, and rhubarb flavors. DH had the Chicken Milanese and the meatballs. The chicken was perfectly cooked, piping hot, and crispy. The meatballs were equally good and the sauce was spectacular. Overall, it was a really wonderful experience. read more

Really enjoyed our experience at Nesso. The inside of the restaurant is gorgeous and has a upscale cozy feel to it. I personally chose from the Devour Indy menu and enjoyed trying the different dishes. The scallops were cooked to perfection. The panna cotta was also light and refreshing! My husband got the pork chop and he really enjoyed that as well. The service was great and really enjoyed my experience! Parking around the restaurant can be tough. My family just went to Nesso for dinner. This restaurant is part of the Cunningham restaurant group and we've always had good meals at any of their restaurant, but tonight, unfortunately, the food was subpar. My daughter and I both had pasta dishes and the pasta for both dishes was sticky and lacked flavor. My son-in-law had the steak and my wife had the scallops, and both of those were fine. The service was good and the restaurant looked nice. But for an Italian restaurant to have bad pasta is disappointing. The other issue was the wine menu was all in Italian which required you to rely on your server to interpret for you. The first question out of the servers mouth was, " how much do you want to spend?" read more

It's the season for birthday dinners! We recently visited Nesso and were placed in a private type room. I had started following their Instagram and planning my order. Upon arrival, I was torn. Of course, right? Upon entry, it has such a romantic vibe. What better way to spend Valentine's weekend with beautiful friends. The cocktails come out in very small glasses, but don't let that fool you, as they are packed with a punch. I got the octopus as an appetizer but it came out with my meal. First timer here. It looked so pretty and tasted great, but I must admit it leaves a taste the next day a bit less desirable. I had the short rib for dinner and it was phenomenal! The food tasted just as good as it looked. I will definitely be back! read more

I have never tried octopus before and this was exceptional. The white bean puree and pepperonis compliment the meaty grilled octopus. Olives give it a salty addition and the crisp yellow potato medallions are a perfect vehicle to mop up the white bean purée on the plate. I wish there was more on the plate! First let me state that I am not one to eat pasta. I don't enjoy the pasta bloat that comes with the heaviness of most dishes I steer clear of pasta most of the time. The agnolotti, however, was the highlight of the night. Agnolotti is like a ravioli however the shape differs. This version is served with a black truffle oil sets off the silky soft mushroom cream stuffed pasta with sautéd mushrooms sprinkled through the dish. It's been a staple on the menu and I can definitely see why. (I am already thinking about it and how I can eat it again.) Misses for us where the cauliflower appetizer and the short ribs. The Parmesan crusted cheese cauliflower was a bit greasy for our tastes. The crunch of the cheese and pine nuts are a nice balance to the soft cauliflower but it wasn't memorable compared to the octopus and agnolotti. Next the short ribs were overcooked. While they did fall apart, some pieces were tough and unflavored. It was served with something green, I believe but after a bite from my husband I didn't want another. read more

I wanted to love it but it was a little underwhelming. The aperol spritz was amazing; highly recommend. The mushroom bambolino wasn't very balanced. The fried-ness was very overpowering that you could barely taste the delicate mushroom flavor. If you intentionally used the cream on the bottom you could taste more than just fried food. I had the scallops and risotto, and unfortunately for being an Italian place the risotto was not cooked well. It was hard and left a film on your teeth. It needed to be cooked longer. The scallops were cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. We also got the linguini Nero and it had a great flavor but mostly pasta and not much protein. I was shocked when our bill was over $120 for what we got. I don't know that I'd go back, but I'm glad I tried it. I did feel like the service was good although it took an extremely long time for one of the people in my group to get his drink compared to everyone else. read more

What a wonderful dining experience! Midweek on a holiday, we were lucky to have the front semi-private dining section to ourselves! A quiet, comfortable and romantic setting with modern but comfortable decor located in the hip Alexander Hotel in the City Way development of Downtown Indianapolis. Plenty of street and garage parking nearby and easily accessible without the hassles of normal downtown dining! It was the perfect experience we were looking for!! Our server Josh was wonderful and welcomed us warmly, recalling immediately we were there celebrating our anniversary, which I had noted in the reservation--so thank you!!! The menu was varied and filled with amazing modern Italian dishes. We had the Bruschetta, Salmon Piccata and Lasagna followed by Budino--which was a creme-brûlée-like experience! Service was very well timed and the food arrived in a beautiful presentation and plentiful! The flavors were incredible and portion sizes were very good for the price point. This is an excellent restaurant and we were happy we chose this, because Nesso Italian Kitchen offered the perfect experience for our special night out! We can't wait to return! Italian is my favorite food genre so when my family came to visit, I took the chance for us all to try Nesso. Wow!! Nesso Italian Kitchen sets the bar. The moment you walk in you will notice the upscale design and feel the laid-back atmosphere. Shortly after arriving, we were greeted by two friendly hostesses. They found our reservation quickly, and one of them escorted us to our table. Our server introduced himself and shared with us what sets Nesso apart from other dining establishments in the city, including how their meats and vegetables are locally sourced from farms in Indiana. He highlighted some of his favorite dishes and gave a detailed description of each one. The menu features seafood, meats, vegetables, fresh pasta, and other inspirational plates by the Nesso culinary team. There is also a wide variety of starters, desserts and beverages. We decided to order the Meatballs (Pomodoro and Pecorino Romano) and Burrata (Cherry Tomato, Candied Onion, Salsa Verde and Semolina Sourdough) while deciding on our entrées. The plates were wonderfully presented, and the food was delicious and mouthwatering. The Meatballs were cooked perfectly, and the Cherry Tomatoes in the Burrata gave a burst of flavor that put the entire dish over the edge. To date, the Burrata is one of my favorite starters I've tried at an Italian restaurant. Next up, my wife chose the Chicken Saltimbocca (Prosciutto, Sage, Spinach, Butter Sauce, Artichoke and Mozzarella) - she loved it! The chicken was juicy and fresh, and pared perfectly with the ingredients provided. I chose the Pork Loin (Marsala, Mushroom, Onion and Squash) - one word: AMAZING! The meat was tender and packed with rich flavor. I'm not a big fan of mushrooms, but these were sautéed to perfection; they tasted wonderful! The squash added a fresh kick to the dish which I appreciated. The Pork Loin is a must try! Having gone two for two (starters and entrées), we elected to share a dessert and ordered the Chocolate Budino Terrine (Chocolate Fudge Cake, Butterscotch Budino and Chocolate Mousse). Again, SCORE! If you love chocolate, this is the dish to try. Needless to say, our first visit to Nesso was great! From the vibe, staff, to the food, it made for the ideal evening. It's definitely been added to our go-to list in Indy!! read more

Visited during Devour so portion sizes were smaller and menu was set, but $40/person was steep for the small portions. Ratings out of 5: - Octopus 4 (only got four bites) - Caesar salad 2 (whole leaf lettuce = less surface area for dressing and lacked that Caesar flavor) - Gnoccci 5 (wanted more! Portion too small.) - Striped bass 3 (fennel, beets, and Swiss chard together are poor accoutrements to a beautiful bass--tasted like the bass was raised on a pasture) - Tiramisu 5 - Panna cotta 1 (flat sloppy dessert I had to assemble; have you tried to eat panna cotta on a plate? I felt like a 3 year old.) Service was fine. Ambiance is nice but no Italian vibes. We are CRG groupies, but not planning to revisit this place. read more
