I loved Nesso, it is an incredibly beautiful restaurant with amazing food and an even better wait staff. However, I ended up getting food poisoning from their Spaghettoni which lead me to the ER. If I do go back, I won't be getting anything with seafood in it. read more

Bravo Nesso! Seriously, I'm currently clapping in a circle like I did in elementary school. Big round of applause for the chef and our fabulous waiter Jarred. The team here definitely does dinner well! I was in town for work, staying upstairs at the Alexander Hotel, and my team and I had reservations for dinner here the night we all arrived in Indy. I walked through the front doors to discover a romantic and modern space with low lighting and fun, yet classy décor. I loved the beautiful wallpaper all throughout the restaurant. Our group was sat in what was called the "Blue Room," which is simply a little nook with a large dining table. It was tucked away and was a fabulous space for our lively group. Our server came over right away with waters, drink recommendations, and a plethora of knowledge on the menu. We ended up getting to try just about every appetizer they offer. I have a slightly limited diet (gluten free and mainly vegetarian but will swing pescatarian from time to time) so I stuck with the Insalata, Polpo, and Carciofi. The Polpo, which is octopus with olive, eggplant puree, peppadew, and charred onion was my favorite by far. I would order it again in a heartbeat and selfishly wished that I didn't have to share! For my entrée I ordered the Spaghettini with gluten free pasta. Oh goodness, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The dish included basil, lemon oil, and a Pomodoro (red) sauce. The lemon oil gave it the perfect amount of citrus flavor, I honestly feel in love. I've never experienced anything like it before and highly recommend you give it a try. For dessert I nibbled on the Tiramisu, which was also heavenly. There was no way I could finish it as the portion is enormous and I had plenty to eat throughout the evening. It also contained gluten (in the lady fingers) but I couldn't pass up a few bites. I also have to note that the old-fashioned cocktail I ordered was perfect. One big ice cube and a sliver of orange peel, just how I like them. I would absolutely enjoy dinner here again and I highly recommend it. I don't get to Indy often and I'm not one to dine at the same restaurant over and over, but I would totally come back next time I'm in town. read more

The Cunningham Restaurant Group succeeds in everything it does. Each of their restaurant concepts are unique, and each delivers really, really sumptuous food and experiences. It came as no surprise that their newest venture into Italian cuisine was nothing short of perfect. Nesso, an upscale eatery in the Alexander Hotel, is a gorgeous place. With its classy, modern design, it was obvious that nothing had been ignored in the restaurant's physical presentation. I was equally amazed at its positive emotional presentation: from the moment I entered, the staff was incredibly warm and professional. One of the managers introduced herself with a firm handshake, and the host offered to check my topcoat. These marks of distinction are indicative of a five-star establishment. Nesso's fine ambiance and service only complements the true magic the place: its food. This restaurant provides the diner with an authentic Italian experience, which differs tremendously from its Italian-American counterpart. The typical fare found in most restaurants (e.g. fettuccine alfredo) isn't found at Nesso, and that should be celebrated. I was fortunate to have had a large sampling of Nesso's offerings. No Italian meal would properly begin without assorted breads and oil. So, I suggest starting with that. The insalata provides another light taste of things to come. The real gastronomic magic at Nesso begins with the pastas. Coming in portions sized to share as a second course - or perfect for a light meal for one, it is best to not limit oneself to a single selection. The spaghettini, prepared in a rich pomodoro, was wonderful. The diner has the choice to add a focaccia-chicken meatball, which I see as being mandatory. The carbonara, creamy and rich, was also an excellent choice. The best pasta option is the calamarate. Combining Calabrian chile, lamb sausage, labneh, pesto, and oil-cured tomato, this dish was sorely missed once it was gone. Vegetarianism is an unnatural diet; it's an affront to decency, and that is exactly why the Nesso experience must include a healthy dose of meat. One should definitely order the pollo. A chicken roulade, it is very tender and pairs well with the parmesan broth-soaked spinach. The vitello was equally phenomenal. An evening at Nesso would not be complete without a terrific dessert. Both selections I had were wonderful, but the tartufo di cioccolato got second-place. The cannoli sundae won the top prize; it was a delicious end to a top-notch meal. Few restaurants in Indianapolis deserves accolades like Nesso. Bravo! read more

It's not the cheapest place in Indianapolis but it might be one of the finest. The staff is intelligent and confident, engaging and personable. This type of service is rare. Food and beverage quality is simply amazing. The burrata is rich, creamy and zesty. Candied red onions make this a must have. I never pass up a beet salad and super glad I didn't that night. The ravioli is perfect to share so you can save space for the tiramisu. In a skillet, presentation is off the charts. Find better parking. The garage was $8 and they don't validate. Delicious! read more

Loved dinner here! The setting was elegant and beautiful and our server Jarred was incredible! He had such passion for the food and menu! As far as appetizers: the octopus, prosciutto wrapped dates and the beef tartar were some standout favorites! The carbonara was delightful and the pancetta within the carbonara was delightful, flavorful and smoky. I wanted a whole egg in there, but no big deal that it was already mixed in. The Agnolotti with the mushrooms, which I got to taste a bit of was incredible! I highly recommend this dish and part of me wishes I ordered it. The dessert was incredible with the tiramisu being the standout in presentation and flavor. Some of the recommendations, such as adding a side when getting the Agnolotti because the portion size is smaller, I thought were a little upchargy in nature, why not just serve a slightly higher portion? Other than that, everything is perfect here. Highly recommended for an elegant and celebratory meal, date night, night out with friends, business meetings, etc! read more

Service and ambiance were great. Food was good except for some reason the mains were spicy?! I couldn't believe my pasta had such a kick to it. They also have a great wine selection. read more

The food was delicate and flavorful. You will leave feeling full and very satisfied. Slightly frou-frou; with a slight obsession of buffalo milk gorgonzola, and worth every penny. The calamarata (pictured entree) has lamb sausage with pesto and strained yogurt. It sounds exotic, but it's flavorful with slight heat. I don't usually like lamb but I am so glad that I tried this dish! The deserts were out of this world, as they should be because they have their own desert chef! Our server, Brandon, was amazing! It's rare that I have this service this good. Very quick, funny, and easy going. They send two people to clear a table of 4 after each course! The management seems to be very good and watches over the dining rooms and kitchen on rotation. Everyone is moving and the staff appears to enjoy themselves. Great place to have a wonderful night with friends or family. Their wine selection is a plus! Ask for the earthy Cabernet if you like a dark, full bodied red. read more

Nesso is a true treat! The food is always incredible but the shining star of the experience is always the service. In this world of covid Nesso has been a top spot to visit with their incredible covered patio and heat sources. Whether you are looking for a full meal or just some drinks and apps, they've got you covered. Their drink and food menu is fantastic and they occasionally mix it up and add more amazing things to the menus. If you're looking to celebrate a special occasion or just a girls night with cocktails you can't go wrong with Nesso! read more

The culinary team at Nesso knows the way to my heart: load me full of carbs, make me feel fancy, and just when I think it can't get better, throw tiramisu at me. From service to culinary execution, Nesso just gets it right. I had the pleasure of sampling from a plethora of the Antipasti: burschetta, polpo (octopus), prosciutto plate, prugne secche (prosciutto-wrapped prunes), carciofi (artichoke), and insalata. The presentation of the dishes was stunning and the flavor didn't disappoint, either. While none of the dishes were less than amazing, there were definitely a couple standouts. The apple butter aioli on the prosciutto plate really brought it to life (and I'm already a sucker for prosciutto). The bruschetta (white bean, grana padano, wild mushroom, mustard green, tomato pomodoro) was absolutely incredible as well. For my main course, I went with the Mezzaluna (ricotta, pumpkin, amaretti, speck, apple jam, spiced mascarpone). This dish was shear perfection. the hint of pumpkin and the spiced mascarpone made each bite a moment of pure bliss. The dish was perfectly sized and I was completely content (well, until I was offered dessert, at least...). The tiramisu....ohhhhh, the tiramisu. This was one of those "almost-too-pretty-to-eat" dishes until I sank my spoon into it and then inhaled it. After plenty of food, this dish is the perfect size to share and the flavors were fantastic. Sometimes the brandy + coffee flavors of tiramisu can be overpowering... not at Nesso... They got it just right. This review wouldn't be complete without giving a shoutout to our server, Jared who was a total rockstar. Jared spouted of details of the menu seamlessly, it was clear he was well-read on the menu and could help guide you to the best choice for yourself. Our glasses were never empty and the service was quick and efficient. The genuine warm vibes from the staff emulate the kind of service that many restaurants try to achieve, but few reach. If you are fortunate to be given the opportunity to dine at Nesso, don't miss the opportunity! read more

From the folks who brought you Vida, Tavern on the Point, and Union50, Cunningham Restaurant Group has yet again come up with a creative new space for diners to try a unique menu. This round takes us to coastal Italy with rich flavors including both veal and seafood and of course fantastic pasta! After Cerulean closed, CRG took over the space in the Alexander Hotel and completely transformed the look and feel. You enter from the ground floor of the hotel through the unique geometric double doors. Upon entering, the cordial staff greet you at the host stand. We had no problem getting a table for two even on a Pacers game night. They sat us in a gorgeous plush booth with room enough for several people on either side of the table. Brandon promptly greeted us and presented us with a small nip of limoncello on the house to start our dining experience off. He proceeded to take us through Nesso's menu. Having been here once prior, I was pleased to learn that the head chef took the suggestions of patrons to heart and adjusted the menu to include more pasta options as well as slightly larger portions. The menu is structured exactly like a true 5-course Italian menu with small crudo and antipasti at the top, shareable primi courses following, and the secondi (main event) courses at the bottom. Brandon was great at describing his favorites (and knew how to pronounce "bruschetta" haha) and even suggested a wonderful sparkling rosé to pair with the meal (it truly was wonderful and I'm not really into rosé wines.) We started off with the Tonno, a dish with lightly seared tuna, fennel, pickled grapes, and prosciutto. The flavors were fantastically paired and the dish overall was incredibly light. Next we tried the Prugne Sèche -- prosciutto-wrapped prunes -- and oh man, was that a good decision! Savory and sweet makes this dish incredibly approachable to just about any palate! For the primi course, we were treated to a taste of the mezzaluna (pumpkin and riccota raviolis) along with a helping of their incredible gnocchi (another great mixture of savory and sweet flavors with sage, pears, hazelnuts, and goat cheese fondue topping delicate chicken meatballs.) Both dishes were winners! Our second course consisted of fruits of the sea and land with my spouse choosing the rich and buttery veal dish (Vitello) and me choosing the delicately seared sea bass (Branzino). Yet again, both dishes were exquisite and absolutely delicious! The kitchen treated us to dessert too -- a creamy and delicate tiramisu that had a lovely hint of orange liqueur in the center. If you're in the mood for trying an interesting take on Italian, CRG's Nesso should certainly be on your to-do list. The food is exquisite and fairly true to costal Italian cuisine, and the service is impeccable. read more

Bravo, bravo, bravo Nesso! The atmosphere, service, food and cocktails are all top-notch! Daniel and I stayed at The Alexander Hotel Saturday night and wanted to grab appetizers and drinks early evening. We wondered just next door to a new restaurant, Nesso, and man am I glad we did! Matt and Barry behind the bar took excellent care of us! With my love of Campari- I started with a Negroni cocktail and it was very well balanced and easy to drink. I really liked the one giant ice cube in the glass. The bartenders suggested trying their version of an Old Fashioned so Daniel ordered one of those and it was so unique and tasty. They use Espresso in the Old Fashioned but it isn't an overwhelming coffee flavor at all- just a touch. The appetizer list was fantastic and it was difficult to narrow it down to just two. Once again-we asked Matt and Barry for their suggestions and we went with the Bruschetta and Beef Carpaccio. I have never tasted such delicious Carpaccio and the Bruschetta had a twist too- three different kinds on one plate. My fav of the three was the white bean. The ambience was great and we enjoyed the music in the background, the décor and low lighting. We will be back to do full dinner for sure. I can't wait to try more! read more

We experienced our visit to Nesso to celebrate my wife's birthday and discovered this is a "special occasion" destination indeed. As you first walk in through the double doors you immediately sense the romantic and sexy atmosphere. Our server was knowledgeable and didn't try to educate us on all the "Italian" on the menu. He graciously offered a "Hoosier" interruption of the offerings. The city has been blessed for years with family Italian cuisine by Iozzos, Iarias, and Mama Carrollas. Nesso is not this type of Italian. It is something incredibly different and will fit well into the sophisticated fare of the city. The cocktails, an Espresso Old Fashion and Abe's Sour were great starts. We enjoyed the goat cheese stuffed prunes wrapped in prosciutto. They must be tried. The Gnocchi with meatballs and veal entrees were such an adventure in different flavors coming together beautifully. Unlike, our other Italian eaterys; you will not need to loosen your belt. The dishes quantity and price point are very similar to Tinker Street and Bluebeard. The service remained attentive throughout our entire stay. Im sure it didn't hurt our experience that Mike Cunningham and his party were dining just a few tables away. Try Nesso soon if you haven't already had the pleasure. read more

I tried the Devour menu with wine pairings. It started out great. I very much enjoyed the citrus beet salad. The addition of goat cheese just complemented the slightly sweet beets. The wine was from Sicily. A very light green with a somewhat tart finish. It was wonderful. Similar to a Vino Verde. The next course was Pork Osso Bucco on a bed of polenta. Both were just very bland. I was hoping for a big bold red wine to add some dimension. The red was from the Piedmont area of Italy. It was way too mild. It was similar to a rosé. The whole course was boring. I had the gelato for dessert. Another disappointment. Gelato is supposed to have an intense flavor and be somewhat creamy. I could see the ice crystals, so not creamy. Very mild espresso flavor. The wine paring was again from Italy. It was perfection in a glass. I went to Porto Portugal to try their wonderful port. This was better than anything I've tasted. Overall it was disappointing. The service was good. The restaurant is very pleasant. read more

Well done Cunningham Group. Again. Seeing as CRG has pretty much my favorite go-to places across the city, I was pretty excited to try Nesso. You're meshing my favorite restaurants with my favorite cuisine, so really, it's going to be a win-win no matter what.    My husband and I requested a bar table because, well, we have 3 3-yr-olds (yes, 3) and on our rare nights out alone you can probably understand why we like that atmosphere a little better.   Matthew was our server and he was phenomenal. Very attentive and personable--even asked OUR names--a first from a restaurant server EVER. A nice touch I think.    We had the spritz and it was absolutely refreshing. Love the candied orange garnish.    For a starter, we had the carpaccio--which we loved. It was extremely flavorful. Would definitely order this again. Honestly, maybe they should make a side of just the crispy polenta! I'd totally order that.    My husband had the veal, which was very good. Great flavor. I had the bigoli. It was a simple pasta which was what I was wanting, I LOVE peppercorn and parmesan, but if I'm being honest, was hoping for more flavor. Matthew must have noticed, because he questioned me about my dish. Let me just say, It wasn't bad. I was never planning to complain about it. He offered me something else, I declined. Told him I just planned to take the rest home.    We then ordered the tiramisu for dessert. This may have been one of the best things I've ever tasted. The ricotta donuts are simply out of this world.    When they brought out my take home pasta, it wasn't my take home pasta--the chef completely remade it and "spiced it up a bit."   To top it off, they comped my pasta AND the dessert--which was totally unnecessary. Many, many thanks to Matthew and Nesso for that. It says to me that they are out to provide an experience to their guests and want nothing less than amazing. Well done. I will be returning very soon.   The remade pasta was delicious, by the way. read more

WOW! This restaurant is spectacular in every way possible! My boyfriend and I had to celebrate valentines a couple days late. We also had our $100 Cunningham VIP gift card and couldn't wait to use it! We have been saving it for this for awhile. Atmosphere is sexy and inviting. JARED WAS BY FAR THE BEST PART!! Our server, Jared was intelligent, calm, collective, and sweet. He knew about every item on the menu and gave great recommendations. What I loved most about the menu is that it's shareable plates. My boyfriend and I ordered the bruschetta and octopus. Both were absolutely mind blowing with flavor. We shared the risotto and I had the Gnocchi. Everything sounded amazing and I can't wait to go back to try more. Oh, and don't forget desert. You have to try the donuts.... they are mouth watering! read more

A friend and I checked out Nesso's Devour menu last night. We intentionally ordered different things so we could try even more options on the menu. Nesso is a beautiful, trendy restaurant! Our server was patient with us as we were catching up and not efficient in ordering! However, I wasn't impressed with the food. The Caesar salad was pretty typical. The pasta dish (Speghettoni) wasn't on their main menu, which should've been my sign. It was a pretty mediocre cream sauce. I will say the budino was delicious! This was the second time I tried Nesso and both times I was hoping for more from the food. read more

Another great restaurant from Cunningham Restaurant Group. We visited their opening weekend and I can't say enough good things about it! The food is amazing. I would probably classify the culinary style as "contemporary upscale Italian." We started with a charcuterie, tried the tuna, and had some of the small pasta plates. The small pasta plates are about 2 oz each, so they won't fill you up but they are mighty tasty! For the main meal, my wife and I shared the steak. And for dessert, we had a sampling of some of the best desserts. All in all, with the food and two drinks, we spent around $125. Quite a bit of high quality food for that price! The ambiance was slightly noisy, but my wife and I had no trouble holding a conversation. Service was very good as well. Our waitress, Beatrice, really knew the menu intricacies and was able to recommend several of her favorites. After every part of the meal, our silverware was promptly replaced. We never had an empty drink. The restaurant itself is inside the same building as the Alexander hotel, and they have done a great job with the decor. A bit upscale and some coastal textures really make the inside appealing. They also have automated curtains for when it is sunny out. PRO TIP - There is a parking garage north of the Alexander - which is connected by a sky bridge. Very convenient! We were there for several hours and it was like $8 for parking. Most people were dressed smart casual to business casual. I had khaki shorts, Sperrys, and a nice shirt and my wife had a black dress. Will definitely be coming back in the near future so we can try the rest of the menu!! read more

Jospeh had hit the nail on the head and we each rated the own we chose the highest! We ordered the burrata and focaccia bread appetizers and they were delicious. The burrata has a lovely pesto sauce and fresh cherry tomatoes and an onion jam. We had the beet and goat cheese salad which was delicious and refreshing. Our entrees were served piping hot, and were all generous portions. What sets this restaurant is the attentive service and the attention to detail! We found it warm and welcoming and will definitely be back when we're next in town! read more

One of my favorite Italian food places, not just in Indy but anywhere! The place gets crowded especially on weekend evenings so I'd recommend making reservations on open table in advance. There is metered street parking and reasonable valet parking outside if needed. Their menu is split into four main portions, cold or hot appetizers, small portion pastas, and main entrees. The best use of this menu is ordering several different plates and trying a little bit of everything. We ordered the scallops, carpaccio and prunes from appetizers. The prunes were out of this world so we ended up ordering it again, a must try. Our favorite pasta was pumpkin tortellini, but we also indulged in the gnocchi, calamarate, and the Risotto, all creamy and flavorful. Lastly, we tried the cannoli trio and tiramisu desserts. The tiramisu came with fresh ricotta fried donuts that melt in your mouth, simply amazing! The service has always been excellent with our server breaking out the ordered items into courses as we'd like, keeping our plates and cutlery fresh and clean, water refilled, and attention to any other requests you like. In summary, Nesso's experience of small bites with extremely rich flavors and delicious cocktails or wine pairings is one I cannot wait to have again. read more

I am not normally a huge fan of Italian cuisine. It is not because I do not like it, but because it is in general fairly easily reproducible in many regards if the right sauce and pastas are purchased. This applies to majority of Italian restaurants in indy, but no nesso. Nesso is a different type of Italian cuisine. It specializes in seafood dishes but certainly has the basics (lasagna, spaghetti, etc) so can take non seafood lovers. The restaurant is Cunningham owned which for those out of town is local popular restaurant group with variety of top notch restaurants. This is their take on Italian. Located on first floor of city way/Alexander hotel. Food is fantastic. Pasta is freshly made, assume its made in house. The dish i ordered was different in a good way. It was a pesto sausage rigatoni pasta with mint in sauce to give such a nuanced flavor for an Italian dish. Honestly had similarities to thai dishes with the mint, very unique. The wine was great as well but pricey for sure. Plan to spend minimum 20 bucks per person but likely in 30 dollar range. Large dining space, with some outdoor seating a fire pit. Highly recommend for all foodies. Probably makes top 3 Italian list in indy in my book. read more

First time to the restaurant. We were seated in the front section and while nice ambience, I would have preferred seating in the main dining room. Energy seemed higher. Service was solid and maybe a tad intrusive with the table touches. Started with the bread and enjoyed thoroughly. Had carpaccio and grilled squid as starters. Flavor was good in squid but didn't enjoy the size of the pieces. Very much enjoyed the carpaccio! Great for sharing! Had two pasta dishes; Calamarate and Bigoli. We enjoyed calamariate more but neither blew us away. For entree we had Branzino and New York Strip. Both were really good dishes. Overall good experience but not great. The food and beverages were excellent. Our server, Joshua was great! Recommend for several occasions. Very extensive wine selection.

I was extremely impressed with this restaurant. My expectations were pretty high, but I think the food may have exceeded my expectations. Possibly the best meal i've had in Indianapolis. We (my wife and I) started with a wine. We went with one of our waiter's suggestions. I can't remember exactly what it was, but fairly priced and really great. Next we had Prosciutto, Calamarate, and the Gnocchi. Those all came out together as we were a little short on time (which our waiter was very accommodating to!) I was blown away by the flavor. Super impressive. I came close to licking the plate. We ended with a chicken "secondi" but I can't remember what it was called either. It was new to the menu and the website isn't up to date. Quite possibly the juiciest and most flavorful chicken i've had. The outside was perfectly crisp. I'm already planning my next trip! Well done, CRG team. read more

Because we came hungry we quickly ordered bread and olive oil. You could taste the freshness. It was delicious! Once we started perusing the rest of the menu my meal choice was immediately clear - the gnocchi. I mean pears, sage, and goat cheese fondue - oh my! Boyfriend decided on the pork shank.
