Great coffee spot with cool vibes and fun interior decor. They have both a classic coffee menu and a large variety of specialty drinks menu. I typically stick with my black Cold Brew and Americanos, but coming here on a rainy Saturday made me want to switch it up. With so many options available, it took me awhile to narrow it down to the Cardamom Latte and Salted Caramel Latte. Big fan of the Cardamom Latte, it's lightly sweetened with a nice spice aroma from the Cardamom. When I come back in the future, I'll have to choose between that or trying something new on their seasonal menu. read more

Wanted to get some work done at this place but there was 1) very little seating 2) incredibly expensive drinks 3) no wifi! I got an ube cappucino because it sounded cool but I couldn't taste the ube at all. The milk didn't foam at all so it was this really unaesthetic blob. As a coffee enthusiast, this presentation made me very sad. It was also shocking to me that a coffee shop doesn't have wifi? I was definitely disappointed by this experience. Nerd Be Cool was one of the cafes that I visited when I lived in the area, and I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for great coffee! They do offer a selection of pastries, and there's a small market area that's worth perusing. I primarily ordered their espresso-based drinks (though their cold brew was also a good choice). I enjoyed their Spanish latte, which was tastefully sweet without being overbearing. It's a bit outrageous that the price of this single serving ice cream sandwich is more expensive than a pint of gourmet ice cream at Van Leeuwen's or Ample Hills. From the reviews I see that 10 months ago the ice cream sandwich was $6. Now (May 2022) the ice cream sandwich costs $11.25 before tax. I got a receipt just to be sure because I was shocked at the price. The price isn't posted anywhere in the store, which I also find a bit problematic. The coffee was pretty acidic and I couldn't finish it. Dairy free milk substitutions cost $0.65 which I think is okay/pretty reasonable. All of the coffee drinks have increased in price in the last year which is to be expected, so I've uploaded pics of the new menus and pricing. Overall I wasn't impressed with this visit but I'm planning to come back and try the superfood lattes, which are coffee-free. But I will not be reordering any of the coffee based drinks again. Giving 3 stars instead of 1 star for the menu creativity, and the inclusiveness of folks with food allergies and sensitivities. read more

Look I'm sure the coffee is great. My friend Patrick, who brews his home coffee with a goose neck kettle and thermometer, said it was the best coffee he had in Park Slope. But I'm here for one reason and one reason only: the spiced fig bar. Oh my god. Perfect balance of flavors and textures. Crumbly buttery gooey and plenty sweet but balanced by spice and salt. I've been a regular here for the chai latte for over a year now. Was always a dependable place for a good cup. But I just had a bad experience this morning at the shop and won't be returning. I ordered a chai latte and ended up getting a regular latte. I came back when I realized it was the wrong order. The barista's response to this was to basically heat up some milk for a second and splash a little chai in it so she could move onto the next customer, and it was the worst chai latte I've ever had. Took two sips and tossed it. Makes me sad to write this place off -- and to write this review. But you know how one thing in the morning can either make or break your mood for the day? I walked in this morning, excited for a matcha latte. The drink was good, not earth shattering but good. The barista was very unfriendly and arrogant. Stopped into Nerd Be Cool on Sunday morning. I loved the Cold Brew I ordered and I was shocked by the delicious vegan Ice Cream Sandwich. Quality: After several months of trying different coffeeshops across the area, I think Nerd Be Cool won me over as my personal favorite with its Cold Brew. It was perfection. Strong, none of the bitterness, and a slightly sweet taste. It will take a few more trips to check on consistency, but my cup on this morning was flawless. I also was curious about the Ice Cream Sandwiches, so ordered the Carrot Cake Ice Cream. It is not traditional ice cream, coming out much less sweet, but it was absolutely delicious. Great flavor and a unique consistency. Not something you would expect to work in the morning, but it did. Quantity: Drink sizes are included on the menu and the Ice Cream Sandwich was surprisingly filling. Value: $5.50 for a Large Cold Brew. $6 for an Ice Cream Sandwich. Ambiance: Nerd Be Cool has several locations, but I visited the one in Park Slope, Brooklyn. It is in a quaint residential area. In front of the shop they had a few tables set up, which was the only onsite seating. The inside of the shop is a chaotic mess. They don't have any indoor seating, and the signs for menus are everywhere. Different non-drink items can be found throughout the space as well, but it is hard to keep it organized. Definitely more of a place to grab your coffee to-go. Crowd: One couple sat outside with their coffees, and I saw a few folks grab coffee to-go. Service: The barista was extremely friendly, and I appreciate the approval for ordering an ice cream sandwich in the morning. Parking: Some street parking in this residential area. read more

Been here a few times since it opened. I usually go to Cafe Regular that is 2 blocks away because I love the La Colombe coffee. But their service is always horrible. But this is my go to place now. The price is steep, third wave coffee priced, but the service is lovely everytime I go. Nice little warm environment with pastries and maybe 2-3 tables. I usually bring my eco friendly coffee tumblr for iced coffee and theyre more than happy to do it for me. thanks!! P.S no bathroom here. read more

Not everyone knows how to make a delicious cappuccino. Not everyone will treat you you nicely. Your looks matter and not all lives matter. You can even hear " Just go!" from their obnoxious employee, If you ever complain about anything. Nerd be cool! This is for the rich of Park Slope even though now, it looks like a Bodega. I'm aware prices are up almost everywhere, but was confused when my Spanish latte ($5.50 on posted sign) rang up as $6.42. I asked the barista if the price pre-tax was $5.50 and she said that's for a regular latte, not a flavored one. There is an additional charge for the flavors and pointed to the tablet. I used to like Nerd B Cool but their prices went up at a rate far exceeding inflation. Now my wife and I call this Nerd B a Ripp Off.

Finally, a good coffee spot in this area! No more treks to 5th Ave for a good latte and decent service. Just tried the rose latte with oat milk, delicious and creamy with a slight hint of rosy sweetness. They add an extra shot (3 total) to lattes for free, and offer 30 cent discount if you pay with cash. I randomly found this little cafe while I was waiting for my order to be ready at the bagel place across the street, and boy am I glad I stopped by! The cafe itself is quite small inside, so given social distancing rules, if there are 1 or 2 people inside, you'll probably need to line up outside. That being said, service is usually very quick and efficient! I've tried the following drinks here: - Matcha latte - Lavender latte - Rose latte - Spanish latte (a latte with an espresso shot that is mixed with condensed milk) They have oat milk as an option, which I LOVE, because 1) I'm lactose intolerant but 2) I don't find soy or almond milk to be as creamy as normal milk, but oat milk is! The lavender latte and Spanish latte are my two favorites; the lavender is just strong enough for the flavor to come through, but not overpowering, and the Spanish latte is an awesome change of pace from regular lattes. It reminds me of a slightly less intense Vietnamese coffee. I wanted to enjoy the rose latte more, but sadly the rose syrup was way too floral for me and it felt like I was drinking a fresh bouquet of flowers. I also wasn't a fan of the matcha latte; I'm not sure what matcha they used, but the matcha flavor wasn't very strong, and it was a bit grainier than I would have liked. I also found it to be a bit too sweet. They have a little punch card for frequent customers which I picked up! The last time I was in here they also seem to have added two full shelves of snacks in the back in addition to pastries in the front. I tried one of the pastries (some sort of olive oil cake) and it was good, but nothing out of this world. I'd personally stick to the coffee! read more
