Great selection of fish, plants and aquarium supplies. The staff member I worked with was extremely knowledgeable and professional. The endlers and shrimp I purchased are very healthy and thriving in my home tank. I highly recommend this store and intend to return when I'm in the Denver metro area again. read more

A matter of time for this store. Their prices were too expensive and the customer support was terrible. On average their prices were about 30% more expensive than other shops and their policies regarding livestock sales we're ridiculous. Not allowed to buy rainbow fish singly but had to be purchased in pairs (male and female). Their prices were just too expensive for the average hobbyist to get into the hobby. read more

Expert help in the store. But I have to knock them a couple of stars for limited hours. What I cannot fathom is a retail business closing the doors at 5pm sharp through the week. No way for most of their customers to get there Mo-Fri. I was there at 5:01 tonight. The door already locked. The employees shrugged at me like they had no power to unlock the door. Not customer savvy owners. read more

They were great! Every time we went in! Polite and helpful. Personal service. Great variety on the fish.

Neptune's is my go-to local fish store. No matter how busy they are, they are friendly, helpful and attentive. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and makes sure you have the proper set-up for any fish you are interested in. I have a 23 gallon stocked with glowlight tetra, honey gourami, kuhli loaches, amano shrimp, cherry shrimp and a mystery snail from Neptune's - all livestock has been incredibly healthy from the start, adapted well and I have not had a single loss. Even if I don't need anything I love to go and look at the clean, inviting tanks where there is always something new. They have also given me store credit for extra snails! read more

I've bought probably 30 fish from Neptune's so far. You only get a 5 day warranty, which could be much better, Petsmart gives you 2 weeks. In fact, I've bought maybe 7-8 from Petsmart and those are all alive and well. On the other hand, I've lost a ton of fish from Neptunes, and fish that died within a short period of time included: Threadfin Rainbow, Guppy, Swordtail , Green Lantern, Amano Shrimp, cherry shrimp, ghost shrimp, a mystery snail, and a Dwarf Gourami that had Dwarf Gourami Disease- which after research, is due to poor breeding (inbreeding)- resulting in gene deficiencies, ultimately weakening their immune system. This makes me REALLY question their supplier. Also, the staff is hit or miss in offering help- sometimes I'll be waiting for 30 minutes before being asked if I need help and it would be nice if they were more proactive in offering advice on what you're buying. The staff could be a BIG difference maker in getting 5 stars. Their hours are also laughable- what legitimate business is open for LESS than 8 hours, closes at 5pm, right when people get off work? I think I've seen enough- time to find a new store! read more

Wonderful local fish store with great expertise! We now only go here versus the big box pet stores because they have top quality materials and fish! We purchased two Mickey Mouse platy fish for our son and although one didn't make it, we are getting the tank prepped for more. I had no idea the fish owning world requires quite a bit of education and patience!! You really want to have experts help you through this process. They will also test your water for you as it needs to be at a certain level to be friendly to your fish. Next up some ghost shrimp! read more

I love Neptune's. It is my go-to for supplies and fish. Everyone there is super friendly and so knowledgeable. As a novice, I appreciate their patience and attentiveness. The tanks are so clean, you can tell the fish are well cared for. Highly highly recommend them yo all fish lovers! read more

Yikes! This place was a bit of a nightmare. Although they require masks they are NOT limiting how many people they allow into their small store at the same time. I counted (including us) about 26 people, not including employees. The freshwater aisle was completely packed. You could barely walk around someone let alone distance. It also didn't help that one of the employees (wearing a mask at least) was continually coughing a dry cough in the middle of this madness! I think I won't be back. read more

awesome service!! everyone that works at Neptune's has such a great attitude and their energy really helps make the place feel nice. they have some really cool fish (freshwater and saltwater) , a few days ago we went to Neptunes to get some Otos to help clean up our brown algae problem. A few days later one of the smaller ones we had died so we got a water sample and made the 27 minute journey back to see what the problem was, turns out we had a very lethal amount of ammonia and nitrate in our tank (enough that our fish could probably be dead within 24-27 hour) so we got some live plants and did a 50% water change. the tank looks great and the fish are healthy, gonna get some more fish for the tank and another Oto to spruce up the tank. read more

I called to inquire about a particular filter in stock as mine stopped working The staff member who answered first asked if I had cleaned the filter then proceeded to patiently guide me through cleaning my filter. My filter then worked perfectly. I wanted to share this experience to let people know the quality of staff at Neptune's. I have been going to their store exclusiveley for several years as they have healthy stock and their live plants have always done well. Every staff member I have spoke to over the years has had an extensive knowledge base. This is an excellent store! read more

We wanted to support a local business but I felt so unsafe we left immediately. All employees were NOT wearing masks, no social distancing and crowded. So disappointing. We went to pet smart and felt so much safer. Wish local businesses were supporting protecting their community. read more

This place has been my go-to for years! Everyone who works there is very knowledgeable about their fish and how best to care for them. Whenever one of my fish is ill, I know I can come to them for advice. Their fish are always healthy so I know I won't make my established tank sick introducing new fish. read more

i buy all my fish here. They are a very busy store... every time I'm in there to get water they have a minimum of 10 people in the store. Everyone has been very kind to me and very helpful as well as informative when telling me what fish are allowed in which tank so that they don't kill one another. The vibe is very laid-back, good music everyone is always having a good time in there. good selection of fish and coral, as well as snails and crabs. Definitely recommend this place. We moved out to Parker and we still drive all the way to Highlands Ranch to go to this spot! read more

Make sure you count your fish before leaving. I didn't, and was met with a snide remark. New to the Denver area I found Neptune's as a trusty business to purchase fish from. Up until today they have been professional, helpful, and their fish have always thrived after bringing them home. Yesterday evening I purchased 6 for $25. I did not hover over the associate as she caught & bagged them. Fish were bagged in plastic, then in paper bag. I did not notice one missing until after acclimating them. Counted, recounted, and sure enough one was missing. Mistakes happen, no big deal. I was not holding it against anyone. I stopped by today to make sure the price was correct before pointing out the error. The young lady who helped me was there and apologized. The other one caught, bagged the fish, and as I walked out said "hope this one doesn't jump out". I was taken aback by this comment, enough to go back in the store and ask for clarification. Insinuating I am asking for a freebie? I have no issue paying for fish but I do expect what I pay for. This left a very sour taste and I would hesitate in returning. How dare you? read more

I love fish. I was so excited to see a dedicated fish shop. But it was weird from the seconded walked in, the owner was laying on the floor and then when he finds out my tank as only been ruining for 10 days he just about lost his socks! He was unkind on how we approached the Nitrogen cycle, and then how he explained it. He was condescending and won't sell me a fish, and insists if I come in again to bring a water sample. This guy is obviously passionate about his career, but for 99% of fish keepers this is a hobby and hobbyists should be patient and knowledgeable. I left feeling deflated and upset and would not recommend anyone new or young to come to this shop. read more

I love this place, it's always a really friendly family attitude when I come in, Cole and Seth are very knowledgeable and always happy to answer questions and share what they know. Stopped in because I am trying to find the right fish for me and wanted to see the selection they offered. I was blown away! Beautiful fish, clean aquariums, clearly marked when fish are quarantined for observation before selling. So much better than the chain stores. I did read reviews before going in and I do not understand why people are being so hateful on this shop. I will be back to purchase my fish and ask questions on them! read more

Decent prices, but their customer service sucks!! We'd been standing at the register for 7 mins before we got rung up!! Lady at the register just sat on her butt talking on the phone ignoring us!! She literally was sitting down!! Shoot the bird in this photo said Hello, to us and whistled cat call type whistles at us; while she continued to talk on the phone! She never greeted us, said hello, or even thanked us as she rang us up!! I don't think she would have rung us up if she hadn't heard my husband asking the guy delivering water if he could get us someone to ring us up!! I'm prone to say we'll never come back again, if our previous experience hadn't been so pleasant! That experience, and the prices are what is getting this establishment a 3 star rating! Otherwise I'd just be leaving a 2 star rating!! read more

DO NOT BUY from this Store!!! We bought 4 baby clown fish. The told us the have a 5 day return policy. On the day we bought it one of the clowns was swimming sideways and breathing heavy. We recorded it and took the video to another fish store because this one was closed. They observed it and all said it was more than likely stress. The next day it seemed fine. But woke up the next day and it was dead. Now keep in mind that they told us at purchase that you can't put 2 pair of clowns in the same tank because they are aggressive. (These were not maroons) he also said they get aggressive around age 2 years. Again not true. So I called and they told me what I needed to bring in so we could return it. I followed their instructions to the letter. From the moment we walked in with a dead fish in a baggie they said they didn't return salt water fish. This is not what we were told. They tested the water and said the ammonia and nitrites were too high. Again not true as the water is tested in our tank every single day. Plus they didn't even show us the results. They just handed us back the empty viles. Also want to say that they claimed the tiny 1/2 inch babies fought it and killed it because you can't put more than 1 pair of clowns in a tank. So why does every article and 2 other fish stores say it's fine. And the killer of the whole thing is that they have multiple tanks with up to 3 pairs of clowns in their own store. They have no intention of honoring their return policy and lie to justify it. They do not work with integrity. Avoid at all costs!! read more

Here are the facts: 1. I have been buying from Neptune's for the past 1.5 years. 2. Here is what I've bought over this period in probably 6-8 visits: 3 peacock gudgeons, 8 cherry barbs, 20 neons, 4 electric blue rams, 2 german blue rams, 2 bristlenoses, 12 ambers, 4 sterbais, 7 rainbow celebes, 12 lambchop rasboras, 12 phoenix rasboras. + a bunch of food and accessories. 3. Remarkably, all but the rainbow celebes are still healthily swimming around in my tanks. 4. The rainbows fell victim to Denver water changing up hardness on our home dramatically without notification. 5. I should have monitored hardness weekly, instead of dropping down to monthly. I'm confidently saying that this was therefore entirely my fault and hopefully I have learned something from this. 6. You cannot get otos, colored bristlenoses, or most of the more rare apistos there. So based on these facts, judge for yourself if you want to buy lifestock at Neptune's. Here is my subjective opinion: 1. Neptune's got me into Kessil lights by having a sample tank next to the checkout. Kessil lights make my tanks look like actual lakes or riverways and make the whole family enjoy the aquariums a lot more. However, I did not buy them at Neptune's. Why? Because I simply did not have (or want to spend) the time driving there and back. With hindsight, I'll buy the next ones there. 2. The staff is very knowledgable and they are typically fish geeks. HOWEVER, not all of them might be inclined to geek out with you every time or you might need to wait for 5 minutes for someone to net your fish during prime time. While I love nothing more than geeking out about water chemistry, optimizing my inline devices, or the next upgrade to my auto waterchange system, I also know that these guys server dozens of customers each day. 3. Waiting 5 minutes to pay or for having your fish netted. This is a zero sum game: they could hire more staff but considering the razor thin margins on fish, they would need to compromise on quarantine or increase prices. Sadly, it is very hard to do this for freshwater fish, as otherwise 30% of customers will go to Petco, not knowing about the terrible conditions fish are typically in over there. 4. No apistos, otos, colored bristlenoses: I'm actually glad that Neptune's is focusing on offering a narrower freshwater selection, but doing this extremely well. Finally: Again, the fact that I have never had diseases or any losses, despite being a newbie when I started going there is all you need to know. read more

Customer service is lacking. When I walked in the lady at the front did not greet me, just said "Water sample testing is in the back" after seeing the bag of water and two dead fish in my hands (all three separate bags). When I walked to the back I had to say something to get the attention of three employees unpacking fish. Was told my water sample was high on nitrates and nitrites, after I had tested the water right before coming with no such results with an API freshwater master test kit. Half of the fish we bought on Saturday and Sunday died within a few days. My boyfriend brought a water sample in Sunday (girl said everything was normal). I then brought another sample after more fish died and was told the levels were high only a few days later and a recent water change that was done Friday evening. This was the exact same water with no difference except a few days apart. The whip tail catfish we were sold had no tail fin (our other does) and was clearly not well. We are very knowledgeable owners, with one 75 gallon tank and another 55 gallon tank with figure 8 puffers, and have experience with advanced fish. Will not be returning. Natures box is a better store or fish den. read more

I love this store, I would rate it as a 4 star business, but because of this one employee, it gets 1 star. Their employees are usually polite and helpful, but I just went in to buy a mystery snail today and I was asking questions and to see a few of the shells close up before I decide on buying one, and the male employee that was "helping" me said, "you are probably the neediest snail costumer I've ever had..." in such a rude tone. read more

I have been shopping here for tropical fish for over 15 yrs. I was just denied buying a certain Parrot Cichlid from the girl I usually buy fish from. She told me my tank is in big enough (it's 48 gallons). I have had cichlids over the years. I will never shop here again. No reason was given except they "get too big for my 48 gallon tank". That's ridiculous. I have dumped hundreds and hundreds of dollars into this small business over the years. Take your business elsewhere. She's on a power trip. read more

Some of the other reviews mention the poor customer service, but we've only had pleasant interactions with the staff. I'm not calling other people liars; it's only my experience. Helpful, patient staff is good, since we are only brand new fish owners. We had no idea what to get -- fish or supplies. We bought a tank set up and a few starter fish. They gave us good directions for what to do next. They also told us to call if we had questions. We called them twice and they gave us advice both times. They didn't seem annoyed we were calling with simple questions. We also went with our three year old daughter each time. They were nice to her, and to us, during the process. read more

My favorite place to get fish, have seen other people complain about customer service but I have personally never had a negative experience.

I've gone here for years and spent tons on their products, fish, and coral due to the outstanding customer service received. Today I had a very unpleasant experience where the associate basically discounted my intellect and ability to make my own decisions. I attempted to make a purchase and he continually tried talking me out of fit, then refused to make the sell claiming that it was on hold for another client. Moments later I had a friend try and purchase the same item and he was willing to make the sale. Not sure if I was refused the sale due to my sexual orientation, however feel harassed the same. I'd love for the manager of the establishment to reach out to me to discuss as I have worked with her for years and know the level of service she expects and portrays. read more

I came 30 miles from north of town just to buy cheap plants and fish. As I browse through their various selection of aquatic plants, I couldn't help but become horrified on how they care for their anubias plants. I looked at the anibias family and just want to face palm due to the fact that most of them melted. I wouldn't be surprised if they're killing their java ferns too. Anubias and java ferns are not meant to be grounded since they feed off of their rhizomes or whatever the hell you call it. Thats the reason to why I gave them a 3 star but other than that, prices on feeder guppies were cheap. Id wish their ghost shrimps would be cheaper than petsmart though. And the poor moss balls, what happened to them? If these family owned mom and pop stores want to beat the corporate, they need to look at the prices that big companies are setting it at and try to beat them. Unless theres other factors to consider to why they have it set at those prices. Insurance, electrical and water bill, spacial rent etc... Again, to the shopkeepers, please do your research on those plants before planting them. I know that you threw the algae eating crew into those tanks too and the algae is stealing the nutrients from the plants somehow. But nonetheless, take better care of them plants since they also play an important part in the aquarium. read more
