    Summer is still here!

What a cool event! I am new to Chicago and a friend of mine suggested we get tickets to Neon Summer. I didn't have much expectations but I really enjoyed myself. It makes for a great date spot! You can axe throw, go-kart, mini golf and take amazing selfies! I recommend you get tickets that come with drinks. A nice hard seltzer makes mini golf extra fun. Hahahaha. I also recommend you skip paid parking and try your hand at free street parking. We found a great part and it was only a few minutes away from the location. I hope you guys enjoy yourself!

What a blast!!! I saw someone post about neon summer a week and some change before it opened and I'm so glad I did. I purchased the go kart and admission package for 2 people. Decent price considering the go karts go for 11 laps! I thought that was a lot lol. When we arrived at 4pm they had just opened so we were able to get the go karts all to ourselves!! SCORE. We also added a drink package to our purchase for $20 at the door which gave us 4 drink tickets. And let me tell you, those drinks were strong! Just like I like them. The mini golf was fun as well! All the picture worthy opportunities for the gram allowed for a great time. They also had bags set up as well which was a ton of fun. But then, we saw a food truck pop up!!! WHAT A WIN. It was flash taco and the food was FIRE. We did everything but the axe throwing, but I was ok with that. I had a blast. I hope they bring this back next year, it was an amazing time! P.S. make sure you bring cash to tip the wonderful bartenders. I used my last $20 to get the extra drink tickets and didn't have any cash to tip them, even when they tried to look for an atm for me (which there were none close by). Thats my only regret :( the bartenders were LOVELY and really understanding of the situation. So please tip them!!

"Neon Summer is an urban adventure featuring Chicago's first outdoor go-kart track and a custom mini-golf course, with unique surprises throughout the course." I think with all "pop-up's" if you're thinking of going, you should decide quickly and don't go on social media and read to many reviews because SPOILER ALERT. Not many surprises will be left out. Price varies based on the day/time you come. Admission starts at $10(4pm weekdays) but $15-$17 is the price 95% are going to start at, you can mix 1 or 2 drinks, and go kart at different increments Think the only thing you're saving is time (swiping card) and not money once you get pass the admission fee. Friday 6:00 p.m. $17 admission - (access to 9 mini-golf - unlimited plays) @7:30 go kart (11 laps 1x) was $20 add on (due to time/and n) Additional: Ax/Food Ax throwing $5 for two throws/ $10 for five throws separate from the ticket pricing -optional Drinks/pizza/tacos/cotton candy. = $$$ (optional) Basketball Connect 4 (free) Bean Bags (free) Bocce Ball (free) Music was a mix. The three songs I remember the most was MJ -Thriller, M.C. Hammer - U can't touch this and Khalid -Talk Like Wndr museum. It's Instagram friendly if that's your thing. I didn't have to wait for anything except the basketball connect four. If it wasn't for the wait, I'll say my trip would've been 1 hour. but we came kind of early (6pm) Tons of seats around the mini-golf area. Makeshift table stands to hold your drinks. Two "bars" Not Full bar but select drinks maybe about 7 total. With truly being one of the options. (Truly advertisement stamped all over the place as I'm sure they are the ones that sponsored/endorsed this pop-up) Due to selection of food/drinks opted for a local bar instead. (Output) Overall impression was it was a fair experience. Happy to have gone but been there done that. Probably better in a group of four or more. Some spots were way to DIRTY to sit at that were clearly designed to take photos. Basketball Connect four had about basketballs missing. (Each side should have 16 one side 10 other was 14.) Also, because their was no designated line for this game, it resulted in not one, but two groups of people jumping in front of me. No waiting in Line for us for mini-golf & go karts. However, I can see how the wait time for mini-golf can be longer and out of order if you come after 7. It's like a bar. The longer you wait the more people and crowded it's going to be so depends on your style should determine what time you should come.

Was definitely a fun interactive place. Go Karts were good despite the small track. The added laps made up for the small track. Mini golf was fun (9 holes). They have multiple bars around. They also have bags and axe throwing. The taco truck on site (La Maria) was amazing!!!!

This experience was more of a Instagram photo opt level of entertainment. I'll say upon arrival it was easy to get checked in and had no problem with that but me and my bf decided to check in on yelp and in doing that yelp gave you a voucher for a free bottle of water for doing that (mind you they were giving out bottles of water you could easily buy at dollar store. It wasn't Dasani and was charging $3 for it). We took the voucher to the bartenders they didn't really know what to do and or whether they could accept the voucher or not. So, after being referred back to the the check in area - they were like we have to contact a manager and took pictures of it via their phone but finally honored it and we got the bottle of water. The first stop is where you can select the golf clubs and balls (this is included in your admission ticket). You basically follow the signs that are numbered to start the golf course levels (it's 8-9 in total I believe). Mostly all the games are first come first serve and with each course they have these photo opportunities by each area. Some of which the photo opts were cute but idk from the photos and what was displayed on the Instagram account I guess I just was really expecting more from the experience and when I got there it just wasn't all that it was portrayed on social media. We get general admission tickets on purpose as I looked at the package deals and felt it was a bit expensive for not that much. Overall, I will say neon summer Chicago is a social event and probably would be more fun with a group of 4 and up. Me and my bf came for a date night, and we did the golf course & played basketball which was like the connect four game (had the opportunity to play against another couple due to long wait) and that was fun. Drinks were available for purchase, I saw a total of 6 drinks you could select from but didn't see any I really thought I'd enjoy. The go-kart ride was something we were gonna do, but had a change of heart as we noticed as more people started coming the wait was longer and seem like the limit of time for racing the track was shorter. Overall, I feel like the idea of neon summer Chicago was pretty cool but the level of execution just didn't do it for me. Most of the photo opt area were dirty and looked like it had been up longer then it's been in the area...You can tell it was a pop up.. almost like they expect it to be there for the matter of weeks and it'll all be gone so why bother keeping it clean!? Lol idk? I will say that the porter-potties were clean and had they stations to wash your hands which were inside and some around the park. Honestly, the only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is due to the fact that I got some nice pictures, but that's all I can say about the experience.

So, I was super excited to go to this pop up event for weeks; however, once I actually got there it was NOT what I expected. You literally go here for Instagram pictures and mini golf. They want to charge for every other add on which doesn't make the experience pleasant. The only reason I had fun was because of the people I was with. I wouldn't recommend spending a ton of money here, it's not worth the value.

This place was so much fun. We got to ride go karts, axe throw and played the best round of mini golf. My son loved all the photo opps while waiting for the next hole. The lines were short and the axe throwing instructor was very helpful. Can't wait to see what this falls pop up will bring.

We did have a small issue with table availability and staff communication, which was frustrating enough that I considered calling a manager. Because of this, I'm giving 3 stars. Otherwise, the drinks, food, and ambiance were excellent.

Upon arrival we showed the nice guy at the register our tickets and we got a red game play card with 100 credits on it. Unfortunately, I don't think I even used all of my credits. So many machines were out of order, I would say a good 30% of their inventory was not working. So the games got a little repetitive. There was one machine that had no out of order service sticker, so we tried to use it and it didn't work. It just stole our credits. It was the machine where you hit the ball to test your strength. My friends and I got pretty bored with the games and went to their restaurant. We just shared an order of wings and my friend got funnel cake fries that came with ice cream and an assortment of other toppings. The food was okay- it was what you would expect arcade food to taste like. Our waiter was very kind, but service was really slow. We had to flag someone down to take our order after we initially sat down and waited for about 20 minutes. I probably wouldn't come back here, if I want a mediocre arcade experience I'll just stick with Dave and Busters!

Of course we took our kids along because they would be the ones who could take full advantage of the facilities. The park itself was quite large, but we went for the kids playground. Signs were clearly marked for direction so we got to our destination with no difficulties. Our boys definitely enjoyed the suspension bridge, though my younger one was hesitant to go on first. I did see some older kids who were climbing "outside of the bridge infrastructure. There was a note to remind anyone not to do so. Oh well, it is what it is. Even if some accidentally fell when doing risky tricks, the soft padded ground would reduce the impact. On the other hand, there was one section of playground exclusively for children older than 5 years old. The slide seemed to be more advanced for young toddlers for sure. Therefore, we performed our sightseeing duty and walked away since our munchkins were 2.5 and 4.5 years old. Our older one enjoyed the straight slides. I liked that fact there were multiple slides with various speeds so that kids would not get bored on staying on the same one. Normally I wouldn't recommend anyone to drive to downtown but we did this time. My partner was able to secure a spot via SpotHero at the Harris Theater for a reasonable price. I got there much later than our scheduled arrival time yet he was able to extend for another 30 minutes in the app. Overall, we highly recommend parents to visit "Maggie Daley Park" and let the kids release some energy. We probably will be back again to poke around other areas when spring and summer in Chicago are in full bloom.

There are several play areas of swings, slides, and climbing structures, some intended for (and with signs to indicate) specific age ranges. The giant slides and towers, and the ship-shaped climber, were very popular. Busy, but not over-crowded. It was quite entertaining, and we played there over 1.5 hours!
