Plushies in Monterey Park, California... After brunch at Atlantic Times Square, we walked around and were drawn into this arcade because of the cute Hello Kitty plushies! I don't play claw games - I just wanted to see the other plushies. To my surprise, there were Cony (the white bunny) and Brown (the bear) and even Sally (the yellow duck) from the Line Friends collection! There were prices above the plushies in the glass case above the claw game! Oh, wow! I could just buy them without stressing out from a game! The guy at the cash register was really friendly and helpful! He found the key for the glass case and let me choose the Cony and Brown that I wanted! Yay! Then he saw my HIFF/Hawaiian Airlines lanyard and asked about Hawaii. I gave him a few tips since he will be visiting the 50th State for the first time soon! Overall, this was a clean shop. Honestly not the best arcade that there is in California I was expecting more games or better prizes on the claw machines and both kind of disappointed. I was happy with the company I had gone with, but it wasn't the best time. There was a fighting game they had it was cool but like another reviewer had said it was kind go mediocre. Omg what a fun place! We were with another family visiting the area and we figured this would be a nice distraction for the 4 kids while the parents caught up some more. First, the selection of games and toys in the claw machines were super cute and not just dinky random keychains I've been seeing at some of the other chain claw machine shops that have been popping up. Second, the pricing is very fair as credits are cheaper if you get more upfront but you can select certain free toys by buying a certain tier, so depending on how many you purchase, you're guaranteed to leave with at least something. For $35, we got 285 (I forget the exact number) credits to play and a free toy to choose from (one of the options we just saw earlier in a little Tokyo store on sale for $20 by itself!). Most games were 6-12 credits per play, and obviously some machines are trickier to win than others but it wasn't impossible for our young kids and they were excited with what they won. Edward was especially patient and wonderful with the kids as they contemplated and went back and forth on how to redeem their tickets. It's a fun place for all ages - as much fun as we had, we definitely weren't the only ones having a blast! Will visit again anytime we are in the area. read more

This place is tucked away and seems small, but it is packed with arcade machines. It was our first time visiting and the employee on duty, Alexis, was very friendly and patient with us. The arcade itself was very clean and the machines were well taken care of. There were a few that needed some work but the value you receive is well worth it. The claw machines are some of the best in the area when in comes to variety and value. The only thing missing are the UFO Catcher or push type claws. The plushies inside are well made and are actually characters you will recognize. One area that may need some work are the types of prizes offered when redeeming tickets/points. They go from low priced, low quality toys and jump to high priced large plush toys. Some prizes in the middle area , possibly hot wheels or snacks would fill the gap nicely in my opinion. read more

Neofuns Neofuns is different from other arcades, it's smaller then other huge chain arcades and they have more claw machine games then other ticket arcade machines. They have all the claw machines with different sizes from the really huge ones and the medium sized machines as well as the ufo claw machines. They even have claw machines about 2 feet tall and they stack them on top of each other. One of the ways the machines profit off costumers is a payout which means it can control how many times u win. For example u May notice the claws grip may be weak at times and strong at other times this is a payout. With a payout coded into the machines it's not based off skill but off of your luck with the payout. The machines payouts is better on the smaller machines or the Macaroon claws. The claws grip is strong 80% of the time according to the sign on the machine and playing many times I think it's pretty accurate, same for all the other machines with the percentage signs. The bigger ones that I played on had really bad payouts but the 2 feet tall ones are easier to win on. The prizes are different at Neofuns from other places. I spontaneously stopped by here with my girlfriend after watching the Lion King at the AMC next door. I must say... this arcade was just as fun as the movie! There are plenty of games with great prizes, but my personal favorites were the claw machines. They have some easy ones with cool prizes (various Pokémon or other anime plushies) for only one token each, as well as some intense, massive claw machines with HUGE plushies (anime characters again) for 3 tokens each. To give you an idea, $10=12 tokens. We spent about $30 which got us 4 plushies (see photo) plus a bonus free gift for spending over $25. They have several tiers of free gifts ranging from $25,$35, or $120+ spent. Trust me-- it's easy to spend over $100 here because it's a blast! We were helped a lot by the very friendly staff here as well. They gave us tips on how to win the games and overall made the experience much more enjoyable.
