The lake looked quite nice at night.

I am rather surprised at the good reviews for this event. I liked the idea of it but it was definitely lacking in the scare or even special effects factor. How about a hologram here and there? The way you get your food is by stopping at different spots in the route and showing the menu to individuals in costume in their own unique staged area which was kinda cool although I'm not sure how safe it is to be putting your menu in their basket each time you stop by given that we are in a global pandemic. The food was mediocre. All the employees were really nice though. I recommend bringing some wet wipes and maybe a Tide pen as the eating in the car part can get real messy real quick. I think the most important factor to making this event enjoyable is the company you're with since it's a long slow dark car ride.

Thank you to Hype Experiences for arranging this media visit for me to review this. If you are a content creator, I recommend joining their community to review experiences! More info here https://hypeexperiences.com/about-for-reviewers Los Angeles has a brand new Halloween attraction just half an hour east of downtown. Transforming the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area on select nights in October is THE BITE LA HALLOWEEN FOOD CRAWL & CREATURE SAFARI, a unique self-drive-thru affair that provides a fun and safe way for the entire family to celebrate the spooky season, in compliance with all COVID-19 protocols. You can have extra fun by getting the gang together and decorating your car ahead of time. Cars that arrive "in costume" are automatically entered in a car costume contest for the chance to win fun prizes throughout the season. Costumed or not, upon arrival at Legg Lake, you are instructed to turn off all headlights and tune the car radio to the event's own station which provides the perfect scary soundtrack for the night, and I recommend playing it fairly loud for the fullest effect. Slowly drive along a hauntingly lit path as you gaze at the eerie decorations and search for spine-chilling creatures who want to give you a fright. Bring a flashlight to shine through the trees during this safari to try to spot the creatures before they spot you. Make a game of it among everyone in your car of who can find them first, which kids should especially enjoy playing. Ghosts and goblins may even approach the car to serve up some big scares. Don't worry about them getting too close for comfort though, because they know to observe social distancing. Continue weaving your way into the food crawl to collect the 8 "bites" per person that are included with admission, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options available. There are 8 stops along the food crawl, each a chillingly decorated installation guarded by a creepy but kind ghoul who delivers bites directly to each car from a safe distance. Each bite is a satisfying snack that can be easily eaten in a car - think sliders and meatballs and things with names like Terror Tots and Children of the Corn Bread. On the night I went, my personal favorites were the Thankskilling Meatballs which came in a sweet spicy sauce and the Alfredo Hitchcock Ravioli, a giant raviolo in a creamy sauce with a touch of nutmeg that screams autumn holidays. All the bites together add up to essentially a full meal, but if desired, additional bites can be ordered along the way, with payment for those extra bites due at the conclusion of the crawl. On top of all the bites, everyone also gets a dessert and a fall drink such as hot cocoa or apple cider. The final destination is a drive-in style area for a virtual campfire consisting of lighting effects that mimic a fire, with a large screen above it. Park your car in front of one of the hay bales and enjoy your bites as you take in the show. Synced to your radio, the screen plays a roughly 15 minute loop of seasonal clips including 2 ghost stories. I soaked in the atmosphere, sipping warm apple cider, before I decided it was time for me to drive back to reality. This is a wonderful way to safely enjoy a Halloween night out with family and friends while supporting the local workers and small businesses that are a part of this unique attraction. The staff and security along the way are friendly and eager to help, and the costumes, sets, and actors are of impressively high quality, a serendipitous byproduct of LA being the birthplace of cinema. Specific entry times and a ticket for each person must be purchased online in advance, so hurry and book your time slot today. Plan to spend about 90 minutes for the full experience, and note that alcohol is strictly prohibited. More Info: www.thebitela.com

Sister and I had an amazing time tonight. The setting is perfect and the creature safari was creepier than expected. We went to Urban Legends at OC Fair and we were really disappointed... thank goodness for Bite LA for restoring faith that you can do a good Halloween event during COVID. The actors and costumes/sets were really unique and creative. The food was ok, not great, but we didn't go into this expecting gourmet food. It reminds me of appetizers you would get at a Chili's or Applebee's. Thanks for putting on such a fun, spooky and uniquely charming event!

This was our first time and it was AMAZING!!! We wanted something that we could drive through and the added plus was the food!! We loved all of the items on the menu and the kids had a blast!! We all were scared at some point which made it even more fun!! Definitely recommend this, loved that we could see scary stories at the end and enjoy the tasty food/ dessert and hot cocoa. Thank you for giving us some type of normalcy during this pandemic!!

This creature popped out of nowhere and made me scream at the top of my lungs!

Oh my God this was so good! Honestly, credit to whoever thought of this scare maze/food crawl! Since the pandemic most events have been canceled but this event was so so creative in adapting to stay COVID safe. Such a good scare too! I was hiding under my seat!!! Costumes and performances we so amazing! I love the campfire ghost stories touch at the end of the drive through. 10/10 would recommend friends (in fact 3 of my friends are taking their families this weekend!) best night

My boyfriend and I went to the Halloween Food Crawl and Creature Safari with our pup and had a great experience! Driving through the Create Safari was actually scarier than we expected and the staff did a great job. The actors were very enthusiastic in front of their intricately decorated doors, and made grabbing each bite enjoyable. At the end we were able to enjoy our bites with some spooky stories, drive-in style. What a great way to end the spooky season!

When I went, they opened from 5pm til 10pm, but stop admitting people at 9. - Entry: Carnival tickets are $9.95 (I paid $10 at the window), and they stamp your hand as you walk in. All rides are unlimited, but you still pay for food and games. I never had to wait long for a ride. It's such a good deal! Beware of mud on the dirt and hay ground since they water it and wear close-toed shoes. - Rides: I'm afraid of heights, so I only rode the baby rides like the merry-go-round, bumper cars, spinning dragons (think Disneyland teacups), mini roller coaster, dumbo, etc., and I died on the Ferris Wheel, although it was very smooth and did not sway. I watched my friends go on the Super Shot (smaller, shorter version of Supreme Scream), spinning swings, and a spinning ride where you lie on your stomach. We also went to a small mirror maze. There were more rides, like a large slide and many of them rides for small children. However, there were a few rides that did not work. A majority of workers were energetic and fun, but the ones with broken rides were tired and didn't want to be there. ***Food: Sort of pricy depending on what you get, but that's normal at fairs.*** - Standard fair food like funnel cakes, nachos and candied apples can be found here. Given the predominantly Latino area, there were many stands selling Mexican food and refreshments. - Churros. They were alright, but I could have skipped them. - Funnel cake. I went up to a random stand to get peach funnel cake that came with whippe cream on top; it was pretty good because they kept the canned peaches cold, but it wasn't amazing. It was also pricy at $7, but it was huge and I split it. - Sope. Bought a $5 carne asada sope topped with shredded cabbage, guacamole, sour cream, a slice of tomato, and grated cotija cheese. The masa base was so good and fresh; I saw the ladies shaping them at the booth! The meat was also flavorful and not tough. However, they skimped on the guac and sour cream. The tomato was ripe and yummy; I wish they gave one more slice. I added lime juice from the condiments on their table. I ate it all up and got really full!

Also there was tons of food trucks for those hungry bellies. We got 2 lanterns to decorate. The kit comes with 1 marker and a lantern with battery powered electric candle to put inside. It was fun decorating it. They gave a 1 hour window to place the lantern in the lake and that was so beautiful. With the lights and reflections in the water. Beautiful experience!

Each box included: the lantern, a mandala throw, a marker, conversation cards ( which I thoroughly enjoyed ) a deck of playing cards. The date box also came with a mandala throw and a light up flower crown. There was some music playing, by the time I had arrived there was no performers, some people went on stage to express their feelings and how/why they came to the festival. The magician and moon bouncers were great entertainment for the kids! Thank you for bringing an event like this to our community, it's great what you are doing!! Two Thumbs up! Wish we could have an event like this every weekend! A few bad reviews couldn't bring this place down! Sunday was on and popping with larger crowds and awesome entertainment and great raffles. To all those who put in a bad review obviously did not stay long enough to enjoy all this event had to offer!! The event was called Strawberry Fun Fest, not strawberry festival! So yes they did offer a few strawberry food stands, but had a lot more "fun to offer". So if u were disappointed by this not having enough strawberry stands to your liking then maybe it is a good idea for you to drive down to Oxnard. Can't wait for next years Strawberry Fun fest!!

A week ago people were dousing themselves & others with a myriad of colors welcoming in the Spring with this Classic Indian Tradition @ Hali The Festival of Colors in Whittier Narrows. It was a technicolor display of Emerald Green, Cobalt Blue, Sunshine Yellow, Jellybean Pink,& Magnificent Magenta. Participants were wearing masks on their faces to protect themselves from getting colors on their face. It was a happy & joyous time in LA March 7 & 8, 2020. Now people are wearing the exact same masks a week later March 15 2020 & beyond to protect themselves from Coronavirus. The same masks in a week means 2 completely different things. Happiness & Joy to Coronavirus & Pandemic. From Freedom to do whatever you wanted & Ringing in the Springtime with an Indian Tradition to lockdowns & closures of all people's social activities. In addition all dining activities have been turned into Take Out & Delivery Only. UNBELIEVABLE! You could never write this script or put it in a movie because people would never believe it. They would say it's Fake News unless I had the Pictures. Well I do have the pictures. It's just seems Surreal & an Incredibly Awful Nightmare that people want ended. Please take me back!!! They had Discounted price Tickets for this event with codes that you could use on their website. It was so much fun dancing & throwing the multi colors in the air & Yoga & all the other activities. We were all having so much with the Music & Dancing etc. They had several different price packages from just admission only, or you could buy a package with the 5 colors. The package with Admission & the 5 colors was The Most Fun. They would throw the colors in the air every hour & they would land on yourself & everyone else. They also had Food Trucks & assorted Merch booths you could buy T Shirts, books etc. If you missed it mark it in your calendar for next year. They also have another Holi Festival in the San Fernando Valley. Hopefully they can find a vaccine or cure soon & stop people from dying. Hopefully things can return to normal in a short time & everyone can be thankful & really enjoy this festival next year. It used to be, you had to have Mega Bucks & be really rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like a King on a Limited Budget!
