Bad Quality, Worse Business…read more My first visit after this practice took over Dr Don's business (the old practice owner) they told me I needed a crown and a filling I'd never been told about before. I got them both done costing me around $750 with insurance. I paid in full the day of the procedure. After 2 months of pain, I had to have the filling refilled (by another dentist) because the contact was poor and now I need a root canal because it was too deep. To make it worse, they sent me a bill 4 months after that fully paid visit for $18.27 titled "Balance Forward" with no description. But they don't offer online payments. Now, they called me about it on Tuesday, 8 months now since my last visit. I said I'd come in person to pay it. Well, they've already forwarded it to collections (3 days after I said I'd come in and pay it), and now collections is hounding me to pay $45. You'll lose your mind getting work done here. I'd suggest looking around. P.S. A lot of their five-star reviews were solicited through raffle giveaways in exchange for posting a review -- just something to keep in mind.

They were extremely shady and dishonest about if my insurance covered my appointment. They held the information that I was out of network even when I repeatedly asked if everything we were doing was covered. I was told that it would be. They were all in such a rush to get to lunch that the dental hygienist said we had to hurry up and that we might not get to everything today (I was only there for a simple cleaning). When I left, the receptionist said I was all good that everything was covered. I was handed no bill or any paperwork of my visit there. A week and a half later I got an outstanding bill and my insurance did not cover it because the dental office was out of network.

Dr. Fixler has created a practice that appears to prioritize generating income over providing…read moreevidence-based dental care. I switched to this practice due to a change in my insurance coverage, having recently had a dental exam and X-rays just six months prior. These images were provided to UHD. At my initial visit, before even receiving an exam, I was told I would need 18 bitewing X-rays to create a full-mouth panorama. As a medical physician, I questioned the necessity of this, especially given that recent X-rays were already available. When I asked whether I could opt for the standard molar bitewings instead, the hygienist became visibly frustrated. It seemed clear he was accustomed to patients questioning this practice and annoyed by it. An associate dentist then came in to explain that the full set of X-rays was necessary so she could assess my bone structure and check for oral cancer. I explained that I am a physician and that this is not the standard method for oral cancer screening. She then claimed that this was the "standard of care." When I asked her to show me the ADA guidelines to support this, she brought back a chart that applied to patients with periodontal disease or dentofacial abnormalities--neither of which apply to me. After reviewing the actual ADA guidelines myself (see screenshot from this article: https://jada.ada.org/article/S0002-8177(23)00734-1/fulltext), it's clear that requiring 18 X-rays in this context is not evidence-based. I shared this with her, and she then suggested we "dissolve the relationship" and that I seek dental care elsewhere. If you are looking for evidence-based care, compassionate professionals, and a practice that respects patient autonomy while avoiding unnecessary costs, I strongly recommend seeking care elsewhere.

Upon arrival and check in - the receptionist was EXTREMELY rude. The receptionist LOUDLY and ignorantly says - "were you in a fight?" When they said no. She then states "well me and my coworker were talking about it and couldn't figure out how you had so many broken teeth and I was gonna send you to Metro" Continuing with check in. She asks about insurance and then asked me where my sister worked. And during check in, the receptionist picked up the phone. Rudely ignoring my sister and BIL and has a conversation with whoever was on the phone. They were so disgusted by her lack of professionalism and how embarrassed she made them feel for trying to get help. They left immediately. 1) it is not everyone in the entire offices business what they have going on. People in the waiting room were even distracted looking and listening to the conversation. 2) it's none of that receptionist OR HER COWORKERS business why the teeth are in the condition they are in. Several people have teeth issues and lack of insurance or money cause it to not be fixed. People also have fear of dentists and put off work that is needed. 3) why is the receptionist. Who schedules appointments. Talking about my families private health information ? Publicly and LOUDLY... I guess it's okay for your employees to talk badly about the patients that schedule appointments. That woman acted like a little high school girl gossiping. People like that receptionist are why so many avoid taking care of their teeth. The shame and embarrassment that woman instilled was ignorant That receptionist is IGNORANT and should not be working with the public. It took my family awhile to get my BIL to go to the dentist. Because he had anxiety about being treated EXACTLY how your business decided to treat him today. This woman working for you is despicable and pathetic. Putting patients down... I am sure this is not the first person she has done something like this to. I myself have struggled with dental issues majority of my life. I went into another business with my teeth problems. Several broken and cracked teeth and a lot of other problems. And from the check in to the final work. Not a single person made me feel embarrassed about the condition. They were just happy that I was able to bring myself in to get things started and fixed. As the company should. There needs to be something done about that receptionist. She should not be working in a dental office acting that way. It's embarrassing for your practice. And I will make sure to share on every social media platform not to schedule at this place because that woman.
