I wanted to find a dental office to get a cleaning at quickly, as I was going to be getting Invisalign. All the other dentists in the area were booked until mid-October, but I was able to get into Aspen easily and they had flexible scheduling. Let me start off by saying it has been awhile since I've had a dental cleaning (~2 years), but before that I was going regularly every 6 months. My dental hygiene has declined in the last couple years, but I know my teeth are nowhere near as bad as they were made out to be. I was told I'd be foolish to start braces, and that if I didn't do their gingivitis cleaning (which cost over $200 after insurance!) there was no point in doing Invisalign as I'd need dentures after. I was already embarrassed to go back to the dentist knowing it had been so long since a cleaning, and I felt completely humiliated. The entire reason I went there was for a cleaning, and then I was told I couldn't even get that done as their hygienist was on leave! I left without booking another appointment, and will wait until October to get in with a regular dentist. read more

I went in there for one dental issue and left with a list of procedures and medicines that would've costed my insurance THOUSANDS. The first issue is billing, every visit there was an additional charge that needed to be paid. I was also told that I would need $7000.00 worth of work after paying $4000.00 for work that was done. Decided to get a second opinion and everything that was told to me from Aspen none of the work needed to be done. After that requested that my x-rays and dental records be transferred. That request was July,2025, still waiting for this to happen....Finally received a bill stating that I owed $1268.36, when I called to find out what I was being charged for I was told that they did not know but to contact my insurance company which I did and after that I received a bill for $80.00. At first I wanted to go in for a cleaning and some concern on a possible/ more than likely cavity. As seen in picture I thought it be alright to see them within a month. Then I get notified 3 days away with first message to reschedule, was frustrated but understood, talked to person at office and scheduled another appointment in another month on Saturday. Again same thing with notification and needing to reschedule!! Where I expressed my frustration and found out that they have misinformation of when they can schedule a Saturday that happens only 1 time a month and was being appointed on the wrong time slots for the month! Thinking this and at this point might as well get in the next time slot for the month that be 2 weeks away....i get notified less than 24 hrs that I need to reschedule again!!! This time because I guess there be a procedure that going to take all time from 8am-1pm! Where all I want is a simple x-ray for possible cavity! This is actually a threat to the dentist association and should be seen as a threat to peoples teeth on how poor their information and handling of it is. Avoid avoid avoid!!!!! Wow, I would give zero stars but it will not let me. I just want to share what a scam "Aspen Dentals" are so that no one else gets put into billing issues. First off, every single time I've gone, there is a billing issue. They will try to over-charge you (or re-charge you when you've already paid). Always pay with a credit card so that you can return to the office to "prove" you've paid your bill on the designated date so that they can confirm and remove your late fee. One time they even sent me to a debt collector for a visit that did not exist! (I had left the state 3 years ago and had not gone to the dentist on the date they claimed I did. In fact, I had been out of the state for over a year at that point). I know this all sounds insane (not sure I would even believe it) but this has happened to all 3 of my family members that have used them on separate occasions. I've been able to settle it each time, but it is not worth the headache. There is something wrong with the overall higher-level management at this place and it is very concerning. Not sure if this is a coincidence or not, but I had never had a cavity until I switched to this dentist. After switching away from Aspen, I've also never had a cavity again. It is probably just a very strange coincidence but I'm a little wary due to the fact that they are known scammers (hopefully it is not intentional and they just have a poor billing system). The patient is experiencing significant pain from the implant in place at aspen, and we are working to remove the implants and restore their well-being. I finally got my teeth trays after rearranging my work schedule for a few days. I then found out that I have to keep scheduling appointments with them every month. It was also here where I found out that alterations were physically being made to my teeth each time and attachments were being put on or altered. I wish I had known all of this from the beginning but it was never communicated. Their office schedule is also terrible. They are only open during business hours and one Saturday a month. I can only do Saturday mornings because I work 2 jobs and they basically expect me to move things around constantly. And they call last minute to say the doctor available doesn't even do the services needed after I've had the appoint scheduled for a few weeks. And when I finally have an appointment (that doesn't get canceled), I wait about 40 minutes after my appointment was even supposed to start before I get brought into the office and another 30 before work is even being done. DON'T GO TO ASPEN. The service will continuously be bad and it's more stress than it's worth. I wouldn't wish the stress, inconsistency and inconvenience they have put me through on my worst enemies.... I would however, wish it on the Aspen employees, because they truly need to understand how stressful it has been to work for them. read more

Awful experience ... I scheduling an exam and cleaning in April for 6/25/22. The office confirmed my appointment and all paperwork was completed. My appointment started 20 minutes late which is not a huge problem. However, I was then told no cleaning would take place today. I asked why not as that's what I'm scheduled for? I was told "we don't know you.... so we'll do your X-rays today only".  You'll have to schedule another appointment for a cleaning.... #1 WHAT A WASTE OF TIME. #2 UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS PRACTICES. I spoke with the office to confirm my appointment for an exam and cleaning. I checked in for an exam and cleaning..... AT NO TIME PRIOR TO MY APPOINTMENT DID ANYONE SAY WE CANNOT FULFILL THE APPOINTMENT. I ended up leaving without an exam or cleaning.... I would never do business with this place. I tried to send the following review to Aspen Dental Office in Mayfield Hts, Ohio: The previous 4 appointments we had to wait over 40 minutes each time to be moved to the treatment room. Then we had to wait longer in the treatment room... We explained to the receptionist and office manager that my wife has several conditions including cancer that causes her to tire quickly. We explained that all of our other medical providers, have noted the need to expedite in her chart so that she doesn't become overly tired. We were told to get an early morning appointment so we wouldn't have to wait so long. The current appointment (fifth appointment 7/27/2022) was for 8:30AM and we waited 15 minutes after the appointment time and then left. We don't understand why you can't schedule your appointments so that they can be met on time. We came to Aspen Dental to get an upper plate replaced. We were told that we needed to geta 3 teeth capped among other things. Today was the fifth appointment to get the teeth capped. The first time the impression wasn't satisfactory, the second time an impression was taken, and temporary caps were put in after the impression. For the third appointment, those three temporary caps had to be replaced as they all came off and another impression was taken. The fourth appointment, temporary caps were replaced with 3 permanent caps.... Between the fourth and fifth appointment (today's appointment) 2 of the permanent caps came off and one was lost. All four appointments were for the same three teeth and today we're left with one capped tooth, two teeth with no cap... and we still haven't started on the reason why we came to Aspen Dental... to replace my wife's upper plate. I certainly hope we won't be charged for 3 of the visits to accomplish just one set of procedures that should have only taken 2 visits. read more

I'm one of those rare people who look forward to my 6 month check up with the dentist. Changes in insurance meant that I had to go on the hunt for someone in network earlier this year. Weekends are at a premium for me. So, I wasn't trying to schedule right away. I called aspen and explained my schedule request. They were able to accommodate me on a Saturday morning in about 6 weeks. Perfect. The Tuesday before my appointment I received an automated reminder call. It was already plugged into my Google calendar, but I still appreciated the gesture. Saturday morning, I arrived for my 9am cleaning to a locked door and a darkened building. Mine was the only car in the parking lot. I was a few minutes early and wondered if perhaps they opened precisely on time. So I sat in the car for a few minutes, expecting to see someone come unlock the door at any moment. 20 minutes later, I'm still alone in the parking lot. I called a few times and got voicemail. The message said they were closed. Well how could that be? I have an appointment today. Your autobot called me to confirm just a few days ago! Not sure how the actual service is, but this is not likely to be my new dental office. Remember how I said that weekends were at a premium for me? I'm leaving this review about Dr. Chen, he is either incompetent or just trying to pad the bill. Most likely both. I have used Aspen for Five years and alway had good care. They made and upper denture and a partial for me and I was happy with their work and care. After a few years the anchor tooth on one side of my partial needed to be remove and a tooth added to the partial It was done with no problem. This last visit, the other side of my mouth the anchor tooth had broken. An extraction was required and a tooth needed to be added to the partial. Dr. Chan examined me and said I had an infection and I would have to be treated before he could extract me tooth. He sent me off to the treatment planner (billing). There I was told Dr. Chan was referring me to an oral surgeon with a charge of $500. I said I didn't require that the last time and it was exactly the same procedure. I wasn't sure l wanted to do it, so I said I'd think on it. Next day, decide to go with Dr. Chan's advice and made an appointment with him. At the start of my appointment I asked Dr. Chen why he was referring me to a surgeon(he never discussed it with me). His reply was, it's my call. I said I realized that, I simply want to know why. He was visibly irked, and said it wasn't able to do it himself safely. I said ok, that's all you need to say to begin with. I will go with the oral surgeon. They we began discussing the partial and he refused to add the tooth to it and said I required a whole new partial. I said it was done on the other side, I didn't need a whole new partial. He said I refuse to do it. I told him he was a total Asshole and I left. Made an appointment with DentalWorks just down the street from Aspen. They extracted the tooth and fixed the partial. No oral surgeon required and the cost was reasonable. Don't go to Aspen, Dr Chan is incompetent and he's an Asshole and will try to rip you off. read more

Worst! I read the reviews and they're all correct. Manager is the WORST, unprofessional, no empathy at all. When a call was forwarded to her and she told me that looks like I dont want to pay my bills (sooo mean, I just need an explanation of my bills, wtf we have 2 dental insurance and working couple who pay bills on time for her information )--. its really disgusting to heard that from a manager. This was my first visit to Aspen Dental. I moved from out of state and needed to find a dentist close. I would 10/10 recommend Aspen Dental. All of the staff was professional and polite. Today 10.15.2021 Had a appointment for a cleaning, which was rescheduled from 10.11.2021 due to the Hygienist not being physically able to come to work due to her activities over the weekend. I arrived late by 10+mins due to weather conditions. After driving over 30mins was turned away and told by the Hygienist that I would run into her next appointment whom she spoke with personally last night and I could not be seen! I really wished I had read these reviews before I dealt with the Mayfield Aspen dental. Getting an appointments was very hard and when I change my work schedule and get there sometimes I can't get the work done that my appointment was for. I was charged double for some work I had done and had to pay out of poket a lot because of this. My insurance called with me on the line and said the coding was wrong for the temporary work that was done before the permanent completion. If it was coded correctly my out of pocket would not have been so high. The process was changed from my first visit because of the damage to the tooth. I was in horrible pain with the temporary work and now that the permanent is done I am still in pain. When my insurance called with me on the line I felt even worse because they were rude and it is evident this is a common practice. Don't know what to do about this horrible work now. read more

The front receptionist was terrible towards me. I came in on Oct 28th around 11:30am. I needed to make an appointment, she was already on phone; she had me take a seat-ok no prob...afterwards she finished her called, grabbed a sheet of paper began to make another call, finished that one and picked up another phone call to schedule an appointment. I just started going to Aspen Dental because of job insurance change. I had severe pain in one spot and also a tooth that had cracked due to an old filling. I needed a root canal and two crowns. August 2018 I had dental work done at this location. At that time a complete breakdown was done showing my co pay after my dental insurance benefit cost. I just received another bill for $ 451.50, after speaking to an office assistant I was told that procedure was left off my original bill in 2018. It's been 2 years, no call from them to explain the charge just a bill in the mail. I'm the one that had to make all the calls ( more than one) to get an explanation. They actually refused to clean my teeth after my initial appointment because I refused an extra gum cleaning for good reason since I am pregnant--and of course this is an upcharge not covered by insurance. After speaking with the doctor, he said it was absolutely OK to get the cleaning--but then the hygienist refused and stated "it jeopardized her license". Aspen dental gets zero stars. Worst experience that I have ever had in my life. Dr. Navid was very professional during my procedure however afterwards I felt very rushed. I had questions that were never answered plus I was in a lot of pain and I wasn't suppose to be. I had gotten a root canal three minutes or so after my procedure I told the staff I needed to talk to the dr because it felt like my filling was moving around in my mouth and I was in pain even though I was numb. They stated the Dr had already left. It wasn't even 5 mins from my procedure, and he was already gone. I was in so much pain the whole weekend. I call the dental office that Monday to let them know my pain continued, and they got me in that following day. When I got in Dr chan told me that my tooth was cracked and stated that it was my fault, and that I had to get a tooth extraction. This all happened within a three day time period.They didn't take fault in anything they blamed everything on me, but my tooth was fine before the procedure. They even refunded me my money to dental first and wasn't suppose to send a claim to my insurance company. So they basically was saying it was their fault without saying it was their fault. To continue, they still billed my insurance company, and when I called to speak to the office manager he has not returned my calls so my insurance company had to reach out to them. Please do not ever use this practice. While the dental hygienist here is wonderful, everything else is terrible. We provided a new number to the practice over a year ago. At our current appointment time they apparently contacted our old number that we had asked to be deleted. When we arrived we were told we had missed our appointment and the hygienist wasn't there because we didn't confirm from their text messages. They were texting the number we asked to be deleted (we've had other appointments where they used the correct number). They lied and said they had called the other number but there are no missed calls or texts there. Instead of apologizing the manager told us it was our fault and was incredibly rude. We had issues in the past but because the hygienist was so nice we stayed. Never again. Mistakes happen but the way they don't care at all about their patients is disgusting. My,OH My, I only wish that I would have known about Yelp so that I could have read the various reviews about Aspen Dentistry before I went for an appointment with them. I was given so many different prices, felt as if I was redlined and targeted. I went there with the best of intentions and that was to first of all use my Cobra dental insurance which was about to expire. After the having X-rays and seeing the Dentist I was taken into a room with and that is where all hell broke lose. Based on her telling me that my Cobra Dental coverage would cover $3,000 and the various discounts she could fit me into I would still owe almost $3,000. I was told not too worry because there was a couple of financial institutions that they use and she was confident that I would qualify for one of them. Once approved for Supplemental Patient Insurance for $3,000 I was told that if I could wait until the person that does the impressions that they could my left tooth impression before I leave. I had only sat for no longer than ten minutes when out comes the young lady stating that the account manager needed to meet with me so, I went back into the room again and that is when all hell broke lose. The account manager stated that the information that I had been quoted was wrong and that I could not get the back tooth done except for pulling it and I would have to wait until my new insurance coverage kicked in and that the cost for that tooth being extracted and a replacement put in would cost $1,100. To say the least I was stunned, I was already overwhelmed with the cost they had given me. I left there office in a total daze however once arriving home and settled down I decided to call my dental insurance Only to discover that not did they not qualify me for $3,000 that my benefit amount was ONLY $750.00 in it's totality and that I could not carry over the un-used amount from the previous year. I immediately took a serious look at the papers that they had given me and called them back. The account manager tried to pretend that she didn't know what I was talking and that she had no ideal that amount was incorrect. There was no concern about her ONLY intent was to get me started. I am so discussed with these people and I would NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. IF YOU DO GO TO THEM BE SURE AND CALL YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY FOR YOURSELF AND GET ALL OF THE INFORMATION NEEDED BEFORE MAKING YOUR DECISION. I canceled the approved financing of the $3,000 which Thank God I had not used any of it and I cancelled all scheduled appointments with them!!. The ONLY conversation she wanted to have was me to keep my appointments and not to worry about that part of the coverage. WOW!
