At inspection time, Brian called ahead to make sure I was available. He not only completed the inspection, but cleaned the glass, vacuumed the logs, and checked the tubing, switches and ignition. Very meticulous. Brian had some very good recommendations going forward. Highly recommend!

And trust me, from leaky toilets and faucets, patches in a roof, constant yardwork, etc . - owning a home means always having to fix or maintain something. I didn't really use the gas fireplace this past winter, mainly because the season was fairly mild, and also because when I went to use it in November 2021, there was a problem with getting the unit to start. So after budgeting for it, I contacted Bryan at NOVA Fire Design for inspection and service. Bryan was very responsive and after my initial inquiry and he returned my phone call the same day. NOVA Fire Design (as of this review) charges a straight $199 for the visit and service + additional charges for parts if repairs are needed. Having contacted three other vendors who are in this field, NOVA Fire Design was the most reasonable. On the appointed day, Bryan showed up on time and made sure to lay down a blanket so as to not scratch up the floors and to catch any dirt and debris. Upon his inspection, he discovered that one of the gas lines was a bit clogged so he cleared it out, also found out the problem with the battery back-up ignition system, cleaned the and reset the logs, and even shined up the glass. One of my neighbors indicated that I "could've" done all of this myself by watching a few YouTube videos...which is technically true. However, when it comes to anything gas and something which could potentially burn my house down, I'll stick with a professional who knows what they're doing - and Bryan certainly does. NOVA fire design is a full service master technicians in this field who have expertise in whole house piping, Gas line installation, Gas Fireplace installs, Gas fireplace repair, Gas fireplace service, Gas Grill lines, Fire Pits, Individual Appliance lines, Framing, Drywall repair, Fireplace Stone Refacing, remove gas lines to convert back to wood burning. And very handy that when I needed to pay the bill, Byran accepts, cash, check, or credit cards. If you need your fireplace serviced or are thinking about installing one, NOVA Fire Design is a great local company to support.

I had to wait over two weeks for an appointment, but when the day finally came the team came within the appointment window (towards the end, but with a few minutes to space). I asked for them to sweep the chimney and provide an estimate to have the wood stove insert removed and our fireplace converted to a standard fireplace. The sweep probably knows what he's talking about and what he sees, but after a few minutes he described in a disjointed manner all of the potential problems with a brick chimney. He was not able to convey exactly the state of my chimney nor able to show me photos of the current state. It felt like someone trying to dance around showing what is really going on with the plan to upsell loads of work, whether necessary or not. After an hour or so he said he would get me an estimate by the end of the day. The estimate arrived, it did not include the one thing I had asked for, the price to remove the insert and convert it to a standard fireplace. It did include $20k worth of major work that I have no idea is founded or excessive. In the end, I don't even know if they swept the chimney, I have a sneaking suspicion they did not. I did not receive an invoice nor receipt for a sweep, which was the primary visit for the service call. Maybe we need that work, I truly cannot say that I have any confidence in their assessment nor appetite for that scale of work without better communication and evidence.

It's 20 years old and we had never serviced it in the 12-14 years we have lived there. I looked at a lot of different companies before booking with Wammoth Services, and I still didn't know what to expect when they arrived. The Hearth Specialist, Bill, took his time cleaning all the years of soot off the fireplace glass, realigning logs and cleaning up inside of, and underneath the hearth. I was so impressed by his thoroughness and his willingness to explain, so much so that I would be more informed enough to even mention realigning logs. Bill confirmed that even with just the pilot light on, the fireplace was so dirty it was putting off carbon monoxide. He cleaned it so well and it's such a relief. If you don't even know the last time you cleaned your fireplace, do it! I'd you want it done by a reputable and great company, use Wammoth Services. I am really glad that I did. Never thought I would be showing off a 20 year old fireplace, but just take a look at the pic!

Our gas fireplace was not working (igniter sparking but couldn't light the pilot). So basically $350 minimum but not knowing if it was going to be more expensive. I went ahead and booked them since we hadn't really cleaned/serviced our unit in at least 10-15 years. They did a phenomenal job cleaning the unit and the repair ended up being included in the service cost. Highly recommend this company.

We hired First Response Chimney for several big jobs on our 1901 farmhouse and guest cottage, and I…read morecan't recommend them highly enough. The main project was installing a new Blaze King wood stove, including a new chimney crown and relining the chimney with an insulated stainless steel liner. They also repointed and repaired the cottage chimney, relined it for a woodstove, and repointed the main house chimney. With a wood stove or fireplace, the peace of mind is everything. I never had a single doubt that the work was done safely and to code, and that's worth a lot when it's your home on the line. From start to finish they were extremely professional, reliable, and clearly knew exactly what they were doing. They also went above and beyond on the logistics. The cottage work was tricky to schedule because we had Airbnb guests booked that we couldn't cancel, and they worked around our calendar completely. They even cleaned up mid-job so the space was guest-ready at check-in. At one point the cleaners they'd lined up bailed, and the owner, William, himself drove out on a Saturday morning to handle it personally and did an incredibly thorough job. The repointing deserves special mention. A previous owner had carelessly patched the historic chimney with Portland cement, which is the wrong material for an old home. First Response ground it all out and redid it in lime mortar, matching the original and restoring it the period-appropriate way. It looks like it should- like it was never touched. And they fully cleaned up after every job.

The workers themselves were professional and presented themselves as such. They went above and beyond to make sure the linear I purchased was insulated and securely fastened. I know I can sleep well at night knowing my family is safe and warm now!! Thank you First Response!!!
