Best breakfast I've had in awhile! Iced coffee was amazing, loved the flavor! I went out of my comfort zone and had breakfast tacos - they were amazing! Huge, I could have eaten one or two and been fine, but I managed to eat all three just fine LOL. Lots of filling, lots of flavor, and it's a small thing but they were in a stand up holder, which makes a big difference in a dish this messy, if they were just on the plate it would have been much harder to eat neatly. I've been to Nellie Rose a couple of times, always on a weekend. The wait is substantial on weekends as expected and the space is pretty small. The service is hit or miss, on my first visit the staff skipped over my party and we had to wait longer for a table but we ended up having a super sweet server which lessened our irritation. The food is good, not the best breakfast I've ever had, but good. The eggs could use a bit more seasoning but I love how they offer tater tots and corn bread on their menu. I love this place. Besides the usual breakfast items this place has lots of upscale versions of eggs benedict including a really fine crabcake version. Pancakes are gigantic. I am a big guy and I could only eat 1 1/2 of them. They bake their own pastries in house which are very good. The lunch menu is equally good with great sandwiches salads and soups. I just wish they served dinner too. Oh, and the waitresses are really adorable and attentive without hovering. I don't know how much better this place could be than it is right now. I came here with my mom, nana and boyfriend on a very busy Saturday morning. It was my first time and I was so pleased with absolutely everything. My nana is somewhat of a picky eater in her old age, but the wait staff treated her with nothing but kindness and she said it was the best breakfast she had ever had. I don't know what they do to their french toast, but it is divine and might well have solved my savory v sweet turmoil that I go through at every breakfast place! Hmm, but then their hash is cooked from scratch i.e. it doesn't come from a can and is wonderfully seasoned and presented...so maybe my turmoil isn't ever going to be over. Another nice touch is that you get to sample a few chunks of donut from the glorious looking pastry case. That nice little trick had my mom spending $10 on pastries for the ride back home! Keep doing what you're doing there and you guys will always be my first choice for a good breakfast this side of Boston. read more

This is your standard breakfast restaurant. The food is good. Nothing amazing but good food good price. My BF got the scrambled eggs tacos and really enjoyed them. I got the Irish Benedict and it was good. They give you a small bowl of cut up pieces of their in house made donuts and muffins. Being from Vermont I've been consistently underwhelmed by the food scene in Massachusetts. This place was a pleasant surprise. Had a hot tea in front of me in under a minute. AMAZING locally baked, thick-cut sourdough bread that was served to me hot for the first time in my life. I've been waking up screaming for it since. I got the Greek omelette, which was both delicious and huge. Was able to get a second meal out of it, which was just as good the next day. I'm a bit of a homefry snob and these were great- crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Really liked the wide selection of toast and soups. Owner was super friendly with everyone. Super friendly service. Love the little dish of muffin samples they greet you with. Usually come for weekday lunch, so review is focused mostly on that. I've tried every panini on the menu and each has has been stellar! Love the Hammy over Miami in particular. Smothered in oniony goodness and made with quality ham. Do yourself a favor and get their fried waffle chips with your sandwich - so good! I have tried the RT 18 breakfast sandwich with their house-made corned beef hash - which is a must if you like hash. Not too greasy, not too dry - just delicious. My only warning would be that they do NOT do lunch on weekends, so you need to go on a weekday if you want one of those delicious paninis and waffle chips. read more

Very cute place! The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was just ok. I got bacon eggs and hash browns. I usually go basic at a new place to see what I think. I asked for my bacon well done and crispy. It wasn't even close to that doneness and my hash browns could've been cooked a little longer too. Our food came out really quick, almost too quick. I think if they put a little more effort into the food this cute place could be a 5 star restaurant. I'm rooting for them! read more

The service here is horrible today. As I sit here and write this. We was told it be a 15 min wait which turn out to be more like 30 min wait. After we got seated it took another 5 mins for them to come and give us coffee and she walked away. We had to unfortunately flag down a waitress for her to come over and take our order. I would assume it's because we where placed all the way in the back while there are still open tables in the main dinner room floor. They might have forgotten they had customer sitting over the the far back room wanting to eat breakfast also. read more

Update 3/13/16 - 2nd visit - just as good as the first. Had Irish Benedict which is 2 perfectly poached eggs on top of the home made corned beef hash with hollandaise sauce. Normally it comes on an English muffin but I got it on top of grilled corn bread. Also had a heaping portion of wonderful hashbrowns. The only problem is that I wanted to eat it all but it was just too much food! I will be back! Just returned from our first visit to Nellie Rose for breakfast and it was awesome. We love breakfast and we had just about given up in finding a great breakfast anymore and along comes this place. The homemade corned beef hash was the best I've ever had and I've had it everywhere. It is shreds of real corned beef with potatoes. No onions or peppers or other unnecessary add-ins to spoil it. Not salty either, just delicious with 2 over easy eggs on top. Hash browns were shreds of potatoes browned lightly. Not greasy or deep fried, just pure potato goodness. Meal included a buttery grilled piece of corn bread which was awesome as well. Husband had eggs, bacon, corn bread and home fries. The home fries could have been hotter but the bacon was very good, not over cooked or greasy or too thin which is what you get at so many places. Saw meals going by that included eggs Benedict over hash and omelettes and all looked good. To top it all off, they take credit cards (yay!) unlike too many breakfast places that are cash only. Mondays are breakfast date day for my boyfriend and i . We always go to Nellie Rose the wait staff is is always super friendly and the food is always good . The sourdough toast is my favorite . Coffee is good , the only down side is they don't offer skim milk or non dairy substitutes they only have whole milk or cream for coffee understandable though. I recommend this place to everyone . And the sample dishes they give you when your first seated are the best . read more

We were driving through Whitman and looked up local breakfast places. Found this by mistake. Happened to be their grand opening. Fast seating and prompt service. We were greeted with menu's and a small bowl of broken up pieces of muffins and donuts for sampling. Horrible appearance, bad idea. Did not touch it as it was very unappealing. Because it was the grand opening we were offered a choice of 2 donut flavors for free. 1 blueberry donut was brought for table and we did sample it. Overly sweet and tasted like bad boxed mix. Music a little loud. Open and airy. I had eggs florentine. Yolks were overcooked and whites very undercooked....how does that happen?? Home fries lacked in flavor. Nice presentation but they need a new cook if they plan on staying around. My daughter had an omelette which was underwhelming and had a very small portion of has browns on the plate vs the heaping on mine. I won't visit again for a while hoping they have the chance to work on a new cook but I will visit as I have been pleasantly surprised in the past when I've given a second shot. We stopped into Nellie Rose for the first time. The host and waitress were very friendly and helpful. I had two eggs (scrambled), corned beef hash, hash browns and cornbread. The homemade corned beef hash was great. Real corned beef not too salty. While my wife's hash browns were cooked just right, my hash browns were overcooked shreds of potato - envision eating raw pasta...that is how overly crunchy they were. I would recommend more consistency in the kitchen. The grilled piece of corn bread was a nice touch. My kids got the children's order of pancakes, which were very good. My wife said her Greek omelet was one of the better ones she has had. I would recommend Nellie Rose. read more
