First time I went i got the Hungry trucker is pretty good and worth the price you get a lot of food.

We were coming home pretty late at night through a rain storm and decided to stop for a bite and to let the storm pass by. It was pretty dead. Maybe one or two other tables and whatever was going on in the back "truckers" room. We had decent service and the food came out quickly. I think sometimes when you're in a place and it's that dead, sometimes the servers get busy cleaning and doing other things, but we didn't really need a lot of attention so it worked out. The food was good. Pretty standard for that type of restaurant that serves breakfast all day. read more

Update, Nelles has started to slip , can't find a cook for mondays or Tuesday nights. Closes at 4 pm now, what a damned shame it's good food at a decent price. This is gonna have a negative effect on future visits from me . I remember when this place was old run down , bathrooms smelled to high heaven and weren't very clean. We ate here this past Saturday and the food was not very good. It had no taste and about an hour later I got some serious upset stomach. The waitress, Miranda, was great and kept our cups full of drinks along with being so nice. It wasn't her fault the cook could use some training. The bathrooms were not very clean. Not worth the stop and don't know where to begin. We were sitting at our table for over 10 minutes before even acknowledged by a server and it was not busy. Newly built. Food was just ok. A little pricey. BUT took 45 minutes to get it. Only three ppl at tables. Soup was empty as well as 1/2 salad bar. Waitress was extremely young and RUDE. After we ate found out she was very sick with "maybe food poisoning". (Or something else???) and yes serving food. Said manager made her come in. Place needs decorating, it's sterile. But did I say. Our visit was not a good experience. Needs a manager. . . Insufficient staff. Looked like only three waitresses. And inexperienced at that. People sitting next to us left . They waited a half hour. Thinking freshly fried chicken. When waitress questioned. Where is meal? Waitress stated one of the other waitress gave to someone else... I asked three times what flavour pies. "I HAVE to look." I had heard good things about this truck stop restaurant which is pretty typical for truck stop food. I find they are usually pretty good. Tonight I found the exception to that rule. My wife and I went and she ordered the roast beef which came with green beans, a roll, mashed potatoes and a salad. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries. Of course, this being our first time here we had to sample each other's food. It was obvious that everything prepare for us was either frozen or of the instant variety. My wife's roast beef was not good at all. The mashed potatoes had an odd flavor and the gravy tasted very canned. The green beans were soggy and mushy. The roll tasted old. My burger was pretty small and again it was obvious that the burger and fries both were frozen and didn't very good. My food was at least edible though. My wife's had to be sent back. I was going to rate this restaurant as a one star, but I went with two strictly for the service of our waitress Donna and another young lady who helped us as well from time to time. Donna was friendly, efficient and very helpful. She did a great job. One small way I judge service is to see how well they keep my drink topped off. She did such a good job that I hadn't even noticed when she refilled me. Well done! As I was heading up to pay our bill, Donna and the other young waitress stopped us and told us they were going to take my wife's dinner off since she was unable to eat it. I thought it was very kind of them to offer to do so. First I liked the old Nelles better it was small and some ways very intimate but the new place feels like a big empty space with some tables and booths to try make it look full. This is the very unsuspecting restaurant, although next-door is a brand new brick building that they are going to reopen as their new restaurant. Currently it is still attached to the gas station and is definitely run down, deteriorated looking. I would say the grease and food stuck to the walls is unappealing, but they're brand new building next-door looks promising and I'm not licking the walls so I really don't care that much. I liked their little salad bar, and the clam chowder was pretty tasty. I did not try the vegetable soup. I asked how their menu worked as I did not see buffet as an option on the menu, but their menu is a basic breakfast lunch and dinner American diner menu. The server told me I could pick a sandwich and then the buffet would only be a few dollars up charge. I asked her to recommend the most popular sandwich. I did not at all like the recommended tenderloin sandwich. It tasted like nothing but flour and it was not fried long enough so not all of the flour was cooked all the way through, leaving a very pasty taste lingering. Disappointing, but the staff is pretty ornery which I enjoyed. It's definitely a small town diner but they could improve the tenderloin. And as always, this could have just been a fluke. Obviously if the server recommended it they must sell plenty of. As you can see from my picture, I took two bites and that was all. Thankfully the cup of soup and salad bar was enough. My lunch, less salad bar, was made fresh to order, my sandwich was piping hot and the french fries were steaming upon arrival. I did have a hard time tracking down my server to get some mustard, attempting to make the sandwich a little more edible, but after waiting about five minutes I finally stood up and found my own bottle of mustard. I guess I am just used to mustard always being on my table wherever I order a tenderloin, so I didn't think to ask for it at the time I ordered. No big deal, I could've stood up long before and gotten it myself, but I was enjoying my cup of coffee and the fact that I obviously stuck out like a sore thumb. The new look is awesome, therefore everyone wants a peice of the pie, literelly. It was very busy on Sunday lunch when we showed up to eat. The tables that were not full were not cleaned and it was a seat your self. It took a very long time to get service and a long time to get the food. They were way understaffed and the waitresses were wore out. Yet the folks kept coming. I ordered the hot beef commercial. It was pretty good and as the name suggests, the gravey was far from homemade. Over all the dinner was fair and much better then fast food. That however is not saying much. They over fed us! Not exactly a bad thing LOL. They have a great salad bar and great food with large portions for reasonable prices. We had a great waitress especially considering that it was Christmas day and fairly busy. Our daughters order got messed up they corrected it gave us credit for it and a free dessert. When we were leaving our motel, we asked for a recommendation for breakfast. They suggested we drive a little while to Dino's, but as we were leaving, we saw Nelle's and decided to take a chance. What a smart decision! I was able to get EXACTLY what I wanted...large plain oatmeal, hot, with honey and two medium eggs, as pretty as any I've ever seen and hot tea. He, on the other hand, was feeling frisky, and ordered the trucker's plate. Let's just say that when he staggered out, I asked the waitress if anyone ever orders "half a trucker special" and she said "they trah!" True story. Pull off and try one yourself. Bring the kids. Bring friends. But, be sure to being your empty belly. read more

1/4 " water on restroom floor. Bare attempt noticed on cleaning toilets. Inside of bowl not clean. Toilet bowl cleaner used on top of the seat, instead of in it. Residue not wiped off good. Had to wipe it off first, otherwise you could have chemical burns on your bottom. Seriously.... Towels lying on open front of broken towel machine. Not separately, one continuous roll, hard to rip just one off to dry your hands. Front of restaurant sad looking, very worn, not well kept. No restocking of materials for sale here. Looks more like a clearance with regular prices. Table tops are being cleaned. Wait staff efficient, here for a job. Salad bar area in front near order window. Locals... Smoking room in back, it's a shame; the odor spills over to the non-smoking areas. 2 eggs, OM, american fries and rye toast, $4.99. They did my eggs OE, white a bit runny, American fries good. We stopped here for a bite to eat on the way home from Iowa and we'll definitely skip it in the future. Service was slow, food was bland and over-cooked and the place smelled of cigarette smoke. When we went to check out, there was nobody at the register, so we waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. We finally got sick of waiting and pulled out some cash and tucked it with the bill under the edge of the register. There was some other poor slob waiting there even longer and he was griping bitterly about how the place had gone down the tubes. I would advise avoiding Nelle's like the plague. read more

The new building is a huge improvement from the old one. Food seems to be much improved as well. Great place for a chicken basket basket and French fries or breakfast food after the bar. If you're driving through then don't be afraid to get some food here while in Cameron. read more

I waited at the counter for a waitress and one never came over, they just ran back and forth around me and one of them wouldn't even l at me, extremely rude and unprofessional, I was so disappointed. The owner texted me and it didn't seem to affect her at all that I wasn't waited on and had a bad experience there. It was horrible. read more

Went there for lunch. Got the loaded tots which were supposed to have queso cheese on them, when it came out it was nacho cheese and way too much of it. I didn't eat hardly any. When we told our waitress, she offered to get me something else, but we didn't have time to wait. Charged us full price even though my meal was hardly edible. The person that I was with got Catfish nuggets and it was some sort of frozen fish, not real catfish. We won't be back. read more

Some truck stops have the BEST food EVER & this is one of those finds that you won't be disappointed about stopping at. Locally we were referred here for lunch after our hour long yoga class so by this time we were STARVED. When driving up on this truck stop Jones.. you wouldn't expect for the restaurant to be located inside along with a gift shop where you can find Chocolate Wine (which we purchased) or their homemade Molasses. It truly reminded me of home & I grew up in a VERY small country town SE of Springfield so this was perfect to me! Waitress: Sweet, down to earth & very attentive.. Style of Restaurant: Country decor, 50's style (floor, tables, etc) I myself ordered the Jonzze which is two biscuits, eggs however you like (over-easy for me), cheese & sausage SMOTHERED in sausage gravy. Oh my gosh, it was a match made in heaven for me. My husband & step dad ordered the the philly cheese cheeseburger w/fries.. they had no complaints other than it was good & greasy. My mother ordered eggs, hashbrowns & toast sauteed w/green peppers, onions & with cheese doused over the entire meal. She was THOROUGHLY pleased. After eating we browsed around the gift shop which was filled with lots of little trinkets & knic knacs rendering hillbilly humor which we all enjoyed. You can purchase their homemade candles, wine, chocolates/dried fruits, or molasses. One complaint: We didn't get to meet MOJO! :( Portions: Gigantic!!!! You're not allowed to share plates though unfortunately. Ate there today, 3 adults, and 3 kids, 5, 7, and 9. They ate off kid's menu and had water to drink. I ordered the hamburger steak. Daughter ordered pot roast, and her BF ordered another entree. We had soft drinks. One person had brought us our drinks, but she could not take the order. So we waited, and waited. They were busy, so didn't that so much, but after we ordered, she brought us rolls...and after another long wait, brought out our salads. After another long wait, came out with kid's meals. Kids were pretty well finished by time we got our food. And finally our entrees. I had baked potato for side dish, it was barely warm even in the deepest portion of it. Corn was very hot, and tasteless. Hamburger steak was lackluster at best. For something that was supposed to be 100% beef? Sure looked like a frozen soybean patty, and tasted like it too. Daughter's meal of pot roast was less than amazing, said it might have been all right if they had seasoned it any at all. The dinner rolls were long cold by time we got our meal, and they weren't that warm to begin with, very tough, and crust was like chewing beef jerky. 51 dollars for a meal that wasn't worth 5 dollars. And judging by the money they save on seasoning anything? Should not be charging what they do. A woman outside had pulled up and asked me if the food was good, I showed her the box of food had taken to give to dogs from my plate. And told her how horrible it all was. Quick stop off the road trip. Nice, laid back, good food. The French Toast was good - not the "beat I've ever had" but good - let you add the powdered sugar & butter to your own taste & provided plenty of syrup without you asking. I really liked the cheesesteak as well. Dad liked the patty melt better, mom preferred the cheesesteak. Mom & I liked the "beer battered" type fries a lot - good & crunchy. Dad prefers regular. Stopped in for early supper. Ordered tea to start- they didn't even have Splenda (yellow packets) and the waitress acted like she never heard of it. Got fish and chips- no silverware and I had to get that as well as ketchup from her from the back. The cod was cooked fine and looked good, but there was no seasoning/taste-very bland. My family was in from out of town for Father's Day, we went here after church knowing of all the restaurants in town, this one would be least busy (that tells you something). I called an hour before to give them a warning that there would be 14 of us. They actually didn't promise much but we showed up to a "half full" restaurant. When asked where we could sit we were rudely answered to fit in somewhere, no guarantees. When we set tables we were ignored! Refused to be served. When one waitress brought drinks, after a 30+ minute wait we were told our orders would be even later? I've never met waitress so rude. We left and went to another restaurant that was happy to have us, Washington Street. Our bill was $300 and the tip left was well over $45!!! read more

We are here visiting family from out of state and came here as a family of 16 and waited over 10 minutes just to give our drink order...20 to 30 minutes and nobody took our food order...wait staff was rude. I enjoyed my dinner there. My meal came with a side salad which not only was good, was enough for three people. The food came quickly and was hot, fresh and very good. The server was a great gal and was very friendly and although young, has customer service down to a T. I splurged on dessert and the Counterpoint Cale was moist and tastes homemade as did the vanilla buttercream frosting. Sorry I wasn't there long enough for more meals! It didn't feel like a truck stop, more like a good home town place. read more
