Neimans continues to be 1 of my fav places to visit Not only have I discovered they carry Mackenzie-Childs ( & I'm a *huge* fan of the checkerboard! ) but I'm also discovering new designers that totally hit my heart Charlotte Olympia is just such a designer - I'm totally loving her kitty flats & I couldn't help but indulge in her whimsical lobster sandals.....perfect for my next B-52s concert! :-) I've also found some adorable Jimmy Choos & Louboutins that found their way into my heart And I'd also like to point out that they have a very nice selection of Jimmy Choos for Men & while the actual Jimmy Choo store across the street doesn't carry men's shoes, Neimans will totally hook your Mr up Also had the good fortune of discovering Carolina Herrera, Halston, Valentino & this is just on my side..... The Mr has also discovered some lovely Etro, Isaia, & Tom Ford apparel we couldn't live without & taking his fashion comfort zone & pumping it up a notch has got to score extra brownie points in anyone's book We've never experienced anything but above-par, royal treatment no matter which department & no matter what state of dress the Mr & I are enjoying. Neiman Marcus - Rock Lobster! - Department Stores Near Me - San Francisco, California

I recently left a review for the PA location. Soon after my review I heard from my NM rep at the SF store so I thought it only fair that I review this location as well. My NM rep @ the Shoe Salon is Todd and he's wonderful! He sent me a text a few days before Memorial Day weekend to alert me of their upcoming Pre-Sale. Which basically means they have sale items out but not advertised to the public AND if you decide to purchase any Pre-Sale items, you aren't allowed to bring them home yet. The official sale begins a few days later and this is when you can pick up your purchases. Back to Todd - I let him know that I'd definitely be coming in that weekend to check out the glorious Pre-Sale. That Saturday afternoon they were jam packed!! The entire NM store was busy but the Shoe Salon was beyond ridiculous. Just imagine dozens of ruthless women fighting for couture! I was lucky and found a spot to sit down and try on my shoes. To my surprise, Todd pulled some items ahead of time for me to check out. None of the shoes he picked for me were out on the floor so I had 1st dibs! =) I had 7 pairs of pretty heels waiting for me when I sat down. Talk about great customer service! After trying on about a dozen pairs I decided to take 2 pairs - Louboutin and Fendi heels. I gave my NM card (which doesn't get charged until the true sale begins but they need it to 'hold' the items). Soon after I left, I sent Todd a text because I was so restless about 2 other pairs I tried on so I asked him to 'hold' those for me too. The following afternoon, Todd alerted me of a Louboutin Gold Glitter Silngback that arrived in my size!! I asked him to send a photo and I couldn't stop staring at the pic. I was determined to return to NM (for the 2nd time in 1 weekend) to try on these beauties. My final decision - 3 pairs of Fendi shoes and 1 pair of Louboutins. ALL ON SALE. =D True, I still spent a good chunk of change but it was all worth it. I usually buy these shoes at full price so when there's a chance to get any type of discount on these brands I jump on it! This review is long overdue from the Christmas season. Huge and beautiful store with a big selection. Like most stores in downtown SF the architecture screams amazing! For the most part the sales associates were nice. Ivan, the Product Specialist for Armani Cosmetics was so sweet to help me out in Shu Uemura, some other cosmetic guy kept passing by me without stopping to check on me. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. He also did a mini makeover with the Armani line for me after I told him that I was curious about their foundation. Stephanie in Louis Vuitton was also very informative and patient with me. Mr. Whoever You Are in Men's Furnishing's...I know my bf has a round face and it may be hard for him to fit some shades, but you don't need to tell him that the shades he was trying on and liked don't fit his face at all with a huge freakin tude! Other than that, most of the sales associates in the departments I visited greeted me and were attentive to customers. Even if you don't have the money to spend at Neiman's it's always nice to come in and browse. read more

Hands down the best shoe salon. Customer service was superb. The moment I asked for a pair of this and a pair of that to try on, my shoes salesman immediately proceeded to the stock room without any hesitation. He was knowledgeable, informative, and helpful in every aspect of sales showmanship. We were offered water as well. I love the fact that the Neiman Marcus building is absolutely stunning. Nothing beats trying on a pair of Louboutins at the Rotunda (but the Miu Mius won in the end). Help the economy and support your local Neiman Marcus. read more

This is a great store...you can *fondle* many of the items you see in magazines...and then some. I was surprised at how approachable the staff was...not much room for snobbery in this economy!! Many brands were a quantum leap from generic ready made...fabric and workmanship were simply delicious. You really can't listen to people. People told me that Parisians were rude & obnoxious. But when I went to Paris, I didn't experience that at all. Everyone was very nice, even if I couldn't understand every word that they said. People always said that New Yorkers were rude & obnoxious. Then, I moved to Manhattan, & I didn't find that to be true. At all. Sigh. So, it really is no surprise that despite the reputation Neiman's has for being...uppity...it really isn't. I love coming here. You just voice or show interest in a brand or a product, & they are at the ready. Informed, personable, & professional. The only negative is that sometimes an associate for one brand is MIA, & you end up in the hands of another associate that works for a different brand. But, this can turn out to be a good thing, like it was for me on my last visit. The Creed counter was being handled by the lad that actually works for the Chantecaille counter. He turned out to be a total prince. I know some departments are on the smaller side, so the selection might not be the best. And a lot of said departments have their own boutiques in the very immediate area (Chanel & LV are both across the street). But the shoe department is still always a good hit. There's the added bonus that if you get tuckered out from all this primo shopping, you can just saunter up to The Rotunda, nosh on popovers w strawberry butter, or do afternoon tea, & then resume pampering yourself. You do deserve it. And they do make a mean chocolate chip cookie. The recipe is actually famous. I was lucky enough to have a holiday tin of them delivered to my door for Christmas, & now I'm sure it will be a new tradition to have a tin of NM chocolate chip cookies in the house every Christmas to come. 4 stars. read more

Neiman Marcus holds a very special place in my heart since it was the very first department store I bought my first pair of designer heels, and first time I ever felt "good" about making a purchase. THE SERVICE- The service at the Neiman Marcus' store is always the best; this is the first store I go into before I check out Saks or Bloomies because the service is just divine. I won't take out the bad experiences I've had on their website though, because I've never experienced a bad time at any Neiman Marcus. Thank goodness that the preservationists were able to save the City of Paris dome and rotunda from the wrecking ball. Neiman Marcus had to build their modern store around them and they did an excellent job--the store is beautiful. When the light is right it is possible to see the vintage architectural treasures without even going into the store. I like to come here at Christmas to admire the huge tree that soars towards the stained glass dome. A tree has been placed in the center of the rotunda every year since 1909. It has been a December tradition for people to come and admire the tree in the dome. If you're not interested in seeing the historical beauty of this building there is a lot of upscale merchandiser to tempt you to part with your money, "stuff" looks expensive to me, but in all honesty there was nothing I want here. read more

It's Black Friday and I am in Neiman Marcus searching for pineapple shaped shortbread cookies manufactured by Honolulu Cookie Company. Not being familiar with the layout of the store, I seemed lost trying to find what I needed. The store wasn't terribly crowded. The sales associates were wonderful and extremely courteous - top knotched customer service. I wasn't in my Sunday's best, but dressed very casual (Oaklandish hoodie, t-shirt, jeans and sneakers). Yet they were very helpful and they knew right away that I was somewhat lost in this department store. I got on the escalator to the 5th floor where all the gourmet goodies were. I couldn't find the product and I asked a sales associate to help me. He took me over to the area I was in and found a box of the cookies, but alas it wasn't quite what I had in mind to purchase. According to him, the cookies sell out fast and they're very popular. I was a little disappointed that they only had one box of the cookies left. I will return to Neiman Marcus at a later time to purchase the container of cookies and some Godiva dessert truffles. read more

This is not like any other Neiman Marcus. If you're in Union Square especially as a tourist at least walk in. The interior design is superb! I recommend at least going inside to check out the beautiful stained glass ceiling for a beautiful view. You can go in the upper levels to take photos. There is a brunch place called rotunda on the fourth of fifth floor that I would love to visit one day! They have lots of sales and great deals for high end brands. Neiman Marcus has everything you need on the mid-high end side of brands and this location is right in the center of SF downtown shopping area so it is always busy. I stopped by today to check out a few things in their Luis Vuitton micro-store and it was packed with customers. I was not looking for a bag and I feel the sales reps did not bother to help me given the potential commission they could make. I ended up going somewhere else for my purchase. This is a 2-part review: One for The Rotunda and Two for Fine Apparel, with Kyle Candler in the Burberry section. First off, my friend and I went to the Rotunda over the July 4th weekend for lunch and the prices were high and the food quality was not as expected. It was extremely disappointing and the server gave the broth soup and cracker, then was stingy to deliver the fresh popover and strawberry butter, and insisted on taking our order first. When we asked if hot water and lemon was complimentary, we got a weird look. It was just awkward. I have been to the Beverly Hills restaurant location and their service is different than San Francisco. It was just this one server because last time, it was excellent. As for Kyle Candler, he is BEYOND exceptional with helping me find fabulous pieces for my wardrobe. I was able to get Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Alice and Olivia, and Tom Ford pieces that incredibly gorgeous and will be investment pieces for life. I gave Kyle 10 stars. He is THE best stylist, fashion assistant, EVER. He made it fun to try on these clothes, was very patient when I tried on other pieces which I did not end up getting. Not only did she give me an excellent lesson on all things skin related, she transformed me with her superior makeup skills and got me photoshoot ready. She knew a ton about this relatively new line, named for the French word for craft, and explained exactly what she was doing every step of the way. Paraben, talc, fragrance and dye-free, the products really appealed to me and felt almost as if I had nothing on my face at all. I hit a snag at the till - Neiman Marcus only takes their own card, American Express or cash - but Cynthia offered to put the products on hold for me to pick up later since I was in a rush. I'm really looking forward to heading back for another makeup tutorial (smoky eyes, perhaps) with Cynthia. read more

My man and I were shopping in SF before our Vegas trip and decided to check out the shoes at Neiman Marcus. I glanced at some Valentino stud sandals I like, walked past the CL's and fell straight into lust over the Tom Ford selection they had. It was small but enough to get my feet wet. I tried on the patent leather pumps with ankle strap and padlock and I loved 'em. They are so classy and sexy. Since I still wanted another Tom Ford shoe... I told Todd the sales rep that was helping us to give us a few days to decide. I had to find the pair I wanted first. Gena from Tom Ford suggested I get the pumps from Neiman Marcus because they are sold out of that pump in black at every Tom Ford boutique so why not get them right? (Good sales pitch cause we bought another pair from Gena for being so sweet and honest!) Todd was super funny and nice and even said if I decided to get a different pair at the Tom Ford store instead I can always return them if unworn. I kept my pumps and I'll definitely come back to him if I need shoes from NM. Him seeing me wear a few of my CL's loved that i seem to always wear my designer shoes out and we both agreed it's better out then stuck in a closet! I also now love wearing my TF pumps! Their great with my skirt and pants suits at the office, I wore them out to the clubs in Vegas, and have paired them with jeans and a tank top. Great versatile pair of shoes and had a great time buying them from Todd. Of course the experience at the actual Tom Ford boutique is different and a little better.. But I'm thinking Neiman will have shoes in stock the Tom Ford boutique are already sold out in, and that's a great problem to have for NM! read more

Granted, you have to be a bit snooty to shop here. I could never afford the large ticket items here but I have purchased fragrance, moisturizer, and small goods from the men's department downstairs. The men's department actually gives great service with no attitude. The ladies on the other floors however, sometimes think they're higher than god. I remember going to the fur section just to have a look and this beeotch was giving some attitude because she snuffed out that I wasn't going to buy a damn thing from her. There is an air of snootiness in the cosmetics section but I have had an overall positive experience there. I guess because I was purchasing stuff at the time. I usually buy my moisturizing crème there on my annual pilgrimage. If you get onto a mailing list from a sales clerk in cosmetics, you are alerted to some sales and in-store promotions (like complimentary facials). read more

She's super educated in her brand and will woo you with her knowledge on blush. Woo! I wanted it. I got it. As like any BFF, she told me a little secret. There's going to be double points in October and it'll be a good time to rack up points. What's a girl to do, I just gotta have those points. So, like any good girl citizen, I came back and made a purchase during double points week. And I'm not done yet either! I still need to buy that perfect lipstick color and I know Jennifer will help me out with that! This place is the best place to shop for beauty products. Each brand has supremely knowledgeable and helpful staffing. I haven't met anyone who made "Pretty Woman's" self esteem go downhill due to the way she dresses. Okay, so this is soley of the horrible customer service that this place has. I came in here a few hours ago to look at the crazy giant tree and just check out the store, as there isn't a Neiman's in New York, but it was one of my accounts when I used to work for "the man". The holiday tree is impressive. It's huge and reaches almost to the celing of the store, which is about 6 stories high. That's where the fascination begins and ends. Because there are like, 10 people actually shopping the pricey clothes in here, a lot of employees are on their phones, tablets, or having deep conversations with each other. Others don't even bother looking up if they already saw you in their periphery. One man was super nice and showed me some fine jewelry (I like to shop the market and see what's out there) and gave me the background information on the maker (one of my favorites) and what it was made of. Other people left their counters when I approached or just walked away. I used to work retail, and in a sense I still do. Never ever judge a book by it's cover. I feel a lot of folks need retraining. I know the store isn't used to seeing people who look like me, but dang, it's 2017! I guess I'll just stick to looking at the catalog, as I can't imagine returning here any time soon. read more

It doesn't matter what designer it is, I just don't like the bigger frames that seem to be so popular lately." Don't give me a snide reply when you're the one who didn't understand the question: "Um...all the designers make sunglasses with small frames and large frames. There isn't a designer that just specializes small frames, mmkay?" I thought about putting you in your place. I really did. Then I decided that if it really makes you feel better to try to make potential customers feel stupid without realizing you're the one who looks like a jack@ss, well then...by all means. Nieman Marcus, your customer service training really needs to get its act together and actually train your sales reps about the importance of customer service. If you have the extra money to spend on designer clothing for little ones who will grow out of them really fast, then this is the place to go. =) But you can still score some fantastic deals when you come in during a sale. Seriously, you can get some really great designer kids clothing at Target prices if you're lucky. Pilar is our family sales associate. She'll call/email when a sale is approaching and reserve items for us when we can't get to the store before closing. Because of her, I can rate this department 5-stars. They even hold special activities for kids on some holidays. Easter was the last holiday we were there and they did a little Easter egg hunt, coloring activities, and yummy Neiman Marcus snacks while kids played and parents shopped. This is a great store, pretty much as good as it gets for a department store. Staff are always friendly and eager to assist you. They always have a wide selection of top merchandise. Also, there are many otems you will find here that arent in the botiques around Union Square. I have often found a muych better selection here of designer items then anywhere else. Prices really arent any higher than anywhjwre else. If you compare the iotems to the same items in other stores Neiman Marcus is competetive on this front. And if you get hungry while your shopping make sure to stop in at the Cafe on the ground floor or the Rotunda for a fabulous lunch! read more

I bought an $80 Surratt foundation at NM in Chicago...wrong color and not enough coverage...more to that story...anyway I went to return it..that was a no...what about exchanging it for a different color? The manager Lily said no and suggested I give it to someone else ...lol excuse me? She ended up letting me exchange the color but I'm still bothered by the experience. Love the customer service! With a baby, we were like flies in a maze, trying to figure out where to go and eagerly praying to settle down this litle angelic devil. Staff at the top executive floor kindly showed us the way to the basement lady's room where there's lounge to chill. During our stay, we were directed by many staff to where we would like to go, which definitely saves us time and energy. We finally ended up on the Customer Service floor with a hungry baby that needs to be fed. We were again, offered welcome and let us handled this little messy baby as we struggled to feed her. The staff also kindly chatted up with us when the baby settled down and I felt completely befriended and at ease. With this experience, I feel that the cle de peau product I bought was worth every penny in the store. read more

I am writing to inform you how distressed I am because of the most recent events that occurred on Saturday, August 16, 2019 at your Neiman Marcus store in San Francisco. Neiman Marcus has a history of racial profiling and paying out of court settlements for the pain and suffering they have caused their customers and employees. This type of illegal practice causes innocent customers to suffer racism needlessly, not for their actions, but due to how they look. What happened to me today at your store in San Francisco was not only embarrassing, humiliating, and very sad for me on a personal level....it is also very much illegal. The pain and suffering I have to go through each time I enter your SF store is a defamation of my character. I heard your employee In Loss Prevention (who refused to give me her full name) on the phone at the store actually targeting african american customers as they walked into your store not because of their suspicious behavior in the store but rather she was warning other employees about customers entering the store only because of their skin color, and based on nothing else! Loss Prevention wasn't aware that I could hear the conversation she was having on the phone with ......that works in men's accessories. My card was declined and LP walked to the back of the store and phoned .......regarding the transaction. Per LP she stopped the transaction because I wasn't an authorized user on the card. I had my CDL along with my Neiman Marcus card which clearly supports I am an authorized user on my moms account and my name is in the system because the clerk repeated my address to me and I confirmed my address. I stood at the register for ten minutes because the cashier was clear he couldn't sell me that particular Alexander McQueen scarf because there was more scarves in the back of the store. I became puzzled because the transaction was completed. After ten minutes of waiting on the cashier he went on to help other customers to stall time once the cashier received a call from LP he apologized and said I was only doing what they asked of me. I stood at the register and observed the cashier doing his job and he didn't ask any of his paying customers for his or her ID and LP Never phoned the cashier regarding the transactions because they were Caucasian. LP came from the back of the store to show me the transaction and I asked her to please phone the store manager. Unfortunately, the behavior reflects poorly on Neiman Marcus as an established company and especially the customers as it occurred in the public presence of on looking customers watching in disbelief. I went one step further and spoke with Teresa the manager of the store and I became extremely irritated because Teresa minimized the entire situation and said it's Neiman Marcus policy to verify all transactions over a certain dollar amount and if the transactions are declined. The conduct of Teresa and LP these two people have caused me emotional stress, physical illness and a discomfort in shopping at Neiman Marcus. I also mentioned to Teresa how frustrated I was because I could see if this happened one time or even twice and it's unfortunate this is my third go round in one year with Neiman Marcus embarrassing and humiliating me simply because of the color of my skin this is the last time this will happen to me. Last year the store manager ran the tapes and came back and treated my group to lunch and apologized and assured me Racial Profiling isn't acceptable and this will Never happen again. After twenty minutes of Teresa rambling I left the store in tears sobbing. If I had not heard this with my own ears for the third time while shopping in your store I would have trouble believing your racial profiling store policy and employees are so blatantly and actively racist this incident demands a lot more than just an apology or a store coupon! My only solitude and a means of escape from Teresa was to exit the store and drop my head with tear-filled eyes as I sobbed, and embarrassed. I continued to do what is expected of me and that is to maintain my professionalism at all times. I was sobbing and very emotional as I exited the store. I have made several attempts to reach out to Teresa the store manager in San Francisco via phone calls and I am still waiting for a formal apology and the number to the corporate office. This is my final attempt to reach out to your organization I am cutting up my credit card and refuse to shop with your company. Mr. Van Raemdonck, I believe in my heart you will contact me in a timely fashion. On my recent trip to San Francisco with my girlfriend, our car was broken into and multiple bags were taken. One of the things taken was her beauty products. This was upsetting for both of us so we went to Nieman Marcus the next day to try and replace some of the items that were taken. We went to the Chanel make up counter and here Raymond and Karina helped her figure out the process of picking out some replacement items. I went to run an errand at a different store and when I came back, I could tell the excellent customer service that they were providing. Not only did they help her pick out items that she loved, but they also put together a complimentary bag of items to replace some of the toiletries that we had lost. Their caring and warm nature helped both of us feel better about our trip as a whole and they represented the goodness of the majority of people in the city. read more

I went to get an outfit picked out for my birthday and didn't know what would go along with some shoes I bought the day before. That's when Nora asked if I needed any help right before I was thinking of leaving empty handed. I showed her the shoes I bought and she gave me a lot of outfits to pick from. It was like she was my personal stylist. She was also really friendly and respected what I wasn't interested in. I ended up buying an outfit she suggested and was really pleased on how I was treated and for the help! read more

Are they closing? We went for our annual shopping day and the store looked empty with a ton of sales racks. The employees, well there wasn't much to be found in the upper floors and the ones that were there did not seem happy. No one greeted us outside of the front entrance. Went to see the tree, the restaurant was closed. Didn't have the uniqueness and the excitement that we received in the past, seems very cold and frankly felt like it was on its last days. First of all, let me preface this by saying, this is really a corporate issue, NOT a location issue. However, NM corporate, is not listed on yelp, so I'm mentioning SF as the store my experience happened in. I was shopping for a Tom Ford lipstick. A salesperson approached and help me select two. I then needed Barbara Strum Sundrops. She went to the shelve where it was located and asked if there was anything else I needed? I said I wanted to get a mascara, she asked what brand I used and I said Estee Lauder. She asked if I was aware Tom Ford had a new mascara out? I replied, I was not and off we went back to TF. She told me all the wonders of the mascara and so I thought, well TF should be able to manage a descent mascara, as their lipsticks are divine. I made my purchase and off I went. Well, TF mascara is not only not worth $46.00, it isn't as good as some Maybelline products I've used for camping trips. The brush is plastic, which many prefer, but I found the application to be uncomfortable with the very sharp bristles that stab under your lasline as you sweep from base to tip. It is not especially building and it is clumpy. Lastly, I will need to sweep under my eyes at some point in my day, to remove where the product has moved to. All mascaras have good and bad characteristics, and one or two is about the maximum I can take. Especially for the price. I set off to return the product and was told by another sales person that because I opened it and used it once, I was not allowed to return it for any reason-silly me for telling the truth. I asked what I should have done to ensure I liked it and he said, you should have sampled it. I was not aware there was a way to "sample" mascara, unless I'm offered a tube of it, as I always have mascara on and cannot get a feel for layering it over my own. Furthermore, I was never told of this new return policy, nor asked if I would like to "sample" it for the reason, it could not be returned. I find this policy to lack the guarantee that every salesperson will follow protocol and offer a sample. When they do not, the customer loses and you make the salesperson the offender. Either business is so poor that this is a sad cost saving measure, or TF as a vendor is not fair, nor confident that the item returned could be turned in to an exchange for another item in his line or, for another product in the entire department. For the pennies on the dollar of the cost of the mascara, it seems either you make it very clear that you MUST sample prior to purchase to ensure satisfaction or, you sacrifice a good customer who will spend and has spent thousands more than the actual value of a tube of mediocre mascara.
