This was the first time I have ever gone to Neil's. It's a classic old school dive bar with pool tables, Karaoke, and occasional live music. The long islands i ordered were a little heavy on the tequila but the atmosphere and staff were friendly and kept the tone of the bar true to itself. We ordered the nachos with the chefs suggestion of pulled pork on top and WOW they were incredible. Probably some of the best nachos I have had, and I've lived in four different states. The pork was smoky and tender and the rest just followed suit. Definitely will be coming back! Big shoutout to David Walker for personally greeting us and guiding our selections! read more

Great dive bar! The bartender Chris was friendly and fun! Helpful when the ladies wanted to try something new. The locals were kind and welcoming to us outsiders. The food was really good. It was roughly 10 minutes till the new year when me and my two friends walked in. As soon as we did, the head of 'security' beelined it towards us and started interrogating us before we even had our ID's out. 'Your hair is dark blue in this picture but it's black now.' 'You guys smell like weed' 'Have you been drinking tonight' 'your hair is black now it's pink' after checking our ID's for 5 minutes with our credit cards he asked to check our bags and continued to question everything clearly looking for a reason to throw us out. He found some edibles I had and told us that it wasn't allowed in. I got rid of it and walked back in the join my two friends who were ALREADY allowed in. He searched all of our bags AGAIN and found a small shot glass my friend forgot she had in her bag. She said she's throw it out but no, he threw us out! During this whole interaction people were being waved in not even glancing at them. I was really bummed because this was my first time at a bar I had just turned 21. We left so annoyed we waisted 15 minutes of the new year feeling degraded. But THEN DANIEL the shuttle driver was super cool. He got us thinking positive and happy for new year. Thank you Daniel. My Husband I have been going to this bar for over a year and a couple months ago they told us that we had to drink in order to sing Karaoke, like drink as in alcohol even though we are both diabetics. So we started going there and buying one drink each because that's all we can drink without going into a diabetic coma and we've noticed that they only let us sing once the the whole night everytime we go. We go weekly and they always only let us sing once. Tonight we were skipped four times, we only thing one each and we were there from 1030 until closing from now on I think I will take my business to the crazy coconut where they don't count how many drinks you have to drink for how many songs you get to sing. read more

Drunken cowgirl looking chicks with stuff and I mean stuff coming out who are slurring lyrics from an ABBA song or perhaps even a Merle Haggard tune are in fact going to keep you laughing. As far as honky-tonk bars go, this one pretty much takes the cake in the eastern valley... Even though any style is accepted here I usually feel like I should be wearing cowboy boots whenever I come here. Karaoke is fun and it definitely keeps the party going... Especially when you can get your buddies drunk and up there dancing and singing to some Lil Jon with the wireless mics... Everytime I've been here it's always been more guys than girls... which is typical of most bars in the Coachella Valley... I can usually depend on having a pretty decent time here and not spending too much money... It's better than say, The Red Barn, but I prefer the Beerhunter if I don't want to sleeze it up as much... Crowd is a mix between older (40+) white people to barely 21 kids who just want to get faded and act like fools. Pool tables are good too as well as the selection of liquors... Food is kind of greasy but the burgers are on the large side. I'd say you pretty much get what you y pay for. We went to Neils a couple of times in December 2010; lovely place for a dive bar. No gang-bangers, but we never went in on Kraoke night or the weekend. The bathrooms are stunning and clean. The staff is delightful - Mark the Bartender rocks. The locals are friendly and inclusive. In short, it's our favorite bar in the area. Far better than the Tack Room. read more

As a 20 year patron of Niel's lounge I can safely say it is the best "dive bar" of the valley. The drinks are cheap, the staff is well trained and friendly, and the karaoke is the most popular in town. It is a fantastic place for locals after just about any night out on the town, or for people from out of town that want a great bar just to have a drink and relax in a comfortable laid back atmosphere. I would note to the people who enjoy singing karaoke that, it being such a popular place, there often can be a waiting list to sing and I would recommend giving a tip here and there to the DJ's to help facilitate bumping you up on the list...as they work extremely hard to make it enjoyable for everyone and to remember that not everyone has the same musical taste. If you are a local you already know the fun that can be had at Neil's...and if you are from out of town I recommend you drop in and see for yourself! I wouldn't have gone there for 20 years if it wasn't a really great bar with some of the most amazing people you will ever meet! read more

I went to Neil's and the first they tried to cut me off after two shots and then tell me I need a designated driver. Which I already had. Cholos and golf pros! On vacation from LA for the BNP paribas open 2014 and we had to squeeze in our karaoke fix for the week after a few cocktails. I could not have had a better time at NEILS. A great place to go in the east valley for a casual night out and some fun karaoke. This place is way laid back and a popular stop after Coachella Music Fest or Stagecoach. Celebs have been known to stop in an sing, too. Note that on those weekends in May you'll want to arrive early as the line can get pretty long. Otherwise, you can usually walk right in. Ice cold beer, great service, good/cheap food, clean bathrooms and NO WINDOWS..... what more could a guy with a minor aversion to society ever ask for. If you are into drinks with umbrellas or exotic fruits (limes are ok and an olive here and there fine) then this isn't the place for you. Beer, wine and a simple mix is the name of the game at Neil's. Perhaps intimidating on first visit you should quickly realize that this is a place where locals and tourists alike come together to tell lies, get drunk and sooner or later sing some karaoke. The $5 food menu includes a tri-tip sandwich and a cajun chicken sandwich that are fantasic. Once the karaoke starts the crowd gets younger and the bar gets louder. There are usually one or two quality Idol wannabees and plenty of 'I sound great in my head' performers for your viewing pleasure. Careful if you decide to park out front as backing out of the parking spot onto Highway 111 can be a little scary after a couple wobbly-pops. read more

First time I went there my cook was super awesome and took my order. Then, he continued to give me outstanding service. However, last week when I went there for a yummy burger...the food was still good. However, I had to ask my bartender for ketchup (pretty basic). I also bugged my nice bartender for utensils, a to go box and my check. So, it's hit or miss...love the low key atmosphere of the bar. It seems to be a locals bar which I dig. read more
