We decided to drop in after driving by several times near the area. The location looks very hip and there are lots of restaurants on that strip. I will say that there is very limited parking and that is maybe why they offer valet services. Walking up to the place there's a Michelin star restaurant and an ice cream spot so definitely had to try those out on another day. As far as Neighbors, we came inside and it definitely gave a neighborhood hole in the wall type of field. It was very casual and a pretty cool spot. You can order pizza by the slices or you can order a box as well. We got two slices of pizza and a minestrone soup. The pizza was definitely delicious. It had that type of pepperoni that is very greasy and I really love it. The cheese was very cheesy and it really felt like they use some quality ingredients for that pizza! Now for the minestrone soup, I will say that tasted terrible. It was piping hot and had no flavor. It was just maybe a vegetable brought with veggies in it no noodles. We did want to order some drinks, but for some reason all of the ones we wanted to order were out so that was a little annoying. We opted for some root beer and we called it a day. Was craving a pepperoni pizza, specifically the tiny cups of pepperoni and we saw a picture of the pizza from Neighbors and HAD to order it. Didnt realize it was a very chill hangout/bar. Loved the casual hang out with friends/low-stress date vibes this place had. I think there was a corner with some board games and large tables and good low light setting. I absolutely love this neighborhood joint. They often have daily/nightly weekly events but my favorite as been their "Espresso Self" Saturdays." The dj's that play here are experienced, crafty and know how to mix a great playlist to keep a chill party going. The crowd is very diverse in age and ethnicity and is a true representation of Houston. They are known for their Pizza, but I haven't tried this YET. But what I did try was their Espresso Martini's. Apparently on Saturdays you can request songs and if the DJ chooses to mix it in with their plays then you get a free Espresso on the house. Everyone nowadays try's their hand at making Espresso Martinis, but many dont do well in it, but Neighbors gives you a nice balanced Boozy, Espresso forward with a hint of sweet to take it home. First review of 2025!! My first time at Neighbors was on a Wednesday night for their R&B Bingo Night and honey it was a blast! After spending most of the evening/day at mamas eating gumbo we made our way back to the city for some fun. Once we arrived it was packed, music was flowing and drinks were being served. We stopped at the bar and put in orders for Prosecco and an espresso martini. During that time, I was on the prowl for a table. Lucky for us after about 10 minutes or so two people left and we secured those seats! I love the concept and you win actual cash prizes for getting bingo, can't beat that! The place is a vibe and the music was A1. I'll defintely be returning on Wednesdays as well as other themed events. They sell pizza by the slice/box. We had pepperoni and cheese. Also, there was a comedian in one of the rooms down a back corridor. We didn't drop in, but I liked the idea. The pizza is divine here. It's billed as NY style. It's similar, for sure. But it tasted more to me like a combo of NY (large, thin slices), Detroit (the cup & char pepperonis and sweet sauce), and Neopolitan (crispy charred crust, but hardly soft in the middle.) Hot honey and ranch were available as toppings, but nah. Not necessary. The beer selection here is OK. Wine selection looks better. The service here is outstanding, as are the board game options. We wanted to play Macala, but there weren't enough stones. (Lucky me, since I always lose!) But we saw others playing Connect Four and other card games. We've already decided that we will bring our cribbage board back here in the future. Parking is wonky, but doable. This place takes plastic. The interior has a funky coffee shop style with various laid back seating areas, plus tables, and a bar top. It would be great place to catch up with an old friend over drinks. They serve pizza and it smelled amazing, but we held out for the pre-planned dinner nearby. We sat at the bar, and the bartenders were friendly and very helpful while we tried to figure out what to order. Everyone settled on various cocktails in the menu, and there were no complaints. I ordered a filthy martini and it came out more or less dry, so I just asked for an extra shot of brine from the bartender, problem solved. Interior is very eclectic, cozy, and comfortable. It has a very laid back feel, which gives it a great place to catch up with people. I came here after spending a couple hours studying next door at Eden plant coffee shop. I just got hungry and the smell of pizza was permeating through, so I eventually gave in and ordered a Margherita pizza. The pizza itself was decent, but I've had way better NY style pizzas. The crust was a bit tough and the flavors were a bit bland, but paired with the ranch and hot honey on the side, it made for a delicious afternoon snack. The slice was also sorta small. The dj was playing great throwbacks and the small dance floor was full. The music was maybe a little bit too loud as we could barely hear each other. Then on the side there are tables playing board games like settlers of catan and monopoly deal. I'm not sure if they brought it themselves or if it's provided by the establishment. The bar situation is also confusing. We went straight to the bar and after waiting more than 15 min to order we were finally told by a kind person that you have to wait in line at the cashier first and order then go to the bar to get your drinks afterwards. After that we got in line and waited for probably another 15 min just to order. The whole thing was just not very convenient and made us not want to even get more drinks. The drinks are also inconsistent and tasted different each time we ordered it. We ended up ordering a pepperoni pizza as well and it tasted fine but was very oily. Overall, it was a unique bar experience. I would have enjoyed it more if it was less crowded but I liked the concept of it. I would have enjoyed it a lot more if they capped how many ppl are allowed inside and increased the number of bartenders. Located in EaDo, Neighbors isn't in the heart of EaDo but close to it. They have a small parking lot that was full when I arrived so I found parking on a side street close by. You order at the counter. After starting out with a bottle of Rose, we went with a pepperoni pizza too. I have never been terribly impressed with the pizza scene in Houston but Neighbors does a good job. The pizza is enough for two people to likely have leftovers. It had just enough grease. And the pepperoni was cupped which you know is next level. While their menu is small (both pizza and wine), it's mighty. They also have beer and liquor. They are debuting a new bacon, egg and cheese sandwich with beurre blanc on a bread roll and it is incredible. Delightfully zesty, flavorful bacon (that is not at all skimped) and the bread was *chef's kiss*. The decor is pleasant and comfortable with mismatched chairs and tables. Good vibe, no complaints. There is a parking lot in the front that's pretty tiny, so you may need to park on the street. The pizza was good when it was hot, but as it cooled down it became tough to chew. We ordered the pepperoni and the pepperoni was very thin and wasn't very crispy either. I did appreciate that they have ranch and hot honey available toe at with the pizza. Outside of wine I don't recommend getting cocktails here. It's another establishment where they dilute alcohol with cheap liquor. I ordered the Italian margarita and it was Well drink, ok. Decided to take accountability for not specifying top shelf and paid extra for another drink by requesting don Julio and still received cheap liquor, the same drink (at least it tasted the exact same). Paid double for 2 drinks I did not consume. I should've asked for mgnt or a refund but decided to spare people on this night the trouble. And then bartender was rude after I politely requested the second drink and said I'll pay the extra. I really don't appreciate that and it's a bad look on this establishment. We checked out Neighbors for Wine & Sage night, which occurs on Sunday, not sure the frequency in which it happens though. I do know it's really hard to get tickets since they sell out so quickly. They're $10/pp so the price is not bad. It started at 8pm and we got there around 8:20pm. There was a guy at the door who scanned our tickets and we went in. It was about 50 people inside and maybe 30 outside on the patio. All the seats were taken but Xavi, one of the managers, was able to grab extra seats and we joined another table. We got a bottle of their sparkling red wine ($59) and a large pizza ($26). Our pizza was cold when it came out and we had to ask for it to be reheated. We ate, drank, and enjoyed the music. The DJ was decent but the crowd was kinda off. Folks weren't really engaging with each other, and because there weren't enough seats, it felt like people were on top of each other as it got pretty crowded by 10pm. I know they've been doing this for only a short while so I look forward to the improvements and checking them out again in the new year! read more
