Austin Regional Clinic: ARC Pflugerville - The doctor that I seen

I am honestly heartbroken and furious about how I was treated during this visit. After waiting for…read moreso long, I stepped out of the room to ask the front desk a simple question because I had an online class I needed to get to. As I was leaving, I saw Dr. Gray walking toward my room. He said he was about to come in, but he already seemed upset and flustered and from the moment he spoke, I could tell something was off. He didn't ask what was going on or why I had stepped out. He didn't give me even a moment to explain how I was feeling. He asked two rushed questions, barely listened to my answers, and shut me down when I tried to speak. He looked in my ears and then told me, with no empathy at all, 'There's nothing we can do. You can call ENT and Google exercises at home.' It felt dismissive, cold, and completely unprofessional. What hurt me the most is that my blood pressure was extremely high dangerously high and he treated it like it didn't matter. I know I have to be responsible for my health, but he is a doctor. Why choose a profession centered on caring for people if you are unwilling to actually care? I was not rude, not difficult, not disrespectful, yet I was treated like an inconvenience. I could have walked out of that clinic in a medical crisis, and he didn't seem to care at all. As I was leaving, he said, 'Your blood pressure is a little high, try not to stress,' and then chuckled. That moment broke me. I felt small, dismissed, and completely uncared for. I work incredibly hard. I'm in school finishing a master's program in clinical mental health. I am not illiterate, I am not unreasonable I was simply asking for help with my health. And Dr. David C. Gray absolutely failed me today. I left feeling angry, sad, and scared. Thank you for taking the time to read this, because he certainly didn't.

This clinic and ARC as a whole has made me lose all faith in healthcare. I will never go to another…read moredoctor again. You don't believe in the Hippocratic Oath. Anytime I've come to this clinic, the staff is dismissive and doesn't listen. They ask why you've come in, and don't write notes for the doctor. The doctor asks why you've come in and dismisses your issues as non issues. This has happened to me for a variety of issues over 5+ years. If I could find a reliable PCP I would never come here. 0/10 never recommending this clinic or any ARC clinic to anyone ever.

Dr. Russo has been my personal physician for about fifteen years. He's been in the same location,…read moreand probably had some of the same magazines (kidding!) for the entire time. I'm writing this review because I see some of the other, negative reviews on here - and nothing here is wrong, except for the guy back in 2013 who said that his office was "dirty." He's a doctor, for goodness sake. Everything is appropriately sterile. He's a human person, so it is possible to catch him on a bad day. My Russo story: back in 2006, I had an office visit where he palpitated my neck and discovered a thyroid cancer in its earliest stages. I had no other symptoms, but his hands are finely tuned diagnostic machines. My cancer was operated on (by Dr. John Austin, another fine physician and surgeon), and I'm here 13 years later writing this Yelp review. He can be brusque and his office and equipment may look a little dated, but I trust the man, literally with my life. I have been sick, walked into his office without an appointment, and walked out literally minutes later with a prescription. He is good, he is convenient, and he's even a good egg: ask him about his charity work in Haiti! Just don't take it personally if he's too wrapped up in keeping you alive to laugh at your jokes.

Dr Caterbone and his staff of practitioners have been working with me and my family members for…read moreover ten years. I have gone through periods of being uninsured and his staff has gone to great lengths to insure that my medical needs are met. He is a doctor that listens and takes time with his patients. I love the fact that he doesn't belong to a giant clinic. Recently, I had to take my daughter to another clinic because the insurance company she is on prefers that clinic. The doctor there sent her home without thoroughly checking her with a "wait and see" approach. She was very sick and had missed too much school so I paid out of pocket and took her to Dr Caterbone. He ran a couple of tests that found she had a pretty serious illness. I appreciate his thoroughness.

Anyway, Dr. Caterbone didn't bring my chart in on my first visit. Awesome, I say! He listened to me, he read my chart before he walked in. He put the chart down so he wasn't tempted to just look at it and hardly look at me like most docs do these days. His approach was wholistic. He gave me a rx for a simple ailment that worked just like I needed it to. And I have another chronic illness that you either medicate (like most of the population) or work on it with diet, exercise and lifestyle changes. He actually told me to try to work on it without drugs! He gave me some sound information and I'm completely impressed. I'm so glad he's not a drug-pusher! How often do you hear that, really? Did you know that drug reps give doctors incentives to prescribe their medications? So obviously Dr. Caterbone isn't only out for his pocketbook. Yeah, the other reviewer so far is on crack. Don't listen to her.
