Learned about this place from our local community forum on social media. I decided to request a free consultation for a patio cover via their website, and I received a call within 20 minutes of submitting it, which caught me off guard at work. I was able to schedule a visit on a Sunday the following week by Ivan and Aaron. During the consultation, they went over many different options and we eventually took a deal that saved us some money by agreeing to having them build a patio cover for us that very same day of the consultation. Fast forward, supplies and the build happened quicker than anticipated. They even came to the house while I was out of the country, away on vacation in Japan, to complete the build. They took pictures when completed, I even checked my security footage to see how long it took, and just like they stated, they were done that very same day and cleaned up after themselves nicely. When returning from my vacation, we scheduled a time to meet with them for a final walk through to make sure we were happy with their work. We did find some things, which they took pictures and also made note of. They said to call them if anything arises from our findings (nothing as of 1 month later). So far I have been completely satisfied with their work, their communication, and attention to detail. I will most likely use them again for future projects for my house. Thanks Need for Build team and thank you for everything Ivan and Aaron! read more

Our first major home renovation project required Contractors with above average communication, quality experience, and patience to educate us in the process. Jonathan and his team met our high standards. He always conducted face to face consultations going over all the work step by step, coordinated all the work for the project, and answered all our questions and calls. We also worked with their experienced and knowledgeable landscape architect who walked us through design, developed blueprints, and, between him and Jonathan, did all the work to obtain permits. The Project: They excavated through a large hill giving us about 400 sq. ft of living space and built a sturdy retaining that will last a lifetime! (See pictures) The Money: Jonathan was always considerate of our budget. I found their pricing to be reasonable and well worth what we paid. I witnessed his team working hard every day through 90 degree heat and still be friendly and helpful. I completely see and understand where our money went to. We invested in our home, good quality workers, precious square feet with a retaining wall built to last, and outstanding customer service. Priceless considering the stress involved in coordinating such a large project from permits, bulldozers, etc. We are very happy with the quality of work and customer service and hired them to complete a second major project! Will post updates to Project 2 upon completion! read more

Recently purchased my first property in San Diegohappy with the work that was done by Need For Build. Danny and his team redid our entire backyard in just under three weeks! Their quote was reasonable and I felt safe going with this company. They provided us with a 3-D design and I must say, they took our vision and brought it to life. The landscape and hardscape came out outstanding!! The workers came on time every day and cleaned up after they were done for the day. We have to recommend them and will not hesitate to reach out again when we're ready for our next project. read more

The old retaining wall was falling apart and splitting at points so it desperately needed to be redone! Vini with Need for Build really took care of us and gave us a fair price for a professional job that we can feel safe about. They had given us a reasonable timeline that we were happy with but in the end they were able to get the job done in a fraction of the time and started ahead of schedule which really helped out. The wall looks amazing and they even touched up the remaining portion that was still in good condition so it matched the new one even better and will now last longer. I highly recommend them if you're shopping around for any home improvement projects. The workers were also very professional and friendly and took all COVID precautions even while we were in the house. read more

This review isn't about the business, but it's about what a kind gentleman Andrew the Project Manager is. I got a flat tire and he stopped and changed it for me in 15 minutes! As a represtative of this company he's a steller guy so if I ever need construction repairs, I'll be calling him. Thank you Andrew and good luck with your company! read more

We hired NFB to do the landscaping for our new house, let me tell you. Excellent work, from outstanding communication, prompt deadlines, to great design and a polished finished product, NFB did an excellent job for the most part. The only issues we had were that when planting grass, was done but many of the plugs died quickly, so they needed to be replaced. The cost was above average, but truly, you get what you pay for, and they were worth every penny! read more

If you're looking for a general contractor, I can recommend the BEST! We recently renovated our kitchen and master bathroom. We received a recommendation for a general contractor on Next Door for Need For Build, and we couldn't be happier. We worked with Nadir Avivi as our point person and designer and he was amazing. His crew was fast, respectful and hard-working. Nadir completed our major remodel ON BUDGET and AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. We can't recommend him or his company, Need For Build, enough. Contact Nadir for your remodeling needs at (760) 277-0407 and I promise you, you won't regret it. read more

I have never seen a crew so punctual and work so hard. We had what I was guessing a 5 day project (minimum) and they finished in 3 days. Mike was a workhorse making sure everything was done right. Danny (the owner) has impressive customer service skills and I now understand why his company has so many great reviews. Danny helped me turn a questionable situation into a pleasant experience to get my dream home project on its way. He has also referred me to some experts who can help with my project and he is a well respected leader who knows how to get things done. Thank you Danny and your team! I love the quality of work and customer care that you deliver. read more

Avi was super efficient and supportive. He was always there at the end of the phone when you need something. His team were excellent & we are really happy with the end result. Definitely recommend! It's a detailed process from start to finish - our original bathroom was 30 years old and completely falling apart Avi has a lot of vision and good taste but he doesn't impose his views, just makes helpful suggestions which is really important and his advice is really useful. read more

We sought out a reputable, licensed, and quality company for our bathroom remodel and that is when we found need for build. We booked a consultation with David (Tzahi) who was on time, professional, and took time to educate us. Our previous consults were less than 10 min with no follow up and left us feeling insecure about those companies. Need for build is licensed, bonded, and insured which allows consumers to be less stressed and more excited for their projects. We were set up with consults to buy products at reasonable rates, received regular updates about our remodel, and observed quality professional work throughout the remodel. The workers clean up afterthemselves and David went above an beyond to give us the bathroom of our dreams. Best part is the 100% satisfaction guarantee! read more

We had water leak from above on our ceiling, and Angelo was there to help us! The ceiling was fixed, painted, and textured, just like brand new. It was as if the water leak never existed. He also made sure that the crew did not leave until it was to our satisfaction. Thank you to Angelo and his crew at Need for Build! Daisy & Ador read more

We did full kitchen remodeling, which was finished in late December 2022. It was a complicated project as we modified the kitchen layout quite a bit. I was anxious and stressed out. But in the end, we got a new kitchen that we all loved. Doron (Project Manager) was very helpful in resolving problems and coordinating throughout. The crew was professional, flexible, and expert in their work areas. The schedule was a challenge due to supply chain issues during the pandemic time. But all those were handled with great care. read more

My wife and I recently purchased a new build in Valley Center and needed to install drainage, 470+ sq. ft. of pavers, 75 ft retaining wall, and a stone planter. We met with five builders and chose to hire Need for Build after hearing Dylan's sales pitch. Dylan was great and not your typical pushy salesman. He was personable, easy to work with, and very professional. He did an excellent job with explaining the process, offering alternative options, and coordinating the project from start-to-finish. He was a big reason why we chose to hire Need For Build. If I owned a construction company, Dylan would be the project manager I'd want to hire. As for the crew, they were some of the most organized, polite, and hard-working professionals we have EVER worked with. The entire project was completed in two and a half weeks, but they could have easily finished it in two weeks flat if not for a few rainy days. The crew was very experienced and the quality of their work was very impressive. The small details matter to Dylan and the crew. Some of our neighbors were amazed by some of the very difficult cuts they made! Overall, my wife and I could not be happier with our new backyard. Need For Build wasn't the least or most expensive quote we received, but we are so glad we hired them because a few of the other companies that we interviewed didn't do the best job on some of the other homes in our neighborhood. We highly recommend Need For Build! In fact, we plan on hiring them again in the near future for other projects inside and outside the home. read more

I called for an estimate from Need for Build near Poway Ca. in September of 2024. To their credit they arrived the next day and gave me a quote and started work the next day. I was told the work would take 10 days, but then after two months it was finally complete. I do think the people doing the work did some quality things, but there are some things that were not done professionally. This past weekend after the first rain I found that the patio replacement made of Alumawood leaked. I also noted that the artificial turf they installed has begun to raise where it meets the concrete of the patio. There are other items I am extremely unhappy with such as the patch up in the concrete where the post from the old patio cover sat. Since they did not provide me any written receipts for payment or who to call in case of quality issues, I turned to Yelp to let people know to be mindful when selecting your contractor. I really wish the expensive project turned out better. read more

We spoke with Need for Build in May of 2022. We worked with Angelo as our main person of contact. We were beginning the first phase of home remodel with a small bathroom. We did not have to do anything other than replace the shower tile, vanity, floor tile and fixtures, no addition was being added, at this time we were quoted a price that was higher than any of the other bids we had received, this bid did not include any of the Tile, vanity, or fixtures, only labor and raw materials. We were told once we ordered materials it would take approximately 6-8 weeks. The project started June 17th, due to many errors and lack of communication the project is still Not completely done! Please keep in mind that this is a Half Bathroom, there have been so many errors that were made that I can't even list them all here. I spoke with Angelo last week on September 1st and again explained to him my frustrations with the errors and he assured me that he would be speaking to his boss and getting back to me right away, I have yet to hear from him again. I can't stress enough to do your homework and even if you can't get your project done for a few months, Wait! This company will not be worth the cost and headaches you will receive by hiring them!! read more

So you are looking for a contractor for a big project ??? These are your guys! My project was a front and backyard full re-model. It included taking out a huge tree, re-leveling the whole back yard, pushing back a hill, building a retaining wall and more. From start to finish, this team was extra professional. Everything was explained perfectly from the start, I never felt like I was out of the loop or unclear about any aspect of the job. The guys who came to do the work were kind and respectful. They even played with my dog on their lunch break. All the work turned out beautiful (see pictures). There were a few bumps in the road as there are with any project. My concerns were addressed immediately and appropriately. The response was above and beyond what you would expect from a normal company. They fixed things as soon as they were noticed and the end result is amazing ! The lead (Jonathan) was ALWAYS available via phone to talk about the project and he was at the site checking in daily. They finished well within their stated timeline. I didn't have to pay for each portion until it was done. They really went above and beyond for a good final project. These guys may come in slightly above price than some other companies but I find you really get the quality you pay for. See my before and afters below ! Happy to answer any questions ! read more

We haven't even signed a contract yet and we feel so compelled to write a review of our experience. We set up an appointment to review a potential build of a large patio cover. Andrew came to our home and this experience was far different than any we have had. How lucky Need For Build is to have him on their team, how lucky we feel to have met him, the time he spent, the suggestions, the honesty (since we have a background in construction so we know when something is a sales job) just everything about him gave us a renewed faith in people and good businesses. Anyone who follows behind us and uses Need For Build, and gets to work with Andrew, you will be fortunate. read more

I hired Need For Build for a build out of a covered patio area to turn in to an office and walk in closet. I could not be happier! I worked with Andrew and he helped me come up with a creative design that enabled me to get my project done in the budget I was working with. I met with four contractors total to get estimates for this project. Not only did Andrew accommodate my budget better than anyone else, he was also extremely knowledgeable, and I had much more confidence after meeting with him than any other contractor I met. Additionally, Andrew kept in fantastic communication with me constantly. It didn't matter if it was weekend or evening, if there was something I needed to know, Andrew touched base. And he always responded to my phone calls and text messages promptly. I got the office and closet space I needed. I will definitely hire Andrew and Need For Build for any upcoming project I have. read more

My wife and I shopped around a while, meeting with various contractors to assess our project. Our problem was a growing soft spot in the sub-flooring beneath our pre-fab shower tub unit. Danny came to our condominium and talked us through the entire process. Patient. Not overly sales-y, though Danny--like any other person--has business to take care of. His numbers and timeline were right for us, and his recommendations were sound. There was no half-assing this project, as doing so would end up costing us more money and time in the future. The Need For Build team shuffled its schedule around to complete our project, helped us select tile, fixtures, and tub, then stayed engaged throughout demo, multiple inspections, tiling, etc. We even had a hiccup with a neighbor's leaky tub, which required some extra ceiling repair (and a short delay in the project). The team was patient as we worked through this unforeseen circumstance. The outcome is a simple, clean, high-quality upgrade to our small (and only) bathroom. New plumbing, added moisture/mold protection, tiling up to the ceiling, and new fixtures, tub, and shower door. We are quite happy with the work and recommend the Need for Build team to anyone. read more

My husband and I recently did a full kitchen remodel and added a custom coffee bar. After researching thoroughly through Yelp, Next Door, BBB and State Contracting Board, we decided to go with Need For Build, a local Poway company. After putting this off for years because we thought it would be so expensive and so disruptive, we finally pulled the trigger. Could not be happier with the whole process, including design, demo, progress, finished product. Our team, Ivan and Robert were extraordinary. Ivan James did so much planning on the front end that the whole construction process went super smooth. They were even ahead of their timeline completing the kitchen in 5 weeks! I wish I could give them 5+ stars! Ivan, Robert, Mikey and their team at Need For Build did an excellent job for us! Now that I have cooled off from being so upset about our experience with this company, I'm ready to get myself worked up again by writing a review. I will try to just stick to the facts, and you can determine for yourself what you think. Overall, every single step had a major mistake. Not little mistakes, major mistakes. Every. single. step. Examples: 1. miscalculated height of a retaining wall and built one twice what is legally allowed; 2. built a second retaining wall with such shoddy materials, had to end up demo-ing it and building a new one; 3. claimed to not hire outside contractors, but everything was built using outside contractors (contractors told us so); 4. convinced us to have a cable fence but the contractors very likely didn't know how to build one, and as we noticed problem after problem during construction, they repeatedly told us and it was part of the process and would turn out nicely... it didn't; 5. the fence was so bad, after much back and forth, they finally agreed to demo it and build a new one; 6. forgot the gate on the fence; 7. changed the type of wood used for the fence without telling us, using lots of gaslighting to try to convince us it was our fault; 8. illegally charged our credit card and then threatened us when we told them to remove the excess charge; 9. when we finally told them we didn't want to continue with their company, the owner used the argument that if we think they are bad, other companies are worse. Luckily we did fire them and the company we hired to finish the job was much better. Now we unfortunately have a poorly constructed fence that is already falling apart (it has been one year), with drooping cables and rotting wood, after we paid top dollar. Beware. read more

After a long journey of searching for the right contractor for our backyard remodel we have decided to go with need for build and here is our input: 1. Great workmanship 2. Great communication 3. Great quality of materials 4. Attention to details 5. No surprises or extra charges. Just a great and smooth experience. Cindy was our rep and we couldn't ask for a better person to manage this project. At the end of the project Danny (the owner) came to do a final walkthrough and made sure everything was up to par, which we really appreciate. I highly recommend Need for Build. We had a very large project that took several months to complete given the complexity of the project. We did pavers, retaining walls, a large deck with an overhang, a patio, drainage and a large riverbed. The project was built into a mountain side. We worked with Doron and Chris primarily throughout the project. Doron was the project manager and Chris was the Forman. They came into a project that was started by another company and abandoned in the early stages. There were timeline issues due to potential damage and erosion from the previous company's errors. Doron came in and really worked with us to expedite the process to avoid any further damage. Doron communicated with us weekly and more if needed. He oversaw the project from beginning to end. I wanted to be involved in each step of the process and to be included in each step. Typically I feel like general contractors and construction companies do not involve the client but Doron summarized the progress each week with us and then reviewed the upcoming plan for the next week. We exchanged texts almost daily and Doron and was very invested in the project from beginning to end. He was never unavailable. He even left the country for a short time and made sure we had access to the team daily. I felt like if there were questions or challenges Doron was always willing to meet with us and find a plan to make things work. On multiple occasions Chris came out and worked with us to problem solve along with Doron to make the project perfect. There were some unforeseen challenges due to supply issues as well minor changes that we requested along the way and Doron and Chris always were willing to work with us to get things right. They were both very polite, patient and fun to work with and we really enjoyed a project that was quite stressful because of both of them as well as their crew. On a few occasions when we would have something going on at the house over the weekend, the crew would clean up, and even move their tools/boards/scraps etc. mid job out of the way so we wouldn't have to look at it, and it wouldn't be in our way- despite coming back on Monday to start work again. I think they went above and beyond with this type of treatment. The owner, on one occasion, even came out when looking at ways to finalize the project to our liking. Doron and Chris, along with their very skilled workers created a beautiful and timeless project for our family. They had several team members that are very very skilled in their craft. We were very impressed and happy with the final outcome. I can't say enough about how amazing our experience was. I would never do another project without having Doron as our Project manager and would not want to have anyone oversee the work other than Chris. We are lucky to have their team of workers who did an excellent job as well. We highly recommend them for any project that you might have and hope to work with them again some day. read more
