It is literally hard to believe in these times you can get a contractor to show up, do the work, timely, for a fair price, and a quality result. If that is what you are looking for, you have found your company. I'm still literally floored that these guys are as good as they are when they really don't have to be in this market to remain competitive. I read one review where the potential client said he/she was pressured to do a project. To the contrary, for us, they wrote up a contract with 40k worth of work, and let me pick and choose, add/subtract all throughout the job and were completely flexible. The workers were respectful, timely, and resourceful. They came up with truly creative solutions for sometimes complex problems created by our own design choices. David assisted us with putting in a French drain and retaining wall in our backyard to prevent runoff from our hill accumulating on the concrete. Although he told us that this is a smaller job than they usually do, it was still prioritized and done promptly. We are happy with the outcome and will be using Need For Build in the future. We decided to do our front yard and court yard. So we reached out to several companies. From their response we chose Need For Build. Aviram called out and we went over what we wanted done. With everything i mentioned we wanted done. Aviram would always have a very prompt response with solid design ideas. Which was great. I had previous guys come out and they seemed to be going through the motions. So we decided to go with Need for Build and we were not disappointed. From day 1 until the finish, their team were always on top off it. If we needed to talk about something or change something (within reason) they were happy to listen and change what needed to be done. Their work has been excellent. Aviram was always quick to respond and had visited the site regularly. Their foreman was always checking on the work too and if we had questions or small issues, he would listen and deal with them. We have been working with Need for Build over the last 4 months on our backyard/patio remodel. It did not go well initially which is why I have given 4/5 stars, but the owner Danny stepped in and made sure that every aspect of our project was reviewed by himself and Avi (who took over management of the build) and met our expectations. The end result is beautiful and a wonderful change for our home. They went above and beyond to make sure that everything was done correctly and if we were not thrilled about any of it, they worked to correct it until we signed off. I've included some before and after photos. Our vision really came together in the end and we are thrilled and thankful to the team of people at Need for Build who helped to complete it.  Here's what we had done:  -Moved a retaining wall to add more patio space -Added 12 ft of concrete countertop with wax finish, plus tiled backsplash -Removal of old, rotting pergola and installed an Alumawood covered patio with recessed lighting -Removal of old glass patio doors and installed new sliding glass doors -Created new steps and pavers with step lights -Painted all retaining brick walls white -Additional misc. projects around the house I believe that part of the initial problem was bad luck and unclear expectations as their team had just suffered a hard loss and they were in a time of transition. Partly because of that, our project, and seemingly others who were working with them at the time, suffered because of it. I've provided a large amount of feedback and believe they have taken it all very seriously to make changes and I've personally seen that with our project. I contracted with NfB in Nov 2019 for a front yard do-over. I had been considering this project for several years and after several meetings with design consultant, Rachel came up with a plan. The project was started and completed in December 2019 and I'm just thrilled with it. Even with the economy crashing, making payment a little more challenging, I would do it again. The project manager, Chris and his paving, turf and landscaping crews were excellent and very professional to work with. Especially the paving crew. Super nice guys, did an excellent job. I bought a house with unfinished backyard and desperately wanted to make it usable. I called around several Landscape companies to get ideas and quotes and Need for Build was by far the most trust worthy and customer oriented company I came across. Rachel and Danny came out to look at the yard, listened to what I was envisioning, then showed me pictures of different projects they're working on to advise what would work best. They were very accommodating of my budget at the time and made sure I picked out quality materials at a good price by accompanying me to the store (I bought my own pavers and Need for Build installed it.) The guys that came out to install pavers was very polite, always cleaned up the work area when they left in the evening, and any little concern I might have along the way addressed it right away. The work was finished in less than two weeks and I ended up with beautiful paved backyard. I had big dream of planting different trees and plants to make it a luscious backyard so kept the dirt around the edges, but reality was working and gardening didn't go so smoothly for me. Gardening, I found out, is a lot of hard work and effort. After few months of trial and error, I called back Rachel to discuss putting finishing touches around the edges to make the backyard pretty much maintenance free. :) Again she gave me practical ideas that'd go well with my current pavers and I am excited to see the work started. Doron first told us he would be with us every step of the way. He was truly an amazing PM. We started with turf and then built a pool. Over the last year and a half Doron has been incredible to work with. He helped us with decisions, designs and pretty much everything. The estimate came in higher than what others quoted but I have never had a single issue or concern that Doron wasn't ready to fix or help with. Outside of our main project, doron helped fix broken stones, repaint walls that didn't match and a whole host of other things we have needed. In response to Danny - the one star review was not based on price, it was based on process, expertise, and respect for the client's time. They sent someone who was not knowledgeable or able to help us determine what would work best for our needs. She was sent to deliver a cookie-cutter sales pitch, and kept trying to sell us on turf after we asked for alternatives. If you're going to demand half of a working day and then come in significantly higher than any other company, I would expect the PM to have some expertise in landscape design. If they came to our property in the past, it was not since we've been the owners. I obviously can't speak to quality of work, which many of the high reviews compliment, but I think it's important to be transparent with their process. Not our style of business. Unfortunately, we were really hoping this company would bring it's A-game given some of the reviews but we received far from that. After the "consultation," we felt completely defeated and exhausted. First, it wasn't a consultation, it was a 4.5 hour sales pitch. Yes, 4.5 hours. It was never communicated that we should expect to set aside half of a working day. They also want both homeowners present. They also didn't send a SME on landscape design, they sent someone to make a hard sale. The next red flag was she pushed turf from minute she walked in our backyard. What we wanted, and what I was clear about on the phone, was a qualified professional who could help us design the space, keeping in mind we have dogs and a kid. Instead, we ended up stating what we think we wanted and the quote was drawn up after that. There was zero help or expertise in helping us determine what was best for our property. We then asked to see two different options and that was like a curve ball out of left field. Again, we were driving this part with no help. Next, after we had a vague idea of what might work for us, she took measurements. The measurements were not accurate at first and she stated we would need to move a big section of gravel so that they could roll out only one piece of turf (again, still pushing turf), instead of cutting it. That would've drastically cut the space for our dogs and I was not okay with that. Turns out, the measurement was wrong. Back to the planning. There were other out-of-the-box "design" suggestions that just weren't going to work for us and we got the feeling that this was a one-size-fits-all sales pitch. Sorry, this is long-winded but rightfully so. We ate up half a day for an unsatisfactory experience. We also gave a budget in the beginning. Admittedly, a budget without knowing current industry pricing. This was within the first 10 minutes of the appointment. She did not say anything about working within our budget or suggesting alternatives. 4.5 hours later, she comes back with an initial quote that is double our budget. Now, in between that time she took measurements, sat us down to view their unnecessarily long PPT sales pitch about why they're the best, and drew up pricing. My husband had to take a work call (again, no idea we would need to set aside so much time), so she had to stop the presentation until both of us could be present again. We would be totally willing to set aside that time for someone who is knowledgeable about landscaping and who could walk us through a design that fits within our budget. This wasn't the case at all. She was very nice but it was a total hard sale and, honestly, a waste of her time too. It's a poor business model and everyone loses in the end. I feel bad that she is told she needs to go through a specific outline to complete a sale. She was so focused on that that she couldn't accommodate our needs at all. read more

So recently I went through about 8 or so quotes to get the back yard done. After talking to David the first time, by the next morning the quote was ready, unlike other who took 3 days to weeks or never even gave me a final quote. At first I were unsure how it was going to go because they were so quick they wanted to lock in a contract and offered us 20%discount then and there only. They are not the cheapest so the discount made them bit more comparable to others quotes. Originally we were looking to add a retaining wall roughly 3ft tall and 60ft long pushing the. Little hill in the back about 4 or 5 feet closer to the fence line. We also wanted to remove our grass area and put slab. The day we started the work Jonathan gave us an offer to replace existing concrete, price was fair so we went with it. The appearance would have bothered me with new slab and old slab and weird design not matching. Few days later Jonathan gave us another offer to do both sides of the house,but we were already in to a pricey project so eventually agreed to doing the larger side so that the kids could make use of it. In the end we did 2 of 3 sides of the house and the work went fast, the crew was respectful,quick and easy to work with. In the end the yard was over 3x the size of useable space. We now can have the kids bday parties here,easier for guest when I bbq,and just more room for the kids to run and play on. As far as the work some people lay rebar at 36x36 they do 18x18 roughly and the 3ft wall footing others offered 12x12 they did 18x18 as well, they do compaction a few times to make sure the floor is solid. All the work took almost 2 weeks, very quick. Pros: 1.Fast response to any issues 2.Friendly 3.They take pride in their work 4.Thank you flowers were sent after completion 5.They get the job done quickly. 6.12Yr. warranty on Concrete( larger than hairline cracks or uneven levels they will repair or replace) 7.15Yr. warranty on retaining wall.(leaning bubbling or cracking gets repaired or repalced) 8.Fuly licensed and insured,also they background checks on their workers, who are supposed to carry a card on them that can be verified.(I never asked to see one) Cons: 1.They didn't have dumpsters planned out for 2 different occasions, so I had a 15'x8' concrete pile on the asphalt and also same size pile with dirt. I have H.O.A so told them that cant happen again. They had the pile picked up the next morning for both times. 2.They didnt place plastic on the side of the house while pouring so I had some concrete on the side of the house. Luckily I had the exterior paint still so they removed what they could and painted over the rest. 3.Had to have them come back and clean the street and few spots of to make it look as it did originally. 4.Price wasn't the cheapest, but they are fully covered/insured as well as their workers and we needed that incase anything happens since our backyard faces a street we don't want the liability to fall on us if anything collapses. My experience with the Need for Build company was OK. We had a small project in our kitchen. We needed to install a duct into the cabinet to reroute the duct into the existing vent into the roof and patch and repair the drywall. Before the project began, the project manager communicated with us via text. He recommended companies that will do the testing and removal of the asbestos. When the test and removal have been completed, we agreed on a set date/time for the duct installation. The schedule is September 1, 2022, between 8-9 AM. The manager and the technician both arrived at approximately 9 AM. The manager explained the scope of the job, and then the technician left to go to Home Depot to buy the materials and returned at 10:30 AM. He started the job, and at noon, he said he would exchange the duct to Home Depot. It was already 2 PM, and he had not returned, so I messaged the project manager to ask if the technician was OK. The project manager called at 2:30, stating that they had pulled all their technicians because there was a water leak in another client's home. They left our ceiling open, and all their tools and nails were all over the kitchen area. When I told him that we were also their client, he said that if it happened to us, we would surely be happy that they would help us. He told us that they would continue the next day. My assessment of this experience is that: - My impression is that the project manager told the installer the scope of the job, and the materials needed were ready before the installation. In this case, he told the technician the scope of the job the same day of installation, bought the materials right after, exchanged them, and never returned (time-consuming). - I felt that we were not as significant as their other client because this was a small project. - Lack of communication. I had to initiate the communication two hours after the installer left. The project manager told us that he was unaware that his guy got pulled out to help the other client. He found out 30 minutes ago (again, that is a lack of communication from their team). It would be more understandable if they let us know as soon as they found out they needed our installer's help with their other client. -Not being respectful of our time. I took a day off to get this project done on 09/01/22. The manager told us they would continue the next day as if we didn't have work. -Lack of an emergency plan. The manager told us that this incident had not happened before. I felt an emergency plan should have been placed, so the other client's job was not interrupted. They were able to finish the next day in our time frame at 4 PM. The installer took 3 hours to complete the job. He did an excellent job, and I know this issue is not the technician's fault. He was following orders from the upper management. In addition, the project manager came to do an inspection, and after I filled out the job completion form, he listened to my experience. I felt he was sincere in ensuring we were important despite our small project. They also sent us a fruit platter from Edible Arrangements. read more

Amazing experience! We moved to SD in 2013 and bought a house with good bones but we knew we would have to remodel it piece by piece as our budget allowed. Having not had a good experience with our kitchen and 2 other bathroom remodel as, we sought out a new company. I received a call from Danny, the owner of Need For Build, who was really apologetic and offered to meet me again to review my current project. I decided to give it another chance as I realized he is genuinely trying to help out and had good intentions. We met today, Tue Jul 30th for two hours! I couldn't believe it. He was very professional and straight forward with my project needs. I was that blown away by his professionalism and honesty that on the way out I greeted him "Have a great weekend", its Tuesday... Any who, Danny is genuine person, very professional and honest. He didn't try to over sell me on anything, on the contrary he came up with some great cost effective ideas for my backyard project. Whether or not I choose Need for Build for my project is remained to be seen. Regardless, I do appreciate his honesty, time and effort. I needed some work done in my back yard to replace an old retaining wall and steps down to terrace, repair a large area of the pool deck pavers, to re-plant much of the yard and to install low-voltage lighting. Need for Build was one of 3 companies I contacted for the job. I received a prompt reply to my request for an estimate. Andrew arrived promptly to the scheduled appointment and spent a good deal of time talking with me about my project needs and options. He was very easy to work with and even pointed out some gate repairs they could do while completing the required work items. The crew members who spent a week working on my project were polite, hard-working and professional. The site was cleaned up at the end of each day. I was impressed that the pavers were replaced perfectly into the complicated "random" pattern! Mike, a crew chief, communicated with me every step of the way to make sure their work was what I what I was expecting and was very nice about adjusting items more to my liking and adding a few lights I had overlooked. It was apparent to me that the company works hard to make sure their customers are happy with the work performed and the results achieved. NOTE - This review is NOT for work done, but for my initial experience. I contacted Need for Build and setup an appointment with them 2 weeks from the day I called because it was the only day I could arrange to get some time off work during the day. Before we hung up, I specifically went over the date and time again. When the day and time arrived they did not show up. I waited 30 minutes before calling them. I was greeted on the phone with attitude as if it was my fault. 'Are you sure you called us? What was the name of the person you talked to?' Shame on me for not recording their name. But the attitude immediately turned me off and the fact I was wasting vacation time sitting there and being lectured on the phone certainly didn't help. To their credit, the individual on the phone finally sensed my frustration and offered to try and come later that day (was not going to miss any more work) or Saturday (they had lost my business already). What's the saying, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Silver lining, after reading several horror stories on nextdoor about this company, I may have dodged a bullet anyway. read more

Need For Build = Honest + Fair + Accomodating I contacted NFB bcuz the 1st contractor hired I did NOT complete water damage job he was hired to do. I called other businesses desparate for help and settled on NFB. It was the BEST decision I made hands down! Nadir Avivi is a consummate professional. He listened attentively to my frustration & concerns. He was very meticulous when looking over every inch of my bathroom and even addressed problem spots missed by the previous contractor. He took the time to explain the NFB remodeling process to me and type of repairs needed. Nadir's crew was phenomenal! They are ALL highly skilled, VERY hard working + conscientious w/re to my home and Covid concerns. I was MORE than pleased with the of quality of work.
