The trick with Nector is follow up. I was upset with his work but he came back and did more work and the rats finally vanished. I think the kind of work he does is tricky because there are so many ways rats can sneak into your home and we lived next door to a big community garden so the rats use all kinds of tricks to get shelter from the rain. Don't let your kids leave Halloween candy unless it's totally sealed up. At the first sign of rats you have to be super aggresive--which we weren't, as you can't ignore the slightest sign of them. The team responded quick after the quote and for the first visit. It would be a happy ending story there if my rat issue got resolved. Unfortunately, it's not. The rat issue in the garage keeps ongoing for the next 6 months and the response from the team is more and more reluctant. The last straw is today - the trap caught another rat (Thursday) and they offer to come and handle it the next Monday? Remember 2 months ago I got ghosted on the scheduled follow up appointment? My patience has run out for this company - the past 6 months just proved their timely follow up/maintenance promise cannot be trusted. Fine, I will start handling this myself. This is recommended by one of my friends but experience turned out horrible. To all, you get a better chance to get this type of issue resolved by installing plenty of cameras and figure out where to block. And I wish I had read all the one star warnings (especially those reviews with comments on how horrible the promised folllow up would look like, please do yourself a favor to read all of them) - those are all real and proved to be true again in my case. -Unlicensed and unreliable My tenant called me and told me a foul smell was coming from the crawl space, so I got onto Yelp and found Nector's Rodent Proofing. They were not my first, second, third or forth choice, but their reviews seemed positive and everyone else was booked 3 - 4 weeks out. The next day Nector came out on time and did the free inspection and told us that he too smelled a foul odor coming from the crawl space so he got one of his people to come out in 30 minutes. So far so good. Once the guy got under the house he discovered the cause of the smell, a broken pipe that caused a pool of water scum that built up. He also found "the bones" of a dead rat.   To remove the bones of a dead rat he normally charges $280 !! but told me he would wave that cost if I allowed him to rodent proof the unit, which would cost $700, so it would only cost me $420.  I agreed and that is when he told me that he could repair the water leak too.  I thought, great, now I don't have to look for a plumber, so we scheduled everything with the tenant for the following Friday at 9:00 am and that is when everything started to go down hill fast. Problems: -People within this company do not communicate well among themselves. --Nector does not give out his cell phone number so you can never get a hold of him. -The plumber never showed up on Friday as per our agreement -The people rodent proofing never completed the job on Friday as promised. It took them 3 days. -Karen, the person who answers the phone did not know the terms of the agreement and kept telling my tenant and myself we did not have our information right. -Then Nector and I had a dispute with the final bill. Nector told me that the entire bill would be $700 and not $420 as he explained at the outset. Once again this could be another communications problem and maybe I just misunderstood Nector, but the invoice clearly showed $700 minus $280 for the pest removal. After all the above problems, I checked with the California Contractors State License Board and called the Structural Pest Control Board and THEY TOLD ME these people did not have a license to practice their trade. What does this mean to you? If anyone from the company injures themselves on the job, they can sue you! Check with your insurance company and they will tell you the same thing. My insurance agent recommended that I NOT use them again for this very reason. If you still want to take a chance with these people, ask them for their "contractors license number" and then check it with the CCSLB & SPCB. read more

We had a problem with rodents entering our house through the attic and crawl space. It got so bad that we started to get bug bites from what I think were dust mites. Of all of the people that we had give us a quote, Nector's quote and proposed fix was the most reasonable. Nector and his team covered up all possible entryways into our house with wire mesh and placed baited traps throughout the house. Nector then had somebody return regularly to check the traps. If you value your time and your hard earned money - don't hire them. They give you a sales pitch to get you to sign up for a one year contract. Then, after you have paid and you try to get them to come out to perform the service you paid for, you will get the run around!! When you try to schedule appointments everyone gives you excuses and stories from the receptionist, to the techs, to the owner. They will schedule appointments but not show up! It's clear as day what's going on here - you are getting strung along until the one year expires. They take your money promising one year of service but never show up past the first or second visit (if you are lucky enough to get a second visit). Stay away.....total rip off. read more

For $900 I got a hole filled with spray foam, traps set, checked once and that is all... not one rodent was caught in the traps which were left out for a month.. ants enjoyed the bait.. next time I will hire a contractor, have the hole filled permantly, set my own traps, and save $800 read more

As of the date of this review, I finally am rat free. I struggled with rats for the past few months. They were in my garage, in my heating vent, and in the ceiling. We tried home remedies (glue traps, snap traps, cage traps) and nothing worked. I called out a competitor and spent more than $600, but the rats remained. With the competitor no-showing on me several times and showing up late even more times, I finally called Nector. As another reviewer noted, Nector was on time for each appointment, if not early. He and his staff were friendly and knowledgable. He found entry points that the prior company missed and sealed those entry points. The best part is that there is a warranty for his service if I hear more rats. I don't know how my first review of Nector's Rodent got taken down when I updated my review. Anyway, I decided to write another one when I found out that his previous employers (Javier and Diana Valencia) were up to no good again. I was con by these two people when I initially started dealing with Nector's Rodent Proofing. Javier came across as a very trustworthy person and one I wanted to do business with. That was the biggest mistake I made. He took my money and never came back to finish the job. When I called the company and Javier, they never picked up my phone call. I left voice messages and text messages and they never got back to me. It was only when I wrote a very negative review that Hector (the owner of Nector's Rodent Proofing) found out what had happened. Apparently, Diana had blocked my number from the company's phone system so that everytime I called it would go directly to voice mail. He came out on a Sunday and looked at the job and took away the dead rat that has been in my basement for a month (this is the same rat that Diana came out and saw on the trap and left without removing it. I ended up having a fly problem and had to fumigate my basement to kill all the flies). Anyway to make a long story short, I left a very negative review for their company (Cheetah Rodent Pro) and I guess business slowed down. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NECTOR'S RODENT PROOFING BECAUSE HECTOR IS A VERY HONEST AND TRUTHFUL PERSON. After signing a year contract w Nector's to resolve attic and crawl space rat activity in our new home, all access were sealed off. They took the time to carefully and thoroughly walk my property and inspect it in great detail. They found every little access from the roof top to the ground and left traps in the attic and crawl space. For 4 weeks, the traps were checked and were clear! All problems were solved immediately. A few weeks later I noticed a lot of outside rodent activity around our outdoor furniture at night. First, they cane out to lay a few traps. Then Nector's came back out to empty the traps and cleared away several nests along our fence and behind climbing Jasmine. They trimmed down the climbing Jasmine with my approval. They sprayed a solution that is harmless to pets and people but with a scent that rats dislike under my patio furniture (peppermint smell). Nector's cleaned away all the landscaping debris, hosed down any mess, swept and thoroughly completed the job. They will continue the service as needed every couple of months. Nector recently completed a job for us on behalf of another company and was great to work with. He was on time (and actually was early, which was refreshing) and really had all the technical knowledge to open walls to try to find our rodent issue.
