My favorite spot in Fremont! Came on a Saturday night and was drawn in by the 112 mix going down. DJ was spinning OG hits like Mase, Puff Daddy (no not Diddy), Mya, MJ, just to name a few and it was legit! They have great DJ on different nights so the music situation is good if you're try to get down. There was a $5 cover, which is cheaper than Ballroom down the street, and I felt like it was worth it. Drinks were decently priced and were average for a club/lounge kind of venue. read more

Walked in and not to crowded....got there at around 9pm. Parking situation was not bad....EXCEPT!!!! I got a parking ticket because didn't notice that it was a NO park after 8pm.....super weird!!! anyways! Enjoyed a couple of local bands. From country to blues....to cover songs! The intermission songs played by the venue was in the indie category and pop rock. Which I really enjoyed! You can either be at the bar, the dance floor in front of the stage...OR....if you like to go outside for a smoke, there are some nice heater in the ceiling that keep everyone warm and cozy! As for drinks....its a full bar....including some pretty good puerto rican rum! I'm always in for some good PR alcohol! It was a very fun night in general, with parking ticket and all. read more

I've been in the area before, but have never been here until the other night with some friends for a show that was held here. From the outside looking in, I was little surprised because it seemed a little small for a show, but there is an outdoor patio that opens up which adds more space and more ventilation which is good, since it was a little crowded in there. I saw that they have an upstairs, which is nice if you're here for a show and want to avoid the crowd below. I didn't have much to drink here, but from what I remember it was good. They have food here which is a nice touch if you're having a good time and want something to munch on, however I didn't end up ordering anything here. (It was one of those nights where nothing there sounded good to me, but they have pizza and I usually LOVE pizza. It was an off night for me haha). Service was friendly, and it was nice that the staff would come around regularly to pick up any empty glasses. It was overall a fun night, and would be fun to come to again for another show or hang out if I was in the area. read more

Went to see "Nite Wave", who was so/so, as was the odd venue, which is laid out very strangely for a concert. All was well until the a-hole bouncer rabidly approached me with a BS story about how I committed the unpardonable sin of telling one of his wait staff to "chill out", which I absolutely did not. I've never been so rudely treated for something I didn't do. When I told him I didn't do what he thought I did, he just snapped back, "Yes you did!" I immediately paid my bill and then told this a-hole bouncer I will never come back to his s#*thole establishment again. read more

As far as music venues go, Nectar is pretty great. I saw Final Fantasy (the band not the game) and was impressed at how intimate the setting was. In order to properly appreciate the subtleties of an artist like Owen Pallet, you have to be up close. The audience was polite and not very obnoxiously scenester like most places in Seattle. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for other cool shows at Nectar. Dunno about food. The pizza smelled good, but I didn't get any. I couldn't really see a way to order food during a show, so whatever. I imagine you would have to go up to the bar and ask, but that was too much effort. read more

This place was fun! Saw some Reggae show here about a year ago and was impressed. The venue itself is newer, but built in that 'Seattle Style' with wood slates and metal siding, very REI. (I love how Seattle has that distinctive style). I think I remember the neighborhood being cool, with little bungalows and cool shops nearby. Anyway the people of Seattle are what really make this venue cool. See in DC, if you go to a concert, PEOPLE DON'T DANCE. People just stand there, too cool to dance (or too uptight). Here in Seattle everyone was grooving. People in Seattle are also friendly. I met a bunch of kids and had a great time. Really, anywhere is Seattle is probably cool (except for some yuppie places that probably exist there) but this one stuck out as especially cool. read more

It sounds kind of silly, but upon my first visit to Nectar a few weeks ago, it felt like I was in some place other than Fremont. The doors and windows were all open for the summer night, and coupled with the high ceilings and blue hued lighting, the space felt airy, open, mellow and cool. The open layout didn't detract from the sound quality either and I appreciated the absence of vomit and/or pee odor. My friend and I came out to support the local band Luc and the Lovingtons, and though they were behind on sound check (we had to wait a little before they let us in), the bouncer was gracious and friendly--a nice change from the typical power tripping bouncers in Seattle who think that manning the door at a shoddy nightclub justifies indignant behavior. The Bottom Line: Great ambiance, great space, great sound. I would love to perform here some day with my band! read more

Venue tends to change from hip hop to reggae. Floor can get a little crowded but there's a large outside area covered and uncovered. Also a good section upstairs with tables to check the stage shows out from. If it's a band you like then you'll have a great time. read more

Nectar, l love you. l've loved you for three years. Unlike some of your reviewers who complain about a second loft area to sit and enjoy shows, l know that there *is* one...upstairs. ln fact, that's what it's for, and that's what a 'loft' means. l know you don't care if people dress up or not. Your bathroom may be small, but l rarely have to wait long, even on busy nights. Except for that time l snuck into the men's bathroom so l wouldn't pee on your floor, much to the mens' amusement and dismay. You've always been good to me. You've served my drinks promptly, and you've even put up with me when l had no business staying there any longer. Your shows are incredible, you pull in big (and talented) names, your drinks are reasonably priced. You allow dogs on your patio during the summer. Your patio is huge. Your drinks are reasonable. You even have misters that keep us cool on hot days (even though other of your customers complain about it). You allow free reservations of both the upstairs (for parties), and tables downstairs for busy summer happy hours, as long as we call ahead. Your happy hour menu is basic, but good. Your real menu is even better, and your sandwiches rock. Your staff is hot, speedy, and amenable. You have never disappointed me, except for your winter hours, where you aren't open seven days a week. But that's not your fault; it's only my addiction to you that makes me want you open all day, every day. l know business gets slow. Don't worry, l'll be there when you open. Me, a whole crew of people, and my friends Jaeger, Mac, and Jack, happily giving you our paychecks. You will always be our number one spot, and we will always be your ten number one fans. read more

Nectar is one of the more unique Seattle music venues. It's a relatively small space, especially the dance floor, but their patio is large and quite nice in the summer. I've only been a couple times, but they seem to have a pretty eclectic schedule that leans towards DJ sets and reggae acts. It's a nice space and I've enjoyed the shows I've been to. read more

These guys host some excellent IDM and mashup nights. I would recommend coming to these events around ten p.m., because that's when the place really gets packed and interesting. I saw Gold Panda, IG88, and Dam Mantle on separate occasions, and also came for one mashup dance night. Of course there are the foibles any nightclub experience has - someone spills their drink on you, you're so close to other people you start doubting the sweat on your arms is your own, douchebag asshatery abounds, etc. But as far as management, the place seems to have it locked down. There's always someone at coat check, the bartenders know what's going on, there's security, and if you've had a little too much of the noise you can escape to the patio but still enjoy the music. Can't beat the Fremont late night scene either, even if there's only one or two places open late for food. read more

There is 1 bartender there that you SHOULD order drinks from. Hes an older, white guy with dark hair and some facial hair i think..everyone else cant make a drink for shit. The venue is nice tho. Also, if you are a girl, be sure to bring a big scary looking boyfriend or pretend boyfriend with you to scare off all the tools. read more

Interesting place, I like the balcony area and seating but lack of food was disappointing. I DO like that they have a variety of venues there (went for a benefit concert). Street parking... not the most convenient. And NO decor IS RIGHT! Didn't drink so no opinion on that aspect. read more

Pretty good spot, its the best club experience I've experienced thus far, though I'm not much of a clubber. I went when Yellowman was in town; a live performance is much better than any DJ. Though there was a lot of weed smoking, the music was poppin. Atmosphere was great and there wasn't a mix of people: different races and a fairly wide age range, but that's probably just because it was Yellowman. Tickets were about $13. Drinks about the same price as anywhere else $7-10 for cocktails and whatnot. I'd stay away from their Long Island Iced Teas unless you like to drink essentially pure alcohol. I'd come back. read more

I've had some great and not as great times here. Great energy. Great job of getting some different sorts of bands than many other clubs don't (world, beats etc). great size overall. can be very fun, most people seem to be having a good time which makes many people happy. some problems I've noted.... "smoke free" gets quotes- don't stand anywhere near the entrance to the patio if you dont like smelling of smoke, since there is no physical barrier between the admittedly quite awesome patio and inside. also bring cash for the outside bar. I've encountered some pretty rude men here (sure, I wanted you to push that chair into me. I also appreciated when you shoved past me to the front. At 5'3 I can easily see over you and came 2 hours before you just for the hell of it, not purposely to get a good spot up front....) and largely obtuse women (most of whom were too drunk to notice they were hitting people or pouring their beer on others-possibly understandable but still not preferable). also the bar can be a bit of a disaster to get to when it gets crowded, as its on the far inside and there is usually no walking room. To agree with others, The bar isnt great at keeping track of who got there first. the bathrooms are totally inadequate. read more

I've been to this spot probably about a dozen times throughout the years. It's a very small space, but somehow always manages to pack a full house with hundreds of people. I've performed on stage here as well and the acoustics aren't that great since the front wall opens entirely to the outside. They do have some pretty stiff drinks and host some of the better local artists as a music venue..... read more

As a minor at a show the security guard checked my ID and gave the go ahead for me to go to the bar with everyone else over 21 which I was confused because my ID specifically says I was born august 1st 1996, so I'm still 20. Then had the nerve to get pissed at me when I came back down from the minor section with my under 21 friend to try and leave and get food and they said minors couldn't re-enter looking at him and said a minor needed to be escorted back to the minor section and I looked at him confused and said, I'm also a minor and he looked baffled because he checked my ID earlier and apparently his eyes told him I'm 21 when I'm not. He proceeded to march upstairs and put sharpie X's on my hands because he screwed up and didn't properly check my ID. I have never been so disrespected by security at a venue because I wasn't of legal drinking age. Great venue but terrible staff. read more

Nectar once had the best happy hour pizzas and good'n'stiff inexpensive drinks. They've ditched HH, but still have the absolutely bestest outdoor patio (it's huge and has a hot weather water mister. how cool is that!), the best damn staff and an awesome live music scene. What more could a fella ask for? (don't get me started) Well, actually, I am annoyed sometimes by smokers on the patio. But, no biggie...they'll soon die off, leaving more room for me! read more

Seen a few shows, performed a few times, had a few drinks, played a couple games of pool, celebrated a birthday. Nothing special, but not bad either. Sound system is decent. Acoustics are pretty good for a small venue. Bar and ticket prices are a little inflated, but that comes with the territory in Fremont. Staff is friendly enough, food is standard fare. Not much else to say... their booker does a great job finding talent to bring to the stage, otherwise you'd find yourself on Capitol Hill or downtown. read more

The service here is amazing. Great bartender great waitress. I love the size. Perfect for a intimate show. The security guys are a downer. Just your classic meat heads. So I bought advance tickets to eldridgegravy March 3, 2017 Get there way early before 8:30pm Show stated 10 ish Had my front row standing area. Saw the first band no problem and then once the second band started I was elbowed and abused by a 20 something white male and 2 20 something white females. I asked them to stop and they continued to harass and push and hit me and verbally abuse me. They then left and complained about me and security removed me stating I had abused them. So 3 20-year-olds one male and two females against a 54-year-old woman and I'm the guilty party. good job nectar security you are so good at your job! read more

We had dinner at eight just down the street at a place called El Camino which is always fabulous and then dancing at The Nectar Lounge! One of the best times I've had in a long time. Small enough to weave through the crowd and fetch a drink or two. Large enough to get the feeling it's your own personal concert. The stage is just the right height for entertainers you can see them preform from just about anywhere in the place. We did a 80s vs 90s dance party that was awesome. Great DJ and mix of entertainment. Cover was $12 and worth it. read more

2.5 stars. In a nutshell, the venue was too small for the band: Picoso. When the band starts you hear, "Llego Picoso! Llego Picoso! Llego Picoso!" Okay, I get that Picoso has arrived, but, where in the world am I supposed to dance??? By default, you almost have to dance merengue or borchata instead of salsa to every song at Nectar because there's just not enough space to do anything else. If a man or woman gets dejected by this and goes to order a stiff drink, say perhaps a 7 & 7...he or she gets a cup full of ice with very little of the good stuff. Not a good night for me here. I was hoping a night out would improve my mood a little bit, but, this place didn't really do it for me. Nectar would be fine for a different style of music. Like seeing reggae or a thrash band or something that doesn't require much space where you could just bump, jump, our bounce...not for salsa where you need 3 feet for your cross body lead though. Speaking postively for the band, I think that Picoso deserves something a little better than this. On a positive note for the venue, the line to the bathroom moved very quickly. :) read more

Warning: I am friends with the people who own Nectar and used to work there myself so this may seem like a completely biased review. The truth is, I think that Nectar has the best happy hour in Fremont. On a sunny day you cannot beat their patio with cheap pizzas and beer until 7pm. The Gordon Jump is my favorite pizza by far and for $5 it cannot be beat. It is made with Italian sausage, gorgonzola, mozzarella and red sauce (I skip the red onions). The $3 apps are also a great deal. Skip the bruschetta melts and get the hummus or the nachos. A word to the wise: the patio gets crowded quickly so get there early! read more

After filling up with some delicious food at Mr and Mrs Wok we decided to head out to Nectar. It was LOVE at first sight. I have never been here before but since I got to pick the place for dinner he got to pick the after hours establishment. He says he practically lives here and I can see why. This is one of those places that when you find out it exists you feel cheated that you had not found it sooner. The drinks were strong and reasonable for the price. The bartenders know their stuff. Great music-mama got her groove on!! I plan on making up for lost time here. I am looking forward to better weather and sitting outside on their patio sippin on gin and juice-LAIDBACK read more

As previous Yelpers have mentioned, this place can get pretty rowdy and somewhat dangerous. The bartenders are known to over serve and I've experienced them refusing to serve water to designated drivers. Unfortunate, really, since it has great potential to be a quality spot. If they'd clean the place up and brief their staff on liquor service guidelines they'd have a much easier time controlling the madness. I think it's likely an issue of ignorant, neglectful management. read more

I don't know what they think they are doing, but packing ~400 people inside a building that's maximum capacity sign says 136 is really dangerous. My husband and I purchased tickets online and went to see a band on Valentines Day night, by the end of the night we were going down the street to a less jam packed bar to use the bathroom and standing on the stairs leading up to the overlook just to see the band. One of the bouncers tried to tell us we couldn't stand on the stairs because it was a fire hazard, I told him that has to be some kind of joke, people were literally shoulder to shoulder, filling up the entire space of the venue, inside and out. If that isn't the biggest fire hazard there is I'll eat my hat. On top of that I went to the bar to order a red bull and vodka to keep me on my feet until the end of the show (no where to sit all night) and the bar tender pours me a full pint glass of vodka with a splash of red bull. That is a great deal if you are a damn alcoholic or frat boy looking to get wasted, I am not either of those things. It was $16. Holy shit. All in all I can say that I didn't feel safe there. I heard a lot of other people talking about feeling unsafe as well. If they think they are making some great business choice by vastly overselling tickets they need to wake up and realize that the safety of their patrons is more important than money. read more

Came here by surprise and stumbled into this place to discover a few bands lined up to perform. Before all this started, I also started with a nice cocktail. So I thought. After one sip, I couldn't take another. I think they really wanted me intoxicated so I'd lose my wallet in the middle of the night. Haha (joke) My drink was just a glass full of gin with a slice of lime and a couple of mint leaves. There goes my first $10 bucks for a cocktail.... I didn't like it so I went for a glass of very cold coke (the drink). To make this lounging more appealing, I also ordered a Margherita pizza and some nachos. I have to say they were very busy attending to me because I had a lot of requests but I was also feeling good. I got my nachos and a little disappointed bcs the cheese was all dried up as if it had been sitting somewhere before it got to me. My pizza didn't have basil. The waitress said that they had ran out of basil leaves and had nothing else to offer to make me smile. Well, I didn't have much to say but to suck it up and eat my plain cheese pizza with my stale nachos bcs I chose and really wanted to have a good time anyway. So there's that... On the flipside, this place is very open like a big garage with lots of windows. Staff was friendly and the vibe was really nice. The bands delivered and I really had a great time despite some unexpected mishaps. That was fun though. As always, I make the best of my night outs. Always! read more

I was at Nectar for some kind of show. I was walking around Fremont and wanted to check it out. Since there was a dance floor, I started dancing (like an idiot, as I am prone to do). Eventually, I needed to visit the bathroom. Upon exiting, a security guard told me that I was cut off from the bar...WTF. I only had 2 drinks. I don't know what that was about, but I took it as a sign that awkward nerds with glasses who try to fit in like me were unwelcome. Oh well, not coming back here. I'll just leave this place for the douches for which it was designed. read more

An all around great time. With shows basically every night, covering almost every genre of music, it is a must visit spot in the Emerald City. The staff are all great and make sure you have a fun experience. read more

Definately up and coming one of THE venues in Seattle. Small and intimate, but big enough for a small concert. Absolutely love this place. Great food, and drinks are fantastic. Classic Gin. Love it. I've had a friend of mine perform here a couple times and its the perfect size for up and coming artist. Provides a space for a small crowd, but big enough for the place to be PACKED, and you can feel the electricity that the performers provide. The downstairs in just the stage, bar, and standing area for everyone. Upstairs will be considered the LOUNGE. Seats, booths, pool, everything you can ask for here. It also over looks the bottom floor and the stage. They also have an outdoor patio for you smokers, or if you just need a breather. read more

so, it feels pointless to call this place tool central, since i think that's what it's setting out to do. i mean be. my friends invited me to karaoke here last night, and then they were about an hour later than they said they'd be, so i was on my own at nectar for a while. first of all, a the white-boy hip-hop soundtrack was way, way, way too fucking loud with 50 times more bass than appropriate, so much that i had trouble actually walking inside. my body wanted to revolt and sprint away, away. on the patio, legions of long-haired girls in spaghetti straps and guys with fauxhawks sat drinking appletinis or whatever. douche chills. i went in anyway and ordered some pork tacos, which were really good, and surprisingly cheap (at least after checking out the cocktail menu). then a fauxhawk came up and asked me where my boyfriend was tonight, and i was like NO and got up and left and came back 20 minutes later when my friends were finally there. like my friends, the karaoke got started another hour later than it said it would, but the book and host were pretty good. a little too sound-systemy, but i have a feeling that nectar would think that's an idiotic thing to complain about, because i have a feeling that they place a lot of importance on HAVING A SWEET-ASS SOUND SYSTEM. WITH LOTS AND LOTS OF BASS. the crowd was, um, what you'd expect. the ladies sang fiona apple while their posse of spaghetti straps giggled and swayed uninspiredly. oh, and a group of them tried to steal our chairs when we got up to get a drink, even though our stuff was still on the table and we'd been sitting there all night, and then gave us a bunch of big sassy attitude about it when we were like "uh. we're sitting there?" we're a big group of girls in a bar! at the same time! we've got jeggings and tequila and minds of our own! spice world power! my friends and i also had a lot of individual trouble getting a bartender to actually be behind the bar and serve us, which was weird. it's mostly the crowd that rubbed me the wrong way. and all the ads everywhere for Soul Night and specials on labatt's. all the tropes of a bar for style-free shithead assholes were present. i guess the disconnect is that i don't understand what this place is doing in fremont. i felt like i was in queens. but again, i think nectar is totally achieving what it's setting out to do, which is look and sound and be as much like a club version of the limited as possible, and the obvious solution is for me to just not go there if i don't like it. it clearly likes itself. read more
