I really want to give Nectar more stars - but it is overpriced and noisy. The place is has nice decor - but you pay a premium price for average Chinese / Japanese Food (they call it Asian Fusion in the burbs - right) - If you want the best Chinese - go to Margaret Kuos in the center of Wayne. I've had several dinners and I've even had a group dinner for 25 people at Nectar. Many times the wait staff is very slow and pretentious. We will see if they have to lower prices and get real with the drop in the Economy - even the Mainline places should offer SOME value. Not here. read more

Very expensive, but delicious. My mom and I went once early before it was busy and got great service. I had the lychee mojito I believe and loved it. We shared the dim sum platter and I had the tomato mozzarella salad. The dim sum was fantastic, but the salad was a bit difficult to eat, though tasty. read more

Great little spot for dinner and drinks. Weekends it does get busy and a bit crowded. Just a heads up, its valet parking on the weekends in case you're a car enthusiast and/or drive a high end. I was there on Friday night and fell walking from the restroom back to my table. The floors there are so slippery it was like a sheet of glass. There is a ramp you have to walk down when you come out of the women's bathroom and there's no railing or tread on the floor. I went flying and landed on my side and back and shoulder I've been in pain all weekend and my neck is twisted. Why do they keep the floors shiny wax someone is going to break their neck. read more

Such a great hidden gem, totally worth going out of your way for. The food is so flavorful and fresh. Drink menu is also delicious but the food is really what makes this place amazing! The wait staff is patient and courteous as well! One of my favorite places for sure! read more

hmm..the interior is really nice and modern. bathroom is clean ( a plus) got here alittle before 5pm which was our reservation time and they told us to sit at the bar area because they don't start serving till 5pm. weird. i went with two others and we got the bento box for 2 but they made it for 3 and its basically four different verisons of dumplings. hmm. really? not a fan. go to h-mart and get your own dumplings for less money and more qty. dishes- duck/ribs w/filet/ and a seafood dish that had shrimp/scallops/beef. i felt like i was paying for high priced chinese food. dessert: home made icrecream - three flavors - a scoop each. i don't think i'll be swinging this way for a while. must forget about the food before i'm fooled into coming back. read more

Birthday dinner at Nectar. Seated promptly for a 6:00 reservation. Dishes were as follows: Vegetable Spring Roll, Crispy Calamari & Edamame, and Crunchy Vegetable Soy Wrap Roll for appetizers. The spring rolls were crispy and not overly greasy. They came with a avocado dipping sauce and a green salad that, I believe, contained watercress. Very good. The calamari, though light in color, were crispy and easy to eat. They weren't rubbery at all. The edamame were lightly salted and mixed with breaded and fried onion and jalapeño. Excellent! For entrees, we went with the mushroom pad thai and the Chinese eggplant. The pad thai was very good with pieces of mushroom. Lightly sauced, the noodles were well cooked and the dish was a big hit. The eggplant dish included tofu, black bean sauce, and a lot of full stem Chinese broccoli, which was difficult to eat with chopsticks. What was missing, was the eggplant! There were only a few pieces in the entire dish. While this was a disappointment, the dish was very good. It just seemed more like a dish that contained some eggplant rather than an eggplant dish. We declined dessert, but a chocolate torte in raspberry sauce was brought out for the birthday girl. We ate most of it and it was delicious. The room is very nice and reminded me of a mini Four Seasons. Our waiter (Ken) was professional and friendly throughout. I'm going to give four stars, because of only one visit and the lack of eggplant in the eggplant entree. The bill was around $118 before tip. read more

I was recently at Nectar for a work dinner. I can't help but not feel anything special after dining here. There was confusion with my company's reservation. We reserved a private room that required a $1500 minimum bill. When we arrived, the private room consisted of one long narrow table for 17 people that was only seperated from the rest of the restaurant by a curtain. It was hard to chat with everyone as the table and space were both narrow and noice was not buffered from the rest of the restaurant. I wasn't asked once if I would like my wine or water refilled and I thought the food in general was just meh- nothing special for the calibar of the restaurant. I couldn't help but compare every aspect to Buddakan in Old City. There really is no comparison. Even their attempt at the fried donuts that buddakan does was very underwelming. The only memorable selections that I tried were the edamame dumplings and vulrhona chocolate dessert. Everything else was forgetable. I guess with the lack of great restaurants in the Berwyn/Paoli resturants, Nectar can stand out. The decor is nice and the menu is inviting. I personally think if they want to be compared to Buddakan, they need to step up their game..a lot. read more

Nectar is a big city restaurant, without having to go into the city. The modern decor and openness of the dining room is very inviting. I'm not a sushi fan, myself, but I've enjoyed several dishes here, and looking forward to my next visit. The restrooms get an A+, the most stylish i have ever seen outside of NYC, and they are always very clean, which most health inspectors will tell you, usually means the kitchen is very clean as well. read more

Excellent food, fast, efficient service but pricey. I ate here during the week while on a business trip and it was moderately busy. I had the dumplings appetizer and sashimi and it was delicious. I don't mind pricey restaurants but this one is higher than it should be. Still, I will return on a future trip. read more

Absolutely appalled by the service here. We arrived at 7:55 and were seated without a hello,welcome or greeting of any variety. Shortly there after, we were given water but no drink menu and still- no words spoken. At 8:05, after assuming we must be invisible, we decided to start a timer and leave it in plain sight on our table to see if anyone cared enough to look our way. At 8:10, we decided 15 minutes was the breaking point. We let a staff member know we didn't need any more water as we would be finishing our glass and leaving. He promptly got the manager who we so desperately hoped would offer a sincere apology and constructive solution to this unacceptable dilemma. Much to our dismay, he questioned our wait time, genuinely pondering the sincerity of our account. We let him know this was unacceptable to which he agreed and said well let me get you a menu. We respectfully declined his insincere attempt to win our business, finished our water as promised and left. The one star is for the refreshingly crisp water. read more

The Service-the waiter was always rushing away from us or just plain rushing us. He would disappear constantly. But most annoying was that he splashed me with sauce while clearing the plate, and offered no apology (but did bring me seltzer). And he offered no comp at all-even when we ordered desserts and coffee. The Food-this place uses to be delicious and inventive, now it seems like they rely on over salting or oversaucing. The dumplings were drenched in what appeared to be black bean sauce that was so strong you couldn't taste the dumpling. The baby octopus was fried and tasted like any other fried food would. I wanted the house ramen for dinner, but the waiter inexplicably told me not to bother because it was no different than my freeze dried cup noodles at home, and that the noodles were not made there and not fresh (!!). My wok beef tenderloin suffered the same problem as the dumplings...sauce so strong and oversalted that I had to wipe it off with a napkin. But it wasn't all bad, my wife's sushi was excellent. Still, the place is crazy overpriced, not including the dry cleaning bill for my shirt. I used to go frequently, but this last experience was so poor that I'm done. read more

WOW! What a place to dine! This restaurant just blew me away from the moment I walked into it! AMAZING layout and very formal place setting to the tables and also they offered either inside or outside seating which both my girlfriend and I loved. Also since it was Asian type of cuisine they had both chop sticks and utensils laid out to use it you wanted to use either or. But you could also do what I did and use both. The food was pure wonders! Everything my girlfriend and I ate was just amazing!!! The cheese platter was such a great appetizer and just a small sample of what was to come. The appetizer, entrees, and the dessert were all awesome. The servers also were so kind and considerate to our feelings in not being disturbed while eating or talking. A lot of restaurants wont really take notice that this guests are eating and talking and dont want to be disturbed. But our waitress did!!! I recall when I was eating my main course that I saw our waitress out of the corner of my eye and she was staying back and away until we were done our conversation and food til she came over and asked for dessert! Loved every minute of it!!!! Also the food is perfectly priced everything I ate I would not have paid a penny more or less for. The ONE and only bad thing i have to say about this place is that I simply did not like the forks, that's all!!! They were just a little bulky, but hey if that's the only thing I didn't approve of then I think that is a pretty damn good place to dine as fine as one can! MUST GO!!!! read more

Love everything about this restaurant (except the valet parking -- c'mon it's Berwyn, not downtown). The salads and greens are always so fresh that the chef must hand pick them from a greenhouse in back of the restaurant just before they're served. I've never had a bad meal here -- always love the flavor combinations and every appetizer, entree, and dessert is cooked perfectly. This restaurant came highly recommended for our anniversary dinner. My husband has eaten here several times for business lunches, so he too thought it would be a good choice. We made open table reservations, requesting a good table since celebrating our anniversary. Upon arriving we were offered a small table for two among a row of 8+ tables. I expressed that I really wanted to just eat dinner with my husband not the rest of the guests. I suggested a small booth only to have them seat 4 business guys in our same booth shortly after!! There were so many other options for their seating, as well as us (secluded tables up by the windows), but no attention/thought was put in to our seating. Now for our server, did we ever really have one? She laid our menus down, opened water, once asked us how things were, while neglecting us the majority of the time (at least pour water!)! She attended the other tables, while being very conscientious with them. The male waiter reviewed the menu with his customers, stopped by frequently, picked up used dishes, treated them like they mattered!! Our server in my eyes did not treat us equally!! Food- it was tasty, but unfortunately we already had a bad taste in our mouths!!!! Definitely not a place to go if you'd like to feel special and/or have a special meal!! read more

Worst service ever. I had reservation for a party of six. It was raining and my friends were delayed. I was on time and asked to be seated so that I could start ordering. They refused and asked me to wait in the lobby despite having made a reservation several days in advance, the restaurant being half empty and the fact that my friends were on their way. This is one of those places that has a menu where you want to eat everything on it . And nothing disappoints. I wish the wines were less expensive, you aren't getting away with anything less than $60-70. Visually the nicest restaurant in the suburbs. Service is the best of any restaurant I have been to. Too bad the place has become "over commercialized". Cramming as many guests as physically possible resulting in fighter jet noise levels does not justify the $100 per person investment. Enjoyed taking a friend here for a birthday lunch; lovely decor and great service. I was surprised to find that the food is essentially American food with an Asian twist rather than Asian food with complements from a either a variety of Asian cultures or with a touch of American. The sushi looked fresh and delicious but I wanted something else. We ordered tasty mini sandwiches of pork labelled Thai and beef labelled Vietnamese and great drinks. We finished with the mini donuts with raspberry and chocolate sauces. But this isn't Asian or Asian Fusion food. We should have stopped at Thai Orchid or Vee Koo. read more

After an unconscionable fifty (50) minute wait past our reservation time, with no apologies and tons of nasty attitude from front desk and waitstaff, we then waited for drinks (beer - not too tough to prepare), and for our appetizer (highly disappointing Dim Sum bento box). The entrees were prompt, and that's the very best thing I can say about them. We were disappointed by very bland Amish Chicken (seriously, they had this in the "spicy" part of the menu?) and Crispy Duck. The sauces tasted mass-produced, I've had better pot stickers from Trader Joe. Do not reward their bad attitude and disrespect for their customers with your business. Took a client here while visiting the area, and was thrilled to find a place that uses a lot of local and sustainable ingredients. The ambiance had a lounge vibe about it, which isn't really my scene (I mean...we are in the suburbs and all). But on to the food...I started with the heirloom tomato and house-made mozzarella salad, which was fantastic. I forget how tomatoes are supposed to taste when they're actually in season, instead of trucked from South America in the middle of winter. For my entree, I had the shrimp and beef tenderloin, which was tossed with sea salt and served with summer squash, asparagus, and snap peas. I was too stuffed to try dessert, but I will plan more strategically on my next visit. My only complaint was the service -- the server messed up the check twice. She charged me for someone else's meal, thought she reversed it, but handed me the second credit card slip with the same (wrong) charge. It was a bit embarrassing to have to work that out in front of my client, but again the food was good enough to make up for it. The place also was a bit pricey, but luck for me it was a work expense so I didn't pay much mind for once. read more

This is a great restaurant and has remained at the top of its game for years. We visit 5-6 times a year. They were very busy on Valentine's Day to accommodate as many as possible. Service was not at the very high level we have come to expect due to the crowd. The food was excellent as always...we will be back there soon. read more

This is one of the best restaurants on the main line. We have eaten there over a dozen times and each time the service has been excellent from start to finish. I really enjoyed my experience here. The decor and food were both excellent. I must note that the desserts were especially good. We ordered several to share, all of which were delicious in flavor and diversity. To my surprise, the donuts and dipping sauce were probably my favorite. The only downsides are that service was slow and the servers often seemed to forget about us, and the mango martini (which was expensive) tasted like cheap liquor. Get here early or you'll be waiting for the valet to take your car! Got here at 7:15PM and it was perfect timing. Made reservations on their website and it was so simple. Ordered Seafood Bento for 2, Lobster Fried Rice, and Chicken Pad Thai. I loved the Seafood Bento and the Chicken pad thai! Got the mini doughnuts for dessert. it was not as good as i expected. just mini doughnuts (smaller than munchkins from DD) and three dipping sauces. I wasn't a fan of any of the dipping sauces but my boyfriend thought they were alright. Restaurant is a bit noisy because everyone's having their own conversations. Very nicely decorated. would definitely visit again when I'm in the area. read more
