A repair shop wanted me to take the recliner to the shop; and I thought it was a bit absurd as the three sections weigh the proverbial ton for one person. I flipped and studied the recliner and managed to remove the damaged section. The shop I had previously contacted neither answered the telephone nor replied to my texts. Then, I found Mike's Recliner Repair. Mike Felan told me over the phone he could do the repair, and once finished, deliver and reinstall the section to the recliner. I was pleasantly surprised. The previous contractor had left it with visible drywall screws wide exposed cuts, etc. It looked terrible. After panicking because our countertops were scheduled for installation and looking through Jasons Yelp photos, we knew we needed to get on Jason's schedule. He books out sometimes 3 weeks, and this was last minute. We ended up delaying our countertop installation by 3 weeks in order to have him do the work. Waiting for Jason to do the work was 100% worth having a plywood island top for those 3 weeks. He showed up on time and got right to work. His cuts are precise, and the extension he built looks like it's always been there. We ended up hiring him to extend our kitchen cabinetry to the ceiling and add crown molding to it, as well as add trim pieces to our cabinets' blank sides before we had them painted. We also hired him to modify and install a wood hood over our stove top. Everything came out perfectly. We are more than impressed with his work and wouldn't hesitate to hire him again. So I drove it up to Cedar Park and dropped it off, fingered crossed. They estimated it could take 3-4 weeks, but just 8 days later, I got the call that it was ready. They did a great job with the repair. The services aren't cheap, but you're paying for skilled labor and for them to take care with your furniture, which is worth it, of course. Tip - be sure to study their maps of their location on their website before you go. They're at the back of a small warehouse area, and it's a bit of a maze.

I ordered a custom shelf on Etsy that came in many pieces with heavy shelves. We figured we'd see if Dan could install and while he was at it, fix an outlet, fix an outdoor light fixture, hang an irritating heavy photo collage, and fix our bedroom door that keeps pulling apart at the hinges.
