Got retractible outdoor shades for our porch some ten years ago, They have worked perfectly all this time until my German Shepherd decided to try to run through one. Called Fabric Bin, they came out and fixed it same day for a very reasonable charge. I love these retractible shades as we can use our porch year round. Since you can see through them, rather like looking through sun glasses, we still have the beautiful views of the yard. I can't say enough good things about this company. read more

We visited the Fabric Bin for the first time and were blown away at all of their decor fabric. They had bolts and bolts of various type of fabric for interior and even outdoor needs. They will do upholstery work and their prices seemed fair. The staff/owners were very kind and helped with any questions we had. read more

I purchased shades in late September 2023. order eventually showed up February 2024 (told 6-8 weeks at time of order. After 6 tech visits, they finished installation that took nearly 3 months. Within the first few weeks, the cables frayed or came undone. The first 3 visits - they "forgot to bring it". Then finally on visit 5 it was installed (apparently incorrectly) but did not work. On the 6th service call, Jason (who I like) installed and turned on the sensor. Unfortunately it was not set correctly and now constantly retracts the shades even with a modest breeze. After teh fact I found that they had drilled holes into the roof and now need to repair roof I wont use them again! read more

I have nothing but great experience with Fabric Bin. Our house was in the drywall stage when I called to inquire about motorized shades for the upper windows on our 18ft tall family room plus windows treatment for the rest of our windows. I got a call back from Bret and the process went there. I was lucky that I could persuade the builder to pre-wires those windows for nominal fee and afterwards Bret went there 2 times to make sure they were installed correctly. After that I went to Georgetown to select the fabric and met with Wayne who is the sweetest and very helpful. Few days later I got my quotes, paid my 50% down and got them ordered. I was told the turnaround is about 4 weeks. On the 3rd week I got an email from Bret and said that they are ready for installation. I finally got all of them installed a week ago and couldn't be happier with the results. Everything looks perfect!. We got vignette roman shades, motorized roller shade and plantation shutters. Just fyi- before calling Fabric Bin I was trying to get quotes from 2 different companies, one came back with quote that I wasn't too happy about and one (budget blinds) never called/email back even after talking over the phone with the owner twice. read more

Recently had patio furniture cushions re-covered by Fabric Bin. They located the material we wanted, which was not in stock, and completed the work in the time frame promised. We then ordered outdoor screens for our patio doors and windows, which were installed as scheduled. The installation was attractive and meticulous, and we are pleased with the resulting light and heat reduction in our home. Jason and his team were courteous and informative throughout the install. Poor customer service. We were told during installation that a heavier weight bar was needed for our electric shade and that it was ordered and would be installed as part of the cost paid. That has never happened. After several issues, we co their getting charged for service calls to fix issues that occur because our bar is too light. They refuse to honor their word and provide the heavier bar that was specked and promised. read more

We went there when we first moved here. They have a huge selection, but the service was horrible. We ended up going to another company for our blinds and our drapes for the house. I prefer to give our business locally, but... I walked into the showroom. The female employee was on the phone. For over 30 minutes I walked around, looking at their products. So they say they will come and create custom curtains and install them. I request that for the two story family room. I then asked if they could help pic out pre-made curtains for the breakfast nook and master bedroom and install them. Hard no after that. Cheryl said she only does "turn key." Maybe she should look up that definition and they need to change what they advertise. Unless you want your entire house outfitted with what they want on their time line and you have zero say this is not the place for you. I had a motorized solar shade installed in 2016 and was provided a contract with a written warranty of, to be exact, "Limited 10 year warranty on the following components: All brackets, hardware, roller tube, cassette housing, hem bars and related accessories such as pin ends and track inserts, as well as PVC-coated solar screen Alkenz fabric carry a limited lifetime warranty to the original purchaser. Five Year Warranty on the following items: All motors, controls & electronics are warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship, under normal and proper use, for a period of five (5) years from the date of installation to the original purchaser." So first I love the shade on my patio. It blocks that afternoon western sun in the summer and provide enough privacy. I did try calling a few years ago and the sales guy that sold it to me was rude and not helpful at all. My busy schedule put this on hold until now. The motor started making more noise as time has passed even though I followed the recommendation of using Blast lube spray on the track a few times a year. I called to request someone to come out and check the motor since it is still under warranty for the motor until 2021. This guy gets on the phone and begins to tell me the sales guy who sold it is no longer there with one reason being he made promises that were not correct like the warranty. He tried to go on, and on, but I was not about to hear this total BS. Further he stated that is not their current warranty and should never have been promised. Seriously? First, I do not care what was promised by a past employee since I have 2 documents stating a complete warranty fully explaining the details. One was handwritten on the receipt by the 'no longer there' sales guy, and the other the manufacturer warranty given to me stating the exact same thing written on my receipt. I adamantly informed him a contract is a contract. Ugh. Oh, and this was funny, he had to do the math.....2016 plus 5 years is??? Geez, it took him to many seconds to come to 2021. I get a phone call the day before the set schedule for the repair asking it to be moved to another day. Fine. The appointment was for 2:30. My doorbell rings at 12:23. My security system notes who is there but I was not able to answer the door. I called the office 20 minutes later and inquired if that was their repair guys and was told they should have called if showing up earlier than scheduled. Do ya think? Nope, no recent calls, missed calls, text messages or vm. I would have been fine with it had I known. They did end up turning around and addressing the issue. The two repair guys were nice and the motor is now noise free. Again, the repair guys were nice and did the job but when I went to place the padlock on my side gate I found the hardware from the old motor on the ground. I was happy to sweep off the patio but they needed to take that hardware with them and dispose of it properly. But let's be clear, contracts are contracts. I take care of my motorized shade religiously so do not give me the run around whoever you are and let's hope I do not have to call again. Buyer beware of this place. Ask questions, get it in writing or find somewhere else. If customer service is important to you then go somewhere else. read more

I moved to Austin 22 years ago and designed a large, 2-seat lounge chair for my living room. After that many years, it was time to refurbish it. We were not satisfied with the service or the product. We twice chose fabric we were told was in stock, only to be told later that it was out of stock. The delivery was an issue; they only deliver on Saturday mornings, and the delivery was in addition delayed. When the reupholstered cushions were finally delivered, the snaps would not snap. They took them back, never apologizing. When we asked for a discount, for all their errors and our inconvenience, they not only said no, but again never apologized and reassured us it wasn't our fault! read more

Each person we came in contact with was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They explained that their turn-around was running 8 weeks due to covid backups. So, this is my first review. I could never have anticipated being so completely dis-satisfied with the post-sale service I received from Fabric Bin. After about a year from my purchase of motorized outdoor shades fro my patio (I believe somewhere north of $5k), the shade began to pull away from the installed track. The screeching noise as we tried to continue using the shade was intolerable and afternoon sun was easily passing through the gap on the sides. I contacted Fabric Bin to find out what could be done. I was pleased when I heard that the cause of my issue was due to a manufacturer's defect and that my blinds would be replaced under warranty. This occurred on May 7. The next few months were a series of unreturned phone calls and delays. At one point I received an email that simply said "I'm sorry, but ___ is just a busy guy". Anyway, the repair was finally performed, but poorly. I had the guy back to try and complete the job, but honestly, finally just gave up figuring this was as good as it was going to get. A week ago, the track they had installed fell out of the channel altogether. Probably my fault for not reaching out again, but I was frustrated. Here is the reason for the review. Turns out I was being charged for this bad service. I was contacted this week letting me know that I had an open invoice of $403 I had totally missed. Bad product, bad service, multiple delays and a bill for $403. I have been in contact with Fabric Bin to discuss this with no satisfaction. I've suggested they watch for my Yelp Review. I am a man of my word. If this follows the pattern I have seen here, I should start seeing denials in 3...2..1... Please excuse the sarcasm, I am just really frustrated. read more

I was not receptive because they are not willing to warranty the repair. I am a customer of Fabric Bin, I purchased outdoor curtains from them that the rep said would be treated with a solution to keep the fabric from molding. After a short time mold appeared. I contacted the rep about the problem. After some discussion with the owner they were replaced. After a few storms the mold reappeared, I contacted the owner to see if there was a solution we could purchase, much to my surprise he didn't know. I called again and asked the person who answered the phone what we might try to clean the fabric, a product was recommended but did nothing. I contact the rep who sold us the curtains twice with no response. I would stay clear of this company as my experience is they have no idea what the term customer service means!! read more

Years ago I would have given Fabric Bin 5-stars for quality, service and friendliness we had received at that time. Today I am having a difficult time giving them a star at all. We spent $10,000 for indoor and outdoor shades several years ago and were quit pleased with our shades and the service we received. Just recently the motor on the indoor shade stopped working. After putting in new batteries, switching out the battery pack from one blind with another we called Fabric Bin since we had a 5 year service warranty and were still within the date. I phoned and spoke with D... and was told that there would be a $95 service fee. I told D.... that the contract clearly stated and I quote "Free service calls for warranty issues are limited to the first five years". She informed me that we had purchased the blinds from an employee who had left the company and they would not recognize the terms he offered his customers. I explained that the guarantee was written on a Fabric Bin pre-printed invoice under FABRIC BIN TERMS AND CONDITIONS. She said she would have to talk to the owner and would get back. She never did. I called several days later and was told I had to pay the $95.00. After explaing once again the fact that we had an invoice which clearly states our service was still under warranty I was told I would have to pay. We found another company who came out to check the interior blind - free of charge. He found that indeed the motor was defect and sent it back to the manufacturer for a replacement. We have since ordered an exterior blind for our terrace, not from Fabric Bin but from Legacy Awning & Shade in Lampasas. We live in Travis County and still Legacy helped us. read more

Fabrics available are great and atmosphere comfortable...however, the staff portrays that you are the lucky one to be there, not your business is appreciated. There was no smiles, no thank you 's and a non-friendly, unhappy approach. Not sure if the problem is they are unhappy with their jobs in general or just general attitude in not realizing OUR business is their income and livelihood. Businesses go under everyday because of this attitude so I wanted to let them know a change is needed...hopefully not falling on deaf ears. read more

COMMENTS: First, we would not recommend doing any business with the Fabric Bin as their word is NO GOOD! We took our wicker chair cushions to Fabric bin and picked out new material. The result was the bottom cushions were a little too big and the back cushions were too small. We asked for our old cushions back and the Fabric Bin told us they threw our old cushions out. We showed the Fabric Bin pictures of our old cushions vs. the new cushions they made. The owner Wayne Wueste agreed to redo the cushions at Fabric Bin's expense. Then about 3 days later the Fabric Bin told us they would not redo the cushions. We were looking for a shade for our covered porch to reduce the glare of the sun. We researched several different companies for motorized shades and felt that Fabric Bin's Eclipse Shade was the best quality product. Fabric Bin has a showroom where you can see the actual product and its operation. Installation was excellent and on time. The shade not only reduces the glare of the sun, but also lowers the temperature in our house, yet allowing circulation of air on the porch, especially in the Texas summer. We ordered an exterior patio screen shade. A representative came out and measured and since it was a custom order we paid them 50% down and was told it would be installed in 4 weeks. They did show up as scheduled on a Monday but when they arrived the fabric wasn't in the box. They told me they would contact the manufacturer and would be back on Friday of that same week to finish the installation. They didn't. In fact, two more weeks went by and I kept calling and asking for an update but all they (the woman that answered the phones) could tell me was they were waiting on the manufacturer and expected it any day. A manufacturer rep finally called and stated he had just been informed about the issue and took care of it immediately, BUT he shipped it ground which meant yet another week would go by. We all understand that mistakes happen but I judge companies on how they respond to mistakes or issues when they occur. I would not recommend Fabric Bin. The experience was frustrating and time consuming. read more
