Rubber Duck Refinishing - Refinished tub.

Sorry this is so long, but this has been going on for 6 months now…read more I hired Andrew to refinish my claw foot tub. He was very friendly and when the job was done let me know if there were any problems to please contact him and he would take care of them. Unfortunately there is over-spray on all of the tile on the walls from about waist down. It looks like that overspray settled in the tub and left the finish in the tub rough as well-like almost sandpaper rough. The tub was refinished in April. Andrew came back at the end of May once when I was not there(door has a code to let contractors in) and said he "removed the nibs and touched up around the drain". The pictures below are after that. Still rough and overspray on the walls. The tub will need to be moved around to get to all the walls and clean the overspray, so I have it on a flat dolly on wheels to make it easy. He said he needs the tub hooked up to water and a drain to wet sand the tub. I told him I can do that in a few minutes, soon as the overspray is cleaned off of the walls. Lot's of phone calls and text messages later he did agree to come out again on September 3rd, but never showed up. He won't answer the phone, return my messages or respond to text messages. The tub is still very rough and will be a nightmare to clean if it's left like this, along with no so comfortable to sit in. The overspray on the walls is heavy, and will not wipe off. There is a small spot I scraped it off with a putty knife in the pictures below. With a buffer and 3m scrub pad I cleaned 1 tile, which took about 2 minutes. 3 tiles per sq foot, about 18 feet of wall, 3 feet high. That's 3 hours or more of buffing and scrubbing. I shouldn't have to do that. I've been very patient, and all I want is Andrew to fix this. I understand sometimes things go wrong. Just honor your word and fix your work. I'm now looking at having to hire another contractor to come fix this. I would still give Andrew a chance if he was willing but he won't communicate with me. This is now holding us up from moving into the house. The plumbers can't come out to install everything until this is resolved. Good luck if you use him and have a problem. He's not going to put any real effort into fixing it.

The tenants tore it up so bad and it looked so disgusting I didn't even take a before pic of it. So thankful I found Advance refinish! I reached out explaining I needed someone urgently and they fit me in their schedule asap. We easily communicated via text which is very important to me because I'm always on the go juggling dozens of contractors at once so it's so helpful when businesses can communicate in a way that works best for the client. The day of, I got texts of when the technician was on the way which was helpful. He was respectful, worked hours straight and my shower ended up looking brand new and far beyond what I could imagine it to look like. I was incredibly impressed. I do a lot of remodeling projects and I'll no doubt reach out again; they will be my go-to for sure. Highly recommend!

Update November 2024: Following my negative review, Jeff…read morecontacted me. He sent Juan and Leticia, who stripped the bathtub and refinished it. They seemed careful and tidy. It took them 3+ hours. The finish is nice and shiny. I hope it lasts a long time. Our experience with Advanced Bathtub in 2023 was horrible. Technician D***** maybe had ADD focus issues. In any case, he worked fast and loose and skipped preparation steps. He mixed the epoxy paint wrong, probably too much solvent, such that the curing paint pulled up from inside corners, and retracted and split on horizontal countertop surface. Jeff kept sending him back to re-do, and he kept screwing it up. He worked without a ventilation fan. I'm not sure if he was more mental or more stoned from inhaling solvent. The paint is completely peeling up from the bottom of the tub 18 months later. Evidently the tub surface was not roughened enough prior to paint application. I don't know if the tech even cleaned the surfaces, much less roughened them. He painted right over dirt and dust on the tile.

Everyone who has come to our house has asked me how much we paid for our new tub installation. If that's not indicative of the quality of work I don't know what is. I think this is actually better than new! Not only does it look great, the process was speedy and efficient. First of all, response rate was the quickest and most responsive of any of the companies I reached out to on Yelp. The pricing was about middle of the road compared to others When Alex got to my house he got straight to work, was done Ina mater of hours, and the cleanup was impeccable. He sent over documentation for care and upkeep. All in all, this is the exact kind of quality work you would want from anyone coming to your home and help with anything. Highly recommend and have already referred him over to 2 friends who also used him. Thank you!!!!

This company was very responsive, quoted, scheduled, and promptly arrived. 3 hours later, Alex using a google translator, summarize the entire refinish and what to do next. Certainly time will tell, but looks brand new. I'll attach before / after pics if I can.

After talking to Shirley Adams on the phone and meeting Willie, who came out to give me a quote, I knew I wanted to work with them. They have a great family run business, do amazing work, fair prices, and are so nice to work with. They truly went above and beyond, even going so far to help me find a drywall contractor for a repair I needed to get done. The old hardwoods looked rough, so I really wasn't sure how they would turn out. Greg Adams and team refinished my existing hardwoods back to their original glory and laid new red oak in my living room and dining room to match. The work they did is beyond amazing. These folks are truly artists and do spectacular work. The floors have completely transformed my home into a thing of beauty. They are so stunning and I smile every time I look at them! If you have hardwoods that need refinishing, reach out to Adams Hardwood Floors. They are truly the best!

Yesterday my 8 foot granite vanity countertop was installed in my upstairs masterbath room…read more The installers were very nice and curteous, removing their shoes as they entered my home. They used a vacuum to suck up granite dust as they were fine tuning the slab for the install. Trust me you want a company that does this. I have experience with a different company that did not do this and I still have stone dust stuck to my garage door and on my driveway. It took three guys to bring it upstairs, but as I watched the sweat on their brow while laboring to get it up the staircase and maneuver it around to fit through my 24 inch doorway, I couldn't help thinking they could have used one more guy. I videotaped them installing the slab, being ever so careful and breathless from the shear weight of the slab. Very well done. I have the utmost respect for anyone who does this on a daily basis. These guys were great in every respect. The slab I decided to purchase was a remnant with flaws. I stressed myself out so much about it and I probably stressed the staff at Top Surface as well. I am very pleased with how they were able to minimize the stress fracture. I mean what stress fracture...seriously almost invisible. The only reason I did not give a score of 5 is because this remnant piece cost around $300 more than another remnant piece that they gave me a bid on a few months earlier. My project wasn't ready at that time so I passed up on that remnant. I did not understand why their remnant pricing changed in such a short time. It was explained to me that the first remnant was one they had onsite already ...thus the great price. The second remnant had to be purchased from a granite yard down the street for a higher price. That makes sense. All in all the new price was still $400 to $600 less than other granite yards were selling their remnant pieces for. If you are looking for a good deal on remnants check out what they have onsite and if you find something that will work, they have the best prices on remnants than any other granite business I called and I called about a dozen. Shannon was great to work with as well as her other staff. I will do business with then again.

Choosing MaKa Pro Painting for refinishing our 1970s wet bar and formal dining room table was the…read morestart of one of the best business experiences I've ever had. Our wet bar cabinets were in really bad shape and took a lot of expertise to strip them, repair them and refinish them. They were that awful orange color that Oak tends to age into, plus they were scratched, there was mold in the pores and the wood was very mottled looking. Mauricio and Karla were thorough and quick, did a lot more than I expected, and the results are stunning. The mold and scratches were removed completely, the coloring is consistent throughout and the finish is buttery soft. The formal dining room table was also in bad shape. I had ruined the finish in my attempt to strip other items on top of it, plus it had very detailed carved legs and was made from a fussy veneer. They worked at the table until it was perfect, going well above and beyond the call of duty. The table looks more beautiful than when I first bought it 30+ years ago. The effort is took to get the finish from all the carved details in the legs was huge, and the table is truly gorgeous now. We had already contracted another company to do the countertops in the wet bar and to repair/repaint the wall in the backsplash area of the wet bar. After we met MaKa, we learned they could have done more than just the refinishing. They do so much more than refinishing and painting - they are really a dynamic duo. I cannot thank them enough - they truly are a gifted team!! (I could only post 4 pictures at a time, so I'm writing another review just to post more pictures.)

They did a great job refinishing our front door. Look forward to having them do our next project.read more
